24 Villains: "When Plan A fails, you should have a Plan B, not Plan A recycled"

24 has had a lot of memorable villains in its four seasons: Nina, Ira Gaines, the Salazars, Sherry, Marie, Mandy, the Drazens, Saunders, Amador, Dina, Marwan, plus assorted minions like Faux Alan Yorke, poor shoveled-to-death Tariq etc..
Here's a thread where you can discuss these characters, share your favourite moments, debate who was the best/worst evil-doer, post pictures, etc.

Thanks so much for this thread Cati. I think its a great idea. If it weren't for the villains...24 wouldn't really exist.

What a great thread!

Well my favorite villain will always be Nina! I started watching 24 on its second season, so she was already a villain in the show. And I loved seen her on screen, it felt like "oh here comes the real action!", the story always got better when she was there, I don't know why.
I don't know if it's just me, but sometimes I thought it funny to see how Jack always ended up trusting her, when he asked her to help. I mean it was so obvious that she was coming with another evil plan, but it was like he always thought it could be different this time, I don't know. And I think that, if she hadn't threatened Kim in season 3, maybe he wouldn't have killed her, because he could have done that earlier, but it was like "something" kept him from doing it, I don't know if you guys felt like this too. I think he must have trusted her a lot, isn't it? I mean, when they worked together, I don't know much about their relationship in season 1, but they seemed to be very close to each other.

Thanks for getting the discussion started!

Nina will always be my favourite villain too although I see the Jack/Nina relationship differently. I never got the impression Jack trusted her after Terri's death. After that I think all he felt for Nina was burning hatred and it was reflected in his eyes every time he looked at her. I think any of his actions that might be interpreted as trusting was just simply, he didn't have another option or he was taking a calculated risk.

I think he always meant to kill her. The only thing that held him back was his sense of duty. As soon as he realized she had no more useful information, nothing that could help him save millions of lives, he gave in to his desire to kill her.

Nina was nothing to him after she betrayed him and took Terri's life. Jack has done a lot of things that he hates in the line of duty and working alongside Nina was one of them. I don't think it shows he trusts and/or feels something for her, just that doing his job is most important to him.

Nina will always be my fave villain. It will always be interesting to go back and watch Nina in season one before her evil was revealed. After she killed Teri that was it...Jack felt nothing more than hatred.

My favorite villians were the Salazars. I liked the dynamic between the two and they were both played by very convincing actors. It's strange, even though they were horrible human beings, I felt bad when Hector got blown away by his brother and when the other one (name is escaping me right now) blew up with the virus.

The Salazars were great to watch. I almost felt bad when Hector was blown away.

I really like Dina. She evolved from the clever dragon lady who killed her son's GF to a mother willing to do anything to save her son's life to the noble woman who sacrificed herself for Jack. Her character development was among the best of the season.

The Salazars were fascinating villains. I loved watching their aspirations clash and their relationship inevitably combust. I liked that the viewer never knew what to expect from Ramon and Hector; they were loose cannons and their plan could change at any moment because they were always letting their emotions get in the way.

See, the Salazars didn't really interest me. I don't know why, they were good villians.

Nina...although she didn't kill as many people as a lot of the other 24 villians (that we know of anyway), with her it was more personal. I think that is why she is a classic villian.

Marie Warner always freaked me out. Her craziness was unsettling and Laura Harris did a great job playing a damn psycho. The look she gives after she kills Reza...Creepy.

Sherry was not a villain. She had a conscience (she saved the day in season 2 because she knew she made a mistake. She took the risk to be kill at this moment) on the contrary to all the others.

Ira Gaines, Nina, Saunders and Dina are my favorites in the real villains.

I agree with that... she was creepy, and that was a great season.

After that I think all he felt for Nina was burning hatred and it was reflected in his eyes every time he looked at her. The only reason he gave her that gun in season 2 was because he had no choice. There was no way he could fight off those Commandos by himself. And I think all of his other actions that could be seen as trusting was just simply, he didn't have any other option.
I understand what you said Cati, and maybe you're right, I don't know, like I've said before, I don't know much about their relationship before Nina killed Teri, even though I have read everything about htis it's not the same as actually watching the show. But, as long as it makes sense, I think there can be two or more interpretations on why Jack didn't kill her before.
Well, my English is not the best, so sometimes it's hard to find the right words to express my opinions, but I will try to explain my point of view again. When I said "trust", I didn't mean "friendship" or anything like that. What I meant is that Jack always believed what she said when he asked her to help, to get informations. I'll give an example- do you remember when Jack had to dial some numbers that Nina told him?and then he found out it was a plan to ruin the CTU computers? It was SO obvious (at least for me) that it was a plan, how could Jack (who knew her evil so well) NOT see it coming??

I don't know if I made it clear now but well, each one can have a different opinion, and what you said makes sense too, I agree with that. Like I said, there can be more than one interpretation.

Well, as for the other villains, I really didn't like Marie....I thought she was just insane, she didn't seem to have a cause to fight for. Actually I thought she was annoying....
