http://www.amazon.com/Angel-Official...llection+vol+1 It contains select material from the Buffy and Angel Magazines that were published back when the shows were airing. That editing all of the quotes in idea sounds really good to me too! I also purchased the Angel scriptbook collections from IDW: an assortment of random shooting scripts. Of the Doyle-era episodes, there are shooting scripts for "City Of", "In the Dark" and "I Will Remember You." Since we got such little Doyle on-screen, I'll probably post some Doyle scenes from the scripts that didn't make it into the episodes. |

^Oh yes, please do post the scenes. I know there's the one with Cordy and Doyle drinking coffee in IWRY, but I don't remember anything from City Of or In the Dark. I'd love to read them!

Deleted Angel/Doyle bit from the "City Of" script.
INT. TUNNEL - DAY Far off, we can hear (and see?) the rumbling subway. This tunnel is dark, unused, except by the likes of Angel. He sits by himself, face unreadable. Doyle approaches, slowly. DOYLE I heard. I'm sorry. ANGEL If I had just... I didn't help her. I failed her. DOYLE You're a soldier; you fight. Sometimes you lose. ANGEL Maybe the powers that be need to find a better soldier... one with a soul worth saving. DOYLE You know, they don't consult me with their battle plans. But they chose you for a reason. ANGEL She was frightened. DOYLE Yeah, she panicked! You can't always know what -- ANGEL No, I mean... her eyes, the way she would look around her, like -- just waiting to see what was gonna hit her next. DOYLE She got to you. ANGEL And I was supposed to help her. DOYLE I don't know. Maybe she was supposed to help you. Maybe she had something to give you. ANGEL Like what? DOYLE Grief. Angel looks at him, considering. DOYLE (cont'd) There's a particularly nasty vampire out there. Rich, protected, can do any damn thing he wants. He's killed, and he'll keep on killing till someone's mad enough to take him down. He gets in Angel's face. DOYLE (cont'd) What you need, boy, is a bit a' therapy. You have great pain. It's time to share it. |

Thanks so much for that snippet FuriosityShell. Would you mind posting Doyle's first speech to Angel here when you have a chance? There's a part where Doyle is talking about Buffy and I'm curious to see what's actually printed in the script versus what he actually says onscreen.

Yes it was! I loved that Angel helped Doyle with his problem and how he knew Doyle had a problem right away. Also, the ending scene of Angel wanting to learn about his friend life.

Doyle's intro scene in "City Of" is largely the same in the shooting script as it was in the episode. There are just some added bits here and there.
ANGEL The powers that be what? DOYLE This is an exciting bunch of crimefighting devices. He picks up a throwing star. DOYLE (cont'd) I can't believe you really know how to use these. ANGEL (glowering) I'm anxious to show you. DOYLE Tell you something, friend: I'm about as happy to be here as you are to see me. But there's work to be done, and we got the call. Let me tell you a little bedtime story. Doyle's recap, starting from Angel's "I'm not sleepy" is exactly the same, except there's no mention of showing flashbacks of Buffy in the script. When Doyle asks Angel the last time he drank blood is when there's a change. DOYLE When was the last time you drank blood? Angel has trouble answering... DOYLE (cont'd) It was her. Your slayer friend -- Muffy, is it? ANGEL I was sick. Dying. She fed me to cure me. And that's about it. I haven't had the chance to go through the "In the Dark" and "I Will Remember You" scripts yet, but when I get to, I will post the extra bits if there are any, not only relating to Doyle/Angel, but Doyle/Cordelia or Doyle in general. The scene I posted before of Doyle and Angel in the tunnel was nice I think. They probably cut it because of time, but I also wish they had kept it in, simply because I felt Doyle could have been introduced better. |

Thanks again! But, the part I was curious about is actually the part we saw on screen. This is going to be a weird question, but does the script say that Doyle calls Buffy "little miss puppy thighs" or "little miss puppy eyes?"
Yes, this is definitely a weird question, but it was recently brought to my attention that Glenn says "thighs" onscreen and I'm wondering if that was actually in the script or he edited it himself. |
