Jonathon cut was oddly hilarious for that dramatic scene.

Not to cut into your conversation or anything..

I think both Buffy and the gang/her mom had good reasons for the way they acted. Though I think the Scoobies should've come out and delt with it right away rather than waiting and ignoring her.

If my best friend just ran off with no warning, I'd be pretty pissed, and worried. Specially if that meant the entire town being in danger because of it, and I'm left to pick up the pieces. However, Buffy neded to get away, it's understandable. But for her to come back and act like everythign would be fine wasn't right either..they should've sat down and been like, ok, here's what happend, what do we do now?

Just my opinion. Personally I like the episode, then again, I'm a zombie lover. Plus, Patches the cat.

I would have thought it would have been the Gentlemen. They were scary.

There are Some funny moments in this episode. I really hate how the scoobies treat Buffy though. The party idea was just stupid.

I hated the SG in this episode. She was really broken after what happened with Angel. She didn't just give up being the slayer. She gave up being Buffy. For three months she was completely alone with her grief and guilt eating away at her, having dreams/nightmares about Angel. The only human contact/connection that she had was probably taking patron orders and helping her fellow diner workers. She really couldn't have handled more. It took going to Hell and nearly becoming a slave for 60 years for her to start the healing process. Even then she was really vulnerable when she first came back.

I hated that Willow was mad at her for not being there to listen to her brag about her great romantic relationship with Oz, her exciting time with magic, and helping to dust the occasional vampire.

Buffy had to send her first lover to HELL! She was wanted for murder (nearly shot in the head) with the entire police force after her. She was kicked out of her second high school. She was kicked out of her home by her own mother. And all because she was the slayer.

Xander made me mad too. It was his fault that she had to kill Angel. And he knew it. You saw it on his face at the end of Becoming #2 and when he said "I think he'll find her when she wants to be found" in this ep. He knew what happened. And because he was felt guilty about it he took it out on her. Or maybe he hated that losing Angel (someone he hated) affected her so much. Or was he just pissed that she wasn't being the little trooper by putting her extreme emotional distress on the backburner to patrol every night so that the SG didn't have to do it.

They always took it for granted that she went patrolling for hours almost every night by herself. They would occassionally tag along, maybe once or twice a month to keep her company.

I can't believe that Willow stood her up. That they invited people she didn't even know to her house without her permission knowing that she was probably expecting a small get-together. Poor Buffy. In a little pink dress taking out the fine china only to have a horde of rowdy teenagers invade her abode thinking they are celebrating the return of a girl who just got out of rehab.

Buffy: I am really trying.
Willow: And it looks so much like giving up.

I really hated the very ending. Did the writers actually want us to believe that Willow was being the mature one by "forgiving" Buffy? Are you kidding me? I hated how she was calling her "quitter" "runaway" "delinquent", etc. I didn't think it was cute or funny.

I did LOVE Giles in this episode though. Searching the states (or the Globe?) for Buffy. Welcoming her back with open arms. That moment in the kitchen. Knowing that she wasn't ready to talk yet. Opting for a small get-together. The hilarious "Do you like my mask? It raises the dead. Americans."

Try watching The Zeppo, you'll change your mind about zombies

I think Xander and Willow were being a little immature in this episode, especially Willow, but I can see where they're coming from. They didn't know where Buffy was for three months, it scared them bad. I can't forget Xander's tears of happiness and relief when he first saw Buffy, his choked voice.

It would have helped if Buffy had opened up about what she was really going through. Then maybe the big confrontation wouldn't have happened.

I thought the Zombie story was funny especially with Giles.

I hated Pat and was glad she died.

I hated Pat as well, so i'm with you on that level Jaimie Bee =) But the SG shouldn't have expected Buffy to have to open up and 'talk' about how she was feeling. What would she say?

BUFFY:
"Yeah, i kinda had to shove a sword through my lover and send him to hell instead of the entire world, only he thought i was betraying him when i did it cos he didnt understand what had happened, and my mum kicked me out of home when she found out i was the world's protector, and i got kicked out of school and im wanted for murder after my friend was..well..murdered. So yeah, im feeling kinda blue at the moment."

WILLOW:
"Uh huh. And how does that make you feel?"

*Buffy bangs head against brick wall*

That was the point. Nobody could understand how she was feeling. She felt her only option to heal was to leave the place that caused her so much pain, ie her mother, her lover's memory, the police/school...

No. She shouldn't have run away. But it was what she had to do. The SG should have understood this, and when she came back understood, or at least TRIED to understand without attacking her for it in a way that was totally uncalled for, given that she left as a result of saving their lives. Yes, they could have told her they were angry and hurt, but in the context of sitting down and discussing it, and working to move forward, not like Xander, and jumping down her throat coz she jumped in Angel's pants instead of his...Ok, no, that wasnt the only reason he was attacking her. But TALK not FIGHT and tear to shreds an emotionally fragile girl with the weight of the world on her shoulders...Literally.

And willywiccan, we seem to share the same wavelength in many respects! Loved Giles in this ep, too, searching for Buffy and being grateful she was back. And the bloody Americans quote..priceless. Angry British men amuse me.

=)

Well, they didn't start fighting until Buffy tried to run away again, right? We all saw how they reacted to Buffy coming back, tears and hugs. But then things got out of hand and it's the fault of everybody, Willow and Xander clearly were upset with Buffy, and Buffy gave up too soon and wanted to do the same mistake.

Also there's the whole lack of communication between them. Willow avoided Buffy. Buffy avoided Xander. Xander made up a date with Cordelia so he won't hang with Buffy. Buffy won't talk to her mother.

I vividly remember a scene where Xander and Cordelia were kissing and Buffy tried to make herself invisible until Xander caught her and asked her if she were okay, she didn't want to talk to him, she wanted to talk to her best friend Willow, who was avoiding her because she was angry at her. Everybody was angry at each other. The only one who was sane was Giles, which is why he's the star of the episode.

She didn't give up. She thought that she had made the wrong decision in ever coming back. And that was after she had to overhear her own mom saying that it might have been better if she hadn't returned.

Giles did rock in this episode.

This is a very strong episode! I loved seeing Buffy return to Sunnydale. It also had an interesting concept with the mask. I really loved Giles commentary "Unbelievable! "Do you like my mask? Isn't it pretty? It raises the dead!" Americans!" I also really loved the dramatics. All the haters that say SMG can't act should watch this episode. She's so good at portraying emotion, and she's very convincing. I didn't like how her friends weren't more supportive of her though. They were very distant, and disconnected from her, and it was sad. I totally felt sorry for her. I really loved when that idiot that was talking **** about SMG, gets his neck cracked. That was hilarious! This is a strong episode in my opinion, and really shows depth in SMG's character, and her acting ability.
