I don't get why they had so much trouble writing Connor - I know that VK had some issues with it in s4 because his character seemed to be doing the same thing each episode, but it really wouldn't have been hard to develop his character

I think the writers were simply trying to do too much with too little a time

I think sadly VK character suffered because of the behind the scenes issues with Charisma at the time... so I think without that, things would've been written better for him.

I think so too, we've been discussing the original plan for s4 in the Cordelia thread, & I think if that had happened, we would have seen Connor on the same side as Angel much sooner

I know. It's a shame we couldn't have seen that in most of Season 4.

It is - I feel like both of the characters deserved the kind of happiness they would have found had they had the chance to be like real family

Connor was always supposed to be a one-season character. I think he was might have been originally supposed to die at the end of S4, but they changed it to the memory-wipe. I'm glad they did, because that makes the possibility of he and Angel finally becoming father/son possible.

I believe that. In all honesty, at times it seems like they didn't know what to do with him.
