I thought Faith held the 'original' slayer power though, since Buffy died and it passed to Kendra, etc?

I thought she did too

it's why no slayer was called when Buffy died at the end of s5.

I'm glad they continued Faith's redemption arc. It was nice to see Faith start to have feelings and regret her actions. When she started beating herself up and saying she is disgusting, that was such a huge moment.

That moment makes me teary. She hates herself so much.

It was very enlightening as to what Faith thinks of herself, & when you see Buffy's face at the end...it was clear that she never really understood just what Faith felt inside

It was sad to see that was the way Faith thought of herself, and I'm glad it gave Buffy that insight.
