I re-watched "Halloween" today. I can never not smile at the Angel and Cordy scene in The Bronze at the beginning. It's so amazing. Who would have thought the two most unlikeliest characters (the shallow, vain cheerleader and the dark, brooding vampire) would end up having one of the best relationships of both series?

Awww look at that face, he had to have been feeling so uncomfortable and hurt at the notion that he was being stood up and Cordy comes along and makes him smile. <3
Her statement to Buffy that she'd saved his night was accurate. I love that scene in 'Halloween'. <3 that special Cordy smile of his. It was also a pretty heartbreaking how Cordy is treated throughout that episode because first we have the pretty rude way Angel ditched her in The Bronze when Buffy shows up, then later Willow comments "She's not his type" and in the end Angel walks right through her as though she were a ghost while she's trying to talk to him which Xander adds to with "face it, you'll never come between those two" (Angel and Buffy). Even if it had been true, that was just cruel. Even back then Cordy didn't deserve any of that. Oh how I wish Willow and Xander could have had an appearance in Angel that showed them how wrong they both were. What an epic foreshadow this episode was of Cangel though. __________________

Nah, I think Cordy deserved that treatment from Xander and Willow. I just watched it earlier today and she was pretty bitchy in the episode. Her "love the hair. It just screams street urchin" comment to Buffy and she was pretty harsh to 17th century!Buffy too, who was kind of annoying but still lost and afraid in a new world. Not to mention she had been bullying Willow and Xander unapologetically for years at that point. I actually think Xander's "you'll never come between those two" was him talking more about himself than Cordy due to his frustration over Buffy liking Angel instead of him.
But I do agree that Angel, who presumably didn't really know her that well, was rude to just ditch her like that when he saw Buffy. I do love Cordelia's denial in the episode that Angel was a vampire. Buffy: Angel's a vampire. I thought you knew. Cordelia: (in a sarcastic tone) Oh, he's a vampire. Of course, but the cuddly kind. Like a care bear with fangs. And then, when 17th century!Buffy is scared of Angel after discovering he's a vampire. 17th century!Buffy: (scared) He's-he's a vampire! Cordelia: (to Angel, in frustrated tone) She's got this thing where she thinks you're... Forget it. (to Buffy) It's okay. Angel's a good vampire. He would never hurt you. She says it in a really patronizing way to Buffy and still doesn't believe it. But I really love Angel's smile when he's talking to her. It always amazes how genuinely happy he was to see her pre-L.A. friendship. Like, he's just amazed by her personality and how honest and human she is, and he's never seen anything like it. Don't get me wrong, the way she'd treated them was wrong but if she was wrong then how is it not wrong for them to treat her the same way back? Two wrongs don't make a right and to slam her feelings even if they weren't the deepest is just cruel.
Even though she largely just wanted to steal Angel from Buffy I believe there was some part of her that really did like him. After all the disregard she's gotten from guys, including having been dumped that very night there is no way she didn't feel something when she saw him stood up and embrassed in the Bronze alongside seeing her opportunity to swoop in and then there is her face at the end of the episode as she watched Angel walk right through her as though she weren't there with Buffy. That in itself should have been satisfying as revenge on her, so what need was there for Xander to throw in that comment about coming between them? Interesting assessment on that though, that it was more a comment of alliance because he was referring to his own feelings for Buffy, that actually makes a lot of sense. As for the way she'd treated 17th Century Buffy, wasn't she never aware of that spell? In which case she wasn't intentionally disregarding her situation but I see how that makes little difference. Her reaction to Buffy trying to tell her that Angel is a vampire is for sure one of the best things about the episode...Care Bear with Fangs, LOL, I'd totally forgotten that comment. What an interesting Parallel that her first response was "Of course but the cuddly kind?" to when she says "As far as vampires go you're pretty cuddly" in ATS. At first I'd wondered if she'd bought it but just didn't care but after being reminded that she was 'Team-Send-Him-To-Hell" when he was re-cursed after the Angelus arc in season 2, that's pretty telling that it was in fact denial which is more fitting for her character back then. On another note, earlier tonight I finished a new Cangel art. I've been so busy its been a while since I've been able to photoshop and I'm so pleased with how this one came out. I just had to do something with these lyrics from 'If Only Tears Could Bring You Back' by Midnight Sons because they're just perfect for Angel when he realizes that Cordy died or even when she'd fallen into her coma. Since I know the font might be hard to read (but I couldn't part with it), this is the full verse, those with * by them I had to cut in the piece. "How will I start tomorrow without you here? who's heart will guide me, when all the answers disappear? *Is it too late, are you too far gone to stay? *Best friends forever, should never have to go away. what will I do, you know I'm only half without you? how will I make it through? *If only tears could bring you back to me. If only love could find a way. What I would do, what I would give if you returned to me someday, somehow, someway. If my tears could bring you back to me" __________________

I don't know the song, but those lyrics are absolutely stunning and so very fitting for them, particularly Angel at the very end of You're Welcome.

Which is exactly the moment I based the piece from, the moment that came to mind when I listened to the song.

Too cute.
This is a popular YT vid that was taken down I found on a foreign site and uploaded. Cangel AU: Parenthood Cordy gets pregnant with Angel's baby instead of Darla. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MNSPqgLjG5w __________________

Starry; agreed and those who do acknowledge it don't give it enough credit, claiming it was nothing but a desire to take him from Buffy but while that may in part true I believe there was something of a real interest in him there.
, the clothes scene. That little duel bounce is just the most adorable thing ever and it's epic how he's aiming that grin at Wes as in "Haha, I win, ******* you!" Jamie; I've got that video in my Youtube Cangel playlist, it's absolutely precious, my favorite part is when she puts his hand on her stomach, the look on his face... I believe it really should have been Cordy who'd given birth to Angel's child. __________________

Tender Looks: Agreed, as early as it was that scene had total couple feels!
Jamie: It does! The editing is fantastic and speaking of fan made Cangel pregnancies, I had quite a dream last night, the night before as well, watching quite a bit Cangel semi-porn is having a great effect on my mind hehe.
