Buffy the Vampire Slayer - Episode Discussion: 2x02 Some Assembly Required

Some Assembly Required

Someone is digging up corpses in Sunnydale, while Giles is fumbling about trying to start a romance with Jenny. Eric and Chris, two science club geeks, seem very keen on Cordelia. Chris and Eric have been making a Frankenstein's Bride for Chris' older brother, who died and was brought back to life by Chris. They kidnap Cordelia to use her head to finish the job, but Buffy and Co. find her in time, Daryl and Buffy fight, and the place is set on fire. Xander rescues Cordy from a horrible flamey death, while Buffy fights an enraged Daryl. The body that was to take Cordy's head is set on fire, and Daryl chooses to die with it rather than "live" alone.

Rts: #136; lost to Shadow in the play-in round.

Something of a filler episode IMO, it still had some nice touches. Like Out of Mind, Out of Sight before it, it had a monster that you had to feel a little sorry for. The whole Giles/Jenny thing was pretty cute, too.

Creepy episode, kinda low quality. The older brother, Daryl, struck me as a guy I wouldn't have liked even when he was alive. As a dead guy, he grossed me out and annoyed me. I didn't feel much sympathy for him and I was glad he burned. But I wanted creepy little camera toting Eric to die, too. Horrible revolting slimey little creep. The mother creeped me out, too.

I didn't dislike Chris Epps, though. The actor gave him dignity and humanity despite what he was doing. Brought out the tragedy of the character and how he felt about his brother. That performance as Chris was the ep's high point.

Ah, this isn't a great episode (is kinda poor quality), but the scene in the library after Angel saved Cordy from a hand (lol), and the Scoobies walk in and Angel is all jealous of Xander, and then Buffy gets all jealous of Cordy going home with Angel...I just [img]smilies/love.gif[/img] that scene.

Buffy: Angel...
Angel: Xander.
Xander: Angel.

[img]smilies/lol.gif[/img] And the looks Buffy/Angel give each other..and of course, Giles and Willow looking back and forth between Buffy and Angel. As I said, I love the scene to bits. [img]smilies/biggrin.gif[/img]

The rest of the ep was pretty blah... though the end with Buffy and Angel walking in the graveyard was [img]smilies/sigh.gif[/img]

I liked this ep especially when Xander says to Cordelia 'All right but if you come across the army of zombies, can you page us before they eat your flesh?' [img]smilies/biggrin.gif[/img] the look on Cordelia's face was priceless.
Giles/Jenny date was so cute. They rocked as a couple [img]smilies/love.gif[/img]

I didn't like this episode. The only thing I enjoyed was the date with Giles and Jenny. Some lines were funny.

But my favorite part, is when Xander is talking to Willow about there love lives being doomed. And then Cordelia goes over to Xander, and is thanking him, and he's like 'Excuse me: were trying to have a conversation here'. And then hes like where was I, and Willow said something like how they'll find anyone normal. [img]smilies/lol.gif[/img]

This wasn't a favorite, but I still liked it it for the character interaction. That's why I loved the show so much.

Kinda seemed a little after school-y to me. But, I still liked it just the same. I felt bad for Darrel afterwards though. :\
