Angel/Connor Appreciation Thread #4: "You loved your son, Angel. And you're gonna go on loving him."

He, like everyone else, had his suspicions when Darla turned up on his doorstep pregnant, but when he realized that the child had a soul, he knew that a miracle had happened to him. Angel loved his son instantly, and was devastated by the thought of losing him before he’d even had a chance to live – but when Darla sacrificed herself for the child, Angel had the one thing he never ever thought he’d have: a son. Angel named his son Connor and proved to be a very doting father and was really, truly happy – blissfully unaware of the prophecy Wesley had discovered. Believing that Connor was in danger with Angel, Wesley took him away and he soon ended up in the hands of Angel’s nemesis, Holtz. Angel rushed to try and save Connor, but he was too late and Connor disappeared with Holtz into a hell dimension. He desperately tried everything he could to bring Connor back, but he soon had to accept that there was nothing he could do. He had lost his son. However, Connor had survived and grown up in Quor-toth and found a way to return to Angel. But it was not a happy reunion. Having been raised by Holtz, Connor had been poisoned against Angel and hated him now. Despite everything he had been told, Connor couldn’t help but be drawn to Angel and their similarities were undeniable. Just as it looked like they might have another chance to become the father and son they were always meant to be, Holtz framed Angel for his murder. Connor, completely blinded by grief and rage, he sealed Angel in a metal box and threw him into the ocean. When Angel returned, he was furious with Connor, but still loved him. He kicked Connor out of his house, hoping that Connor might still become a champion someday. Despite his anger, Angel couldn’t help but watch over Connor and, as they were brought together to fight against evil over and over again, they started to grow closer. But Connor had a fragile mind and, after a lifetime of being manipulated by Holtz, was easy prey for the demon possessing Cordelia. Connor was incredibly conflicted, but Jasmine, possessing Cordelia, pressed all the right buttons as she turned him against Angel once again. Angel knew that Connor was a victim in the situation, but he didn’t have the time to try and help him as he rushed to kill Cordelia before the demon possessing her could emerge. Angel was too late and Jasmine was born. Both Angel and Connor immediately fell under her spell and followed her blindly. It did, however, give them the chance to spend more time together and start to build the family life they both had always craved. But it was all destroyed when Angel saw Jasmine for what she really was, and he and Connor fell on opposing sides once again. Angel tried to save Connor, but soon realized that Connor had been immune to Jasmine’s ruse all along, and was choosing to stay on her side. Despite choosing Jasmine, the doubt started to eat away at Connor. While Angel was fighting hard to break her spell over the city of L.A., Connor suffered a breakdown as he realized that Jasmine was a lie he couldn’t live with anymore. Connor killed Jasmine in front of Angel, and then ran away as his life had lost all reason. Angel could tell how heartbroken he was and quickly tried to find him. While Angel was invited to take over Wolfram & Hart, Connor had become a completely broken man and had taken hostages in a mall as he prepared to kill himself. When Angel discovered what was happening, he knew that after everything he had been through, Connor was now past saving. So, Angel took the deal with Wolfram & Hart – on the condition that they erased Connor’s memories of him and built fake ones so that he could be part of a real family. Connor was finally happy, but Angel grieved for his son again. He took the reins of Wolfram & Hart for the sake of his son, even though he knew no good could come from it. His world was rocked once again when Connor, with no memories of him, showed up at Wolfram & Hart after his family had been attacked by demons. Angel discovered that Vail, the demon who had built Connor’s fake memories, was provoking him because he needed Connor to kill his enemy Sahjhan. Connor agreed to fight him to save his family, but Wesley was suspicious and when he discovered that Angel had made some kind of deal with Vail, he shattered the Orlon Window – the magical device storing Connor’s memories. Angel nervously approached Connor, but he seemed the same. Connor later came by the offices to say goodbye to Angel as he prepared to go back to his life, telling Angel that he had to protect his parents – hinting that maybe his memories had been restored. Facing another apocalypse, Angel used what may be his last day on Earth to visit Connor. The two caught up, then Connor revealed that he knew Angel was his father and had indeed got his memories back. They didn’t talk much about, Connor was still confused about everything that had happened, but he made sure that Angel knew that he was grateful for what he had done for him. Connor came to Angel’s rescue right as he was about to be staked by Hamilton, knowing that something had to be wrong for Angel to visit him that day. They fought Hamilton side by side, and eventually killed him, but angered the Senior Partners in the process. As the Senior Partners started to unleash everything they had against Angel, he urged Connor to go home and stay safe. Connor resisted at first, but Angel assured him that as long as Connor was okay, there was nothing that could destroy him. __________________

Hmm, I can't really remember. I didn't do it all in one go, but over a few weeks - it seemed like it was much quicker than the Cordy OP did

Probably because of how many bad ones we got, it's difficult to remember the good ones.
I liked it as well. |

That's true, that bad ones were really quite shocking & mad most of the audience quite angry - so I think that is how most people remember them

That's sad their relationship is remembered that way. I think of Angel had more seasons, it wouldn't been remembered more for the good because of how improved it was getting.

I think he would have. The stubborn writers would've been more of the issue I think.
