Episode Discussion: 4x11 Doomed

Doomed

This is the episode where everything starts. Willow and Tara becom closer. Buffy and Riley become an official couple. Spike has a revelation and is able to live again.

Poor Buffy, is so used to things going horrible wrong that she isn't willing to try anything new. And she should really try it out with Riley.

This felt like a high school episode again. There was some angst but there were more laughs instead. It was fun to see the high school again. Even in the shape it was in

Best part of the episode: Spike and Xander as roomates.

Beg to differ. Things start in The Initiative. Doomed just brings all of those storylines to a temp completion. (brng totally into the open, and reveals more sides to the things the last fe eps have been about). Solidifes it, sort of.) It is a great ep though.

I watched The Initiative twice and I still find it incredibly boring honestly. The season doesn't start for me until this episode.

It is not brought to full fruitation before now. But all the things that is all out in the open in this ep, is grown from seeds planted in The Initiative. The B/R relationship (how he realized that he wanted her, and started courting, and in this ep finally gets her to become his gf) Spike's chip (planted then, now showing more of it's properties) We finding out that Riley is a commando then, while the scoobies learn now. Everything started at The initiative. Doomed just takes it to another level.

Love this episode just for the Spike parts. Him and Xander were hilarious. Spike in Xander's clothing. "Don't turn around." "Am I even remotely scary anymore?" And Willow saving him from staking himself. Great episode.

He gets saved by Xander as well by the end when he was trapped and Xander risked falling rocks to get him out of the libaray after Spike had insulted him earlier. Spander Love!

callace be what it may, I can only speak for myself when I say that this season didn't start for me until Doomed. And if I were going to do a rewatch later this year, I'd watch Pangs and then skip to Doomed.

Well we all know why you would watch Pangs even though that episode really has no relevance to the season either. It's like the first 10 were fillers.

I do like The Initiative but I like it just for the Spike/Willow scene. And yeah we finally got to know what was going in there and how it was for the vamps but that was it. It is a boring episode IMO.

Doomed has humor and sort of romance and the gang all together. And you do get to see The Initiative doing what they do so I think it does work as the true start of the season.

I have... and that's basically what I would have said... but I did like Spike in it too.

I guess because it was a new atmosphere that all the characters had to adjust to it took a while to get the real storyline of the season to come out.

"You made a bear! Undo it undo it!"

But anyway.... more about this episode.

Um... I still love Spike in Xander's clothes. At first he was wearing shorts and then he changed into jeans.

Poor guy couldn't even do his own laundry. I would think that he would seeing as he knew how to use a computer.

Maybe Dru did his laundry for him before.
