Yeah it looks nice. However, not surprised that Buffy's sister was removed when they changed the banner. Some fandoms are so predictable.

We had to fit in a lot of characters, and thus, some weren't included. Riley, Tara, Doyle, Lorne, Connor, etc, all weren't in the banner. There's only so much space. I wanted Tara and Dawn in the banner, but we had to make sure the main core of both shows both fit in the banner.

I doubt anything like that was done on purpose. There were a lot of characters to choose from, and I understand why the ones who were there the longest on both shows were chosen in most cases, it just wasn't possible to fit everyone in.
