Welcome to the Buffy&Xander thread. This is a thread for the relationship between Buffy Summers and Xander Harris on the TV Show Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Xander: Nah. Forget it. I'm not him. I mean, I guess a guy's gotta be undead to make time with you.
Buffy: That's really harsh.
Xander: Look, I'm sorry. I don't handle rejection well. Funny! Considering all the practice I've had, huh?
Buffy: Xander, I'm sorry, I don't know...
Xander: You know what? Let's just not.

Angel: You're in love with her.
Xander: Aren't you?

Buffy: Angel.
Xander: Are you okay?
Buffy: This isn't happening. He's gonna keep coming after me.

guy you knew.

Xander: I don't mean to play devil's advocate here, but are you sure you're up to this?
Buffy: It's time.
Xander: We're talking to the death.
Buffy: I can't play kid games anymore. This is how she wants it.
Xander: I just don't want to lose you.
Buffy: I won't get hurt.
Xander: That's not what I mean.
Buffy: Just get me an address.
Graduation Day Part One

Xander: Buffy, I've gone through some fairly dark times in my life, faced some scary things, among them the kitchen at 'The Fabulous Ladies Night Club.' Let me tell you something, when it's dark and I'm all alone and I'm scared or freaked out or whatever, I always think, 'What would Buffy do?' You're my hero. Ok, sometimes when it's dark and I'm all alone I think, 'What is Buffy wearing?'
Buffy: Can that be one of those things you never, ever, tell me about?
Xander: It's a deal. Let's put this bitch in the ground! What do you say?
Buffy: I think I say thank you.
The Freshman

BUFFY: That's my secret to attracting men. You know, it's simple really, you slap 'em around a bit, you torture 'em, you make their lives a living hell-
XANDER: Buff...
BUFFY: ...and sure, the nice guys, they'll run away, but every now and then you'll meet a real prince of a guy like Spike who gets off on it.
XANDER: Buffy. The problem is not you. Don't do this to yourself, please.
BUFFY: It's just ... I just wanna know that there's gonna be another good one. One that I won't chase away.
XANDER: There will be. Promise. He's out there, he could come along any minute.
BUFFY: Yeah, and the minute after that I can terrify him with my alarming strength and remarkable self-involvement.
XANDER: What? I don't think you're like that.
BUFFY: Maybe I could change. You know, I could, I could work harder. I could spend less time slaying, I could laugh at his jokes, I mean, men like that, right, the, the joke-laughing-at?
XANDER: Or maybe you could just be Buffy, he'll see your amazing heart, and he'll fall in love with you.
BUFFY: Xander, that's ... aw!

BUFFY: I mean, look at me obsessing about being with someone. It's like ... I don't need a guy right now. I need me. I need to get comfortable being alone with Buffy.
XANDER: Well, I'll say this, she's a pretty cool person to be alone with.
BUFFY: Thank you.
I Was Made to Love You

XANDER: The past few weeks...
BUFFY: I know.
XANDER: I thought I hit bottom, but ... it hurt. That you didn't trust me enough to tell me about Spike. It hurt.
BUFFY: I'm sorry. I should have told you.
XANDER: Maybe you would have, if I hadn't given you so many reasons to think I'd be an ass about it.
BUFFY: Guess we've all done a lot of things lately we're not proud of.
XANDER: I think I've got you beat.
BUFFY: Wanna compare?
XANDER: Not so much.
XANDER I don't know what I'd do ... without you and Will.
BUFFY: Let's not find out.
Xander nods. They hug.
BUFFY I love you. You know that, right?
Seeing Red

XANDER: Let me tell you something about Buffy. In fact, you should all listen to this.

XANDER: I've been through more battles with Buffy than you all can ever imagine. She's stopped everything that's ever come up against her. (Buffy and Faith walk through the front door and overhear Xander's speech) She's laid down her life—literally—to protect the people around her. This girl has died two times, and she's still standing. You're scared? That's smart. You got questions? You should. But you doubt her motives, you think Buffy's all about the kill, then you take the little bus to battle. (Buffy tears up) I've seen her heart, and this time—not literally. And I'm telling you, right now, she cares more about your lives than you will ever know. You gotta trust her. She's earned it.

XANDER: I should be at your side. That's all I'm saying.
BUFFY: You will be. You're my strength, Xander. You're the reason I made it this far. I trust you with my life. That's why I need you to do this for me.

Joy&Sorrow - A Buffy and Xander Fanfic Archive

BUFFY: Are we doing any good? We’ve been fighting more demons, but… but it just seems like there’s more demons to fight, and, what, is that because of us?
Xander smiles back at Buffy, his face certain in his response.
XANDER: Buffy. Turn around.
From above, we see the two of them look down castle grounds below, and the dozens of Slayers down there.
XANDER: I live with a bunch of Slayers. Dozens of girls who are… so *filled up* with purpose, with confidence they didn’t have before… the walls are vibrating with it. I can’t sleep, the place is so charged.
Buffy is leaning against the stone wall along the rampart. She is looking over at Xander, smiling fondly.
BUFFY: You really need to ask Renee out already.
XANDER: Stop changing the subject to true things. Maybe now we’re only cleaning up messes, but we’re just getting started. What you’ve created here is a lot more than just monster fighters. It’s… you know, ah…
Buffy is looking sad again.
BUFFY: Connection. Why can’t I feel it?
Xander rubs his chin as he answers.
XANDER: Maybe you don’t get to. Maybe the leader, the girl who brings it all together, is the one that has to give that up.
Down below, we see the Slayers, happily training and sparring with each other. Up in the distance, we see the shapes of Buffy and Xander watching them.
BUFFY: Yeah.
Buffy stares ahead with resignation on her face.
BUFFY: Yay me.

How cute was it in GD#2 when Buffy tells Xander that he is Key Guy. His reaction was adorable.

I always felt more of a connection between Buffy and Xander than Buffy and Willow. I don't know if its just she is closer to guys or they really did have a stronger friendship. Maybe it is that wanting to be important to someone is much better than not wanting to be their sidekick.
