i agree, after seeing her smashing the bones and crying i would have forgiven her too. anyway, i loved this ep and could totally understand buffy. i never got annoyed the way most people did. i HATED xander in the part where he confronted buffy in that self-righteous way of his. i mean yeah, buffy was being a bitch and all but he didnt need to talk the way he did. her actions were understandable after all that she had been through, i wasnt annoyed through the episode at all. it was one of those moments i hated xander the most. i also hated him (in a way i didnt know it was possible for me to hate someone from scoobies so much) in dead man's party (in buffy's welcome home party when he starts accusing buffy), in revelations (when he acts the way he does in library when he learns about angel), in becoming part 2(when he tells buffy to kick angel's ass, instead of telling the truth) and also in selfless (when he forgets all about encouraging buffy to kill angel but still expects her not to kill anya).

So Buffy treating her friends like trash was understandable, and Xander's one time burst wasn't? She had humilated him in front of everybody, talked trashily to him and Willow, and was the reason Willow, Giles, and Jenny were captured, I think she deserved that yelling from him to set her straight.

Yeah I agree with Sosa Lola, Buffy deserved to be yelled at by Xander. Her nasty attitude nearly got them all killed. It was one of the less favourable qualities in Buffy.

I agree. I mean, c'mon, Buffy had been rude to her fiends, her boyfriend and her Watcher, humiliated Xander and nearly gotten them all killed with her rash attitude. Xander had a right to be mad at her. He had tolerated her bitchiness all throughout the episode, but when Willow - his best friend in the whole world - got captured, he put his foot down. That's reasonable. If it had been me, I would've yelled at Buffy the moment she came back from L.A.

Yep, I'm agreeing with the majority here too. And Buffy knew he was right, too, because she backed down immediately and enlisted him and Angel to rescue the captives. She wouldn't have done that if she hadn't recognized that she was wrong. It's not like she would have been afraid that he'd actually kill her

Poor Xander I don't think he has it in him. Maybe that's why she wasn't attracted to him. He never tried to kill her.

Maybe. But I'm mostly thinking about how little chance he'd have had of succeeding if he really did take a shot. It's a little scary how little he improved as a fighter over the 7 seasons of the show.

HI all...I'm a newbie.

I just wanted to say that even though I didnt' really care for Buffy's attitude with everyone, especially Angel...I did kind of feel bad for her in a way, she went through something traumatic and she didn't know how to deal with it. yeah I know its not an excuse but I guess it was her way of dealing and she wen't a litle overboard.

All in all I'd give the eppisode a B+

He knows how to use a bow, that's probably what he was able to muster, poor thing lost his eye in the end and can't use only fighting skill he knew.

For some reasons, his fighting skills were better in the early seasons than the later... when he beat up the coach in Go Fish he was really good.

Yeah... you'd think facing death a minimum of once a week throughout the school year would convince Xander to take a few Karate lessons.

It certainly does point to the value of fighting back though, if even Xander's inept attempts could keep him alive. I think the vampires were used to biting people who froze in surprise or fear, or else just tried to run away.

Well, Roben Hood Xander seems to be doing well in the later seasons He saved Rona with one good throw at the Bringer's hand.

I loved this episode. Sure, Buffy was acting all bitchy but it's definitely a classic. I liked Cordelia's reaction to all the supernatural and the Giles/Jenny scenes. It was really fun to see the gang coming back to school and dealing with starting over. I also love the last scene where Willow and Xander forgive Buffy and they're reunited.

Most vamps didn't seem too interested in fighting, so you're probably right. But you'd think Xander might have beaten one, at least once. I don't remember that ever happening.

There was one time: Killed by Death, he beat up Angelus, and later in the same ep scared him away.

I've always saw Xander as a guy who knew how to use a bow, more than physical fighting. But then he loses an eye and can't even use a bow. Poor kid.

I really liked this episode. I liked that they continued almost where they left off in season 1, that the emotions from the last episode were still there and that Buffy was dealing with her almost dying. Not that I know, but I think it felt real.

The Xander/willow scenes were so cute and I'm still hoping to see more of Giles and Miss Calendar. They have great chemistry and I've been rooting for them since 'I robot...You Jane'
