Kiefer says never say never on showing up for the reboot ... Hey no matter the cast , I will watch it . The new 24 will have to be horrible for me not to watch it ..

I agree Matt, I'm going to give it a try. I'm a bit excited about it. So hopefully interesting characters, good storytelling.

I just think for it to be successful, you would need to cast a big star on the same sort of scale as Kiefer Sutherland. Instead they've casted a nobody quite frankly. I mean, he's only been in this Straight Outta Compton and three episodes of the last season of the Walking Dead. Now I watch The Walking Dead, and I couldn't for the life of me remember the character. I went onto the Walking Dead wikia and read about the character and I still can't remember him. He just left absolutely no impression on me at all

So replacing one of the best TV actors of the last 20 years with someone who's biggest claim to fame is being completely forgetable in 3 episodes of The Walking Dead is a massive, massive mistake and I don't see people buying it. I think the first episode will have decent/good ratings but if the script and acting is as bland and forgettable as I fear it will, they will lose more than half it's audience by the 5th episode imo...

He's a different character.
To me I see this 24 reboot more like an different series with the 24 format which is why I don't mine it.

To me this is like a spinoff series with the same format. I don't remember anywhere where it claims he is the next Jack Bauer.

I'm also assuming this new 24 show will have a different name... 24: .... Something.
If anything I blame the writers for closing Day 9 so horribly. Nice that Kiefer doesn't rule out a return so who knows.

Firstly, I never said anything about replacing Jack- I said if you want to relaunch the franchise without him, you need a big name to carry it off. But, since you asked:

I don't see it as a big deal.

I guess I'm not going to shut it down before I even see the first episode.
Of course I want Kiefer to return but as I said the blame is on the writers for the way they ended Season 9, we can't take it back so sadly we gotta deal. Or they can just end the series for good... however, I feel all of these characters will be different and we will see different forms of relationships which is why even Chloe isn't returning.

Probably it would be better if the creator said, "This is just an extension to the 24 universe like how Criminal Minds have an additional show, and Law & Order and Doctor Who with Tourchwood... "probably it'd be better if that happened to calm some people down.

If it is 24 ep or 12 , last 2 ep should give us closure on Jack for good . So Tim we get the final story on jack for good . .

I'm just saying the creators aren't putting the spinoff into a position to be successful. Had they got a big name, they would have put the show in a position to be successful. Seeing as how they haven't, I think they've made a mistake. If you want a spinoff of 24 to be successful, you need either members of the previous cast or a big name actor to carry the show on the back of their name. The spinoff doesn't have either, which should set alarm bells ringing...

Don't get why these writers have such a difficult time writing more for him lately.

Especially when they seemingly set up a Tony season with the sequel 7 minutes scene on the DVD! It was set up so nicely...

Should've never killed off Michelle, I know you'll disagree but a spinoff show with those two would've been a success. Probably they should've did it after Season 4. Who knows probably Michelle would've still died at the end of the season like Teri.

Tony is such a deep and complex character, I'd have thought it would be a joy to tap into all that. There's so many different directions you could go with if you wanted to build a story arc...

Probably Jack is the only character from the original series they know how to write for so they decided it's time to work with a whole new set of characters and see how it goes.
