Day 2: 8:00 A.M.-9:00 A.M..Season: 2 Episode: 1 First Aired: 10/29/2002

EPISODE OVERVIEW
Over a year has passed since the events of Day One. President David Palmer is fishing with his son in Oregon when he learns of an emergency. He is taken to his underground bunker, where he learns that a Middle Eastern terrorist group known as Second Wave is planning to set off a nuclear bomb in Los Angeles
sometime that day.

At CTU, George Mason is ordered to contact Jack Bauer, who may be able to provide a lead to the terrorists.

Jack has been out of commission since the death of his wife. He is also estranged from his daughter Kim, who is now working as an au pair. He isn't interested in returning to work, but changes his mind when Palmer personally requests his help.

Kim overhears her boss abusing his wife, so she locks herself and their little girl in the bedroom. Gary forces his way in and attacks Megan.

A young girl named Marie is marrying a man who may have connections to the leader of the terrorist group.

At CTU, Jack learns that the key to finding the bomb rests with a group of American terrorists whom he infiltrated once before

Recap

12:00 A.M.-12:02 A.M., Seoul, South Korea: A man is being brutally tortured in order to extract information from him.
8:02 A.M.-8:06 A.M.: The new president, David Palmer, is out fishing with Keith. Palmer asks his son about his mother. Keith says she is putting on a strong
face, but it's just a mask to hide her pain. Palmer's Secret Service protection intervenes, telling him that there's a situation. He is whisked away from
his son and taken to the underground Northwest Regional Operations facility. Back in Los Angeles, Kimberly has begun working as an au pair for a family.
8:06 A.M.-8:12 A.M.: At CTU, George Mason is less than thrilled to be in charge of things. His mood turns to elation when Eric Rayburn of the National Security
Agency sends in a request to call in Jack Bauer. Jack, who now looks very much like a bum, has been inactive since Teri's murder a year earlier. Palmer
arrives at the underground facility, and the briefing begins. He learns that a nuclear device is under terrorist control in LA. A group known as Second
Wave appears to be in control of the device, and intel suggests that the prime minister of an unnamed Middle Eastern state may be involved.
8:12 A.M.-8:17 A.M.: Kimberly's bosses, Gary and Carla Matheson, have just had breakfast. As Carla leaves, Gary comments -- in a very creepy tone -- that
Kimberly has a great body. Jack pays Kimberly a surprise visit at her place of work. They haven't really spoken since Teri's death. Palmer calls the Prime
Minister and demands information on Second Wave. Intel shows three Second Wave bases operating in his country, but the Prime Minister denies this.
8:17 A.M.-8:22 A.M.: Eric Rayburn wants Palmer to speak to the Pentagon about a retaliatory strike. He refuses, citing the lack of evidence indicating whether
or not the foreign country is responsible for the threat. 8:22 A.M.-8:24 A.M.: A blonde lady named Marie Warner is getting married to a Middle Eastern
man named Reza Naiyeer. Her sister, Kate, is unhappy about this for reasons that aren't entirely clear. What is clear is that she believes Reza is trying
to take advantage of their father, Bob's, wealth. Reza sends the company car to the airport to pick up his cousin.
8:24 A.M.-8:28 A.M.: Jack returns home to an empty house. Tony Almeida is in the process of leaving a message on his answering machine as Jack walks through
the door. He ignores it, and instead grabs a glass of water and looks at a picture of Teri. The phone rings again, and Jack decides to answer it. This
time it's an aide to the President. Palmer urges him to go to CTU to hear about the current situation.
8:28 A.M.-8:31 A.M.: Carla comes home to wrap a gift for Gary's secretary. She is visibly shaken as she asks Kimberly to take their daughter, Megan, upstairs
to play. CIA Headquarters at Langley issues an information flow advisory. Tony calls in several staffers that had the day off.
8:31 A.M.-8:36 A.M.: After getting off a conference call, Mason briefs the staff about the bomb threat, then tells Tony that he believes Jack has been called
in because of a previous cover mission. In Oregon, the briefings continue. The NSA is still unsure what kind of nuclear bomb they're dealing with. Casualties
could range from the low thousands to the millions depending on the kind of bomb it is.
8:36 A.M.-8:46 A.M.: An unidentified man enters an industrial building. The few people in the room seem to be working on constructing a bomb. CTU's overachieving
computer programmer, Paula Schaeffer, is now having trouble performing her duties due to anxiety. Tony tries to set her straight just as Jack returns to
his former workplace. They waste no time in briefing him on the situation. Jack immediately turns and leaves to get Kimberly. Kimberly hangs up and turns
off her phone, refusing to get involved in any more spy business. As Jack no longer trusts anyone at CTU, he has a change of heart and decides to help
out, on the condition that Tony look out for Kimberly's safety. Jack learns two things: their prime suspect is nowhere to be found, and a key witness against
him is in protective custody.
8:46 A.M.-8:49 A.M.: Marie informs Reza that an ex-boyfriend whom she was with for six years will be attending the wedding. Reza is unhappy due to the fact
that all of his brothers' wives were virgins, and his family might not approve. Kate, clearly offended by his mindset, is called away to the phone before
she can say what she's really thinking. Ralph Burton, a private investigator she hired, tells her that Reza's financial dealings in the past were all legitimate,
but that his name came up in another file. Syed Ali, an international financer with ties to terrorist groups, has had dealings with Reza in the past. Ralph
tells Kate he will need her help to find out if Reza's business was on the up and up, or if he himself is a terrorist.
8:49 A.M.-9:00 A.M.: An irritated Palmer is told by his aide that the Joint Chiefs are waiting to speak with him. He chews out Rayburn for trying to go
behind his back and set up a conference call with them before he was ready. At CTU, Mason has a states only witness who's been brought in to help Jack
establish his cover. The witness, convicted of eight counts of kidnapping, made a deal to testify against a known terrorist in order to avoid jail time.
Jack pulls out his gun and kills the man. Moments later, he asks for a hacksaw. Gary arrives back at his house, and immediately begins screaming at Carla.
Overhearing a struggle, Megan tells Kimberly that she hates it when her father gets like this. Kimberly locks the door and shouts out that she and Megan
are in the bathroom. Thinking quickly, she puts a towel on Megan's head and tells Gary she was in the shower. Gary tries to send Kimberly out of the room.
When she refuses, he picks her up and throws her to the floor. Megan tries to run, but Gary grabs her, causing her to fall and hit her head. Jack has just
finished shaving at CTU. He's back. Tick, tick, tick...

EPISODE OVERVIEW
Jack works to establish his cover with a small group of domestic terrorists. He learns that their target hits very close to home.

Kim takes Megan and runs from the house, but Gary pursues them.

Palmer and Eric disagree over how to deal with the media during the nuclear threat.

Recap

9:00 A.M.-9:04 A.M.: In the O.C., Lynne Kresge updates the President that the CIA is proceeding on its potential response to a nuclear threat. Because he
fears mass hysteria, Palmer wants assurances that they will not leak the information. At the industrial complex, Marko and his crew load the completed
bomb into a van. Gary finishes his call in Kimberly's room, while Megan is still crying. Kimberly motions to Megan, and the girls make a break for it while
Gary is on the phone. As they run down the stairs, Carla hands Kimberly her car keys, and tells her to take Megan away. Kimberly loads Megan into Carla's
car, and pulls out. Although Gary threatens Kimberly, she escapes. Gary then phones his security company to track the location of his vehicle.

9:04 A.M.-9:09 A.M.: Jack is transported by helicopter to a waiting car. While enroute, Michelle briefs him with photos of Joseph Wald's crew. Jack recognizes
one of the men as Eddie Grant, a guy that he befriended while undercover. Jack orders that no other agents get near his operation. The press begin to suspect
something, because the President cut short his fishing trip. Although Eric Rayburn doesn't agree, Palmer wants to deal with the media immediately. As the
helicopter touches down, Jack checks in with Mason about Kimberly. He learns that when an agent went to pick her up, she was gone. Jack calls Kimberly's
cell phone, unaware that her phone is still sitting in the Matheson house. He leaves a message warning her to leave Los Angeles. At CTU, Tony assures the
frightened Paula that the nuclear bomb may only be a false alarm. When Mason learns that forged Middle Eastern passports found in a car that was crossing
the border matched those of the suspects, he sends the closest agent to investigate. Unfortunately, that agent is the one who is waiting for Kimberly at
the Mathesons'.

9:09 A.M.-9:12 A.M.: Jack goes into a salvage garage, and asks for Wald. He is met by Eddie Grant. Eddie knows him as Jack Roush. He accuses Jack of putting
Wald in jail, but Jack tries to square himself by saying that he has news about Marshall Goren turning state's evidence to convict Wald. Jack gives Eddie
his bag, and Goren's decapitated head rolls out. Jack tells Eddie that he doesn't have to worry about Goren testifying anymore. Eddie smiles, and brings
him into the back room.

9:16 A.M.-9:17 A.M.: Palmer conducts an informal press briefing outside his Presidential retreat. He brushes off their questions about his shortened fishing
trip with a joke. Press secretary Jenny Dodge lets him know that a reporter named Ron Wieland still suspects something is wrong.

9:17 A.M.-9:20 A.M.: Kimberly drives Megan to the police station, but they are detoured by a construction crew. She heads down an alley, only to get cut
off by Gary's car. She can't back out, as a truck behind her has blocked her in. When she tries to lock the doors, Gary unlocks them with his own key.
She and Megan get out of the car, and make a run for it. They hide behind a dumpster, as Gary calls out for Megan.

9:20 A.M.-9:24 A.M.: Eddie brings Jack to see Dave, who is suspicious of Jack for showing up on the day of an important job. Jack tells him that he just
served five years in prison for Wald, and he wants to see him. As Dave checks out Jack's record on-line, Paula sees them making the trace on her computer
screen at CTU. Michelle and Tony have yet to download Jack's information, so Paula scrambles to fill something in. When no record of a prison release shows
up, Eddie secretely pulls out his gun, and prepares to kill Jack. Paula manages to make the file transfers, Jack's record pops up on Dave's screen, and
Eddie quietly puts his gun away.

9:28 A.M.-9:31 A.M.: Rayburn tries again to pursuade the President to come up with a military plan of action in case of a nuclear detonation. Lynne comes
in to tell Palmer that Wieland heard a rumor that the alert condition has been changed. Wieland is going live with a report at noon. Palmer has her set
up a private interview with Wieland in secret, and orders her to bring in Armus. Lynne shutters at the name.

9:31 A.M.-9:33 A.M.: As Dave works with some kind of explosive, Jack again asks to see Wald. Eddie says that he's busy, and tells him to come back tomorrow,
because they have something going on today. Jack gets in his car, and calls Mason to warn him about what he has found. Fearing he has no other choice,
Jack floods his car, so that it won't start. He gets out to open up the hood, and watches the crew pack duffel bags into a van.

9:33 A.M.-9:36 A.M.: Mason checks a confidential report that says the probability of attacks is about 89 to 93 percent. He quietly packs his briefcase,
and heads out. Tony stops him, and Mason says that he is going to follow up a lead in Bakersfield. Tony tells him his motives are mealy, assuming he's
just trying to get outside the blast range.

9:40 A.M.-9:42 A.M.: While she and Kimberly are hiding in an alley, Megan complains that her head hurts from when her dad pushed her. She doesn't want to
follow Kimberly to go make a phone call, and promises that she will hide behind some boxes to wait for her.

9:42 A.M.-9:45 A.M.: Kate calls Ralph to tell him that she could not get Reza's wallet. He asks her to look for Reza's passport in order to find out what
countries have been stamped. While Reza tends to wedding details, Kate runs out to his car and finds the passport in the glove compartment. She quickly
writes down the entries before Reza approaches. She tells him that the workers needed the space, so she was looking for the key. He offers to move the
car himself.

9:45 A.M.-9:46 A.M.: Dave gives Jack a hard time when his car won't start. Jack makes a comment to Eddie about Dave being an amateur, because he tied the
fuses too tight. Dave lunges at Jack. Jack breaks Dave's ankle.

9:50 A.M.-9:54 A.M.: Kimberly finds a nearby pay phone, and dials 911. Gary surprises her. He tries to appeal to her by saying that he didn't mean to hurt
Carla, and only wants to apologize to Megan. When he gets forceful with her, she knees him in the groin and runs off. He catches her, she swats him with
a tire iron, and he falls down. Kate calls Burton, and lists the stamped entries in Reza's passport. Burton is going to track Reza's travel against those
of the terrorist Syed Ali to see if there is a connection. Marie interrupts Kate's phone call to thank her for her help with the wedding. The sisters embrace.

9:54 A.M.-9:57 A.M.: Palmer has a sit-down meeting with the reporter. Wieland knows that the alert condition has been changed, and is ready to report his
story. Palmer tells him his information is wrong, knowing that no journalist can get a private interview with the President on a few minutes notice. Wieland
suspects that his assumptions are indeed correct. Palmer asks for a favor -- to sit on the story. Wieland says he will think about it. When the reporter
leaves, the President makes a call to Armus. Palmer says they'll have to deal with it. As Wieland is leaving the retreat, Armus introduces himself as part
of the President's Secret Service team. He drags Wieland away by the arm.

9:57 A.M.-10:00 A.M.: As Jack fiddles with his car, Eddie approaches him about working on this job. He is one man short, since Dave is now incapacitated.
Kimberly returns to the boxes where she hid Megan, but the little girl is gone. Kimberly calls out, and runs down the street to look for her. Jack rides
in the van with Eddie and his crew, and asks about the job they are pulling. Eddie tells him that they are bringing down the CTU offices in Los Angeles.

10:02 A.M.-10:08 A.M.: Kimberly frantically searches for, and finds, Megan. The police come to Gary's aid, and he tells them that Kimberly kidnapped his
daughter. As Mason drives north out of Los Angeles, Tony phones him with news that the LAPD located a suspect in Panorama City. District wants Mason to
check it out on his way to Bakersfield. At the Northwest O.C., Lynne gives the President bad news; the predicted casualties are actually higher than they
had anticipated, ruling out any possibility of a dirty bomb. The NSA now believe they are looking for a nuclear weapon. Now a member of Eddie's crew, Jack
questions why CTU is being targeted, but Eddie won't reveal any information. Suddenly, Jack's cell phone rings. It is Kimberly, but she has not heard any
of the messages from her father because she lost her phone. Although Kimberly begs her father for his help, Jack tries not to give anything away within
earshot of Eddie's crew. Instead, he tells her to go to her Aunt Carol's house. Kimberly doesn't understand why he is telling her to go all the way to
San Jose. She then calls Tony, who informs her that Jack is working undercover. Tony asks her to get to CTU, and she says she will take a bus.

10:08 A.M.-10:09 A.M.: All of the phones in CTU get corrupted, thanks to Eddie's crew taking out the phone lines at a relay station. Eddie sends Jack to
watch the road. He discretely attempts to call CTU to warn them, but he cannot get through. Jack instead calls the O.C., and asks to speak to the President.

10:09 A.M.-10:11 A.M.: Since Palmer is in the midst of a press conference, Lynne takes the call. Jack warns her of the attack on CTU. He asks her to have
the building evacuated, and then hangs up when Eddie approaches. In the O.C., Lynne and Eric Rayburn presume that this hit on CTU is a diversion from the
main nuclear attack. When Lynne tries to notify CTU, Rayburn stops her. He believes that doing so will blow Jack's cover and ruin his chances of getting
close to Wald. Lynne is adamant about telling Palmer, so she asks Jenny Dodge to interrupt the press conference.

10:11 A.M.-10:12 A.M.: Two telephone repair workers arrive at the relay station, and find that the locks have been cut. Eddie's van ambushes them, and Eddie
shoots one of the workers. He then orders the other one to call his boss and say that he must go on-site at CTU to check the phone system.

10:16 A.M.-10:21 A.M.: Rayburn calls Tony with an order to copy and transfer all CTU database information about the nuclear threat onto NSA's server. Since
he wants it done in under an hour, Tony has Paula work on sending the data over. She goes into Mason's office to use his computer. Michelle points out
to Tony that if this order had only been precautionary, then other agencies would have received the same request. CTU was the only one asked to forward
their databases. Mason arrives at an industrial complex in Panorama City, where a vehicle was linked to someone on the terrorist watch list. This complex
is the same place where the nuclear bomb was being built by Marko's team. The police at the scene break into the building, and see the remains of the area
where the nuclear weapon was constructed. Suddenly, a gunman fires at the officers, and a shootout occurs. Mason realizes that a powder has been dispersed
in the air, and notices a radiation warning sign. He coughs as he calls out to a policeman to summon Hazmat, because this may be a possible hot zone.

10:21 A.M.-10:23 A.M.: Kimberly rides with Megan on a city bus toward CTU. Megan asks Kimberly whether she makes her own father mad. Kimberly reassures
her that she is not the cause of Gary's anger, and promises that she will never let him hurt Megan again.

10:23 A.M.-10:25 A.M.: The telephone repairman pulls up to CTU, and the worker lies to the security guard that he is there to fix the phones. Although Eddie
and his crew are in the back, they are cleared into the complex. The worker asks what the crew could possibly want from CTU. Eddie explains that they are
taking back their country. ^We're patriots,^ Jack says.

10:30 A.M.-10:34 A.M.: Kate gets a call from Ralph. He confirms that Reza didn't have contacts with the terrorist. He tells her he is obligated to notify
the authorities at Homeland Security, and warns her not to tell anyone. When she hangs up, Marie and Reza playfully try to coax her into meet his cousin,
but Kate pulls away forcefully. When Marie confronts her, Kate tearfully says that she only wants her to be happy.

10:34 A.M.-10:36 A.M.: Lynne is surprised to see Jenny hurrying through the O.C., as she had asked her to interrupt the President's press conference. Jenny
tells her she slipped him a note regarding his urgent request, but Palmer did not respond. As Eddie and his crew make their way into CTU, Jack waits in
the van with the tied-up worker. He urgently writes a note warning that there are bombs being placed in the building.

10:41 A.M.-10:43 A.M.: Mason calls Tony from Panorama City to tell him about the lab where the terrorists have assembled the nuclear bomb. Everyone at the
scene is being put through decontamination, but they still don't know if they were exposed to radiation. Mason will send Tony the fingerprints from the
dead bodies to see if they match anyone on the watch list. Tony informs him that NSA ordered CTU's database to be transferred, but did not make the same
request from other agencies. Mason agrees that this is not usual protocol.

10:43 A.M.-10:44 A.M.: Michelle approaches Paula in the restroom. Although she is worried about her friends and family living in Los Angeles, the frightened
Paula knows that it is her duty to keep working.

10:44 A.M.-10:49 A.M.: Jack releases the phone worker with the note intended for Tony, explaining that he is a government agent working undercover. After
the worker gets out, Jack cuts himself with his switchblade to create the impression that he has been struck in the head. Eddie and the crew return to
the van, and find Jack knocked out. Eddie is mad that the telephone guy got away, but lets everyone in the van out before the building explodes. As the
van pulls away, Kimberly and Megan arrive at CTU. She tells the security guard that Tony is expecting her.

10:53 A.M.-11:00 A.M.: Lynne is angry that Palmer did not call her when the press conference broke. She confronts Rayburn about his keeping the President
in the dark in regards to the CTU situation. Rayburn threatens her not to cross him. When Palmer comes into the O.C., Lynne tells him the news. Rayburn
tries to explain that alerting CTU would expose Jack, because he had CTU transfer their intelligence so that the only losses would be infrastructure and
personnel. Palmer says those losses are unacceptable, and he orders Lynne to notify CTU immediately. Rayburn tells the President that he believes he is
making a mistake. Michelle gives Tony the note from the telephone worker about the bomb, and Tony orders an immediate evacuation of the building. He gets
the call from Lynne, and asks if this is the reason NSA wanted their data. Kimberly and Megan are escorted out of the building, along with the other CTU
workers. Tony runs up to Mason's office to save Paula, who is still trying to complete the data transfer. They are caught inside the building when it explodes.
Eddie and the crew watch CTU from a distance, and congratulate themselves when they see the smoke cloud rise above the building. A Hazmat doctor informs
Mason that he has inhaled a high level of enriched plutonium. He may only have one more day to live. Tick, tick, tick...

11:02 A.M.-11:05 A.M.: CTU has been bombed, leaving bodies and debris everywhere. Tony struggles to save Paula, as she's the only person who knows the decryption
sequence for data sent to the CIA's head office. Megan begins to have a seizure outside the building, and an ambulance rushes her off. Rayburn attempts
to blackmail Lynne with the information about Jack's call.

11:05 A.M.-11:10 A.M.: Mason finds out he has around 12 hours before the symptoms of his radiation poisoning appear. Tony phones in to tell him of the bombing,
but Mason is less than willing to return to CTU. Wald calls Eddie and tells him where he is. Jack finally reveals himself and retrieves the address from
Eddie. Jack kills Eddie and Chris in a shootout before stealing a car and heading off to find Wald.

11:15 A.M.-11:17 A.M.: Kimberly paces nervously at the hospital while Jack phones in to CTU to give a status report. A doctor tells Kimberly that x-rays
reveal that Megan was abused in the past. The woman suspects Kimberly did it. Palmer is briefed on a possible evacuation of Los Angeles, which would take
over a week. The President refuses to to sign any order, as he knows it will do nothing but cause mass hysteria. Jack calls in to scream at Lynne for not
evacuating CTU.

11:17 A.M.- 11:21 A.M.: Kate talks to her father and tells him that she hired an investigator to look into Reza's past, as she believes he had been stealing
from the company. Bob downplays it and tells her he had Reza investigated as well, but the investigation turned up nothing. Reza offers to take Kate to
pick up lunch. She tries to get out of it, but Bob convinces her to go.

11:28 A.M.-11:30 A.M.: An ambulance rushes Mason to a hospital as Tony calls in to get his personal password: Hendrix. Mason learns he is not contagious.

11:30 A.M.-11:34 A.M.: Jack arrives at Wald's place and begins to interrogate him. He informs Wald of the Nuclear device, but before Jack can find out who
hired him, a dog attacks him, giving Wald the opportunity to escape and shut himself in a wooden shed. Using a shotgun he grabbed from Wald, Jack shoots
through the door, only to find another steel door behind it.

11:34 A.M.-11:35 A.M.: Carla calls Kimberly and demands she surrender her daughter, all the while attempting to make excuses for her husband. She accuses
Kimberly of kidnapping Megan. Before Carla can get to her car, she finds Gary.

11:40 A.M.-11:42 A.M.: Jack tries to tear through the wall to get to Wald, to no avail. He begins shouting at a camera monitor inside the room to let Wald
know about the bomb.

11:42 A.M.-11:45 A.M.: On their way to pick up lunch, Reza tells Kate that he knows she doesn't like him. She notices him making a wrong turn. He explains
that he wants to show her something. She panics and jumps out of the car, only to discover moments later that something is a house he bought for Marie
as a wedding present.

11:45 A.M.-11:47 A.M.: Paula has finally been rescued from the debris. Unfortunately, she has massive internal bleeding, and if she doesn't make it to the
ER, she'll bleed to death. Even though it will kill her, Mason orders the paramedics to revive her, because they need her code to decrypt the data.

11:51 A.M.-11:54 A.M.: Palmer confronts Lynne for not telling him about the thirty minute lead she had on the CTU bombing, and learns that Rayburn also
knew. He tells her that he still trusts her, and asks that she tell him everything.

11:54 A.M.-11:57 A.M.: Tony has a crisis of conscience, because although he believes Mason was right about reviving Paula, he feels guilty about it. Palmer
has the Secret Service escort Rayburn to his office so that he can fire him.

11:57 A.M.-12:00 Noon: Wald finally opens the door, tells Jack who hired him, and hands him an envelope of photos he had of the woman. He then shoots himself
in the mouth. After he dies, Jack looks at the photos. It's Nina. Tick, tick, tick...

Season 2 Ep. 5

Season: 2 Episode: 5 First Aired: 11/26/2002

EPISODE OVERVIEW

George refuses to allow Jack to assist in Nina's interrogation. Jack resorts to blackmail to change George's mind.

Palmer and Stanton meet with a Middle Eastern ambassador who may be in league with Second Wave.

Tony visits the Warner home and questions Reza about his possible connection with Syed Ali.

12:02 P.M.-12:04 P.M.: CTU is in shambles, Paula is still unconscious and Tony discovers Reza has had contact with terrorists. Tony runs off to speak with
him, as Jack phones in to report that it was Nina who provided Wald's team with the schematics of CTU. Mason calls Jack to inform him that his mission
is done, and he should now go somewhere safe. After hanging up the phone, Mason orders an interrogation room setup for Nina.

12:04 P.M.-12:07 P.M.: Palmer is still being briefed on possible bombing locations. Lynne tells him that the Ambassador of the country presumed to be responsible
for Second Wave is about to land. Gary finds Kimberly at the hospital, and tells her to leave now before the police arrive, because Carla will side with
him if questioned. Fearing jail, Kimberly runs off.

12:07 P.M.-12:09 P.M.: A new advisor, Roger Stanton, arrives to replace Rayburn. Roger tells the President that the Ambassador is only there to extract
information about the US intelligence. Division calls CTU to let them know Nina is en route.

12:09 P.M.-12:13 P.M.: Jack arrives at CTU to have his debrief, but Mason doesn't want him near him. Paula regains consciousness, and is able to give Mason
the location of the decryption key for the data she sent to NSA. Unfortunately, she dies before they can get her to the hospital.

12:17 P.M.-12:21 P.M.: Reza and Kate return home after picking up lunch. Her father asks her how she liked the new house. Kate still doesn't believe everything
is alright. Before they can go inside, Tony arrives to interrogate Reza, and Kate is sent to fetch him. Reza tells her not to let Marie find out about
the interrogation.

12:21 P.M.-12:25 P.M.: The Ambassador informs the President that his government has already arrested four people. Palmer is assured that they want to do
everything they can to prevent the bomb from going off. The Ambassador requests an exchange of intel on Second Wave so that they can do more to find the
remaining terrorists. Lynne and Roger are strongly opposed.

12:25 P.M.-12:28 P.M.: Kimberly calls Jack to try to find out what's going on. He finally tells her about the bomb, interrupting her story about Gary and
Megan. She agrees to leave town. As Jack sits at a computer, Nina arrives at CTU in shackles.

12:32 P.M.-12:36 P.M.: Mason enters the newly secured interrogation room and begins to question Nina. She tells him that she won't say a thing unless she
is guaranteed a full presidential pardon. Mason leaves to phone Chappelle. Jack sees Mason coughing and asks him if Nina is helping out, but Mason just
cuts him out of the loop. Tony begins to interrogate Reza. When Reza plays dumb, Tony shows him Ali's name in his laptop.

12:36 P.M.-12:40 P.M.: Palmer has opened the files Second Wave sent to the Ambassador. As they watch the Ambassador's team go over the intel, Chappelle
calls the President to inform him of Nina's request for a pardon. After Jack completes his debrief, Palmer calls to let him know that he is preparing to
offer Nina shadow asylum.

12:44 P.M.-12:50 P.M.: We finally meet the rumored boyfriend of Kimberly, Miguel. Kimberly tells him that Megan is in trouble, and asks that he meet her.
Miguel is not thrilled about having to leave his job, as his recording studio is full of people, but he agrees to go. Mason takes another pill for his
nausea, but forgets the container in the bathroom, which Jack finds. Even though he currently has no authority, Jack orders Michelle to reveal where Mason
has been all day. Marie finally discovers the agent in the dining room. Kate has no choice but to tell her about the investigator, which prompts a big
fight.

12:54 P.M.-12:58 P.M.: Miguel arrives at the hospital. Kimberly tells him that Megan has been abused, and says that they need to get out of LA right away
because a bomb is about to go off. He agrees to help save Megan from the hospital before fleeing the city. Jack confronts Mason with the knowledge that
he will be dead by the end of the day due to the radiation poisoning. Jack then blackmails Mason by threatening to tell District of his impending death
if he doesn't get to interrogate Nina.

12:58 P.M.-1:00 P.M.: The Ambassador is on a chopper returning him to his private plane. Moments later, Fox News breaks video that the chopper has just
exploded outside of the complex. The interrogation of Reza continues, Kimberly and Miguel plot to save Megan, Palmer gulps as he watches the chopper crash,
and Jack stands by a monitor as he waits to enter the interrogation room with Nina. Tick, tick, tick...

Season 2 Ep 6

Season: 2 Episode: 6 First Aired: 12/3/2002

EPISODE OVERVIEW
Jack begins his interrogation of Nina and pushes all boundaries in order to force her to divulge the name of her contact.

Palmer is surprised and suspicious when his ex wife Sherry returns and claims to have information about a conspiracy against him from within his own administration.

Kim and Miguel plan to kidnap Megan from the hospital in order to take her out of LA and away from the nuclear threat.

1:02 P.M.-1:06 P.M.: The pardon for Nina has been signed, and Jack waits impatiently to begin the interrogation. President Palmer arrives at the bunker
with Lynne. Once there, he's surprised by his ex-wife, Sherry, who has come to see him on an urgent matter regarding his administration. She tells him
she knows that someone has ordered a military evacuation of LA.

1:06 P.M.-1:08 P.M.: Tony continues to interrogate Reza about his ties to Ali. Reza demands a lawyer, but Tony refuses. Palmer returns to the bunker, unconvinced
that the Ambassador's chopper was downed by terrorists. He speculates that someone within the government was involved.

1:08 P.M.-1:14 P.M.: The pardon for Nina arrives, and Jack hand delivers it. As Mason views them through a monitor, Nina tells Jack that the contact who
knows the location of the bomb is in Visalia. Jack lunges across the room, grabs her by the throat, and throws her into the wall. Mason rushes in and stops
him before he can squeeze the life from her. Jack tells Mason in private that he needs Nina to believe he has the power to do anything he wants to her
in order to get the truth out of her. At Jack's request, Mason raises the temperature 10 degrees to make Nina sweat. Jack then goes back in.

1:14 P.M.-1:17 P.M.: Marie still doesn't want to talk to Kate, but Kate tries to talk to her anyway. Kate tells her that they may need to postpone the wedding.
Marie will hear nothing of the sort.

1:19 P.M.-1:21 P.M.: Miguel and Kimberly sneak their way up the stairs of the hospital to get to Megan, but find Gary standing guard outside her room. The
doctor refuses to release Megan until answers regarding her injuries are explained. Gary calls his secretary, and asks her to book two seats to Mexico
City.

1:21 P.M.-1:23 P.M.: Nina finally reveals the name of her contact to Jack.

1:23 P.M.-1:28 P.M.: Palmer learns that the evacuation of military personnel was ordered by Roger. Roger tells Palmer that he was only following Eric Rayburn's
previous order. Palmer asks his secretary to call Sherry and let her know that he will speak with her in twenty minutes. Gary finishes dressing Megan,
and tells her they're leaving. Before they can go anywhere, Gary is called to the nurse's station to answer a phone call. Miguel is the person on the other
end, pretending to be someone in accounting. He distracts Gary long enough to help Kimberly get into Megan's room. After giving his credit card information
to Miguel, Gary hangs up and returns to Megan's room. However, he is too late, as Kimberly and Megan are already gone.

1:32 P.M.-1:34 P.M.: Megan begins to panic, because she doesn't want to leave. Kimberly tries desperately to calm her down and convince her that she needs
to ditch her father. Gary calls security. Kimberly, Miguel and Megan hide in a supply room.

1:34 P.M.-1:35 P.M.: Mason orders another agent to accompany Jack and Nina to Visalia. Jack tells Mason he should spend his last day with his family.

1:35 P.M.-1:39 P.M.: Palmer agrees to hear Sherry out. She tells him that she heard a rumor regarding the evacuation, and wants to know what is going on.
He fills her in about the bomb. She fills him in about how people within his staff are trying to control his presidency. She offers to find out who. Reluctantly,
he agrees to set up a secure line and a private place for her to call him.

1:43 P.M.-1:47 P.M.: Reza's parents arrive for the wedding, only to find out that their son is in custody. Miguel finally decides to make a run for the
parking lot, and tells Kimberly to wait a few minutes before following. He grabs a computer monitor, and runs out of the hospital in order to create a
diversion for Kimberly and Megan. The diversion works, and they make it outside. He then ducks into an alley, and ditches the monitor. As Kimberly and
Megan walk through the parking lot, Gary looks out from his daughter's room and sees them.

1:47 P.M.-1:49 P.M.: Nina tries to aggravate Jack by talking to Agent Miller, the other agent sent to accompany her. She tries to pit the two against each
other, while rubbing it in to Jack that Kimberly's already lost one parent and will lose both if he decides to avenge Teri's death.

1:54 P.M.-1:57 P.M.: Tony demands to know who Reza transferred the money to. When Reza refuses, Tony cuffs him. Reza then confesses that he sent it to Bob
Warner. Gary stops Kimberly, and tries to beat her. Miguel jumps in, and saves her using some super cool kung fu moves. With Gary out cold, Kimberly tells
Miguel to grab Gary's car keys.

1:57 P.M.-2:00 P.M.: Tony takes Bob into custody. Kimberly, Miguel and Megan escape using Gary's car. Jack's backup passes out, because Jack drugged his
water. Nina nervously looks on as Jack smiles. Tick, tick, tick...

RECAP

2:02 P.M.-2:03 P.M.: Warden Airbase, Los Angeles, California. Jack and Nina arrive at the airport in their armored vehicle. Nina tries to rat on Jack to
another agent securing the base, but he is not on her side.
2:03 P.M.-2:08 P.M.: Reza and Kate finally exchange words. She is furious with him for shifting the focus onto her father. He announces that he has done
more for Bob than she will ever know. In the Palmer compound, questions are beginning to be raised about the whereabouts of Ron Wieland, the reporter who
found out about the coverup in LA.
2:08 P.M.-2:12 P.M.: Michelle informs Mason that Jack drugged the other agent assigned to protect Nina. He decides that there is really no action that can
be taken. Lesions are beginning to appear on Mason's body, and his headaches are getting worse. Mike arrives at the Presidential compound, and is concerned
with the story that there may be someone working against Palmer within his inner circle. Mike agrees to talk to Roger Stanton to find out who's side he
is on. Jack loses control of Nina, as the new FBI agents on board aren't letting him operate the way Mason was. They provide her with civilian clothing,
and force her to change in full view of everyone. There are fresh lashing marks on her back.
2:17 P.M.-2:19 P.M.: Mason calls his estranged son, John, desperate to patch things up before it's too late. John refuses to come to CTU, and hangs up on
his father before Mason can tell him he is dying.
2:19 P.M.-2:20 P.M.: Davenport Airport, Visalia, California. The plane lands, and is escorted by police car to the unloading point. With scores of people
there to meet them, Jack and Nina disembark. Nina finally tells Jack the location of her contact: a thrift store called Crescent Collectibles.
2:20 P.M.-2:23 P.M.: Mike tries to gauge Roger's loyalty by telling him he is now on the team. Lynne briefs the President about Jack and Nina working together.
Nina argues with Jack over his plan to raid the thrift store. She warns him that Mamud Faheen will commit suicide before he lets himself be taken. He says
they won't let him get that far.
2:28 P.M.-2:30 P.M.: Tony calls into CTU, and informs Mason that Reza has begun talking, and is pointing the finger at Bob Warner. Mason instructs him to
bring the pair in for questioning. Reza refuses, but when Bob requests that he go along with it, he reluctantly agrees. Bob tells Kate to call their lawyer
and tell him what is going on. Kate is confused, as their lawyer is only a tax attorney, but Bob assures her that the man will know what to do.
2:30 P.M.-2:33 P.M.: Lynne and Sherry are formally introduced. Palmer invokes executive privilege, and gives Sherry top secret clearance status. Palmer
then updates Lynne about the possibility that there is someone within his administration working against them. Sherry reveals that she knows that both
Eric Rayburn and Roger Stanton have had secret meetings with the House Minority Leader. Lynne counters by saying that she knows about the meetings and
that there was a legitimate reason for them.
2:38 P.M.-2:41 P.M.: Kate is alone at home. She powers up a PC computer, and logs into the company's financial records. She then calls up Ralph Burton's
office, and requests his help in breaking into her father's private records. Sherry asks for a private moment with Lynne. She tells Lynne to have a little
respect for her, and reminds her that she did a lot of work to help her ex-husband get into office. Palmer overhears, and asks Sherry to try to respect
Lynne's position. Jack and Nina arrive at the thrift store.
2:41 P.M.-2:47 P.M.: Nina begins walking towards Crescent Collectibles, as Jack waits one door down. Nina enters, and asks to speak with Faheen. He agrees
to come down and talk with her. Jack's monitor goes blank, and he cannot see what is going on inside. Michelle's monitor at CTU is still working, so she
relays the info back to Jack, while a translator with Michelle is on hand to translate what is being said. Nina begins talking to Faheen in Arabic. Just
when Nina goes to hug him, the audio goes dead. Jack orders the CTU team to raid the building. They kill a store worker and clear the way for Jack. Jack
goes in, but finds Faheen lying on the floor unconscious and Nina gone.
2:51 P.M.-2:52 P.M.: Nina runs up a flight of stairs towards a locked gate. She can't get past it, Jack catches up to her, and she surrenders. Jack struggles
with the desire to shoot her in the head before ultimately cuffing her.
2:52 P.M.-3:00 P.M.: Just when Kimberly and Miguel think they're in the clear, a police officer pulls them over for speeding right outside LA. A handcuffed
John is brought into CTU by a police officer. Mason uncuffs his son, and proceeds to tell him about the money he has stockpiled. He then tells him he is
dying. John cries at the news. The two share a tender moment, after which Mason orders John to leave town, because something bad will happen today. The
runaway trio are very worried that they might be arrested. The police officer lets them off with a warning, but before they can leave, the cop sees blood
dripping from the car trunk, and orders Miguel out of the car to open it. Miguel does so, revealing Carla's dead body inside. Tick, tick, tick...

Day 2: 3:00 P.M.-4:00 P.M.
.Season: 2 Episode: 8 First Aired: 12/17/2002

EPISODE OVERVIEW
Kim and Miguel are arrested and the police plan to take them back to LA.

Tony questions Bob Warner at CTU and learns more about his government connections.

Palmer discovers a traitor in his ranks when the journalist whom he was holding is set free.

Nina pulls a deadly countermove, setting herself up as the main player in the search to locate the bomb.

:02 P.M.-3:03 P.M.: Kimberly is arrested, and Bob and Reza are brought in to CTU with Marie in tow. Michelle informs Tony that Paula has died.

3:03 P.M.-3:07 P.M.: In the underground bunker, Roger asks Lynne about Sherry's security clearance. Sherry gets off the phone with the network Ron Wieland
works for, then goes to Palmer to ask him about the missing reporter. She offers to talk to Ron about breaking the story. Palmer refuses at first, but
later agrees to let her do so. Kimberly, Miguel, and Megan are brought back to LA.

3:07 P.M.-3:09 P.M.: In Visalia, the interrogation of Faheen is failing, as Faheen is uncooperative. Nina speaks to Faheen in his native Arabic, with a
translator at CTU translating their conversation into English. Jack tries to take Nina and Faheen back to LA by himself. When the other CTU agents refuse,
Jack fights back, prompting his colleagues' guns to be drawn.

3:13 P.M.-3:18 P.M.: Paul Koplin, Ralph's boss, arrives at the Warner house to help Kate hack her father's computer in order to find out what dealings,
if any, Bob's company has had with Ali. Sherry is escorted to the conference room where Ron Wieland is being kept. Sherry begins talking to him. She offers
him the exclusive right to report from the Operation Center in exchange for his promising not to reveal anything about the bomb rumors he had threatened
to discuss.

3:18 P.M.-3:22 P.M.: The delivery truck carrying the bomb experiences a blow out, causing it to lose a tire. The trio of terrorists inside, Omar, Marko
and Basheer, must act quickly to change it. A passing motorist pulls over to offer them assistance. On the plane, Nina attempts to convince Faheen to talk.
He simply replies with, "I'm not afraid to die," and calls her a traitor. Nina examines the half a gift card she took from Crescent Collectibles and hid
in her coat. She reveals that she was approached by Faheen six months prior to her arrest.

3:27 P.M.-3:29 P.M.: The friendly motorist finishes changing the tire. He refuses the money offered by the terrorists. Marko, the driver, sees a group of
kids playing basketball, and begins to have second thoughts. The cop asks Kimberly if a bomb is going off in LA in an effort to find out about the danger
she refuses to elaborate on. When he tries to confirm it with the FBI, the dispatcher informs him that she has been unable to reach anyone at the FBI all
day, due to increased traffic on their lines.

3:29 P.M.-3:31 P.M.: Sherry reveals that Ron refused her deal. She then asks her ex-husband if she can stay in the loop. Palmer agrees, but promises her
nothing in return for her help.

3:31 P.M.-3:33 P.M.: Marko begins to cry, as he has become very uncomfortable with the arrangement. He announces that he doesn't want to kill anyone. Basheer,
the man in the passenger seat, pulls a gun, and shoots him multiple times. Basheer then goes around to get in the drivers seat, but Marko, who is still
barely alive, shoots him dead before dying himself. There is now just Omar left.

3:37 P.M.-3:40 P.M.: Paul learns that Reza has taken $450,000 from the corporate accounts. Around the same time, a check for the same amount was written
to Ali by Reza. Paul finds a file in Bob's personal directory that appears to be a government file that is accessed daily. When he tries to access it,
an auto delete program starts to delete the files. He is able to stop the deletion, and discovers the files are government encoded.

3:40 P.M.-3:43 P.M.: Tony walks into the holding room where Bob Warner has been housed. Bob proceeds to tell him that he is a consultant for the CIA. He
gives Tony a business card with a confirmation code and a contact name at the CIA, and says that he was recruited five years ago, but knows nothing of
Ali. Tony leaves to investigate Bob's claims. The police call CTU to inform them that they are holding Kimberly Bauer for murder. Mason takes the call.

3:43 P.M.-3:47 P.M.: Michelle calls Jack to tell him that Kimberly has been arrested for murder. Kimberly gets on the line, and tearfully tells her father
how she got in that situation. Jack puts her crisis on the backburner, as he's too caught up in what's going on between Nina and Faheen. Nina tells Faheen
that US Forces have stormed his village and arrested his family. Jack asks Nina what Faheen told her. She says, "Everything," before lunging forward and
slitting Faheen's throat with the cut gift card she had stashed in her sleeve. Jack lunges to stop her, but is too late. Faheen dies. Nina announces that
she knows where the bomb is, and demands that a transport take her to San Diego. Mason gives in to her terms.

3:51 P.M.- 3:54 P.M.: Checking the tapes of their chat, Michelle finds a new name mentioned, a name tied to Ali -- Marko. The police officer that arrested
Kimberly and Miguel demands to know what is going on. Kimberly finally tells him about the bomb, worried that he will send Megan back to LA if she doesn't.

3:54 P.M.-3:56 P.M.: Michelle is unable to find anything else in the recording. Tony sends her to take a few minutes to relax and regroup. The President
gets up and goes to the OC just in time to see Wieland on the news, reporting on an imminent threat to the US that he claims the President knew about.
An infuriated Palmer demands to know from Mike how Wieland got out. All fingers point to Richard Armus, who was supposed to be watching him.

3:56 P.M.-4:00 P.M.: Paul and Kate leave the Warner house, and Kate is left with more questions than answers. Before the pair can get to Paul's car, they
are attacked by two men who drug them and throw them into a van. A bitter Jack tells Nina about the last Sunday he and Teri spent together. Something explodes
on board, and the plane begins to fall. Tick, tick, tick...

day 2: 4:00 P.M.-5:00 P.M Episode 9

Day 2: 4:00 P.M.-5:00 P.M. Season: 2 Episode: 9 First Aired: 1/7/2003

George pits Bob against Reza in hopes of learning which one is working with Second Wave.

Sherry and Lynne clash over Palmer's speech to the press.

Kate is interrogated by Syed Ali, who believes she knows too much about the bomb.

Jack and Nina fight off a group of renegade soldiers while waiting to be rescued from the crash site. They nearly escape when Nina takes Jack hostage and demands to speak to the President

:02 P.M.-4:06 P.M.: Things are running amok inside the President's retreat. Palmer barges in on Sherry, demanding to know how Ron Wieland was let out of
custody. Mike shows him a video of Armus letting Ron out of his room. Jack's and Nina's plane is careening towards the ground at a rapid pace after being
hit by a surface-to-air missile. Jack wants to know the location of the bomb, but even with the plane going down, Nina refuses to answer. The man assigned
to protect Nina, Rick Phillips, draws his gun and threatens to kill her if she doesn't tell them where the bomb is. Jack gives Mason the coordinates of
the riverbed where the plane is supposed to land, while he, Phillips and Mason try unsuccessfully to get Nina to reveal the bomb's location. The pilot
announces that the plane is going down now and there is no way they can make it to the riverbed, but the phone cuts out before Jack can give Mason their
new coordinates.

4:06 P.M.-4:08 P.M.: The President apologizes to Sherry for jumping to conclusions about Ron, and lets her know who did let him out. She advises him to
tell the truth about the bomb issue. Mike informs them that the plane Jack was on has crashed.

4:08 P.M.-4:11 P.M: Jack tumbles out of the plane into a field of debris, and pulls a tree branch from his leg. He starts his search for survivors, and
finds Phillips, badly injured. Jack promises to get him help, and then finds Nina still chained to her seat. She isn't breathing. He gives her mouth to
mouth, and revives her.

4:16 P.M.-4:16 P.M.: Michelle shows Mason satellite photos of the missile that was fired at Jack's plane.

4:16 P.M.-4:19 P.M.: When Tony won't stop badgering him, Mason finally tells him that he has less than a day to live. Tony apologizes for being such a jerk.
Bob and Reza have been put into the same holding room. Mason barges in, and starts the investigation by yelling at Reza for claiming not to know Syed Ali.
He mentions the nuclear bomb, and gives them a Bill of Lading found at the warehouse that proves a container was sent to Ali. Bob looks at it, and sees
it's from his company. Mason promises immunity to the first one to come clean, and leaves them alone to let the offer sink in.

4:19 P.M.-4:21 P.M.: The arresting officer informs Miguel and Kimberly that he is taking them back to LA -- and not to CTU either. When the kids voice their
disapproval, the cop tells them that there is no elevated threat status. Kimberly promises Miguel that her father will fix things up. Miguel laughs that
promise off, claiming that she was right when she told him Jack was messed up. Kimberly says those comments were misplaced anger towards her father over
the death of her mother.

4:21 P.M.-4:23 P.M.: Reza asks Bob if he has anything to hide, and the two soon get into an argument. Via a voice-monitoring system, Mason and Tony both
see that Reza's voice levels are steady, while Bob's are all over the place. Reza scolds Bob for lying to him. To get even, he tells CTU that he can track
the shipping order and find out who authorized the transfer to Ali. Security guards have to restrain Bob, who can't control his rage over Reza's announcement.

4:28 P.M.-4:30 P.M.: Michelle asks Tony if Mason is sick, correctly surmising that he got radiation poisoning. Tony affirms that he is. She tells him that
she wants Mason to step down, but Tony says he will watch him -- which isn't what Michelle wanted to hear.

4:30 P.M.-4:31 P.M.: Sherry gives Lynne revision notes that she made for the President's speech about Ron. Lynne begins shouting at her for sticking her
nose in where it doesn't belong, and refuses to so much as look at them.

4:31 P.M.-4:33 P.M.: Jack and Nina begin to leave the crash site, only to be interrupted by a group of camouflaged soldiers. The soldiers' first act is
to execute Rick. One of the men spots Jack, but Jack fires a flare gun at him and steals his machine gun and ammunition. Jack and Nina then flee the scene.
He undoes her cuffs, and hands her the ammo so she can run recon for him.

4:33 P.M.-4:35 P.M.: Kate is awoken by her kidnapper, who reveals himself to be Syed Ali. He grabs her, and takes her to a soundproof room where Paul Koplin
is chained up naked. Ali's assistant stands next to Paul with an electric sander. After the pair plead that they didn't see anything, the assistant turns
on the sander and uses it on Paul. Paul screams.

4:40 P.M.-4:43 P.M.: Jack and Nina are under fire. She throws him another pack of ammo, and he takes down another of his pursuers. She hides the final ammo
pack in her pants. A CTU search and rescue chopper moves in, and takes out the remaining baddies. Jack forgetfully leaves his rifle on the ground, giving
Nina the opportunity to grab the weapon and hold him up. She demands to talk to the President, and orders the search and rescue guys to stand down.

4:43 P.M.-4:45 P.M.: Megan and Kimberly are finally reunited, albeit only for a few minutes, as Megan's aunt is at the station waiting to collect her. Megan
tells Kimberly that her aunt lives in Santa Barbara, which would place her 100 miles from LA -- and well out of the bomb's range. Megan and Kimberly both
cry, but only Megan's are tears of sadness.

4:45 P.M.-4:48 P.M.: Reza is about to be taken to his father's office when he asks to have a word with Marie first. Mason grants his wish. Marie tells Reza
that a lawyer is on his way over. He tells her not to worry and about anything, then informs her that Bob may be connected to Ali. An incredulous and disgusted
Marie walks away from Reza, upset that he turned on her father.

4:52 P.M.-4:57 P.M.: Nina finally gets in touch with Palmer's office, and Palmer asks Mike to screen the call. Nina tells the President that she will say
where the bomb is in exchange for immunity for a crime she has not yet committed -- the murder of Jack Bauer. Palmer places her on hold, so he can ask
CTU if Nina has any weaknesses they can exploit. Mason informs him that she has none, and she's hellbent on killing Jack, or else he'll kill her. Jack
then tells Palmer that Nina is their only link to finding the bomb, and he should give her what she wants. The President promises Nina will get her pardon,
but only after the bomb is uncovered. Nina then tells them where it is. Palmer asks Jack if there's anything he'd like for him to do. Jack wants him to
make sure Kimberly is safe. Palmer chokes back tears, even with Mike saying that he did the right thing.

4:57 P.M.-5:00 P.M.: Palmer is escorted to the Press Corps. As he exits the room, he acknowledges to Lynne the changes made in the speech, and tells her
that it is better. Ali's assistant continues to torture Paul. A hysterical Kate insists she knows nothing. Ali says he believes her, then pulls out a gun,
kills Paul, and orders his assistant to kill Kate. The President makes his way to the Press Corps, as Nina holds Jack at gunpoint. Jack says to her, "This
isn't over yet." Tick, tick, tick...

Day 2 Ep 10

Season: 2 Episode: 10 First Aired: 1/14/2003

Two traitors are uncovered. One is the mole in the Palmer administration who is working with Stanton. The other is the member of the Warner family who helped Syed Ali to bring the bomb into the country.

Jack learns of Ali's location and tries to rescue Kate.

Kim and Miguel hatch an escape plan to stay out of LA, but the results are disastrous.

5:00 P.M.-5:06 P.M.: Palmer delivers a statement to the press, telling them that there is a threat levelled against the country. He goes on to say that
there are dozens of these threats each week, and concludes by assuring them that there is no cause for alarm. Jack exchanges words with Nina while held
at gunpoint. He tricks her into stepping forward and into view of a sniper he's spotted, who wounds her. The CTU guys then move in and cuff her. Miguel
and Kimberly are put back into a police SVU for their trip to LA. Miguel creates a quick disturbance with the cop, causing a lighter to fall from the man's
pocket. Miguel grabs it before anyone can see what's going on. Palmer receives word that Jack is alright. He tells Nina that he will still pardon her if
the information proves to be true. Jack whispers something to Nina that is inaudible, but certainly scares her. As Jack makes his way back to the CTU chopper,
he sees the tattoo of one of the men who tried to kill him just minutes earlier. He recognizes it.

5:06 P.M. - 5:09 P.M.: At Warner Enterprises, a handcuffed Reza is escorted to a computer terminal by CTU agents. Agent Richards boots up a Mac computer.
Ali's assistant, Mohsen, tells Ali he wants to interrogate Kate again. Ali leaves the room to pray one last time.

5:14 P.M.-5:15 P.M.: Jack calls Palmer from the chopper to reveal that the tattooed soldier that attacked him was a member of a deep cover group out of
Fort Benning -- one run by the NSA.

5:15 P.M.-5:21 P.M.: Michelle goes to talk to Mason about his illness. She expresses her condolences. Mason proceeds to tell her that she should think about
what she plans on doing tomorrow. He advises her to find a job that she likes more if the bomb doesn't go off. In the President's compound, Palmer begins
asking Roger Stanton about the commando unit that attacked Jack. Roger claims to know nothing about it, but tells the President he will look into it. Palmer
tells Sherry and Mike that he plans on firing Roger and having him arrested, as he believes he's hiding something. Sherry feels that it's a bad idea to
arrest him, whereas Mike disagrees. Palmer sides with Sherry, and sends her and Mike to find out if there is a connection between the NSA and this group.

5:21 P.M.-5:23 P.M.: Miguel tells Kimberly to pull a bandanna out of his pocket and light it on fire with the lighter he swiped. She reluctantly does so.
Officer Brown phones in for more information about the bomb, and the person on the other end tells him he'll look into it. Kimberly lights the bandanna,
and throws it at the officer. While Brown tries to put the fire out, the vehicle goes out of control and flips off the road.

5:27 P.M.-5:29 P.M.: Kimberly escapes from the car unscathed, and moves around to the officer's side to grab his keys. Miguel is conscious, but seriously
wounded, while Officer Brown is seriously wounded and unconscious. Realizing that Miguel isn't in good enough shape to follow through on his plans, Kimberly
undoes her cuffs, and radios the dispatch for help.

5:29 P.M.-5:34 P.M.: Mohsen begins cutting Kate's ear with a knife. Jack and other agents arrive at the house where they are. Marie shows up at Bob's office
to talk to Reza. She seems a little more amorous this time around, and apologizes for shouting at him earlier. Mohsen continues to play with Kate, as the
CTU agents, led by Jack, enter the house. Mohsen is about to kill Kate when he is interrupted by an agent he spots on the transparent roof. Mohsen opens
fire, but Jack storms the room and takes him down with a beanbag hit. Kate is taken away by agents. Jack wants to take Mohsen into custody, but the fact
that the guy swallowed a cyanide capsule he had stashed in his mouth puts a damper on those plans.

5:38 P.M.-5:40 P.M.: Miguel tells Kimberly to leave him, but she refuses. He insists repeatedly, and she finally follows his advice. As she gets out of
range, the police and paramedics arrive.

5:40 P.M.-5:43 P.M.: Jack attempts to interview Kate at Ali's place. She tells him that Ali is not the dead man in the room, as Jack had thought. Sherry
begins briefing Mike and the President about a twenty-year-old communications network called OPCOM that was shut down long ago, only to be reactivated
last month under orders of Roger Stanton. Palmer asks Mike to call the Attorney General, so they can begin proceedings to arrest Roger.

5:43 P.M.-5:45 P.M.: Jack phones in to CTU to tell Tony that he is with Kate Warner. Tony then brings Jack up to speed on the situation with Reza and Bob.
Jack asks an agent to bring Kate Warner back to the torture room.

5:45 P.M.-5:47 P.M.: Sherry gets the code of a retired deputy director that still has access to the network. She gives it to Mike to track down more information.

5:51 P.M.-5:54 P.M.: Michelle tells Tony that she likes him. He tells her he likes her as well. The two agree on a date for tomorrow should the bomb not
destroy the city.

5:54 P.M.-5:56 P.M.: Kate tells Jack about what Ali was saying, and how she and her family used to live in Saudi Arabia, and thus, she can speak some Arabic.
She says she believes Ali was taking about praying before he left. Jack looks at his watch, and then calls CTU to give him a list of every mosque within
a 15 mile radius.

5:56 P.M.-6:00 P.M.: Sherry calls Roger, and warns him that Palmer is about to arrest him. Reza finds the shipping order in the computer system, and realizes
that the only person who had access to the computer that made the file was Marie. A second later, a bullet takes out Agent Richards. Marie is holding the
gun. Roger paces the hall while pondering his next move. Sherry looks on, pleased with herself. Palmer sits at his desk pouring over documents, as Marie
tells Reza she never expected him to find the information. He demands to know whether or not she loved him. She responds by saying, "You really are very
sweet." As a tear runs down her cheek, she shoots Reza. Tick, tick, tick...

Back at CTU George pulls some of his hair out... he is getting sicker. Jack asks George to look back at time lapse satellite photos to find out where the
plane was loaded first. It takes George a minute to respond. Jack tells him that if he can't function that he should step aside and let Tony run things.

six. Kate calls her father and speaks briefly before Jack asks her to translate for him.

Day 2: 10:00 P.M.-11:00 P.M. Episode: 15

10:00 P.M.-11:00 P.M. Season: 2 Episode: 15 First Aired: 3/4/2003Prod Code: 2AFF15

Overview
Palmer, Mike and Lynne discuss various ways to dispose of the ticking bomb. They conclude that the desert is the best place to set it off.

Jack determines that one man must pilot the plane carrying the bomb. He chooses to fly the plane himself and bids a tearful goodbye to his daughter.

Tony and Michelle become suspicious of a Middle Eastern diplomat who is asking questions about the evidence against Syed Ali.

Palmer departs for Los Angeles so he can be on hand when news of the nuclear bomb reaches the public. full recap »

10:00 PM-10:05 PM As the N.E.S.T. techs work on diffusing the
bomb, Mason arrives at Norton Airfield alone.
Although Jack tells him that it is not necessary for
him to be there, Mason had promised himself
that he would see this case to the end. The techs
alert Jack that they can not dismantle the bomb
because the trigger has been rendered
tamperproof. There is 55 minutes left until
detonation. Jack orders Agent Goodrich to find a
fast plane so that the bomb can be flown
somewhere else, and he calls the O.C. to notify
the President.

10:05 PM-10:07 PM Kim walks along a deserted road, and flags down
an oncoming car. The male driver who pulls up
just happens to be heading toward San Jose.
Kim becomes suspicious, and refuses the ride.
When the driver gets out of the car to persuade
her to get in, Kim draws her gun on him. He
doubts her ability to use the weapon, causing
Kim to fire at his car as a warning. The guy drives
off, and Kim continues walking down the
highway.

Jack and Palmer discuss two different locations
to take the bomb -- the ocean and the desert.
The President tells Jack that they need to
analyze both options, and he will get back to him
as soon as possible.

10:07 PM-10:11 PM Novick outlines for the O.C. war room staff the
disaster impact of releasing the nuclear
detonation in the Pacific Ocean, and Lynne does
the same for the Mojave Desert. Although the
facts point to less risk with the desert, there is
one problem: the bomb would have to be
deposited in a precise location. Since the aircraft
transporting the nuclear device is not a military
plane, there would be no method to deliver the
payload accurately. The pilot would be forced to
go down with the plane. Palmer calls Jack with
the news. Jack says that CTU analysts had come
to the same conclusion about the suicide
mission. He tells the President that several men
have already volunteered to pilot the plane.
Palmer pledges the nation's gratitude for that
man's service, and he vows to take care of
whatever family the man will leave behind.
Palmer asks Jack to call when the plane is in the
air.

10:11 PM-10:17 PM Mason, who overheard the conversation with the
President, approaches Jack. He knows that there
are no volunteers for the mission because Jack
wants to do it alone. Mason offers up himself for
the flight. Not only is he an instrument rated pilot,
but he is already going to die by the end of the
day. Jack refuses to let him take over because
Mason may black out short of his destination.

10:17 PM-10:19 PM Two CTU agents bring a suitcase full of Syed
Ali's personal effects from the safe house to
Tony. Among the items was a hard drive that has
been encrypted. The agents also have with them
Yusuf Auda, a visiting intelligence liaison from
the Arab country suspected of harboring the
Second Wave terrorists. Yusuf is eager to
participate in the analysis on Ali's belongings, but
Tony is evasive and not willing to trust this man.
Tony asks Michelle to assign someone to make
sure that Yusuf doesn't see anything of
importance related to the case. When Michelle
informs Carrie that she will handle Yusuf herself,
Carrie questions whether Michelle has problems
with her working there.

10:19 PM-10:21 PM As the N.E.S.T. techs load the nuclear bomb
onto a Cessna, Jack calls CTU to ask Tony about
Kim's whereabouts. Jack says that since he is
flying the suicide mission, he needs to speak to
his daughter immediately. He also tells Tony that
there is safe in his apartment with his will and a
letter to her.

10:21 PM-10:22 PM Kim is still hitchhiking along the road when
another car pulls up. This time the driver is a
woman named Anna. Kim tells Anna that she fled
a date who had gotten out of hand, and Anna
invites her for the ride. Anna lets Kim use her cell
phone to call her father.

10:22 PM-10:28 PM Kate inquires about how the bomb will be
transported and is horrified to learn that Jack is
the one manning the plane. She calls out to Jack
as he boards the Cessna equipped with a clock
synchronized to the bomb's timer. He turns to
her, but there are no words for what is
happening. Jack closes the cockpit door, and she
watches as he starts the plane down the runway
for takeoff.

10:28 PM-10:31 PM Novick gets word that the plane is in the air.
Palmer requests that Air Force One be prepared
to take him to Los Angeles. Novick and Lynne try
to talk him out of the trip, but Palmer wants to be
there to reassure citizens that he is in control of
the situation. The President is then shocked to
hear that Jack is the one flying the plane.

10:31 PM-10:39 PM Tony patches through to Jack on the plane. He
has Kim on the line, and connects the two. Jack
is relieved, but tells Kim that he has to fly a
nuclear bomb to the desert and will not make it
out alive. Kim becomes upset and starts to cry.
She apologizes for the way she has treated him,
and Jack pledges his love for her. They say their
teary good-byes to each other.

10:39 PM-10:40 PM Anna pulls over the car and tries to comfort Kim,
but she gets out of the car because she wants to
be alone. She no longer cares about leaving Los
Angeles, and she runs off into the night.

10:40 PM-10:41 PM Michelle brings Tony a transcript of a recording
pulled from Syed Ali's decrypted hard drive. The
audio is of a conversation that took place months
ago in Cypress between Ali and high-ranking
officials of three Middle Eastern governments. It
confirms that these countries supplied Ali with the
bomb. Michelle requests that they run a
voiceprint authentication on the tape.

10:41 PM-10:43 PM Tony phones Air Force One and tells the
President what he has found in the recording.
Palmer is concerned that CTU's Division
headquarters will have already notified the
Pentagon and other agencies, causing alarm to
spread. Palmer questions why Ali would have
taped his conversation, and Tony assumes that
Ali would want proof in case one of these
countries were to turn against him. Palmer isn't
thoroughly convinced, but thanks Tony for his
work. Palmer then tells Novick that they could
soon be at war. It would not only be with those
three Middle Eastern countries, but with others.
When that bomb goes off, the President's options
will quickly narrow.

10:43 PM-10:52 PM As Jack is flying, he senses movement behind
him. He instinctively draws his gun and swings
around to find Mason behind him. Mason, who
snuck on the plane, hands Jack a parachute. He
says that the hardest part of the flight is over and
he can take over the suicide flight. Mason
questions whether Jack has wanted to die since
Teri was killed. Mason says it would be more
heroic for Jack to put his life back together,
reconnect with Kim and continue to serve his
country. Jack considers this seriously. He asks
Mason whether he is absolutely sure he is able to
man the plane. Mason concurs, and Jack gives
him instructions on where to crash land. Jack
thanks Mason solemnly.

10:52 PM-10:54 PM Jack gets ready to make his escape, but will wait
to jump four minutes before impact so that he
can stay with Mason for as long as possible. He
phones Tony about the change of plan. Tony
then orders Michelle to send a helicopter to pick
up Jack in the desert. Yusuf notices the
commotion at CTU and inquires about what
evidence has been found. Tony won't give him
any information, and Yusuf becomes annoyed
because his country has shown good faith in
leading the Americans to Syed Ali's safe house.

10:54 PM-10:57 PM Aboard Air Force One, General Bowden from the
Joint Chiefs comes in to see the President to
discuss retaliation plans. The military already
knows about Ali's tape that points the finger to
three Middle Eastern countries who funded the
Second Wave terrorist group with the nuclear
bomb. Plans for war are already underway even
though it is not yet confirmed whether the tape is
valid or that those three countries are actually
involved. Palmer gives the General approval to
activate the plan, but warns him that the military
can not implement the plan without direct
authorization from him. After the General leaves,
Palmer quietly says to Lynne that they may be
facing World War III.

10:57 PM-10:59 PM As Jack loads his parachute to prepare to jump,
he inquires if there is anything he can do for
Mason. Mason says that he got to see his son
earlier, but asks Jack to look in on the boy after
he's gone. Jack places his hand on Mason's
shoulder, and Mason takes Jack's hand in return.
They let go, and Jack leaps from the plane to
safety.

Novick gingerly informs the President that they
will be able to witness the explosion from Air
Force One. Palmer grimly goes to the window
facing east.

10:59 PM-11:00 PM While Mason pilots the Cessna determinedly
toward Ground Zero, Jack drifts down to the
ground and releases his parachute. He shelters
behind a rock, and the explosion roars in the
distance. Meanwhile, Kim looks up into the sky to
see a faint glow in the northeast. Palmer can also
see the light of the bomb from his plane.

A mushroom cloud grows over the desert.
