I actually like Spike in all of his incarnations, even drunken, love's bitca Spike. In fact despite the other flaws in the season, Season 7 Spike was actually my favorite of all his incarnations, followed closely by his season 5 evolution. His character was interesting in season 2, but in my opinion, his story would've lost my interest if he stayed the same. If he remained as he did in season 2, I can't imagine him coming back as a regular and likely he would've been staked either in season 3 or early season 4. All of his changes went along well with his "Love's Bitca" personna, starting with that fateful moment in Becoming, pt 2 which I'll discuss in more detail then.

So yes, Spike and Dru were interesting characters, and they were amazing together, but Spike couldn't have remained around if his character hadn't evolved. BtVS and Ats were not those kind of shows - the characters evolved or they were left behind/killed off. In fact, I can't think of one main character who didn't change in fairly major ways except maybe Xander, which probably explains why he was one of my least favorites by the end of the series. I got tired of seeing him do the same things over and over again.

Not really one of my favorites, but it gets points for guest-starring Christopher Gorham, and Buffy calling Angel(us) a bitch.

Good times!

I liked seeing Angelus act like a woman

Personally, the scene that I always think of first when I think of this episode is the scene of Willow being sucked into that vortex on the stairs. It's a truly terrifying moment and Alyson Hannigan hit it out of the park. Then, of course, Giles comes to rescue her and they have that short talk before the wasps appear. Great scene in a great episode.

I didn't find the B/A at all cheesy in this particular episode. Buffy needed to let go of her guilt and accept that Angel was gone, and the story did a truly excellent job of setting that up. It certainly didn't hurt that we also got one of DB's better performances of S2.

And the only time we ever saw a Spike who wasn't whipped was when he was with Harmony. Dru had him completely whipped; am I the only one who noticed that?

Ragnarok: You definitely weren't the only one to notice that! Spike loves being whipped - Buffy was right about that, though I think her remark was more about getting beat up. Same general idea.

This episode... As previously mentioned, I think the ghost storyline was a beautiful way to deal with the fallout from Innocence that we really couldn't before. Buffy and Angel needed to talk about what happened and since they couldn't, getting the ghosts to do it for them was great. And yes, the performances were pretty up there. DB definitely working it a little more than usual and SMG, well, I think she pretty much knocks these emotional scenes out of the park as a rule.

Oh yes, and Giles... what a heartbreaking B storyline. And so well done.

I think this episode has some of the best Scooby interaction ever. Xander and Willow were true friends to Buffy, giving her sympathy but not hesitating to point out the flaws in her logic. And they all respected Giles' pain, going ahead to solve the mystery without him rather than beating him over the head with "you're wrong".

I didn't think much of DB as an actor in the early seasons. SMG pretty much carried him in S1. In S2 he finally started to learn his trade, and it shows in episodes like this one.

Ha ha i laughed when Buffy called him that...I thought it was smart how Buffy was being possessed by the Guy and angel by the girl.

It's not one of my favorite ones either. It goes:
1. Season 6
2. Season 5
3. Season 7
4. Season 3
5. Season 4
6. Season 2
7. Season 1

It's a great season, but the reason I don't LOVE it it's because of all the B/A stuff that I find cheesy...doesn't mean it wasn't necessary for all the other seasons, but I don't like to rewatch it like the other seasons...actually I never thouch my season 2 DVD...

I loved the song in this ep. I kept on listening to it and my friends called me old-fashioned for it

It's not one of my favorites either, mainly because of all the B/A-centric stuff. But I don't hate it.
