I'm not sure. I haven't been reading them in order. I think Swell or Predators and Prey was the last one I read. I haven't read Retreat or any of the Oz ones yet.

Okay, Team Buffy has become all about sneaky in a world where Slayers are now feared and hated, and vampires would rank at the top of a popularity poll. All hands are on deck as Scotland's brand-newest Slayer headquarters comes under attack; but, when things get more than a little fried, Buffy has to punt. There are yaks.

Twilight can zero in on Team Buffy and her army of Slayers by tracking their use of magic. But Buffy and her allies have taken their submarine -- yes, Buffy picked up one of those . . . they're a necessary piece of equip -- straight to the only person she knows with an inside track on suppressing magic: the werewolf Oz.

In the yak-filled mountains of Tibet, Oz has found his peace and formed a new life. The butter tea flows freely at the reunion, where -- among other fun reunion-y things -- Buffy learns that suppressing her demon side could be the biggest risk of all.

So, Buffy and her supernatural followers must supress their power, live like normal humans.

Then you have Dawn. She gets back to her normal size in #25, and ever since she did, she's glued to Xander. Always standing by his side. They're like Xander/Anya, never saparated.

Here's a sample transcript sketch of the Buffy/Xander conversation --

Quote:

In a wide view, we see Buffy starting to suck her thumb as she and Xander sit in the grass.

XANDER: And all of this is making you suck your thumb?

BUFFY: I got a splinter and it hurts like fire.

In a closer view, Buffy turns to face him as Xander taker her upturned hand in both of his own.

XANDER: Let Nurse Xander take a look at it.

In close-up, we see Xander's fingers work the splinter from Buffy's hand, eliciting a gasp of pain.

BUFFY: *Ow*! Why does that hurt? It's so little.

We see both their faces together, Xander looking down thoughtfully as he theorizes. Buffy looks intrigued and maybe a bit chagrined at his theory.

XANDER: Maybe it's a side effect of your magic fading.

BUFFY: You think? I can feel more now?

In another close-up, we see Xander fold his hands over Buffy's, the splinter forgotten.

XANDER: You tell me.

The view shifts and we look down from above. Buffy lies back in the grass as Xander leans on his side toward her.

BUFFY: I feel more now.

Wordlessly, Xander lies down beside her, reclining his head in one hand. They are very close in the grass.

In a close-up, their faces are even closer together, only inches apart as they look at each other.

BUFFY: There aren't a lot of people that I love.

In the same view, they appear to be staring at each other's chins as they lay near each other.

XANDER: Yeah?

In a close-up, Buffy suddenly turns her head away, looking hesitant.

BUFFY: I need to tell her.

The view shifts, and we see from behind Andrew as he covertly films them. Xander sits up again. Buffy hasn't gotten up out of the grass yet.

XANDER: I'll be here no matter what, okay? Whenever it is. And after you tell her, come find me.

We see Buffy's face in close-up from beside Xander's as he leans closely over her. Buffy looks up into his face with a sincere expression.

BUFFY: I will.

Buffy leaves to talk to Willow about the future, what she'd seen, that she'd killed her... and their conversation ends with:

Quote:

BUFFY: I promised Xander I'd tell him when we'd talked.

WILLOW: Xander's a good guy.

BUFFY: Of course he is.

WILLOW: We can all have futures, Buffy. Even you.

Buffy goes to tell Xander that she may consider him more than just a friend and what does she see when she finds him?

Xander and Dawn kissing.

The fact that Buffy allowed herself to feel again, all she felt was pain. Then she goes back to being same old emotionless general.

Oh no!!! Poor Buffy! And this was the moment we've all been waiting for...we know he loves/ed her, but she just needed time to see him the same way. And now that she does, he goes after her little sister! Guys are dumb.
I thought I wouldn't mind Xander/Dawn, but I don't like it, not when it costs Buffy her happiness/humanity.

Also, I love that they're bringing back old characters, it makes it feel almost like the show is on again! Especially Oz, I love him!

OH MY GOD!!!!! times INFINITY!!!

After nine years and she finally wants to be romantically involved with Xander and thinks she may be "in love" with him. And she catches him with Dawn!

He knew Dawn when she was in elementary and through her "Get out! Get out! Get out!" kleptomania bratty phrase. He was grossed out when he realized it was Dawn skankily dressed and dirty dancing in the Bronze in Him. I get that she is in her late teens now but I don't want him with Dawn.

Joss Whedon really loves to torment us, doesn't he? I need to process that.

They need to stop breaking my Buffster's heart. Poor Buffy. Ooh, imagine Xander's reaction when he eventually finds out that Buffy finally felt that way about him. And its too late. He thought it was never going to happen with her, gave up hope, and tried to move on with Anya and now Dawn.

Its so weird that Dawn didn't even exist pre-S5.

Buffy opened her heart to Angel and had to deal with Angelus, the grief of sending him to Hell, and his dumping her and skipping town and creating a family without her. She thought she was giving her all with Riley only to find out that he thought she was treating him like a rebound boyfriend and catching him trying to satisfy his need to be "needed" with his vampire whores. She finally told Spike she loved him and he didn't believe her and died in the Hellmouth and didn't tell her he was alive again. And now this with Xander.

I hate reading everyone online saying that Buffy treated Dawn like dirt because she ignored her. Not spending enough time with someone is not the same as being mean or cruel to someone. In S6 she was suffering from severe depression and was suicidal while having to work full-time at the Doublemeat Palace, in S7 she became the new Head of the Watchers Council and had to protect and/or train four dozen people while also being a full-time Sunnydale High counselor, and now in S8 she is Queen of the Slayers and is responsible for over a thousand women.

She is busy and stressed and doesn't know how to reconnect with everyone after being resurrected and to balance being the leader with her role as a sister, friend, etc. I don't think it is fair for some to say Buffy didn't help Dawn with her "giant" problem when Dawn wouldn't confide in her. She told her sister that Willow was like a mother to her and that she would only tell Willow about how she may have become a giant, she refused to tell Buffy key information that might undo the spell because she feared Buffy would judge her.
