12:00 A.M.-1:00 A.M.1.Season: 1 Episode: 1 First Aired: 11/6/2001 Prod Code: 1AFF79

4:00 P.M.-4:02 P.M., Kuala Lumpur: Agent Victor Rovner is transmitting data over his computer, just as "they" come knocking.

12:02 A.M.-12:03 A.M., Los Angeles: Agent Richard Walsh receives a call that Senator Palmer is being targeted by terrorists, while Palmer is on the balcony of his hotel room headquarters writing his campaign speech with Patty, his manager.

12:03 A.M.-12:07 A.M.: Kimberly tells Jack she's glad he moved back in and smoothed over apparent problems with Teri. After Kimberly goes to bed, Jack and Teri talk about how she doesn't like her mother, and plays her parents against each other. They both soon discover she snuck out. Finding her has to wait when Jack receives a call from his co-worker, Agent Nina Myers. Nina says Walsh has called him to a meeting. Jack calls Kimberly's ex, Vincent, on the way to his car. No matter how much Jack threatens the kid, Vincent says she's not there.

12:07 A.M.-12:09 A.M.: Kimberly and her friend Janet are in Janet's car, on their way to see Janet's friends, Dan and Rick, for some action. From his car, Jack calls Nina to ask what Walsh wants. Nina doesn't know. Neither does anyone else.

12:09 A.M.-12:12 A.M., Outside the Counter Terrorist Unit (CTU), Jack calls Teri to ask her to go easy on Kimberly when she gets home. Teri wants to take her to a therapist. Inside, Jack meets with Nina and Agent Tony Almeida. While waiting for Walsh, Tony worries if they screen Palmer, people will think it's because he's black, which it is. Kimberly and Janet arrive at the furniture store where Dan works. Kimberly meets Rick, her fix-up. They all have a party and trash the place.

12:12 A.M.-12:20 A.M.: Reporter Maureen Kingsley is on the news making the announcement that polls open at 7:00 A.M., and Palmer is expected to clinch the election. Walsh gets there, and tells Jack and the rest of CTU that a foreign power -- presumably a hate group -- is after Palmer, so they should do a check on all of Palmer's foreign co-workers. Walsh has a private meeting with Jack to say there may be a connection inside the agency. Jack doesn't want to point fingers at his friends, but since he's the only guy Walsh can trust, Walsh coaxes him into it. The last thing he tells Jack is that the District Director, George Mason, is on his way to brief him. And to trust no one. Meanwhile, a suspicious foreign man is on a plane bound for Los Angeles.

12:22 A.M.-12:25 A.M.: Patty receives a call from photographer Martin -- the suspicious foreign man -- who says he'll be there in an hour. He asks if he'll see Palmer at breakfast later. Patty says he will. An equally suspicious woman sitting next to him is intrigued that he's meeting Palmer.

12:25 A.M.-12:29 A.M.: Jack tells Nina that he's meeting Mason alone, but she's not happy that he's hiding the rest of the story from her. Teri calls Jack because she found drugs in Kimberly's room. Jack suggests Teri snoop in Kimberly's email, but they don't know the password. While Kimberly and Rick get to know each other better, she tells him that she's trying to get over the recent death of her father. George Mason arrives at headquarters, and explains to Jack that the terrorist is likely German and will be in L.A. today, if he isn't already. He gives Jack a clearance card that will get him in anywhere, and shares some additional info -- Palmer's no friend of the agency. But he refuses to say who gave him the card when Jack asks.

12:29 A.M.-12:34 A.M.: Mason pretends to give in to Jack's wishes to call his superior to find out whose card it was. After Jack eavesdrops on the call (to the operator), he shoots Mason with a tranquilizer dart, which he lets Nina witness. Jack confides that he suspects Mason of stealing seized money from a drug bust. He gives Nina Mason's card, and coaxes her into getting some good blackmail info before he comes to.

12:38 A.M.-12:40 A.M.: Alan York, Janet's father, calls Teri, because he found her number in Janet's rolodex. He doesn't know where she is, and suspects the two girls are together. Nina can't get the info Jack wants, as the account is encrypted. Jack thinks Tony can, and wants Nina to ask.

12:40 A.M.-12:43 A.M.: Nina asks Tony to hack the account. Tony grudgingly asks if she's still sleeping with Jack. Even though they were dirty, he resents Jack for turning in his own people. Jack gets CTU hacker Jamey to find out Kimberly's email password. It's "lifesucks," which he gives Teri over the phone. Kimberly and Rick have struck a match. But not so much as Janet and Dan, who are doing it in one of the store's beds.

12:43 A.M.-12:46 A.M.: Martin and the suspicious woman are striking up a match of their own. Palmer takes a break from his speech to spend time with his wife, Sherry. Maureen Kingsley calls Palmer for a response to an incriminating allegation she plans to air. Sherry wants to know what's up, but the concerned senator turns silent.

12:49 A.M.-12:52 A.M.: Nina worries that Jack, who should be patching things up with his family, could wind up in jail. Jack puts himself in the shoes of the so-called bad guys he ratted out. They compromised once, and now so has he. Teri calls Alan back with the contents of Kimberly's email, which reveal where the girls went. Kimberly, Janet, Dan and Rick are about to go to another party, until Kimberly sees Teri left a message. She wants to go home, so Dan says he'll drop her off.

12:52 A.M.-12:57 A.M.: Martin and the suspicious woman are making like Janet and Dan, albeit vertically, in the airplane's bathroom. After they're done, the woman introduces herself as Mandy. Jack gets his evidence against Mason, and wakes him up to say that if he doesn't reveal who tipped off the Palmer hit, he'll rat him out too. Mason reveals, then leaves. While Martin is dozing off, Mandy steals his wallet, takes out a stewardess, gets her bag, puts on a flight suit, starts a timed bomb on the plane, and blasts herself safely out the exit door seconds before the plane explodes.

12:57 A.M.-1:00 A.M.: As Teri and Alan are driving to the Valley to try to find the girls, Jack calls to find out what's up, but something kills the call before he learns much. He has to put family matters on hold again when Tony tells him a 747 just exploded over the Mojave Desert, probably due to a bomb. Jack wants Walsh and the passenger list. Kimberly freaks when Dan deliberately goes the opposite direction of her house, and refuses to tell her where he's headed. Dan is so high that he nearly crashes into another car -- Alan's. Mandy's parachute opens. Tick, tick, tick...

Episode 2 1am -2 am Season 1

1:00 A.M.-2:00 A.M.2.Season: 1 Episode: 2 First Aired: 11/13/2001 Prod Code: 1AFF01

:02 A.M.-1:07 A.M.: Mandy lands in the Mojave Desert. CTU can't get a hold of Walsh. Tony wants to know what went on between Jack and Mason. Nina concocts a story to shut him up. Mandy buries Martin's ID, attached to a homing receiver, before an accomplice picks her up. A mysterious motorcyclist uses a homing device to recover the ID. Tony knows Nina was lying and confronts her, but she won't talk.

1:07 A.M.-1:09 A.M.: Teri and Alan arrive at the furniture store, and find evidence that the girls were there -- a condom. Still held captive in Dan's van, Kimberly negates her previous story that her dad is dead by telling the guys he's a government agent. They don't care and Janet is too out of it from roofies to help.

1:09 A.M.-1:12 A.M.: Walsh meets secretly with Scott, a nervous CTU agent, who gives him a key card that has the added bonus of containing a lot of secret info about Palmer. Scott fears for his life and wants out of it, but Walsh talks him into helping out for another 24 hours. That time is cut short when an unseen assailant opens fire at the two, killing Scott and injuring Walsh in the arm. Walsh calls Jack and begs him to come to Dunlop Plaza and help him, but another shot rings out and the call goes silent.

1:17 A.M.-1:20 A.M.: While en route to the plaza, Jack calls Teri back. She wants him to come help out, but he has to help Walsh. Teri and Alan plan to wait at the furniture store until the girls return. Rick begs Kimberly to just go along with what they're doing and lets it slip about "these people" they're doing it for. Janet starts choking, but Dan won't stop the car -- even for Rick.

1:20 A.M.-1:22 A.M.: Palmer and Sherry see the 747 explosion on the news. Palmer still won't tell his wife what Maureen Kingsley said.

1:22 A.M.-1:23 A.M.: Mandy and accomplice arrive at the secluded house of Gaines, who gives her a briefcase full of cash and asks for the ID. She says he'll get it soon.

1:23 A.M.-1:24 A.M.: Jack gets to the plaza and calls Nina for an entry code. Tony is monitoring Jack and Nina as he reads a chat transcript of their call on his computer.

1:29 A.M.-1:31 A.M.: Jack finds Walsh. Before they try to make their way out, Walsh says there were at least two shooters, but Jack found no one else. In Gaines' bathroom, Mandy comes face to face with another accomplice who, through the magic of plastic surgery, has been transformed into the spitting image of Martin (albeit with blonde hair). And he plans to kill Palmer.

1:31 A.M.-1:36 A.M.: Tony confronts Nina a second time. She lies again and reminds him she's his superior. Tony makes a veiled threat that she isn't after they punch out. On the stairs of the plaza, Jack crafts a tourniquet for Walsh's arm from his tie. Though Jack disagrees, Walsh blames himself. The two plan their safe exit from the building, but run into the assailants. They manage to kill two of them without getting hit. Jack takes a souvenir from one of the bodies -- a thumb.

1:36 A.M.-1:38 A.M.: The mysterious motorcyclist arrives at Gaines' place. She is supposed to hand over Martin's ID, but instead just hands over a Polaroid of it because she wants more money. Gaines orders his accomplice to shoot her, but thinks better of it when he realizes he won't get the ID if he kills her before it's in his possession.

1:42 A.M.-1:44 A.M.: Teri calls Jack so he can help her and Alan get the store owner's number, but he's turned his phone off. So she calls Nina to do it. Nina doesn't want to, but caves in.

1:44 A.M.-1:45 A.M.: The Palmers' kids, Keith and Nicole, arrive back at their hotel room. One of Palmer's aides calls him and Palmer demands he come over now because of Maureen Kingsley.

1:45 A.M.-1:48 A.M.: As Teri and Alan clean up the mess the kids made, Teri mentions her temporary separation with Jack, to which Alan replies that his ex took off and never returned. Nina retrieves the number and calls back Teri with it. Teri calls the owner, but he isn't there, so she leaves a message to come over to the store ASAP. Agent Aaron Pierce shows up at the Palmers' hotel room looking for the senator, but he's gone. Sherry wants to know what's up. Pierce says they've been asked to add another layer of security because there's expected to be an attack on his life today. Outside, Palmer gets in his car and drives off.

1:53 A.M.-1:54 A.M.: As Jack and Walsh try to escape the plaza, Walsh gets shot again. He knows it's the end for him, so he hands Jack Scott's card to give it to Jamey, who can tell him who the dirty agent is. Jack takes it just as Walsh is killed by another round. Jack makes it to his car, leaving Walsh's body behind.

1:54 A.M.-1:56 A.M.: In his car, Jack calls Jamey and tells her to phone Division to have Walsh's and Scott's bodies picked up. When he inquires about the card, Jamey tells him to use his car's mobile scanner to transmit the data to her.

1:56 A.M.-2:00 A.M.: Dan pulls the van over and orders Kimberly out. Dan demands she call her mother and say she's fine and is just at a party. When Kimberly resists, Dan goes to hurt her but Rick stops him, reminding him that Gaines (these people) said not to. So instead Dan takes a crowbar and hurts Janet to get Kimberly to do as told. Teri wants to pick up the girls herself, but Kimberly obviously refuses. After she hangs up, Dan orders her back into the van. Teri suspects something is wrong because Kimberly said "I love you" during the call, which she never says. Jamey gets a match on the card which only Jack's eyes can see -- Nina Myers. Teri and Alan leave the store as Jack and Kimberly are both on the road. The Martin Belkin lookalike practices his aim with an egg. Tick, tick, tick...

EPISODE OVERVIEW :
Jack learns the identity of the agent who may be working against him. He acquires Jamie's help to get evidence.

Palmer finally learns of the damning story about to hit the press, involving his son and a possible murder several years ago.

Kim and Janet manage to escape their captors. Kim is able to get a message to Teri, but an accident results in her recapture.

Tony calls for outside help when he decides that Jack should be relieved of his command.

hour by hour recap

2:02 A.M.-2:05 A.M.: On the road, Jack calls data services to scan in the print from the assailant's thumb and get a match. Teri calls Jack to say she heard from Kimberly. He's furious that Teri couldn't find out where Kimberly is and that she isn't planning to wait for the girls to return at the furniture store, as Alan didn't think it was a good idea. Jack makes Teri put Alan on the phone, so he can give him a piece of his mind.

2:05 A.M.-2:08 A.M.: Gaines has a raging fit at Mandy for involving motorcyclist Bridgit, who has since talked her into wanting an extra million. Gaines claims there is no more money and demands Mandy talk Bridgit back down. Martin's lookalike, Jonathan, tells Gaines he needs to get out of here. Gaines says it'll just be a little longer. At Palmer headquarters, Sherry reminds Agent Pierce this is hardly the first death threat Palmer has gotten since he announced running. Keith wants to look for his father, but Pierce tells him to stay indoors as he could be in danger himself.

2:08 A.M.-2:10 A.M.: Gaines calls Dan to confirm they've got Kimberly, and says to wait as he's running late. Rick fears Dan broke Janet's arm. Dan laughs it off, but when Kimberly begs Rick to take Janet to a doctor, he goes against Dan's wishes, cuts into his stash, and shoots her up.

2:14 A.M.-2:17 A.M.: Senator Palmer pulls in to a parking lot where teenagers are bashing cars with baseball bats. He confronts the hoodlums, who want $100 out of him. When he won't pay up, one of the kids tries to bash him, but he grabs the bat. The other teen then recognizes who they're talking to and asks what is he going to do for them. Palmer warns them if they keep it up, they'll be dead soon so maybe they should do for themselves. The first teen takes his bat and smashes Palmer's rear window before the pair walk away laughing.

2:17 A.M.-2:23 A.M.: Back at CTU, Jack calls Nina and asks her to print up a copy of the passenger list that Tony secured. He also wants to talk to her in private. Next, he sees Jamey and asks if the bodies have been picked up, which they have. Jamey learns one was Walsh. Jack trusts Jamey with the info Walsh gave him, and gives her the keycard he transmitted to her earlier so she can pull all the data off it. But she thinks it could take hours to do that, and Palmer's day begins at 6:00 AM. Also, Jack needs to be absolutely certain it was Nina's computer from which the data was downloaded. Jack bumps into Tony, who notices that Jack's hand is bleeding. Tony says he's checking the passenger list, which he gave to Nina. Finally, Jack sees Nina, who says one of the names on the list triggered a red flag. Nina wants answers, but Jack only asks if it's possible someone within the agency is involved in the plot. Jack asks if she's seeing Tony, which she doesn't appreciate. Jamey calls Jack; she's confirmed that the files definitely came from Nina's computer. Jack tells Nina to send the passenger list to Division. Data services calls Jack to say they couldn't come up with any print matches. Either the man doesn't exist or his identity was erased.

2:27 A.M.-2:32 A.M.: Mandy tells Bridgit to hand over the ID if she doesn't want to get both of them killed. Bridgit says she's doing it for both of them, and believes neither Gaines nor anybody can hurt them -- and they'll each have a million to show for it. Oh yeah, and they're also lesbian lovers. Inside Dan's van, Janet regains consciousness but doesn't remember what's happened until Kimberly fills her in. Dan and Rick are away from the van smoking a joint, so Kimberly takes Janet and makes a run for it. Dan and Rick soon follow in hot pursuit. Jamey wants to know from Jack if Nina is a traitor and should she close off her access, but Jack doesn't want her to. Jamey knows he and Nina were seeing each other and asks if Jack told her anything confidential that he shouldn't have. Jack thinks about it, and tells Jamey to close off Nina's access.

2:32 A.M.-2:34 A.M.: Kimberly and Janet hide out in an alley, where they scare off a male prostitute's trick (who wasn't too keen on getting a BJ with them watching). The prostitute's angry at losing a sale, but covers for Kimberly and Janet anyway when Dan and Rick catch up. Gaines calls Dan to say they're now meeting at a new location. The prostitute ransacks the girls' belongings to cover for lost wages and then leaves. The girls make their getaway.

2:39 A.M.-2:41 A.M.: Palmer meets with Carl, the person he called earlier, to say he learned from Maureen Kingsley that a Gibson boy who raped Nicole didn't commit suicide, but was thrown out of a window -- by Keith. That's what she's going public with. Palmer believes it's a lie and wants to know the source. Carl tells him he'll take care of everything, so just go back and forget about it. The agents show up to reclaim the senator, and Carl departs.

2:41 A.M.-2:43 A.M.: Kimberly and Janet are stuck in the alley with Dan and Rick still in the area. They run into the prostitute again in his "home." Kimberly begs for help and a phone. Jealous that they're rich, the prostitute pulls a knife and chases them out.

2:43 A.M.-2:48 A.M.: Jack throws Nina into a wall and confronts her with the card, demanding to know who she works for. Nina says she works for him. Gaines gives in and forks over the extra million in exchange for the ID. Kimberly and Janet are cornered in a warehouse by Dan. They exit back into the alley and find a pimp who's talking on his cell phone. Kimberly begs for some help, but the pimp attacks her. The prostitute intervenes with a board and bashes the pimp, yelling at the girls to take his phone and run. While they do that, the pimp wrestles the board away from the prostitute and bashes him with it, as Dan and Rick get there.

2:52 A.M.-2:56 A.M.: Tony sees over the computer that Walsh is dead. Jamey plays dumb and fakes shock when Tony shows her. Tony wants her help, but she says she's helping Jack at the moment. Jack calls Jamey about the data. She's almost got it all. Tony knows something's up. Gaines, Mandy and Bridgit drive into the woods. Bridgit recovers the ID and gives it to Gaines. Mandy and Bridgit begin to walk away holding hands, until Jonathan shoots Bridgit from behind. Apparently they can hurt them since Bridgit is dead. Gaines asks a teary Mandy if she's in for a certain job this summer. She coldly says yes. Mandy and Gaines drive off, without Bridgit's body.

2:56 A.M.-2:57 A.M.: Jack believes Nina as both of them are meeting with Jamey, who explains when the info was taken via Nina's computer. It happened when she and Jack were on vacation together. After Jamey leaves, Jack apologizes to Nina, but it's not good enough for her. Jack tries to learn who hacked Nina's account. Tony calls someone to come relieve Jack of his command.

2:57 A.M.-3:00 A.M.: Kimberly calls Teri to get them. She gives the location, and then hangs up because Dan and Rick are coming. Kimberly motions for Janet to go ahead, as she plans to try to fend them off, but Janet gets hit by a car. Kimberly screams, as she can't revive her. The guys drag Kimberly off and leave Janet in the street, not needing her. Teri and Alan are driving, while the agents have returned Palmer to headquarters. Janet is still alive. Tick, tick, tick...

4:00 A.M.-5:00 A.M..Season:1 Episode:5 First Aired: 12/11/2001

EPISODE OVERVIEW
Jack takes drastic action to gain the cooperation of the only man who knows how to save Kim, but Mason's interference threatens to ruin Jack's advantage.

Kim is delivered to Gaines and she learns just how ruthless he can be when he's crossed. Meanwhile, Teri and Alan watch over Janet in surgery.

Palmer talks to the reporter who plans to break the story about Keith and she shows him proof to back up her claims.

4:02 A.M.-4:02 A.M.: The St. Mark's Hospital staff prep Janet for surgery.

4:02 A.M.-4:06 A.M.: While in custody in a police car, the bad guy turns around to see Jack is following them. Teri and Alan arrive at the hospital, all shaken up, to inquire about the girl that was recently brought in. They are told it's a Jane Doe, so the two disobey orders to find out for themselves if it's Kimberly or Janet. From outside the operating room, they see that it's Janet. Jack calls Nina from his car to ask if they found Kimberly. In tears, Teri reveals where she and Alan are and everything they went through the past hour. She begs Jack to please get there as she's losing her mind without him. Jack needs to know more about the address Kimberly gave her, but she doesn't know any more. And he finds he can't talk to Janet either as she's in surgery. He promises to be at the hospital as soon as he takes care of business. Rick puts a tied-up Kimberly into the backseat of Gaines' car as she carries on. Gaines is on the phone with someone telling them Kimberly is there and Rick and Dan said Janet was dead. After he hangs up, Gaines tells the guys there's another change of plans and they have to drive to the compound to get there money. And to make sure to take a different route from him so they won't look like a caravan. Realizing Gaines is psycho, Rick wants to split, but there's no way Dan is going to forfeit the $20,000 they were promised for this job. Not to mention that Rick owes Dan for something or other. Gaines drives off with Kimberly, as Rick decides to get into Dan's van.

4:06 A.M.-4:09 A.M.: At Palmer Headquarters, the senator orders Patty to go to bed as she's exhausted from working on his speech. Sherry pleads with him not to say anything to Keith or Nicole as they don't even know whether Maureen Kingsley is telling the truth. Palmer disagrees, as he wants the kids to be prepared. Nicole talks to her father about how she believes the election is in the bag. She's gone so far as to invite people to a victory party.

4:09 A.M.-4:12 A.M.: At CTU, Nina tells Jack over the phone that Mason ended lockdown after finding out where he was. Jack says he's at the precinct and needs Nina to contact Ryan Sealey, a man who can help Jack get an police override so he can go interrogate the bad guy. Nina goes to ask Tony for Sealey's number. He in turn asks her if she's still mad at him for precipitating the lockdown. She is, but Tony's not apologetic since Jack has been lying to both of them. In the precinct, forthcoming override or not, the desk sergeant won't let Jack see the bad guy. Jack asks to talk to the lieutenant instead, but he won't. So Jack lies and tells sarge that Jessie Hampton was helping him investigate a federal case. That works. But just as the sergeant's about to open the cell for Jack, in walks Mason and company to put a halt to it.

4:16 A.M.-4:19 A.M.: While in transit, Rick blasts Dan for letting Gaines take Kimberly. Dan says if Rick has the hots for her, then he should have done something by himself. When Rick says he doesn't want Kimberly to get hurt, Dan laughs -- she's seen all their faces, so there isn't a chance in hell she's getting out of there unhurt. Perhaps Gaines killed her already. But all Dan cares about is the $10,000 cash they were each promised to kidnap her. Mason escorts Jack -- whom he considers a prime suspect in the murder of Walsh -- into a private room, refusing to let him go until he confesses what he was doing at Dunlop Plaza. Jack explains that Walsh and Scott Baylor were killed because they obtained information about the Palmer hit, and if he doesn't want to see Palmer get killed then he better stop impeding his progress. Mason lets Jack go. Gaines pulls over to the side of the road take a call. A bus pulls up next to his car, and Kimberly starts kicking the window, hoping the driver will see her there. Gaines puts a gun to her head to make her stop, drives into an alley, and reassigns her to the trunk.

4:19 A.M.-4:23 A.M.: Palmer calls Maureen Kingsley, hoping to talk about things. Since she's staying in the same hotel, they agree to meet in a conference room in 10 minutes. Teri and Alan talk with an officer about Kimberly's disappearance. Jack calls Teri to say that the police brought in a suspect who may know where Kimberly is, and she and Alan have to talk to Janet as soon as she's out of surgery. Mason returns to give Jack some good news -- the bad guy won't talk to anyone but him. Jack goes in and starts badgering him, as Mason and the others secretely watch from outside. Jack says something the bad guy doesn't like, causing him to call the officers to get Jack out of there. So Jack throws him into a wall and continues roughing him up until Mason's boys barge in and break it up, while the bad guy yells that he wants a phone call. Outside, Mason beats down Jack for messing up.

4:23 A.M.-4:25 A.M.: Jack ducks into a private corridor to wait for an important call -- the bad guy's. The two set the whole thing up. The bad guy says he won't tell Jack where Kimberly is unless Jack can get him out, because the people he answers to will call him in 20 minutes, and will know something's up when he's not at a certain pay phone to take it. Jack needs to get Penticoff to that phone, or else the one chance he has to find Kimberly will be blown. They hang up, and Jack calls Nina to give her the bad guy's name -- Penticoff -- and request that she trace all available lines within the area of the street address Penticoff gave him where he's supposed to be waiting. After explaining why he needs it, Nina wonders how he expects his voice to pass for Penticoff's. Jack says he won't have to, since they'll be hearing Penticoff's voice. Nina learns something she doesn't want to hear: Jack is planning a jailbreak.

4:29 A.M.-4:32 A.M.: Jack pulls aside Officer Phillips, who transferred Penticoff to the holding cell, explaining that he needs to see him. Jessie Hampton was Phillips' partner, and since he wants to see Penticoff go down for it without getting off on a technicality because of Jack, he'll only let Jack in with him there. Jack is fine with that. As the second half of their set-up, Jack badgers Penticoff until he goes off again and Phillips tries to break it up. Jack then provokes Phillips by asking where he is when his partner needed him. Phillips responds in rage by wrestling Jack to the ground, as another officer comes in, pulls them apart and escorts Jack in. In the middle of the scuffle, Penticoff was able to steal Phillips' keycard, and escorts himself out of jail.

4:32 A.M.-4:36 A.M.: Alan explains Janet's status to Teri. When she says she wishes Jack were there, he says he does too. The secret service scan Maureen Kingsley for weapons before letting her into the conference room with Palmer. Kingsley, Palmer and his family were old friends whose careers took off together. And now they're on opposite sides of the fence. Kingsley tells him she wishes she didn't get the info, but it's murder and she has to come forward with it. Palmer claims it's rumor, and wants to know her source. At first unwilling, Kingsley comes out with her two sources. George Ferragamo is one; he's the one who told Kingsley. The other is a hospital record for a teenage boy named Edward Johnson who admitted himself shortly after Gibson's death for cuts and bruises similar to the ones listed on Gibson's autopsy record. Kingsley had Edward Johnson's signature analyzed. It's Keith's handwriting. Palmer still refuses to believe it, and threatens Kingsley to do what she has to do, but be prepared to accept the consequences.

4:40 A.M.-4:43 A.M.: Palmer wakes up Keith and confronts him about Gibson. When Keith refuses to answer his father's questions, the senator grabs him and shakes him demanding he answer. After restraining himself, Palmer leaves.

4:43 A.M.-4:47 A.M.: Mason apologizes to the desk sergeant for Jack's actions and requests he keep this under wraps. Phillips comes in to say he'll start processing Penticoff when they're done with him. The desk sergeant asks what Phillips is doing there since he thought he left. Then he checks the computer, which shows he did leave. Uh oh. Teri tells Alan she feels guilty over the things she said to Kimberly when she found she was failing algebra, and that she wished Kimberly would get out. She feels they made a mistake by going to the hospital instead of waiting. Alan comforts her by promising to stay together until Kimberly is found. Mason helps the officers pinpoint Jack's and Penticoff's location via police security footage.

4:47 A.M.-4:48 A.M.: Jack and Penticoff get out of his car to wait by the pay phone where Penticoff's expecting his call. Jack gets on the phone with Nina to make sure she's getting the trace. He also asks Penticoff who the guys are that will call him, but he doesn't know their names. The pay phone rings, but Nina can't pick up the frequency. Jack realizes they're screwed -- the people are calling Penticoff from a cell phone. Penticoff takes the call anyway. It's Gaines, and he tells him to take a set of keys and a remote that were taped behind the phone. The remote will help find a parked car and the keys will open the trunk, which has a body in it which Gaines wants disposed of. Gaines hangs up, and Jack asks Penticoff whose body is in the trunk. But Penticoff knows as much as Jack does.

4:53 A.M.-4:57 A.M.: Jack and Penticoff locate the car and the body, but before they can do anything, Mason and crew show up. Jack sells Penticoff short and lets them take him back to jail. Mason wants to take Jack there too, so Jack shows him the body in the trunk. Mason lets Jack off the hook, but asks why he's doing all this. Jack reveals everything Walsh told him and apologizes for misjudging Mason. After agreeing to trust each other from now on, Jack prepares to take the body to CTU while Mason prepares to return to the station to grill Penticoff. On his way to CTU, Jack calls Nina to get their best forensic ready.

4:57 A.M.-5:00 A.M.: While Janet's in surgery, Jack calls Teri to say he'll be there in 20 minutes to explain in person what's going on. Rick and Dan wait until Gaines returns with Kimberly. Dan requests his money now. Gaines requests what really happened to Janet. Dan reiterates that they killed her. But Gaines knows that someone fitting her description was taken to a hospital in the area. Dan chokes and admits that maybe she wasn't quite dead. Gaines explains that you're either dead or you're not. To make his point, he pulls out his gun and sees to it that Dan is quite dead. After Rick and Kimberly hum a few bars of shock and fear, Gaines promotes Rick and warns him not to lie to him like his friend. Back at the hospital, complications from surgery push Janet to death's door as Teri and Alan look on helplessly. Tick, tick, tick...

Palmer is angered when he learns that his family went to great lengths to conceal the truth from him.

Teri receives a message from Nina and discovers that she is in more danger than she realized....

recap

5:02 A.M.-5:04 A.M.: As Teri and Alan watch from outside the operating room, Janet's BP starts crashing. The nurses call in Dr. Collier, who has them shock her with a defibrillator, but the first attempts fail. Jack calls Teri from his car to say he'll be there soon, and warns her not to let anyone suspicious see Janet as she may be in danger. More than you know, pal! After they hang up, Jack meets Nina and has her take the body in Penticoff's car to find out who he is -- which won't be easy since they mutilated his face, pulled his teeth and amputated his fingers. Jack tells Nina about Janet and asks her to keep it secret that he's going to the hospital. A helicopter he summoned arrives and picks him up, just as Tony comes charging out demanding to find out from Nina why Jack called for one without giving a destination. She tells him off.

5:04 A.M.-5:06 A.M.: Gaines tells Kimberly this is what happens when you lie and warns Rick not to ever lie to him. He hands Rick a shovel to get rid of Dan's body. Kimberly tries to appeal to Rick by saying he'll end up just like Dan if they don't work together, but he angrily shuts her up.

5:06 A.M.-5:10 A.M.: Palmer calls Carl to the hotel, and beats the truth out of him -- that he covered up Keith's crime and altered the hospital records. After making sure Palmer really wants to know the truth, Carl admits Keith came to him to confess murdering Lyle Gibson, but claimed it was self-defense as Gibson pulled a knife on him. Palmer asks why didn't they go to the police to confess if it was only self-defense, but Carl thinks it would have ruined his career anyway -- because Gibson was white. Palmer orders Carl out of his life and out of his family's life. Before he goes, Carl twists the knife by telling the senator that Sherry was in on the cover-up.

5:14 A.M.-5:16 A.M.: Kimberly gets another shovel and helps Rick dig, against his wishes. Rick lets Kimberly know he didn't want to leave Janet there, that no one was supposed to get hurt. Kimberly doesn't want to hear Rick's whining, she only wants him to think of a way to escape.

5:16 A.M.-5:19 A.M.: Jack arrives at the hospital, where he is met by head of security Claude Davenport. Jack thanks him for locking down the hospital so only staff can get in, then is reunited with Teri. Teri lets Jack know Janet is now stable, but not talking yet. Alan introduces himself to Jack. He's relieved that Janet pulled through, but isn't sure he wants Jack to interrogate her when she comes to. Teri is angry and Alan stunned when Jack treats Alan like a suspect by questioning if he knew who Kimberly and Janet went out with. Teri pulls Jack aside to tell him Alan was with her all night, but the conversation is cut short when Jack sees Davenport fighting with a guy who is trying to barge his way into the hospital so he can see his brother. The guy angrily walks past Davenport and Jack with a suspicious briefcase, so Jack jumps him and dumps out the contents: a bunch of pills, which he says are his medication. A nurse comes by to calm down the guy about the status of his brother, letting Jack know he's clean.

5:19 A.M.-5:22 A.M.: Sherry asks Palmer what Carl wanted. When he comes out with it, she believes Carl was just feeding him a story. Palmer puts her on the spot by sternly asking why SHE was feeding HIM a story. Sherry says they hid it from him because they were protecting his career, but he thinks she was protecting her own career. Sherry says they need to do everything they can to keep the truth from coming out, but he says it's too late. She reminds him then he'll be losing a lot more than the election, and asks if he really wants to send Keith to jail. He's got no answer for her.

5:27 A.M.-5:29 A.M.: Kimberly and Rick talk about how Dan and Janet acted like they were invincible, and how they wish they could turn back the clock (well, they could in episode 2). Gaines returns and orders Kimberly to come with him and Rick to finish the job. Jack calls Nina from the hospital to find out if she's got anything on the body. There's no ID yet, but the time of death was estimated between 11:00 P.M. and midnight last night. Nina tells him they're doing tissue samples to identify it, but Jack makes her call that off as it will take more time than they have.

5:29 A.M.-5:33 A.M.: Teri apologizes to Alan for the way Jack treated him. She says she's accepted how wound up he is. He thinks they'll be able to find Kimberly once Janet wakes up. Jack ends his call with Nina and pulls Teri aside to finally tell her why he was called to work last night -- and that Kimberly was kidnapped because of him. When Teri bursts into tears, Jack consoles her. She wants him to call the police, but he can't. Besides, he knows the kidnappers need Kimberly alive.

5:37 A.M.-5:39 A.M.: Jamey is not happy when Nina takes her off the key card assignment, gives it to Milo, an outside contractor, and reassigns her to forensics. Palmer wakes up his chief of staff, Mike, in the middle of the night to talk to him. Alan has good news for Jack and Teri -- Janet is out of surgery and has pulled through. Jack apologizes to Alan. Nina calls Jack to say they found a surgical pin in the body's ankle which is one-of-a-kind and should be able to identify it.

5:39 A.M.-5:42 A.M.: Mike reaffirms to Palmer that the minute Maureen Kingsley breaks the story, he's guaranteed to lose. But unlike Palmer, Mike doesn't think he should drop out, because he has responsibilities as the first African-American candidate. Mike tries to reassure Palmer that he wasn't a part of the coverup and didn't even know, but that's not reassurement to him because it just means he doesn't know anything about his family. Mike asks the senator if he really wants the job, then he needs to beat Kingsley to the punch and come out with the story himself at the breakfast...regardless of how that will make his family feel.

5:42 A.M.-5:47 A.M.: Dr. Collier tells Alan there's nothing Janet won't recover from, explains the complications in surgery, and is optimistic that she'll pull through. Jack asks Collier if he can ask Janet a few questions now. She's not comfortable with that, so she leaves it in Alan's hands. Alan says he'll go in first to make sure Janet is up to it. Jack gets a call, believing it's Nina. But it's Gaines, who threatens Jack won't see Kimberly again if he doesn't do what he's told. When Gaines makes it clear he's watching him, Jack looks around the hospital and spots the surveillance camera the terrorists intercepted. Gaines makes Jack smile at Teri and walk away from her towards the exit. Dr. Collier lets Alan in to see Janet and gives them time alone. In a daze, Janet says hi to her father -- until her vision clears up, she doesn't know who he is, and asks where IS her father. Before anybody can answer, Alan takes her oxygen mask and smothers her until she flatlines.

5:51 A.M.-5:54 A.M.: In the hospital's garage, Gaines orders Jack to get into a silver Taurus. Jack refuses to do anymore until he can talk to Kimberly to confirm she's okay. Gaines lets Kimberly have two seconds with him before he pulls her off the phone and tells Jack to take a metal box out of the glove compartment. Inside is a small transmitter, which Jack is told to put in his ear, then throw his phone out the window, pick up the keys, start the car, and go to CTU.

5:54 A.M.-5:57 A.M.: Nina calls Jack to check up, but obviously only gets his answering message. Alan returns to tell her what Janet "said" -- some boys got rough with them, she isn't sure if Kimberly got away, but she knows the address where they may be holding her. He thinks maybe they can take it to the police. Teri says Jack is the police, and panicks when she can neither get through to him nor find him. She plans to go to the address herself, until Alan says she'll take her since Dr. Collier says Janet will be fine without him. They exit the hospital together as Teri continues to look for her husband. Rick pulls Dan's body into the grave he dug, as another captor returns Kimberly to the scene. Rick apologizes to Dan before he starts shovelling. Kimberly tells Rick she spoke to her dad, whom she believes will get them out of this. Rick is skeptical since Jack doesn't even know where they are. Kimberly grabs her shovel.

5:57 A.M.-6:00 A.M.: Milo goes to Jamey to ask if she used a certain method on the keycard, because it's faster than what she was doing. She's resentful of him. Nina tells Jamey they just made the identification. Teri and Alan are in his car, on their way to the address. Teri notices a deep scratch on Alan's wrist which she didn't notice before. Alan says he got it back at the furniture store. Nina calls Teri to say she can't get through to Jack. Teri says he went to take a call, and...wait a second, wasn't it from her? But Nina says she hasn't spoken to Jack in half an hour. She asks Teri that when she does find out where Jack is to tell him that they just found out the murder victim's name. It's Alan York. Tick, tick, tick...

24 Season 1 Ep 7

Season: 1 Episode: 10 First Aired: 2/5/2002

FOX Broadcasting Company: 24

9:00 A.M.
Medics work on Jamey’s wrist wounds and move her out of the building. Nina notifies the rest of the office that Jamey tried to commit suicide, but she urges everyone to get back to work. Jack calls Nina from his car for help getting around the roadblocks that the police have set up to trap him. Teri, using the phone she stole from Eli, calls CTU again, and Nina connects her to Jack. Just as Teri is about to speak, Eli and Rick enter the barn to look for Eli’s phone. Jack listens as Teri hides the phone from the distrustful Eli. Although Rick notices that the phone is sitting on a rafter, he tells Eli nothing. With the call still connected to CTU, Milo continues his attempts to trace the call.

9:09 A.M.
In a limousine on their way to an appearance at Grant Elementary School, Sherry argues with Palmer. She is still opposed to his releasing the story about the accusations against Keith.

9:12 A.M.
Although Milo has narrowed Teri’s location down, it is still too large of an area to pinpoint the exact spot. Tony finds an encrypted email on Jamey’s computer and has Milo decode it. Nina and Tony receive news that Jamey has died in the hospital.

9:18 A.M.
After Eli leaves, Teri gives Nina and Jack clues to lead to her location. As he speaks to her, Jack gets pulled over by the police. When the officers approach his car, Jack peels away and the squad car gives chase. Jack pulls into a crowded parking lot and gets out of the car. The policemen follow, but Jack expertly evades them. While hiding underneath a car, Jack draws more information from Teri about where she has been taken. He then asks her to include Kim on the call, and Jack pledges his love to them, vowing to come to their rescue.

9:26 A.M.
Eli returns, and Teri hides the phone again. Jack and Nina listen as Eli attacks Kim. Suddenly, the cell phone beeps when its signal starts to die. Eli finds the phone. When he puts it to his ear, Jack threatens him about hurting Teri and Kim. Eli hangs up. He goes to notify Gaines, but Rick stops him with a warning: Gaines will not be happy to learn that Teri and Kim called for help with the phone Eli lost. Nina dejectedly tells Jack that they were unable to get the trace before the call was abruptly ended.

9:32 A.M.
Still hiding from the police in the parking lot, Jack hotwires a car. He pulls out onto the street and escapes. Tony tells Jack that he found the name Ted Cofell on Jamey’s computer. Jack finds out where Coffell works and Jack decides to go there—it’s the only lead he had. He warns Tony that Gaines may still make contact with Jamey because he doesn’t know that she is dead.

Gaines attempts to send a message to Jamey, but receives no response. Andre Drazen calls from a Lear jet on his way to Los Angeles. He and his brother are upset that the Palmer assassination has not been completed. Gaines assures him that the job will be accomplished by the end of the day. Drazen threatens that he will instruct Cofell to empty the bank account from which Gaines was to be paid. It becomes clear that Gaines has only a monetary interest in seeing Palmer killed. To the Drazens, it’s personal.

9:36 A.M.
Sherry calls Carl, Palmer’s former political “fix-it” guy, and asks him to prevent Maureen Kingsley from running the story. Although he won’t divulge his actions, Carl admits to “taking care” of the evidence against Keith.

9:38 A.M.
Jamey’s email shows a $1 million wire transfer to Gaines from a Swiss bank account. Since Cofell is involved in finance, he is probably the one who made the transfer. After Nina briefs him on Cofell’s background, Jack calls the man’s office and pretends to be an old friend. He learns that Cofell will be leaving at 10:00 a.M.

9:43 A.M.
Tony informs Nina that a temporary replacement for Jack is being sent to run the CTU field office. It is Alberta Green, who used to work under Nina, but it’s clear that there’s no love lost between Nina and Green.

9:45 A.M.
Kim asks her mother why Jack had moved out. Teri explains that after Jack was away on a mission, he returned home distant and angry. Although separating for a while, they decided to get back together.

9:46 A.M.
Tony learns that Cofell is scheduled to take a private plane to Denver, but he does not know if there is any connection is to Gaines. Alberta Green arrives at CTU, and Nina introduces the staff to the Acting Director. Jack has been indefinitely relieved of his duties, and Green announces that Jack is now a fugitive wanted in the assassination attempt of Palmer. Finding him is their first mission.

9:50 A.M.
While reporters watch, Palmer talks to the kids at the Watts School. Palmer’s chief of staff, Mike Novick, receives a call from Frank Ames, Palmer’s biggest campaign donor. Ames has learned of the accusations against Keith triggered by the confessions of Keith’s therapist, Dr. George Ferragamo. He is wary that two other contributors ordered Carl to get rid of the therapist. Scared of becoming involved in something so scandalous, Ames tells Palmer he is disavowing himself from the campaign. Palmer is furious, and has Novick contact Carl.

9:56 A.M.
Nina lies to Green, saying that she has not spoken to Jack. Green is aware of Nina and Jack’s past relationship, and she suspects that Nina is hiding something.

Jack arrives at Cofell’s office, but Cofell is already in the elevator. Jack pulls the fire alarm, and Cofell’s elevator stops, giving Jack time to dart down the stairwell. In the garage, Jack approaches Cofell’s driver. Cofell arrives in the garage and gets inside his limo. He does not notice that Jack is at the wheel.

9:59 A.M.
Kimberly notices Teri grab her belly and wince slightly in pain. She asks Teri if Eli had hurt her, but Teri says no.

Season 1 Ep 8

7:00 A.M.-8:00 A.M.Season:1 Episode: 8 First Aired: 1/15/2002
EPISODE OVERVIEW
Nina and Tony discover the identity of the mole who is working for Gaines.

Teri and Kim are finally reunited.

Still under Gaines' control, Jack goes to the Palmer breakfast, where he learns what Gaines has planned for him. Jack manages to foil the assassination attempt, but is captured by Secret Service in the process.

Recap

7:02 A.M.-7:08 A.M.: As Nina is leaving the scene of the crime, the California primary opens. Jonathan's on his way to the breakfast when Gaines rings him to make sure he's in. Sherry asks Palmer if he's decided what he's going to do. He says he's rewritten his speech, which now includes the truth. Keith and his father have an argument, as Keith expects he'll be going to prison for killing a white man. Before Jonathan gets past security, Palmer's press assistant, Jessica Abrams, introduces herself, as she's a big fan. Pierce runs a check on Jonathan, and gives him clearance. Gaines' thugs bring Teri into his compound. Gaines orders Jack to pull over at a bus stop. A man waiting there has been expecting Jack, and gives him a briefcase. Jack won't carry on until he can speak to his family, so Gaines lets his new arrival have a word on the phone before making him drive to the power plant where the breakfast is being held. Gaines tells Teri she'll be released within an hour if Jack does as told. She asks to see Kimberly, so the thugs take her there.

7:08 A.M.-7:11 A.M.: Back at CTU, Jamey sees she's gotten a message, retrieves a handheld device from her desk, and leaves her station. Milo, who's in a bad mood, stops her to ask what happened to Nina and what he should do with the keycard. Jamey doesn't care, brushes him off, goes into the ladies' room, locks herself in a stall, turns on her handheld, and takes the message. It's from Gaines, who -- surprise, surprise -- is watching her. He asks if Milo knows he's working on the wrong keycard. She types "yes." Next, he asks if this is going to be a problem. She types "no." Gaines finishes the Q&A session by relaying that Nina is dead, so make up a story for why she's not there. Jamey doesn't seem to be a very good spy, as the news personally affects her. Two of Gaines' thugs reunite Teri and Kimberly, and lock them both up in the back room of the shed. They cry and weep and hug and do assorted girly things.

7:15 A.M.-7:17 A.M.: Kimberly asks her mother where Jack is. She only knows that he knows where they are. Kimberly apologizes for being a bad seed, and explains the situation about Rick, Dan and Janet when questioned.

7:17 A.M.-7:25 A.M.: Nina comes upon a deserted building, and busts her way in. Conveniently, there's a working phone there for her, so she tries to call Jamey for help. Lucky for Nina that Jamey is not at her desk and doesn't answer. Tony sees her phone ringing, but leaves it be. Nina hangs up, and this time calls Tony, who answers his own phone. Nina won't explain the entire situation, except to say that no one else at CTU can know she's alive. She asks him to get Jamey. He doesn't want to until he tells her what's wrong, but caves in after being yelled at. While he's about to hand her the phone, he overhears Milo arguing with Jamey about when Nina will return. Jamey replies dishonestly to Tony that she just talked to Nina a few minutes ago. So Tony doesn't let Nina speak to Jamey, and instead says she just lied to him about her whereabouts. In a panic, Nina warns Tony that they can't trust her, and Jack told her earlier that CTU has been infiltrated. Realizing Jamey probably thinks she's dead, Nina asks Tony to secretely bring her back in, as the surveillance system is probably bugged. Tony gets her address, and sends a car to pick her up. Palmer and Sherry get out of their limo, greet some men at the door and enter the power plant. Jack is now inside, too, but still needs to get through security. Pierce asks him to open the case the man at the bus stop gave him. There's a laptop inside, and Pierce wants to know why he needs one. After Jack makes up an explanation, Pierce asks him to turn it on. Seeing it work satisfies Pierce, who lets Jack in and tells him the senator is on his way. No sooner than he's clear than Jessica calls Jack over. They knew each other from high school, and she wants to make up for old times, but Gaines won't let him. Once Jack has excused himself from his old friend, Gaines says he has to give the briefcase to one of the terrorists, and now must wait until it's time. Jack sees Palmer arrived. Jessica welcomes him in, and introduces him to the photographer, Martin Belkin.

7:29 A.M.-7:37 A.M.: While Kimberly is dozing off, Teri looks for a way out of the shed. She fools around with a locked window, but is interrupted by Rick, who has brought some food. He introduces himself to her politely. She doesn't know that Rick is a buffoon, and attacks him for what he did to Kimberly. Gaines' thug enters the shed and sees the two in a struggle. Teri lets go, and the thug warns Rick not to make friends, as the ladies won't be around much longer. That's not what Rick wants to hear. Gaines tells Jack it's time, and gives him his new position on the chessboard. Jessica gets in his way again, and starts digging up more old memories that Gaines doesn't have time for. Gaines sees Jack is trying to write a message to her ("Get Palmer Out"), and has another one of his men, Jared, save the day by bumping into Jessica before Jack can hand her the piece of paper (which he told her contained his phone number). That plan foiled, Gaines orders Jack to wait in a medical station until he's needed. The car Tony called for Nina has brought her back to CTU. After she makes sure that the cameras can't see them, Tony lets her in through a side entrance. She explains that Jack is not himself, because the terrorists have his wife and daughter. Tony asks what does she want to do about Jamey. Nina doesn't want to do anything yet, and doesn't want Tony to call Secret Service or else Teri and Kimberly may get killed. Tony couldn't give a crap about them, and goes to make the call anyway. Nina stops him at first, but then lets him call. Jonathan enters the room where Gaines has had Jack wait, and makes Jack assemble the rifle he's going to shoot Palmer with, courtesy various parts that were stashed under Jack's laptop. With Jack's prints all over the weapon, Jonathan packs up the rifle in his camera bag and goes to leave when Jack pulls a gun on him out of anger. Jonathan doesn't flinch, and tells Jack to put it away or someone will get hurt. Jack doesn't put it away -- at least not until after Jonathan has left the room.

7:41 A.M.-7:44 A.M.: Tony goes to see Milo. While Jamey is present, Tony tells him that the keycard was a forgery and he found the original in Jack's office. Milo wants to know why Jack swapped it. Tony says it doesn't matter, since he's sent it to the archive lab, and Milo is getting it back after they're done with it. Tony leaves and calls up Pierce, while Nina monitors Jamey's panic attack from one of the computers. Tony tells Pierce that Jack may have been compromised, is a threat, and the appropriate action should be taken. Nina tells Tony via an ear microphone that Jamey has gotten up and gone to the bathroom. Through Nina's orders, Tony follows Jamey, warned that he has to time his entrance and exit right as the cameras are on a 20-second loop. As they both wait for the 20 seconds to end, Jamey takes her place in the stall and starts to dial Gaines. Nina gives Tony the signal to go. He pulls his gun, storms the bathroom, enters the stall next to Jamey's, points the gun at her, and orders her out. She drops her handheld, picks it up, and Tony rushes her out of the restroom at gunpoint, all in just under 20 seconds. And how nice of Tony -- he let Jamey hang on to her means of communication the whole time, too.

7:44 A.M.-7:48 A.M.: Pierce interrupts Palmer while he's making small talk with some people. Pierce says he's been informed there's a problem with one of the CTU agents, and Palmer needs to leave now. But Palmer doesn't want to leave, as he's really itching to be assassinated. So he recommends Pierce find the problem agent and take care of him. Through his top-secret security handphone, Pierce tells the good agents there that Palmer is going through with his speech, so the only other option for them is to find and detain Jack. After hearing Pierce's description of Jack, Agent Hayes responds, asking Pierce how to proceed. Tony brings Jamey back to the room where Nina was spying on her. And, look, she's still got her handheld. Nina is somewhat smarter than Tony, and swipes the handheld away from her, while both inquire as to whom she was calling in the bathroom. Jamey plays dumb, so Nina gets violent with the little pinko, and threatens to send her to jail. Out of fear, Jamey explains that they only asked her to tap into the security cameras at first, but later started sending her messages -- messages about Jack and the keycard. Jamey swears she never thought it would come to what it has and didn't think anyone would get hurt. But no matter how many times Nina and Tony ask, she won't say who she was doing it for unless they give her Agency Counsel. Fed up with her, Tony breaks out his handcuffs and chains bawling Jamey to a desk. Jack is ransacking the medical room looking for something or other, but stops when he hears Palmer being welcomed to the podium.

7:52 A.M.-8:00 A.M.: As she continues to look for a way out, Teri reminds Kimberly that she loves her, and it's important for her to remember that. Kimberly worries that Teri's telling her because she thinks something bad is about to happen to both of them. They share some big-time love. Palmer begins his speech, to thunderous applause, as a panicked Jack watches and waits, and Jonathan prepares to shoot some photos and/or senators. Gaines tells Jack to step out; they're ready for him. But to do what? He'll just have to go over and stand by Jonathan to find out. Gaines says Jonathan will be handing Jack the weapon after he shoots Palmer. Jack is in disbelief. Gaines warns him not to blow it, because his family will die and they'll get Palmer anyway. Sherry smiles at Palmer's side as he continues blathering on about integrity and honor. Jonathan's gun is aimed and he's about to open fire, but Agent Hayes spots Jack (though not Jonathan) and orders him to come with him. Jack lunges for Hayes' gun, and Hayes wrestles him to the ground, meanwhile yelling out a warning to everybody attending the breakfast. Agents race Palmer out of the building, other agents come to Hayes' aid to help detain Jack, and Gaines watches the entire plan fall apart before his eyes. Not too happy about that, he demands an answer from Jack as to what happened. Jack's earpiece has fallen out of his ear, and Jack tries to reach for it to put it back in, but he has a little trouble in that department since Hayes and company are cuffing his hands behind his back. Jack continues to beg Gaines not to hurt his family as he'll still help him. A very testy Gaines orders his two thugs to go dispose of Teri and Kimberly. They go to do just that. Gaines has an incoming message from Jamey, which he grudgingly takes. Nina and Tony, who were watching TV, have made her call him to say that she just found out Division went to pick up Jack at the power plant, as they've been looking for him all night for breaking protocol. The thugs drag Teri and Kimberly kicking and screaming out back. The women cry and beg and whine and plead, but before any heads can explode, Gaines calls to tell thug #1, Eli, that he still needs them alive. So it's back to the shed. As she's being hauled off, Kimberly sees Rick, who was just standing there the whole time, and gives him a dirty look. Secret Service is escorting Jack out of the plant. Tick, tick, tick...

Nina and Tony turn up the pressure on Jamey and finally learn about Gaines, but tragedy strikes before they can act.

Teri sacrifices herself to save Kim from a brutal experience.

Recap

8:02 A.M.-8:09 A.M.: Pierce and his crew get the Palmers safely out of the plant and into a limo, while Eli and the other thug lock weeping Teri and Kimberly back up in the shed, and Hayes and the other agents turn a handcuffed Jack over to their boss, Frank Simes. With one hand chained to a pole, Jack attempts to plead his case to Simes so he'll uncuff him. Because Tony turned him in, Simes doesn't buy it. Jack tells Simes that Tony doesn't know what he knows, and Palmer's life is still in danger with Jonathan lurking around. Rather than let Jack go, Simes calls Palmer's security to get a list of the photographers who were at the breakfast. After beating her down, Tony gets Jamey to divulge Gaines' name and Nina gets her to divulge that Gaines is the one watching them. Tony and Nina need to get the cameras shut off, but can't cut the feed as that will look too suspicious. Jamey says she knows what to say (as well she better, since she was the one who tapped into the cameras in the first place). Gaines, in a rage, is on the phone with someone trying to find out if Jonathan got a shot off. He hangs up to see all his feeds are down. Before he can find out why, Jamey calls to say she had to shut off his tap, because Milo was on to them. This does nothing to lower Gaines' blood pressure, nor does it buy Nina and Tony much time, as Gaines wants Jack back under his command ASAP. Nina gives Milo Jamey's projects, explaining she's no longer on the team. Greedy Milo wants a pay hike, which Nina says he'll get. From the backseat of his limo, Palmer calls up Mike, who tells him someone has been taken into custody, but they don't know who. Sherry thinks he should have listened to the warnings, but Palmer has a good laugh about his near-death experience. Jack starts yelling at Simes at the top of the lungs. Angry black man Hayes gets annoyed at having to listen to Jack, and forcefully tries to make sit. Simes calls Hayes off, and tells Jack he's turning him in and not letting him back on the case. Jack wants a moment alone with Simes to tell him something in private, so Simes gives Hayes the signal to jet. One on one, Jack explains the truth about Teri and Kimberly, how the terrorists used the threat of killing his family to get him to smuggle the weapon through security to give to the assassin, and how he got Palmer out of the room, thus saving his life. This Simes seems to believe, but he still doesn't have to authority to free Jack, only District does. But Jack knows District won't. Hayes and two other men uncuff Jack from the pole, cuff his hands together, and lead him into the plant's boiler room. As Jack is making his grand exit, Simes says he's sorry. Jack says he will be when Palmer dies.

8:09 A.M.-8:12 A.M.: After observing men working in the boiler room, Jack gets a bright idea, and turns on several valves with his arms -- which in turn blow enough steam in the agents' faces for him to get away from them with one of their guns. A chase ensues, during which Jack jumps a chain-link fence, slides down an embankment leading to the highway, runs out into the street, and with stolen pistol in hand, hijacks the oncoming car of an unsuspecting waitress.

8:16 A.M.-8:18 A.M.: At gunpoint, Jack forces the terrified waitress to drive him where he needs to go, and shouts at her when she botches the directions. He has her pull over in the deserted parking lot of a construction site, and orders her to come with him while he makes a phone call. The half-finished building on the site is locked, so Jack smashes in the window with his elbow.

8:18 A.M.-8:24 A.M.: Tony expresses his disgust with Jamey for betraying her country and being responsible for the deaths of innocent people. He asks her how much they're paying her, figuring it must have been a million or more, and is further disgusted to learn it's just $300,000. Jamey rationalizes her behavior by saying she has to support her son by herself since her husband left her, and that it's not fair that she works twice as hard as the rest of the staff, but makes half as much. Tony dishes up the ultimate insult by calling the little complainer an embarrassment to all of CTU. And you know he means business, too, because he says it in Spanish. Nina returns to say she's got Milo researching Gaines. She asks Jamey to call Gaines and tell him Jack's on his way back to CTU, but Jamey refuses to do anything more until she gets immunity in writing. The phone rings -- it's Jack, calling from the office he broke into. He's relieved that Nina answers, and explains that he put the flak jacket on her because they wanted him to kill her. When she asks why her, he says it's because she started piecing things together. Jack gets Nina up to snuff about what's doing with Teri and Kimberly, and she gets him up to snuff by outing Jamey as the mole. Jack doesn't believe that, as Walsh cleared her. But when Nina tells him that Walsh was mistaken since Jamey already confessed, he realizes she had access to everything -- including details about his family. Even though Nina says Jamey's not cooperating, Jack wants to talk to her anyway. He sucks up to Jamey, professing that he doesn't care about protocol and he'll get her off the hook if she helps him bring down Gaines and save Teri and Kimberly. Jamey sees through his B.S., and continues to demand immunity first. Nina gets back on the phone, and asks Jack what he wants her to do. Since he's about as thrilled with Jamey's work ethic as Tony is, he mentions Jamey's son to Nina, and tells her to bring him in so the kid can see his mommy in handcuffs. Nina tries to make him understand he's acting in the heat of the moment, but Jack carries on, requesting a loaded car (9mm ammo, locksmith kit, the works) be dropped off near the building he's staked out. After they hang up, the waitress asks Jack who he is and what does he want from her. He explains about the kidnapping -- the other one -- but she doesn't understand why he's running from the police then. He reads her nametag, Lauren, and introduces himself as important agent Jack Bauer, whom various people are attempting to detain from his job. Lauren still doesn't understand why he needs her when he's got a car and a hideout. He says that if they find him and try to take him back into custody, he has to make them believe that he's willing to do something crazy for his freedom. She equates that to him shooting her. He attempts to allay her fears by saying he won't shoot her. She believes that, and gets up to leave. When he frantically asks what she's doing, she responds that he isn't the only one with problems -- she works the night shift and was on her way to court for a DUI charge. He decides to bring her fears back by cocking his gun at her before she gets to the door. After letting a good scream out of her system, she has no choice but to listen as he rants about the two people he's killed recently, then decides remaining his hostage is better than making it three.

8:29 A.M.-8:31 A.M.: Pierce and company deliver the Palmers back to their hotel room. Their aide, Anna, wants to know if they're alright. After Sherry asks where Keith is, Anna says he wasn't acting like himself and stormed out a half hour ago. Anna leaves, and Sherry asks her husband if they should send someone to pick him up. He says no; Keith just needs some time alone. Since Palmer couldn't break the story himself, Sherry wonders if there's anything they can do to stop Maureen -- who is going on the air at 9:00 A.M.. But he knows it's too huge a story to pass up. Sherry is miffed at him for suddenly treating this like a non-issue when he's done the impossible for his career. He shoots her down by reminding her she isn't asking for his help, she's asking for him to rewrite history. He has the final say -- if she really wanted his help, she would have asked for it seven years ago when it happened -- and walks away.

8:31 A.M.-8:36 A.M.: Tony answers the phone. Jack has called to talk to Nina, but she's busy, so he asks Tony whether Kyle, Jamey's son, is there yet. He isn't, but Nina did send the car he requested, which should be there soon. Jack says that Simes said he was the one who turned him in. Tony explains he had no choice, but Jack feels he made the right choice. The two guys have a near-male bonding experience when Tony is apologetic for giving Jack a hard time in the midst of his personal crisis, and Jack puts his faith in Tony as the only one besides Nina he can trust. Jack says he'll call back when the car arrives, hangs up, and makes Lauren go fetch a pair of bolt cutters he sees lying outside. Something seemingly having rubbed off from Gaines, he warns her he's watching her. She does as told, returns with the cutters, and, at his command, breaks his handcuffs in two. Mike is over at the Palmers', telling the senator that he just got off the phone with Simes. Simes revealed the agent they took into custody is Jack Bauer, and when Jack tried to take the gun away from one of their men, he claimed his actions were misinterpreted. The news that Jack escaped and hasn't been found makes Palmer uneasy. Mike asks if he knows who Jack is. Palmer says he's heard the name. Back at Gaines' compound, Eli enters the shed, and orders Kimberly to get up and go in the other room. Knowing exactly what he wants with her, Teri shields Kimberly and threatens him. But Eli needs some action pretty bad, and throws Teri into the wall in order to get her lovely daughter. After Teri screams not to hurt her, he draws his gun and says he will hurt her if she keeps it up. So, like King Kong with Ann Darrow, Eli drags his little object of affection kicking and screaming towards the back room. Kimberly doesn't really want to find out what the creepy Eli is like in the sack, so she claws his face. After he lets go of her in pain, she grabs a piece of wood for protection and knocks some stuff over in a vain attempt to hinder him from getting to her in a 20' x 20' shed. Now Eli's really peeved, so it's up to Teri to intervene, courtesy her various seductive "Here I Am, Big Boy" poses. It seems any lay is a good lay for the sexually-starved Eli, as he decides to forego the blonde and perky Kimberly for the dark and sassy Mother Bauer. After they retreat back into Eli's lair, Kimberly attempts to open the door, but it's locked. The sounds of pants unbuckling and mattress springs squeaking are heard as Kimberly gives up trying.

8:40 A.M.-8:44 A.M.: Anna delivers the phone to Sherry. Maureen is on the line. She's actually returning Sherry's call. Maureen is in her make-up chair, about to go live, when Sherry sort of asks, sort of orders her not to go with the story. After sending her hairstylist away, Maureen refuses, as there's no way she'll get rid of an exclusive, documented story. But Sherry finds the way -- by giving Maureen a bigger exclusive, documented story. That being the assassination attempt on Palmer, the arrest of Jack Bauer and the CTU conspiracy. Maureen thinks Sherry is full of crap, but Sherry claims that if Maureen gives her a couple of hours, she can milk some of her sources for details. Maureen won't kill the story entirely, but this alternative newsflash appears to be enough for her to sit on it for a few days. Eli puts Teri back in the pen with Kimberly, apparently having exhausted his use for her. Kimberly rushes into her mother's arms, and apologizes for sneaking out and causing her and Teri -- well, mostly Teri -- anguish. Teri quiets her down, checks to see if Eli is still by the door, and, to Kimberly's surprise, pulls a cell phone out of her pants. Teri dials CTU, and Nina picks up, but before she can say anything more than "Nina, listen, it's Teri," the other thug enters the shed. Teri quickly sticks the phone back in her pants, leaving Nina (who can't trace the call) hanging in the process, while the thug orders her to stand in the corner. As he goes about his business, Teri grabs her jacket, and, through another well-disguised embrace, Kimberly helps her hide the phone so it's not sticking half out of her pants. Teri puts the jacket on, just to be safe.

8:44 A.M.-8:48 A.M.: Keith returns, a little cooler than when he left, now that he knows his father didn't tell the press. But Palmer warns that it's going to come out soon anyway. He thinks his lawyers will have Keith cleared, but Keith feels otherwise. Keith leaves, and Mike tells Palmer that Maureen is sitting on the story for now. This infuriates Palmer, who knows full well who might have persuaded her to do that. After Sherry feigns surprise, Palmer tells everyone he's calling Maureen back to get to the bottom of her motives. Jack makes small talk with Lauren about where she works and whether she's married. She says she was, but her sister had a bad car accident and had to move in with them while she recovered. Her husband gave her an ultimatum to choose between him and her sister, and she chose her sister. Jack inquires about her DUI, and learns it's not her first. When he thinks it's because she has a drinking problem, she laughs and says it's because she has bad luck. As the kidnapping would seem to attest. He apologizes for dragging her into this. She asks him to just let her go, and he promises he will as soon as he gets his car. Exhausted, he begins to drift off, admits in a daze how scared he is at the moment, and promptly falls asleep. She decides to try to make another dash for the door, but before she gets on her feet, he wakes up, and she quickly sits back down. He hears some talking from outside, draws his gun, and looks out the window to see what's going on. He's too tired to function.

8:53 A.M.-8:58 A.M.: Since Jamey still won't talk, Tony and Nina coldly rub it in her nose that they're bringing Kyle in, and if she doesn't start talking soon, Kyle's going to see for himself that his mother is a traitor. Jamey breaks down in tears, begging them not to, but Tony reminds her that the minute Gaines finds out she's in custody, he'll go straight to her son to prevent her from testifying. Jamey blubbers a bit, yet still needs some time to think about it. Nina and Tony decide to leave the room for a bit to give Jamey just that. Jack's car has arrived. Unfortunately, so have the police, and they're circling the area where the car is parked. Jack asks Lauren to go get the car for him and park it around the side of the office. She's annoyed, as she doesn't understand why they couldn't just park it where he wants it in the first place. He explains that's because the person who delivered the car couldn't know who it was for. After he reaffirms that his wife and daughter are really in trouble, she agrees to help him. He says the keys will be in it, and she goes outside. He watches her from the window, but as soon as she gets to the street, she stops, thinks about it, and then, presumably displeased about having a gun pointed at her all that time, runs straight to the cops. Jack flips out, tears down the blinds in the office, opens the window, and gets away in the nick of time. Hayes spots him escaping, but is unable to catch up with him. After his mad dash from the feds, Jack gets to his car, gets in, and drives off.

8:58 A.M.-9:00 A.M.: Nina and Tony are talking to Milo, who's come up with a long list of matches under various spellings of "Gaines." Nina tells him to whittle it down by cross-checking with the other names Jack has provided. Tony tells her that Jamey's had enough time to think about it. Nina tells Milo that Jamey's son is being brought in, and asks him to call her in ITS when he gets there. Milo wants to know what kind of trouble Jamey's in, but Tony stifles him. It doesn't really matter that Milo will soon figure it out -- since Nina knows it's not going to be a secret for much longer, she recommends they bring Milo into it. After all, he'll be working on whatever Jamey gives them. As the two are about to enter ITS, where Jamey's being held, Tony hopes she gives them something substantial. Jamey gave them something substantial alright. She broke a mug and used the glass to slash her wrists. Now she lies passed out in her chair surrounded by a sea of blood. In a panic, Nina calls an ambulance, Tony gives her a makeshift tourniquet, and they both lay her down on the floor. Milo gets on the phone to ask if he should bring Kyle in, since he just arrived. Nina decides there is apparently one thing Kyle should not see, and orders Milo to keep the kid out. Tony and Nina attempt to revive Jamey, to no avail. They are interrupted by her handheld device. It's Gaines. But who's going to answer it? Tick, tick, tick...

Season 1 Ep 10

9am-10am episode 10

10:00 A.M.-11:00 A.M..Season:1 Episode: 11 First Aired: 2/12/2002

EPISODE 11 OVERVIEW
Palmer begins to form a two-year-old connection between himself and Jack Bauer.

Gaines meets with Drazen, the man behind the Palmer assassination plot. Drazen gives Gaines an unpleasant ultimatum that will result in the deaths of Teri and Kim.

Jack's interrogation of Cofell goes awry, but he discovers another familiar face who can lead him to his family.

RECAP

10:02 A.M.-10:07 A.M.: Alberta Green announces how Secret Service think the photographer, Martin Belkin, may be in on the assassination attempt, as he hasn't
been seen since the breakfast. Nina tells her she hasn't heard from Jack. Kevin calls Cofell, because something important has come up and he needs to be
met at a parking garage. After getting off the phone with Kevin, Cofell tells Mark his change of plans, but Mark doesn't acknowledge them, and Cofell soon
figures out that he's not talking to Mark. When he voices his protests, Jack locks the doors automatically so Cofell can't escape. Cofell pleads for his
substitute chauffeur to stop the car. Jack doesn't comply until Cofell pulls his cell phone out of his pocket to dial for help. With the car in park, Jack
draws his gun, makes Cofell give him the phone, exits the vehicle, comes around the back, sits next to Cofell, and orders him to sit on his hands. Cofell
thinks Jack wants money, so after smacking him across the face, Jack sets the record straight. Cofell pretends that he doesn't know who Gaines is, nor
what Jack is talking about, as he's just a businessman. Jack doesn't believe him, since his limousine has a bulletproof divider; Cofell explains it's for
protection from people like him. Jack cocks his pistol, explaining to Cofell that it's his last chance to tell him where his family is, but Cofell continues
to declare his innocence. Jack backs off and has Cofell stay put while he calls Nina, who opens a secure line. After she fills him in on what's up there,
he says he's got (meaning kidnapped) Cofell. She thinks that was stupid of him, and doesn't know how much longer she can cover, since Green isn't buying
any of it anyway. Jack ignores it, and asks her to put together as best of a Cofell interrogation profile as she can in five minutes. He hangs up, and
drives Cofell to a new location.

10:07 A.M.-10:13 A.M.: Teri believes that Nina and crew were able to get the trace before the phone went dead, while Kimberly doesn't. Rick comes in, and
apologizes for what happened. Teri goes to thank him, but he stops her, claiming that since Eli sent him in to interrogate them it's better that they don't
say anything, as he can't tell Eli what he doesn't know. Kimberly asks Rick what Eli is going to do to them. Rick neglects to answer, and leaves. Kimberly
is able to spy on Eli and Rick from a slat in the wall, and sees Eli kick the crap out of Rick for claiming the women didn't tell him anything. Nina quickly
halts work on the profile when Green comes over. Green says she's been reviewing the report of the first-class passenger list of the 747, and they don't
add up. Nina explains they were altered to make it look like there was an empty seat, but CTU feels there wasn't one. Nina explains that Martin Belkin
was in that seat and died in the explosion, and a lookalike assassin took his place at the breakfast. What Nina can't yet explain is how the lookalike
got a legitimate ID. While the two are talking, Jack calls Nina. Nina says hi to Bill, then, just in case she needs his help, tells Tony it's Bill Warner
at the Bureau. She does need his help as Green wants to talk to Bill, so Tony walks over to distract Green with something else. With her out of the way,
Nina gives Jack what little she managed to come up with in the short time he gave her -- Cofell is the oldest of three children, father died when he was
a boy, went to college at 16, first in his class, vice president of his company three years later, got a heart condition, not generous with money. She
guesses he's passive aggressive. Her parting words that the threat of pain can be more effective than pain itself for the kind of person she perceives
Cofell to be give Jack his next plan.

10:17 A.M.-10:20 A.M.: Cofell continues to stalemate. He tells Jack he was meeting a businessman named Kevin Carroll, who sells machinery. Jack wonders
why he was meeting him in a parking garage, but Cofell doesn't know, as it was Kevin's choice. Jack calls Nina to run a background check on Kevin Carroll,
which is probably an alias. Then he pulls out a towel, drenches it in water, rolls it up, and enlightens Cofell on how the Soviets punished prisoners in
the Russian Gulags with makeshift torture devices. They'd shove wet, twisted towels down their throats, hold onto one end, wait until their stomachs started
digesting the towel, then pull them -- and their stomach linings -- out. Cofell fearfully questions what kind of man Jack is. Jack says he doesn't want
to hurt him, he just wants his family. Cofell hands Jack his wallet, so he can see a picture of Cofell's family. Cofell repeats that if he knew something,
so would Jack.

10:20 A.M.-10:25 A.M.: Gaines and Drazen meet in a deserted location. Gaines assures Drazen that they'll be ready for Jack this time, but Drazen thinks
he and his people made a mistake bringing the Americans into this, and pulls the plug on Gaines' involvement. Gaines doesn't understand how Drazen could
quit something that's been so important to him for over a year, but Drazen says he's not quitting; he has a contingency plan. Jack and Palmer will both
be dead by the end of day, and Gaines... well, it's no longer his concern. Gaines begs for just two more hours to find Jack. Drazen gives him thirty minutes.
If Gaines doesn't find Jack by then, he'll have to kill Teri and Kimberly, pull his people out, and Drazen will take over. Rick, who's standing nearby,
hears every word. Drazen calls someone, and talks to them in Serbian. After class, the principal of the school chats with Palmer, and offers him some suggestions
on his educational program. Mike interrupts to hand Palmer a phone. Carl's on the other line, none too happy about his former boss needing his help. Palmer
asks to see him in person, because he got a tip that George Ferragamo's life may be in danger. Carl thinks Frank Ames told him that, and brushes it off.
Palmer threatens to blackmail Carl if he doesn't come meet him at the school. Carl says he'll be there by hour's end. Jack calls Nina back to see what
she's learned. She's found six Kevin Carrolls, one of whom does sell machinery. Jack feels it has to be a cover, but Nina thinks he may have the wrong
Ted Cofell, especially since Nina's email was partially erased. More than that, she feels Jack's judgement is affected. After he ends the call and starts
the car, he tells Cofell they're going to see Kevin.

10:30 A.M.-10:34 A.M.: Teri's pain returns. Since Kimberly knows she's not fine, Teri admits her stomach's been hurting her. Kimberly wants to ask the kidnappers
for help, but Teri won't let her. Cofell carefully flips down a cushion in the backseat, revealing a secret compartment. He removes a knife and returns
the cushion to its upright position, with Jack none the wiser. After talking with the principal, Palmer pulls Sherry over to ask if she's spoken to Carl
since he was fired. She says she did; she asked him if he could find a way to stop Maureen Kingsley, and he replied that he'd take care of the evidence
against Keith. She says the reason she hid this was because she wasn't sure what Carl meant. Palmer thinks it's yet another secret in the grand scheme
of things that proves how disloyal she is. Palmer checks up with Mike, who tells him he scoped out Jack as requested, and found the usual gap-ridden agency
file. Mike is stunned when Palmer asks if one of those gaps coincides with the summer of two years ago. Palmer won't say how he knew that.

10:34 A.M.-10:37 A.M.: Jack orders Cofell to shift over to the opposite seat, so he can come on back and visit. Cofell decides to use the opportunity to
kill Jack, and readies his blade. Jack catches Cofell mid-lunge, twists the knife out of his hands, and breaks his wrist. The knife now in Jack's possession,
he angrily demands to know what kind of businessman keeps a Microtech HALO in his car. Cofell is so annoyed over his broken wrist that he slips up in the
accent department. He's a Serb -- or at least that's the language he's chosen to curse out Jack. Since Jack spent that time in Belgrade, he recognizes
what language Cofell has lapsed into, and attempts to get more out of him. Cofell bitterly taunts Jack about how he deserves what's happening to him, and
how he will pay. Jack lets his temper get the best of him, and rams Cofell in the chest with the back end of the knife. That heart ailment of Cofell's
that he and Nina both know about? Yeah, not the best thing for it. While Cofell suffers cardiac arrest, Jack holds his heart pills in his hand, claiming
he'll hand them over right after finding out where his family is. But Cofell would rather die. Realizing his key witness is about to croak, Jack waives
the testimonial and stuffs Cofell's medication in his mouth. Cofell spits them right out, then goes limp. Now in a panic, Jack loosens Cofell's shirt and
tie and attempts CPR, begging him to please be alive. Bully for Jack -- he killed him.

10:41 A.M.-10:44 A.M.: Nina consoles a teary Jack, who worries that he won't be able to find Teri and Kimberly now. Nina wonders if Kevin Carroll may know
something. Jack isn't sure he's even coming, since he's late. Jack knows the terrorists have a personal agenda against him, but doesn't know what for.
He wants Nina to dig as deep as she can into two things -- 1) Cofell's background, and 2) a two-year-old assignment he did in Belgrade and Kosovo called
"Operation Nightfall" -- and then crosscheck the files against each other. After hanging up and pulling himself together, he starts making Cofell look
presentable. Tony goes to Nina with a proposition: since Green already knows they're lying, they might as well come clean. Nina sternly refuses, because
Jack said no and because they can't be sure that Green -- or the thirty people Green is sure to call -- is any more on the level than Jamey was.

10:44 A.M.-10:48 A.M.: Teri interrupts Kimberly's nap, because they have to be on their guard. Rick barges into the shed with a badly-bruised face. He gives
them Dan's pistol, which he says is loaded, and offers Kimberly another apology. He's on his way out when an ungrateful Kimberly blasts him for suggesting
they shoot their way free. He has nothing more to say to her, and leaves. Teri is a little more appreciative, and cocks the gun before hiding it in her
pants. She senses their execution will be taking place soon. Jack sits and watches from the driver's seat in Cofell's limo while another car pulls up.
Kevin (or, as Jack was introduced to him, Alan York) gets out of his vehicle and enters the back seat of the limo. He apologizes to Cofell's corpse for
being late, before the doors mysteriously lock. Kevin is taken by surprise when Jack greets him by name, then turns around to ask where his wife is. Kevin
quickly draws his gun and fires six shots at Jack's head. The bulletproof glass divider stops every one of them. After Kevin runs out of bullets, Jack
decides to take him on a little joyride around the parking garage. And since he forgot to buckle up, Kevin is thrown all over the backseat before Jack
stops short and sends him face first into the divider.

10:51 A.M.-11:00 A.M.: Jack has used the time Kevin was unconscious to tie him up with duct tape. Jack wakes him up, leaves him prisoner in the backseat,
and returns to the front. Kevin, whose face is looking quite the mess, says his family are safe when asked, but when he won't say where they are, Jack
punches him. After being shown who's boss, Kevin warns him that there's no reason for his accomplices to keep Teri and Kimberly alive now that he's of
no further use to them. Kevin wants to strike a deal: he tells Jack where they are and Jack lets him go. Jack says he will let him go... after he sees
his family. Kevin laughs at Jack's arrangement, so Jack tells him he'll see if he's as good at withstanding pain as he says he is. Apparently, he's not.
Gaines' half hour is up, and Drazen takes over. Feeling quite the failure, Gaines summons Eli and orders him to kill the women. While Palmer is answering
questions for the principal outside the school, he spots Carl. He excuses himself again and goes over to talk to Carl privately. Palmer puts him on the
spot about his not-so-subtle promises to murder Ferragamo. Carl plays coy at first, then denies that's what he meant. Palmer tells Carl that he didn't
give his permission to go killing people willy-nilly. Carl doesn't need permission. Instead, he warns Palmer how powerful "they" are, while reminding that
he doesn't work for him, they both work for "them." But Palmer feels Carl is the only one whom that applies to. Palmer ends the conversation, then calls
Ferragamo. Kimberly fears that Jack isn't coming. Eli comes into the shed to tell her and Teri that their time's up. After promising to make it fast, Teri
pulls out the gun Rick gave her, points it at a shocked and surprised Eli, then opens fire. Oops, it's not loaded. Eli tears the gun away from Teri, grabs
her throat and begins strangling her with one hand while reaching for the gun in his back pocket with the other. Kimberly stops him, his gun falls to the
floor, and Eli stops choking Teri so he can take care of the girl first. After he's got her pinned to the ground, he pulls out a switchblade (since his
gun is out of reach) and puts quite the fear into Kimberly as he goes to stab her. Before he can, Teri fetches his loaded pistol and shoots him in the
back. Kimberly gets up to go stand by her mother, as Eli quickly dies. Teri shoots him one more time after he's dead, explaining to Kimberly that whomever
sent Eli in was expecting to hear two shots. Teri has Kimberly help her hide the body. Jack is driving while Kevin gives directions. Jack asks where they're
going. Kevin says they're off to see his family. Tick, tick, tick...

1:00 A.M.-12:00 P.M..Season: 1 Episode: 12 First Aired: 2/19/2002

EPISODE OVERVIEW
Jack sneaks into the compound and rescues his family, but Gaines catches on to him and gives chase. Jack and his family are attacked by Gaines and his men, causing them to become separated.

Palmer tries to talk to Keith's therapist, but discovers that Carl has been there before him.

Green tries to turn Nina and Tony against one another

11:02 A.M.-11:05 A.M.: Kevin grudgingly tells Jack where to go. Jack warns him that his family better still be alive, or else. Green has gathered up all
of CTU to thank them for working so hard. She lets them know that there's a high probability Palmer is still in danger, and Jack is their key lead. Nina
and Tony have no choice but to listen to her as she drones on about how they're also looking for the imposter photographer, as the man is probably Jack's
accomplice. When the meeting concludes, Nina calls Jack to give him the heads up. He interrupts her to say that, thanks to Kevin, he's on his way to see
Teri and Kimberly. He asks that she open up the GPS function on the palm pilot she sent him so he can scope out the compound. After she warns him about
Green, he tells her he'll turn himself in right after he finds his family. As soon as they hang up, Tony comes over to ask Nina if that was Jack. She says
it was and fills him in on what he's up to. He thinks she should tell Green. She says she won't do that until Jack gets his family out. And if he doesn't
get them out, then she'll have to live with the consequences. She tells him she appreciates what he's doing, but he shouldn't feel as if he has to continue
covering for Jack. He says he's not doing it for Jack, and walks away. Green has been watching them, and knows that they're hiding something.

11:05 A.M.-11:09 A.M.: Teri and Kimberly drag Eli's body onto a platform, and cover it up with a big metal tub. Teri gives Kimberly a sanctimonious lecture
about how it's alright to kill someone in self defense. But Kimberly admits she's glad the creep is dead. Their bonding moment is ruined when Eli's beeper
starts going off. The pair quickly lift the tub so Teri can get the beeper. She then tells Kimberly they have to get out now before the others come looking
for Eli. Since there are two guys right outside the shed, they need to wait until the coast is clear. Kevin has done as promised and led Jack right to
the compound. Nina calls Jack with the coordinates he requested, but soon does an about face and stresses that she thinks they should bring Green into
this so she can authorize backup. Her suggestion sets Jack off, since he feels CTU could turn things into another Waco. She gives up and sends him the
photos of the compound over the palm pilot. With that done, Jack drags Kevin out of the car, making like he's going to kill him. Instead, he makes Kevin
presentable by wiping the blood off his face. Thinking Jack went back on his word, Kevin reminds him of the agreement. Jack doesn't care about Kevin's
agreement; he only cares about his own agreement, which was that he'll let Kevin go after he knows his family is safe. Like Nina, Kevin warns Jack that
he's being stupid to go into an armed compound by himself. Stupid is as stupid does. Jack uncuffs Kevin, hands him the keys, and tells him to drive. Kevin
makes one last appeal -- if Gaines finds out he brought Jack into the compound, he'll kill them both. Jack says they should avoid Gaines then. Kevin has
no more appeals left to make, and drives Jack into the compound.

11:09 A.M.-11:12 A.M.: Palmer and Mike are riding in the limo together. Mike sees Palmer's got something on his mind, and asks what it is. Palmer tells
him what Carl is doing. Mike thinks he's being paranoid, but promises to call Ferragamo himself to tell him to be on his guard. Palmer says he already
did that, only to get Ferragamo's voicemail. Mike is absolutely furious that Palmer exposed himself like that smack in the middle of his campaign. Jack
hides himself under a blanket in the backseat of the car as he and Kevin approach the security gate. Jack warns Kevin that if anything goes wrong, he'll
shoot everyone in and around the car starting with him. Neill greets Kevin at the gate, and tells him Gaines has been waiting for him. He sees Kevin's
face is a mess and asks what happened. Kevin makes a sarcastic response and has Neill open the gate. Nothing goes wrong; Neill and the other guy with him
open it.

11:16 A.M.-11:20 A.M.: After Jack and Kevin get safely inside, Jack orders Kevin to pull over. He asks him how many men are on site and what building Teri
and Kimberly are in, and isn't too pleased with Kevin's vague answers. Kevin has one last appeal after all -- he tries to be the straw that broke the Bauers'
marriage by spitting back to Jack all the things Teri told him in confidence at the hospital. Jack rams him in the back of the head with his pistol to
show him who's boss, then pulls out the palm pilot so that Kevin can tell him which building Teri and Kimberly are in. After Kevin points to the former
cold storage shed where they're being held, he attempts to karate chop Jack in the throat, but Jack blocks it and subsequently beats the crap out of him
in a rage. Looks like Jack took care of yet another star witness -- Kevin is out cold. So he grabs the palm pilot, gets out of the car, and sets off on
foot to find the ladies himself.

11:20 A.M.-11:23 A.M.: While Rick and numerous other men are moving stuff out of the compound center, Gaines is on the phone with Drazen, being warned that
time is money. After they hang up, Gaines stops Rick to ask where Eli is. Rick says he hasn't seen him. Gaines tells him he sent Eli to snuff out the women
a half hour ago, and asks him to see what's holding him up. Rick checks to make sure Gaines wants him to finish loading up a truck first. Gaines does.
Meanwhile, Jack is making his way through the woods with his pistol in one hand and palm pilot in the other. He finds the center and sees all the thugs
carrying things to red vans parked right outside the building. Dr. Ferragamo returns Palmer's call. When Palmer says he called to talk about Keith, Ferragamo
reminds the senator that would be a violation of doctor/patient privileges. Palmer throws it up to Ferragamo that he had no problems violating doctor/patient
privileges when it was to the press. Ferragamo mistakenly believes Palmer is threatening him, so Palmer sets the record straight who is. But since Ferragamo
is under the impression that Palmer was the one who covered up Lyle Gibson's murder, he twists Palmer's words and continues to believe he's the one who's
threatening him. In a fit of anger, Ferragamo stubbornly hangs up. Palmer attempts to call back, but only gets his answering machine again. He leaves a
message begging Ferragamo to hear him out, but the shrink won't pick up the phone. Mike gloats that it didn't sound like the meeting went very well. Palmer
wants to go see Ferragamo in person now. Mike reminds him he has to give a speech in an hour. Palmer says he'll be late then. Mike's pleading falls on
deaf ears. Teri tells Kimberly that the men are gone, and they have to move fast. They grab their things and Teri grabs the gun, but before they even make
it out the door, the main door in the other part of the shed flies open. Kimberly goes to hide with Eli's knife in her hand while Teri backs away from
the door with her pistol drawn. The door slowly opens, and somebody jumps out from behind, knocks the gun from Teri's hand and pulls her down to the ground.
Luckily, it's Jack. He keeps his hand over her mouth long enough to tell her who it is. She's relieved, he takes his hand away, and the two share a kiss.
Kimberly runs over and the three hug for a good, long time. He promises to get them out soon.

11:28 A.M.-11:30 A.M.: Green asks Nina if she's made any progress. Nina says she's working on the threat assessment. Green blurts out how she believes she
and Tony are both harboring Jack. Nina tells her Jack is not a threat to Palmer. Green wonders how she could know that if she hasn't talked to him like
she claims. Nina tells Green to polygraph them both if she thinks they're lying. Green sees that for the stall tactic it is. Since neither of them will
talk, she tells them to go to two separate holding rooms and wait there. When Tony asks what she's doing, Green replies they're both suspended. Nina says
she doesn't have the authority to do that. Apparently, she does, and to prove it, she pits the two against each other -- the first person who tells where
Jack is will have a career and a future; the other will be prosecuted and discharged. Gaines spots Rick still loading the vans, and yells at him for not
checking on Eli. Rick does as told.

11:30 A.M.-11:34 A.M.: While staring at Eli's body, Jack asks Teri who he is. When she tells him Eli was sent in to kill them, Jack states the obvious;
that somebody will come in to look for him. Teri's stomach acts up again. Jack sees her in pain and goes to comfort her, but just then Rick starts banging
on the door to ask Kimberly to open up. Kimberly tells Jack that Rick is okay; he's the one who gave them the gun. Jack doesn't listen to her and orders
her to back away the door while he points his gun at it. Rick enters, and Jack grabs him by the throat and starts choking him with his gun pointed squarely
at his chest. Teri and Kimberly both plead to let Rick go as he's on their side now. Jack stops choking Rick, but keeps his gun on him, and asks why he's
helping them. Rick admits that he got Kimberly into this, without knowing where it was going to lead, and wants to get her out of it. Kimberly tries to
go over to check if Rick is okay, but Jack violently pushes her away from him. Jack has debriefed Rick enough for the day and decides to let him sit with
his ^partner.^ If Kimberly was happy to see her daddy a few minutes ago, she probably isn't now. Green is grilling Tony one-on-one in the holding room
where he was told to wait. She says they both know why Nina is covering for Jack, and believes the only reason he's covering for him is to cover for Nina
-- whom she thinks is using him. While she tries to appeal to Tony by asking him not to put Palmer's life on the line, Nina racks her brains out in the
other holding room. Green asks him why Jack grabbed Hayes' gun. Tony says Jack claimed he was trying to create a diversion. Green knows what Jack said,
but what she really wants to know is what Tony thinks. She doesn't believe him when he says he doesn't know where Jack is, and threatens him with jailtime
if he doesn't spill the beans within 10 minutes. Rick rehides Eli's body, and Jack announces he's going to step out for a minute so he can bring the car
up. In a panic, Teri begs him not to leave, even for a minute. When Jack says he'll be right back, Teri tells him every bad thing that has happened to
them has happened because they split up. Like a slasher movie. Since she refuses to let him go, Rick thinks maybe they can hang out here while he tries
to steal one of the red vans. After all, Gaines doesn't know he's turned a traitor. And if it doesn't work, his getting stopped can create a diversion
so the three can make it to the car. Since Teri and Kimberly trust Rick, and Jack knows it's a good plan, he's about to agree when Gaines pages Rick over
his walkie-talkie. Jack points his gun on him again and orders him to answer it. Gaines asks where Eli is. Rick replies that he's out back digging a grave.
Gaines demands he get him this instant, 10-4. Jack tells Rick he has five minutes to get the van. What will happen after the five minutes are up, he doesn't
say.

11:39 A.M.-11:42 A.M.: Neill stops to take a leak when he spots Kevin's car parked on site. He has to hold it in while he cocks his rifle and checks why
the car is there. When he gets to the car, he finds Kevin sitting in the front seat unconscious with a seat belt tied around his face. Rick walks over
to the vans and tries to time it right so he can swipe one without arousing suspicion. Unfortunately, as soon as he snags one and starts up the ignition,
who should show up outside but Gaines. Rick rolls down the window for him, and is asked what he's doing. Rick says he's taking the van. Gaines says he
can see that; what's he taking it for? Rick is not the greatest liar in the world, and tells him he's taking it to help Eli load up the women. Luckily
for Rick and the Bauers, his fishy story doesn't have much time to sink in with Gaines as Neill pages him on the walkie-talkie to say he found Kevin out
cold in his car. Neill tells him where they are. Gaines says he'll be right there, then tells Rick to drive. Rick hides a rifle on the driver's side before
Gaines gets in.

11:42 A.M.-11:46 A.M.: Mike warns Palmer to be careful what he says to Ferragamo. When they get to his office, they find the building on fire and the street
packed with ambulances and fire trucks. Palmer starts to get out to ask what happened, but Mike orders him to stay in the limo while he does it. A cop
tells Mike that it was a possible gas explosion. Palmer disboeys Mike's order and gets out anyway to assess the damage. Mike tells him Ferragamo didn't
get out in time. Palmer angrily realizes Carl's men torched his office and surely destroyed his records. Mike doesn't want to jump to conclusions, and
says that it could have been an accident. When Mike figures out that Palmer plans to go public with this, he stresses that even if he's right, this isn't
the right way to tackle it. Tony's time is up. Green returns to his holding room to see what choice he has made. After a few seconds of silence, an assistant
enters the room to tell Green that she has a phone call. From Jack. Jack tells her that if she wants to do his job, she had better listen to him. Miss
High and Mighty replies that she doesn't take orders from him. He just talks over her by explaining that he's located the people behind the hit and has
been reunited with his family, whom they had kidnapped. He says he hasn't spoken to anyone at CTU because he couldn't risk putting his family in jeopardy,
and she has to believe him. Green states it isn't her job to believe him, it's her job to find him. So he gives her his location so she can do just that.
He tells her to bring in air support, says he'll get back in touch, and hangs up. Green calls Central Dispatch, and requests that they find out where Teri
and Kimberly have been for the last six hours.

11:46 A.M.-11:48 A.M.: It's been more than five minutes, as Jack sees when he checks his watch. After they all wonder what's holding Rick up, Jack decides
to use the time to make amends with his family. He promises Teri things won't be like they were before.

11:52 A.M.-11:54 A.M.: Green tells Dispatch over the phone that she wants two choppers sent. Tony and Nina have been let out of the holding cells. Green
tells them that Jack called and told her where he is, so they're flying some commandos in to pick him up. Tony asks her which one of them is she going
to suspend. She says neither of them, since she doesn't have actionable evidence that they withheld information from her. But she plans to keep looking.
Once Green is gone, Nina relays her plans to monitor the field units Dispatch sends. She asks Tony if he's okay. He says Green worked him pretty hard,
and if Jack hadn't called when he did... Nina thanks him for putting himself on the line for her, and promises she won't forget what he did. Perhaps Jack
isn't the only one in CTU that Nina is going to be riding the hobby horse with. Gaines and Neill have dragged Kevin's body out of his car. Gaines splashes
some water on his face to wake him up, while Rick stands by idly. When Kevin comes to and immediately announces that Jack is here and he killed Cofell,
Rick quietly slips back into the van and speeds off. Now that he knows Rick is up to no good, Gaines gets on the walkie-talkie to tell the others to seal
the gates, because Jack is on site.

11:54 A.M.-12:00 Noon: Jack can't wait any longer and is about to go to Plan B when Rick backs up with the van. Rick opens the doors and the Bauers rush
inside, where they are warned that Gaines found Kevin and knows Jack is here. Jack says he'll drive. The instant they leave the area, Gaines, Neill and
Kevin pull up and storm the shed. Gaines uncovers Eli's body, and the trio get back in the car to find Jack. After engineering some fancy driving right
past a checkpoint, Jack orders everyone to get down as the thugs open fire on the van. Bullets fly right through the vehicle, but manage to miss everyone.
After Jack drives through a chain link fence, Gaines, Neill and Kevin spot the van. They shoot the back windows out, then Gaines punctures one of the front
tires, leaving Rick and the Bauers no choice but to ditch the van. Jack makes everyone hide behind the wheels, as Gaines and the others continue to open
fire on them. Jack returns fire, then throws the palm pilot to Teri and tells her to take Kimberly and go through the woods to an abandoned water tower
located near the service road. He'll make sure CTU picks them up there. Since there's too many thugs for Teri and Kimberly to make a run for it, Rick grabs
the rifle he brought and says he'll help. Teri still doesn't want to split up, but through Jack's pleading, finally realizes it's for the best, and the
two of them escape into the woods. Jack gets another idea, pulls out his knife, and punctures holes in the gas tank, spilling gasoline around the van.
He shouts at Rick to run towards the trees in the distance, but on the way over, Rick gets shot in the arm. Jack jumps on top of Rick to make sure he stays
down (like he's about to get up after being shot) and, just as a number of thugs have come up to it, shoots a few rounds at the van until it explodes.
The explosion wipes out a bunch of the henchmen, but only knocks Gaines, Neill and Kevin down. Having bought some extra time, Jack helps Rick up and into
the woods. But they don't get very far before Rick falls down. Jack refuses to leave him behind, and goes back to save him, claiming he'll be able to stop
the bleeding as they soon as they get out of the woods. With Jack as his prop, Rick is led through the trees, while Gaines and the others follow in hot
pursuit. Tick, tick, tick...

Season 1 Ep 13

.Season: 1Episode: 13 First Aired: 2/26/2002

EPISODE OVERVIEW

Jack plays a deadly game of cat and mouse with Gaines that results in a final confrontation. CTU arrives on the scene and flies Jack and his family to safety.

Palmer plans to talk to the D.A. about Ferragamo's murder, but a threat from Carl changes his mind.

Nina discovers that a second assassin has arrived in LA, which means that Palmer's life is still in danger.

Recap

12:02 P.M.-12:07 P.M.: While Jack and Rick escape, Gaines, Kevin, Neill and a couple other thugs pick themselves up after the explosion. Gaines orders Neill
to take the jeep and cut Jack off at the service road, and the others to come up behind him. Gaines butts Kevin in the stomach with his rifle for letting
this happen, refusing to hear anything he has to say. Rick tells Jack to go on without him, as he's in too much pain to continue and he's slowing him down.
Jack agrees that Rick is -- and tells him to speed up. After a near brush with one of Gaines' men, they press on. Teri tries to follow Jack's route, but
is forced to make a detour to avoid the thugs. When she uses the palm pilot to see which way is best to go, Kimberly whines that it's not the way dad told
them to go. Never mind that it's, you know, the way where they won't get shot on sight. Nina attempts to call Jack, but gets no answer. Tony comes to her
with the results of some research he did -- Gaines' compound was leased six months ago by a company that doesn't exist. Nina is too worried that something's
happened to Jack to think about that. Tony isn't worried, because after all it's Jack, but Nina fears she should have listened to him, not Jack, and brought
Alberta Green in sooner. Nina apologizes to Tony for acting like such a martinet. Their conversation is broken up when the real martinet walks over to
say that she understands they're bringing in Jamey's mother. Nina tells Green that's so she can pick up Kyle. Green wants them to grill the woman first;
$300,000 was deposited in her bank account over the past four months.

12:07 P.M.-12:10 P.M.: Palmer's chauffeur is driving him and Mike back to the hotel. Palmer is on the warpath as he fills Mike in on his gameplan to first
talk to Maureen, then go straight to the district attorney. Mike admonishes him to get the facts first. Palmer doesn't want to get the facts first, he
just wants to give Maureen the story of her career. Mike recommends he tell Sherry before he tells anyone else, but the mention of that traitor does nothing
to calm the cranky senator down. Gaines is on his cell phone with Drazen. Gaines' announcement that Jack showed up at the compound and he expects to have
him back in custody soon pleases Drazen enough to think about giving him a second chance. Since Gaines wants to make good on his contract to kill Palmer,
Drazen says they'll talk about that after he sees Jack's body. After they hang up, Kevin asks about Drazen. Gaines responds that if they don't kill Jack,
Drazen will kill them. Kevin has a better idea -- since he heard Jack phoning in some GPS coordinates and he expects CTU backup to arrive any moment, perhaps
they should cut their losses and beat it. Gaines knows it doesn't work like that. No matter where you go, they'll find you. So if they want to live, Jack
has to die.

12:10 P.M.-12:12 P.M.: Rick has opted to follow Jack. Jack leads the kid into the water tower, and wonders why Teri and Kimberly aren't there yet. He sits
Rick down, assesses his damage, and tells him the bullet passed through his arm without hitting any bone or major arteries. He asks for some loose clothing
to make a tourniquet, so Rick directs him to a bandanna in his back pocket. Teri makes Kimberly stop for a moment to check where they are. But even with
the palm pilot, she has no idea. They're lost -- but Teri doesn't want to admit it.

12:16 P.M.-12:20 P.M.: Palmer and Mike are back at headquarters. The senator has decided to tell Sherry after all. It doesn't take her long to figure out
that Mike agrees with her. Palmer still doesn't want her covering up one more thing than she already has. Meanwhile, she doesn't want him to turn his career
and his family into a media circus, which is what will happen when Carl and his people get done hiding the evidence and twisting the truth. Sherry reminds
him that he needs power to fight Carl -- the kind of power he'll have after he becomes president. Mr. Morality has to sleep on that. Jack works himself
up into a frenzy that Teri and Kimberly aren't in the tower. After confirming with Rick that this was where he told them to wait, he calls Green to tell
her there's a new development and he needs to go back and find Teri and Kimberly. She asks him where to have the incoming team to pick them up. He gives
her the description and general location of the tower, and requests that the team pick up Rick even if he's not there when they arrive. After Jack ends
the call, Rick thanks him. Jack says to thank Kimberly instead. Rick is apologetic over what happened, and attempts to pin the blame on Dan. That doesn't
satisfy Jack, who feels Rick should have done something when he saw what was happening. Rick rudely blurts out that Dan was his friend. And Kimberly is
Jack's daughter. Before he leaves, Jack has a fatherly chat with Rick about accepting responsibility when presented with a second chance.

12:20 P.M.-12:24 P.M.: Teri thinks she knows where they are now. She and Kimberly have another close call when they see Neill and another guy in the distance.
They dodge the thugs and duck inside an abandoned cabin. Teri is forced to draw her gun, because Neill has ducked inside himself. Just as he's about to
come face to face with the women, Gaines' voice comes over his walkie-talkie, telling everyone to convene in a new location. After Neill exits, Teri says
to Kimberly that they wait until the coast is clear, then make a run for it. Her digestive track gets the better of her again, but before Kimberly can
do anything, she cries out, as she spotted Neill's face peeking in from a slat in the wall. Just when it seems the ladies have met their end, Jack comes
to their rescue, and pumps a few rounds at Neill from outside. Jack's gunfire eventually connects, sending Neill right through the cabin wall. Jack uses
the nice, new entryway Neill has created to come in and see if Teri and Kimberly are alright. Gaines, who heard the gunshots, gets on Neill's walkie-talkie
again to find out who was shooting and where they are. Jack tells his family they have to get out now. Kimberly picks the most opportune of moments to
ask where Rick is. Jack says he's waiting for them at the water tower, which is where they need to be ASAP. After checking to make sure no one else is
around, he leads them back out into the woods.

12:29 P.M.-12:31 P.M.: Jamey's mother, Mrs. Vasquez, is at CTU, tearily looking through photos of her daughter that are part of the belongings she has come
to claim. Nina and Tony enter the room where she's waiting. An angry Vasquez wants to know where Kyle is. Nina tells her she can get him in a bit, but
first they would like to ask her some questions. Vasquez would like to ask them a few questions too: for starters, how could they let Jamey bleed to death
and not do anything to help her. Tony offers a perfunctory apology, but swears they did try. Vasquez is too mad to answer their questions; instead, she
grabs a box of Jamey's stuff and begins to walk out. Tony stops her to lay down the law about how Jamey was a traitor who confessed. He warns her that
she could be tried as an accomplice, leaving Kyle with no one to take care of him. After sobbing quietly, Vasquez puts the box down on Jamey's desk, and
asks them what they want to know. Nina shows her the records that indicate she makes $45,000 a year, yet she has an account in her name with $400,000 in
it. Vasquez says it was from Jamey for Kyle in case something happened to her. Tony wonders where Jamey got the money, but Vasquez says she never asked.
He's a little steamed that she never asked, and warns her not to screw up at a time when Kyle needs her most.

12:31 P.M.-12:35 P.M.: Gaines repeatedly tries to get through to Neill and another guy, Maxton, over the walkie-talkie. Maxton finally gets on to say where
they are and how they're meeting up with another group in hopes of cutting Jack off at the service road. Jack still holds Neill's walkie-talkie, so it's
a sure bet he won't be at the service road. Jack has Teri give him the palm pilot to scope out new locations. When Gaines asks Maxton where Neill, the
only one he hasn't gotten a hold of, is, Maxton tells him he split off to the northeast side of the creek (where the cabin is). With Maxton's directions
and the palm pilot, Jack is able to pinpoint the best escape route. Palmer bangs on Maureen's hotel room door, demanding to be let in. After a pause, Maureen
takes a break from packing her suitcase to open for him. The annoyed senator asks why she's shutting him out. The equally annoyed reporter doesn't think
they have anything more to say to each other, but lets him in anyway. He says he no longer wants her to sit on the story, because Ferragamo is dead. After
saying it, he realizes she already knew. Her announcement that she's quit shocks him, but he has no intention of heeding her advice to follow her lead
and back off. At first he figures Carl's people bought her out, but when she ignores him to continue packing, it hits him that they threatened her. Palmer
changes his tune to concern and promises Maureen protection, but she considers her resignation her protection. When he blasts her for covering this up
like she's his wife or something, she takes Mike's stance -- these people are too powerful, and they've already covered the evidence up. On the verge of
tears, Maureen apologizes. That's all she can do.

12:35 P.M.-12:36 P.M.: Gaines and Kevin find Neill's body. Kevin searches it, and notices Neill's walkie-talkie is gone. Now Gaines knows Jack has heard
everything. After Vasquez leaves, Tony and Nina check her files on the computer. The cash was transferred from a place called Luca Univox in Belgrade.
When Nina says Jack did an assignment in Belgrade, Tony asks her to look through the mission files to see if there's a connection. But who do they know
from Belgrade in finance? Jack has led Teri and Kimberly safely to the creek, but the chopper that CTU was supposed to send is not there. As the three
are crouched down in panic, Jack attempts to call in over the palm pilot, but can't get a signal. In a huff, Kimberly asks about Rick again. Jack says
he was wounded, so he made him wait in the water tower until the chopper arrives. Kimberly doesn't feel like waiting herself, and decides to do some further
damage to her parents' marriage by throwing a kicking, screaming tantrum. The little princess disobeys her dad's orders by standing up, figuring no one
else is around. Smart move; Gaines is around, and very nearly hits her with his sniper rifle. Jack rushes the women to a new hiding spot behind a bush,
and tells them not to move until the chopper gets there. Only time will tell if Kimberly listens this time. A frightened Teri asks where he's going. His
reply is the last thing she wanted to hear -- "He wants me."

12:41 P.M.-12:43 P.M.: In the woods, Gaines and Kevin take aim at Jack, who's playing cat and mouse with them. Gaines sizes up right away what Jack is trying
to do, so he has Kevin circle around to the other side of the tree where Jack's hiding. Meantime, he gets on the walkie-talkie to taunt Jack about what
kind of shooting range he has from behind a tree. After the two of them make some small talk and Kevin fires off a couple of missed shots, the chopper
arrives.

12:43 P.M.-12:47 P.M.: Instead of taking Maureen's advice, Palmer has chosen to tell the DA. Mike and his men escort the senator to Carl's room, so he can
rub it in. Carl smugly pleads his case by letting Palmer know how much his services could be needed, and how great a team they used to make. When Palmer
doesn't buy that one, Carl instead hits him where it counts -- he hints that he planted evidence that would frame Keith for Ferragamo's murder. Palmer
roughs him up in a rage, but all Carl can say to that is the people they both work for know how to get what they want. After Carl walks off, Mike queries
Palmer as to what they were talking about, and says the DA is waiting. Palmer asks him to tell the DA he's sorry, he made a mistake. When Mike is understandably
confused, Palmer replies that he intends to win the presidency.

12:51 P.M.-12:57 P.M.: Teri and Kimberly flag down the CTU chopper. After it lands, some commandos get out, one of whom orders Teri to drop her weapon and
for both women to put their hands in the air. One commando asks if Teri is Mrs. Bauer, and tells her and Kimberly to put their hands down when she says
yes. Teri replies that they're both fine, but Jack needs their help. She points the general direction of where he went, and some other commandos head off
to find him while she and Kimberly are being escorted into the chopper. But Kimberly misses Rick, and defies orders yet again to run to the water tower
and see if he's there. Teri chases after her headstrong daughter into the tower, and tries to calm her down when Kimberly worriedly wonders why Rick isn't
where he was supposed to be. When she plans to go traipsing out in the middle of target practice to find him, Teri smacks some sense into her by saying
that she and her father need her now more than Rick does. Meanwhile, Rick ended up not taking responsibilities for his actions; he's snuck off down the
main highway. This time, Jack gets on the walkie-talkie to taunt Gaines about how he's losing blood from his wounds. Jack makes an attempt to appeal to
Gaines' humanity by suggesting that perhaps neither one of them has to die. Since Gaines doesn't have that option, Jack hopes he can at least tell him
what's going on. He brings up Cofell and Belgrade in hopes of learning the connection, but Gaines doesn't know any more than he does. Jack asks why his
family were brought into it. Gaines replies that they wanted to make it personal. Jack doesn't know who "they" are, but then it doesn't really matter since
he's found Gaines before Gaines finds him. With his gun pointed squarely at Gaines' back, Jack orders him to put down his weapon, in promise of protection.
Gaines knows CTU can't protect him, so he doesn't put the weapon. Instead, he stands up, pauses, then wishes Jack good luck as he turns around and quickly
opens fire. But not quick enough for Jack, who blows him away. Gaines' body doesn't have much time to cool before the commandos show up, ordering Jack
to drop his weapon and put his hands behind his head. Jack does as told, and the commando calls in on his radio that he's got Jack and there's another
man down. A very bloody Rick is waiting at the bus stop with some other people. The bus pulls up, he gets on board and takes a seat in the back.

12:57 P.M.-1:00 P.M.: Teri and Kimberly are waiting in the water tower. Jack dashes inside, and the three embrace that he's alive. The chopper is ready
to bring them in, so Jack helps the ladies board. As it takes off, Rick is heading to his own destination and Mike is bringing Palmer back to his hotel
room, stunning Sherry in the process. Over at CTU, Green tells Nina that Jack and his family have been rescued and will be there in a few minutes. Nina
has used a lead Vasquez gave them to unravel another piece of the puzzle, one which necessitates the threat on Palmer being upgraded. After backtracing
the funds to Belgrade, she and Tony discovered the same account shows a transfer to an assassin there, a person who left Yugoslavia this morning. There's
a second hitter, and he's in Los Angeles right now. Tick, tick, tick...

Season 1 Ep 14

.Season: 1 Episode:14 First Aired: 3/5/2002

EPISODE OVERVIEW
Jack is forced to leave his family when Green places him under arrest and holds him at CTU. Once there, Jack must explain his actions to District Director Ryan Chappelle.

Nina accompanies Teri and Kim to a clinic, where they are given a medical examination. Nina becomes suspicious of a phony FBI agent and decides to move the women to a safehouse.

Palmer goes to CTU and demands a meeting with Jack.

RECAP

1:02 P.M.-1:07 P.M.: The chopper brings Jack, Teri and Kimberly in to CTU. While Green and Nina are standing by to meet them, Green asks who is on board
and Nina says just Jack and his family, since the prisoners were picked up separately. After the chopper lands and they get out, Jack learns that Teri's
been having abdominal pain (from what she won't say). He tells her they've arranged for her and Kimberly to see a doctor. She wants to stay with him, but
he's got an appointment with Green. After some agents help the women into an ambulance, Green drops the bomb on Jack that she's placing him under house
arrest until he can be turned over to the FBI. While Jack is being escorted back inside, he asks Nina in secret if she could drop by the clinic they've
taken Teri and Kimberly to and check up on them. Nina says she needs Green's approval to do that. After Jack is placed in the holding room, Nina asks Green
for an hour off to go home and clean up. Green denies her request, because she knows Nina it's a lie. After Green tells her she'll give her an hour off
if she is truthful about where she's going, Nina admits Jack asked her to look after his family. Green rubs it in about how ironic it is that he asked
her to look after Teri, the woman the two of them hid their affair from, then gives her the hour off. Palmer asks one of his aides, Elizabeth, if they've
heard from the person who has projections on state polls, as he wants to know if the incident at the breakfast is hurting his votes.

1:07 P.M.-1:10 P.M.: In private, Sherry warns Palmer that he can't talk about Keith and he can't talk Ferragamo. Palmer says he's not going to talk about
either of them -- he's being blackmailed. In shock, Sherry asks who's blackmailing him and why. He says his financers, because they want to see him the
White House. Sherry is in disbelief that they could've planted evidence framing Keith for arson. Palmer tells her this is what happens when you cover things
up. Yet, that's exactly what he plans to do as far as Keith is concerned. At the clinic, Dr. Kent introduces herself to Teri and Kimberly. She says she's
been alerted to Teri's pain and would like to do an ultrasound. Teri continues to try to hide what happened, until Kimberly makes her have a change of
heart. After another doctor takes Kimberly into another room, Teri tells Dr. Kent that she was raped. Dr. Kent would like to draw blood and do some tests,
and strongly recommends Teri see a psychiatrist. Teri refuses the latter; with some hesitation, she admits she wants to keep this a secret from Jack.

1:15 P.M.-1:18 P.M.: Mike advises Palmer to hang out with some important senators to boost his profile in their states. Keith hears Mike mention Ferragamo's
name during the conversation and comes out to ask about him. Mike leaves, and Palmer admits to Keith that Ferragamo died in a fire. Keith figures out pretty
quick what occurred, and angrily tells his father to go to the police with the truth. Palmer reminds his son that he didn't go the police with the truth
in regards to Lyle Gibson. Keith breaks into tears, as Ferragamo was the only person who was there for him when he was having problems. After hinting that
he would have offed himself had Ferragamo not been there to help, Palmer consoles Keith that he plans to do what's best for him.

1:18 P.M.-1:24 P.M.: The Regional Director, Ryan Chappelle, and his boys enter CTU. He and Tony exchange greetings. Tony and Milo know Chappelle's presence
means Jack's in pretty big trouble. Green tells them what room they're holding Jack. One of the boys goes in first to set up a tape recorder. After he
leaves, Chappelle walks in and he and Jack exchange greetings of their own. Jack is a little taken back when Chappelle starts up the tape recorder for
the interrogation. Nina has arrived at the clinic, but instead of finding Teri and Kimberly in their room, she finds an FBI agent. The agent says he and
his team are there to interrogate the injured prisoners they're bringing into the clinic. Outside the room, Nina stops a doctor to ask where the Bauers
are. The doctor tells her the room they've been moved to. Nina goes there, says hi to Teri -- who is having the ultrasound and is more than a little surprised
to see her there -- and introduces herself to Kimberly. Nina says she's there to look out for them and will be in the waiting room if they need anything.
Teri inquires about Jack, and Nina tells her he's being questioned. Teri wants to go home, but Nina explains that they need to take every precaution first.
When Kimberly asks about Jack, Nina replies that because this was a terrorist plot they were caught in the middle of, Division, Secret Service and CTU
will want to question him first. Before Nina leaves, Teri thanks her for helping save them. After she goes back into the hall, Nina gets a funny feeling.
She returns to the other room she first went in, but the guy who said he was an FBI agent is gone. She spots him with his back turned to her in the hallway,
along with a woman who's wearing an FBI tag. Nina interrupts the woman's phone call to ask her if the other agent is FBI. When the woman replies that he
is, Nina says she'd like to talk to him again, as they met in the hospital room either. But as soon as the woman says that couldn't be since they both
just got there, the other agent turns around and Nina sees it's not the same guy. After the woman says they're the only two FBI agents at the hospital,
Nina rushes off in a panic to check on Teri and Kimberly.

1:29 P.M.-1:33 P.M.: Jack explains to Chappelle that he didn't call CTU earlier because he was worried things could get out of control. But even though
he did eventually call, Chappelle says he can't reinstate him simply because he broke protocol. In disbelief, Jack tells Chappelle that Palmer is still
in danger and he can help. When Chappelle doesn't change his mind, Jack goes off on him about how he never deviated from his original goal of protecting
Palmer. Chappelle knows that, and thinks that may be what will ultimately save his job, but he still doesn't care to hear excuses and plans to leave it
up to the justice system to decide. After Jack yells at him some more, Nina calls Chappelle. Chappelle hands Jack the phone and decides their meeting is
adjourned. Chappelle leaves and has one of his men keep Jack company during the call. Jack tells Nina that Chappelle didn't listen and he's been turned
over to the authorities. He thanks Nina for looking after his family. But Nina's mind is elsewhere; namely on the dirty agent Walsh told Jack about. Could
there have been more than one agent? Jack has already thought about that, and figures someone had to recruit Jamey. Whether or not they were in CTU or
District or Secret Service, they have to assume someone else is out there. A little paranoid from her incident with the FBI agent, Nina explains that she
just wants to be extra careful when it comes to Teri's and Kimberly's safety. Since they're being examined right now, Nina agrees to call back later so
they can talk to Jack. They hang up. Green comes to Tony to see if he's found out anything new in regards to the backup assassination plan. Tony says they've
uncovered three additional shooters, who all entered the country the past few days. But they can only find the names of two of them. Green needs Tony to
find out the third name pronto. Meanwhile, the mystery assassin is in the desert in the middle of nowhere, spying on passing cars with a set of binoculars
and his palm pilot.

1:33 P.M.-1:36 P.M.: A car and one of the red vans pull up in front of a shed in the desert. Kevin gets out of the car and orders the guys in the van to
put equipment in the shed before he comes in to brief them on the next strategy. He makes a phone call to Drazen while the assassin checks him out on the
palm pilot. Kevin tells Drazen they just arrived at the transfer point and Gaines is dead. He attempts to suck up by saying that he tried to tell Gaines
there were gaping holes in his plan. When Drazen asks him to get to the point, Kevin says he can fix everything -- why, he even managed to kill a witness
whom no one else could find. Drazen turns down the offer, because, as he puts it, "Plan B is already in effect." Kevin has no idea what that means, and
isn't about to find out from the source since Drazen hangs up on him. Looking around in hopes of figuring it out, Kevin spots Drazen's plan B spying on
him from behind a dune. Kevin slowly draws his gun just as the others bring the equipment in the shed as told, but it's too late. The assassin holds a
detonator in his hand, and blows the shed to pieces. Kevin was close enough to the explosion to get knocked down. Before he can get up, the assassin stands
and strides over to him, pulling out his gun on the way there. After kicking Kevin's pistol away from him, the man asks if there's anything left in the
van. When Kevin tells him to go to hell, the assassin shoots him point blank.

1:41 P.M.-1:42 P.M.: Tony and Green discuss what to do with Palmer. Tony says they have to get him out of L.A. and away from the backup shooters. Green
has him leave a case file with her to look over before she makes her judgement call. He's about to leave when she stops him to bluntly ask if he's satisfied
with his position at CTU. He says he is. Since she wants to play games, she coyly tells him that she's always thought he was too talented to be third banana.
He gets right to the point and asks her what she wants him to do. She does likewise and says that Chappelle will want to talk to him before making his
final evaluation of Jack, as he was the one called for a lockdown, and they all know Nina isn't impartial when it comes to Jack. Tony asks what he's supposed
to say. She wants him to tell Chappelle that even though Jack's family was in danger, there were better ways he could have handled it without breaking
protocol. She tries to sway Tony by saying that he never would have had to call Mason had Jack been upfront with him in the first place.

1:42 P.M.-1:44 P.M.: Green walks into the holding room to tell Jack that Chappelle has asked her to personally debrief him. After admitting she's uncomfortable
doing what used to be Jack's job, she says it's pointless to ask questions, so he might as well tell her what he thinks she should know. Jack wants to
call Teri and Kimberly first. When she says she can't grant that, he tells her to cut the crap about feeling uncomfortable. After she turns the tape recorder
back on, he says they need to search the Balkan terrorist database, as they're the ones behind the hit and financed by Cofell. When Jack refers to Cofell
in the past tense and Green demands an explanation, he says Cofell died three hours ago, but doesn't say how. He does say that they traced the cash back
to Cofell Industries. Nina calls Tony with her problem regarding the questionable agent. Tony wonders if it's possible the FBI didn't communicate their
plans well to all their people, but she doesn't think that's it and asks him to send someone over to dust for prints on a phone she saw the guy touching.

1:44 P.M.-1:47 P.M.: Keith talks with his mother to try to find out why his father has suddenly done an about face. She says they don't have to worry about
that now. He says they do. He also stuns her when he admits he knows about Ferragamo. Believing there's a fine line between covering up an accident and
covering up a murder, Keith announces he's going to the police. Sherry puts her foot down and orders him not to, because it's not his decision to make
and he has to respect the decision that was made. Their heart-to-heart talk is cut short when Palmer comes in and announces they have to pack up their
things and leave the state this instant -- the threat assessment has been upgraded and it's too dangerous for them to stay there, so they're being relocated
to the Dallas Air Force Base in Nevada. After she checks to make sure he consulted with Mike first, Sherry asks why has the threat been upgraded if Jack
is in custody. He says Jack may not be working alone, and there are probably others. Sherry and Keith grab their things and follow him.

1:51 P.M.-1:55 P.M.: Tony is called in to speak with Chappelle. Chappelle tells him that they're deciding whether or not to pursue criminal or disciplinary
charges against Jack, and since Tony is the most impartial observer, their decision may rest on his testimonial. Tony admits that while he's not Jack's
#1 fan, he doesn't disagree with a single thing he has done since midnight last night. Chappelle says fair enough. But it's not the answer he wanted. The
Palmers and Mike are all in their limo. Palmer asks Sherry if she's talked to Nicole. She says she has, and the people she's with will meet them at the
airport. Mike gets off the phone with the Pentagon, and tells Palmer that he found out about Jack as requested. He used to be in Special Forces and led
a 6-man team into Kosovo a couple years ago. Everything suddenly comes back to Palmer. He even knows who Drazen is, since he remembers Jack's assignment
as the Drazen mission. Since Jack was the only one from his team who survived, Palmer believes Jack blames him for the loss of his men -- and this is his
revenge. Elizabeth packs her bags and asks Patty if she could give something to Sherry that she didn't get a chance to give her herself. Patty wonders
why she's not coming with her. Elizabeth says she's taking a later flight, because she has an aunt in a nursing home that she promised her mother she'd
visit. Elizabeth leaves and gets in the hotel elevator.

1:55 P.M.-2:00 P.M.: When the elevator reaches her floor, Elizabeth gets out and knocks on somebody's apartment door. The mystery assassin opens up and
acknowledges her by name. Elizabeth says she can't stay long. He says then they shouldn't waste any time. They close the door and tear each other's clothes
off in passion. Nina is in the hospital room where she met the phony FBI agent. The real CTU agent Tony called is checking for prints on the phone, but
he can't find any. Nina wonders if housekeeping came in. The agent tells her it wasn't housekeeping, the guy was a professional. Nina calls Green in the
middle of her interrogation with Jack to request permission to move Teri and Kimberly to the safe house now. Green grants it. The results of the ultrasound
in hand, Dr. Kent tells Teri that her pain was the result of a benign follicular cyst which burst. When Teri asks how it could've burst, Dr. Kent says
it could have been from the assault or from her last period. To rule out one of those, Dr. Kent says she'd like to do a pregnancy test. Nina barges into
their room to announce that Teri and Kimberly have to get their things. When Dr. Kent tells her they're not finished, Nina says there's a change of plans
and they need to go to the safe house now. Teri and Kimberly do as told and follow Nina out the door. Dr. Kent hands Teri a bag containing a home pregnancy
kit as a parting gift, and recommends she do it at the earliest opportunity. From behind a swinging door, the phony FBI agent spies on the three of them
leaving the hospital. Nina sees him out of the corner of her eye and goes to check, but the guy is again gone. As she leads Teri and Kimberly into a van
waiting outside, he watches them, this time from a window. He calls someone to say the women are leaving now. Palmer makes a surprise visit to CTU. Tony
asks if he can help him. Palmer replies that he's come to see Jack. Tick, tick, tick...

Season 1 Ep 15

.Season:1 Episode: 15 First Aired: 3/12/2002
EPISODE OVERVIEW
Jack and Palmer finally meet face to face and learn of their connection through Operation Nightfall. They work together to track down those who are seeking revenge on them.

A member of Palmer's staff has a romantic encounter with the would-be assassin.

Teri and Nina have a revealing conversation about Jack at the safehouse. Read full recap »

2:02 P.M.-2:04 P.M.: Elizabeth and the assassin have sex. Palmer warns Tony, who won't let him in, that he can go over his head. Tony realizes that, and
says Chappelle will likely let him see Jack, provided they know why first. Palmer stands his ground and refuses to state his business, and Tony caves in
and calls Chappelle. Over the phone and out of earshot of Palmer, Tony tells Chappelle that he doesn't think he can stall any longer. When Chappelle learns
that Palmer still hasn't said what he wants with Jack, he tells Tony not to give him clearance until he assesses the situation himself; he doesn't want
to put the senator and Jack together. After their call is over, Tony asks Milo if he's gotten any new info on the backup shooters. Milo says he ID'd one
-- Alexis Drazen, who is likely connected to two other shooters, and stopped in D.C. for a couple days before ending up in L.A. There's more to the story
that he hasn't quite figured out yet. Milo already sent a copy of the report to Nina's computer. Tony requests his own copy.

2:04 P.M.-2:07 P.M.: Teri wonders why Nina is taking her and Kimberly to a safe house. Nina says she just wants to question them. Kimberly wonders if Jack
is going to be there. Nina replies not at first, but maybe when he's done being prosecuted, he'll pop over for tea. Teri asks if they're still in danger
and if Jack knows where they're being taken. Nina tells her they're not and he does. While Nina is otherwise preoccupied with a phone call, Kimberly asks
her mother what the doctor said. Teri replies that it was a benign burst cyst. Kimberly is about to question why the doctor had her sent out of the room
then, but Teri doesn't want to discuss it. During their interrogation, Jack requests a break from Green, so he can find out how his family is doing at
the clinic. He's shocked and disgusted when she responds that they've already left, and are on their way to a safe house with Nina. Furious that she didn't
tell him they were being moved, Jack gets up and announces that their meeting is over. He demands she get Chappelle right now, which, after a stunned look,
she does. Elizabeth and the assassin snuggle after sex. She says she didn't think she'd see him again after D.C. Also, Palmer has to go to Nevada, and,
as one of the few people in the campaign who were told about it, she has to go with him. She gets up to go take a shower, and he asks if he could tag along
for the ride. She's ecstatic that he asked. He rifles through her purse without her seeing. She invites him into the shower with her.

2:07 P.M.-2:11 P.M.: Palmer calls a friend in the Department of Defense to help him get clearance a little faster than Chappelle wants to provide it. The
friend says he'll take care of Chappelle. Chappelle comes out finally and introduces himself to the senator. Palmer asks why he can't get in to see Jack.
Chappelle explains that since Jack is under internal investigation, the procedure for such cases is to keep them in isolation until they've been fully
interrogated, and he doesn't have the authority go around that. Palmer insists he can assist in the investigation. Before Chappelle can reply, Tony comes
over to say that Alan Optican, the friend Palmer was just talking to, wants to speak to him. Alan tells Chappelle to give Palmer whatever he needs. Chappelle
has no choice but to comply, and makes Tony bring Jack over. Palmer orders Chappelle to shut all the security cameras down, as their conversation is going
to be private. Chappelle promises they'll be talking in a secure environment. Tony enters the holding room to tell Jack that Nina called; Teri and Kimberly
are fine, and are being guarded by Paulson and Breeher. That satisfies Jack. Before leaving, Tony says that Chappelle wants to see him in the conference
room. As Jack is being led there, he bumps into Milo, and apologizes for switching the cards on him. Milo understands he did what he had to. Jack greets
Palmer in the conference room, but doesn't get much of a welcoming back. Palmer barks for the agents who escorted Jack in to leave and close the door,
then orders Jack to sit. Though Jack has zero respect for Green's authority, zero respect for Chappelle's authority, zero respect for Mason's authority
and seemingly zero respect the authority of anyone else above him in CTU, he transforms himself into quite the kowtowing peasant whilst in Palmer's presence.
Or at least for five seconds anyway, until Palmer ticks him off by declaring that he knows why he wants him dead. Jack shouts that he doesn't know what
he's talking about, so Palmer reminds him of Kosovo and how he holds him responsible for the loss of his men. Jack is a little beside himself that Palmer
knows about Operation Nightfall. Palmer says that he authorized the mission. And he's well aware that Jack took out Victor Drazen and his inner circle,
while Victor Drazen and his inner circle took out all six of Jack's men. Angry that Palmer is insinuating that he wants revenge, Jack blasts the foolhardy
senator how he wants revenge on him so badly that he almost died today trying to protect him. He says if he blames anyone for the loss of his men, he blames
himself. The conversation degenerations into a shouting match (at least until Jack attempts to have some restraint, which is more than can be said for
Palmer) with Palmer asking what Jack was doing at the power plant, and Jack admitting that he went for Hayes' gun to create a diversion and get him out
of the room. Palmer is confused, so Jack clarifies that he people who want him dead kidnapped Teri and Kimberly and threatened to kill them if he didn't
assist in the assassination. Palmer suddenly realizes what an ass he's been, while Jack suddenly realizes that nobody told him this when he came in. Jack
confirms it's true and Chappelle can verify it. But a speechless Palmer doesn't appear to need the verification.

2:16 P.M.-2:18 P.M.: Nina, Teri and Kimberly arrive at the safe house, located in sunny suburbia. Agents Ted Paulson and Jeff Breeher were waiting outside
to meet them. Nina introduces them to each other, telling the Bauers that they worked with Jack for years and are tops. Breeher asks Nina where she wants
them. She tells him one inside, one out. Breeher goes in, Paulson stays out. Nina takes Teri and Kimberly on a guided tour and comforts them that there
are motion detectors set up. Kimberly asks how long they have to stay there, but Nina doesn't give much of an answer. Teri goes to the bathroom, and decides
to use the opportunity to take the home pregnancy test.

2:18 P.M.-2:21 P.M.: Palmer explains to Jack his position on the senate three years ago, when the CIA notified him of the massacres that Victor Drazen had
been committing in Kosovo. When the usual channels were of little help in terminating Victor, he turned to the one person whom they both know could get
timely results -- Robert Ellis. Palmer says his committee funded Ellis, whose job was to implement the missions that took down Victor while seeing to it
that names were kept hidden. He must have not done a very good job in the latter, since both Jack and Palmer are on someone's hitlist. Jack understands
that if they could track down both of them, they can certainly do likewise with Ellis. Somewhere in a nightclub in New Orleans, a swarthy, somber gentleman
is playing Yahtzee for money with another guy far more excitable than he. The man's phone rings. He answers it, saying it's Ellis. Palmer called him, and
Ellis is neither happy to hear the sound of his voice, nor to learn that Jack is in the room with him. Ellis tells his partner to beat it, and asks Palmer
what he and Jack are doing together when he went through a lot of trouble to keep them apart. Palmer replies that someone close to Victor connected them,
and now wants revenge on the two-year anniversary of Operation Nightfall. Ellis is in disbelief that somebody else found out about Operation Nightfall
and put him on a hitlist. He asks to speak to Jack, who gets on the line. After some small talk, Ellis tells him if they want to crack this case, they're
going to need each others' help. But Jack says he's under investigation, and his hands are tied. Ellis says he'll retrieve a closed file on Nightfall which
will give the names of Drazen's associates. Meantime, Jack needs to find out where the money is coming from. Since Ellis needs him to be able to get into
an account he doesn't have access to unless he gets reinstated, Ellis recommends he get reinstated. After Jack gives the place where he can be reached,
Ellis tells him they'll compare notes later.

2:21 P.M.-2:24 P.M.: In the bathroom, Teri is looking at the results of her test. Blue line. She's pregnant. And speechless. Nina knocks on the door to
tell her she put some clean clothes on the bed. Teri thanks her and hides the kit's box. Both of them back from the airport, Elizabeth bumps into Sherry
in the hallway outside the hotel room. Surprised, Elizabeth says she was told not to fly out as they're not going to Nevada. Sherry tells her that Palmer
had to take care of something first, and felt they'd be safest waiting for him here. After Sherry goes in another room, Elizabeth calls up her boyfriend,
who's having lunch at an outdoor cafe. She says she hopes he didn't book his flight to Nevada. He didn't. Elizabeth disappointedly breaks it to him that
she might not be going. He asks her when she'll know for sure, and if she does stay in town, will she remain at the hotel. An hour or so, and she isn't
sure. While they're talking, Andre Drazen comes over and sits next to him. After a bit of phone flirting, they hang up, and Andre asks him, Alexis Drazen,
if that was the girl. Alexis says yes, though Palmer might not be going to Nevada after all -- which is better for them according to Andre. Andre asks
if there was any problem disposing of Gaines' men. Alexis replies that there wasn't, then rubs it in that he told him using Gaines was a mistake. A hardly
humble Andre wants to move on. The sound of a woman laughing causes him to look over at her and muse that she looks like Martina. Alexis tells him to get
over it; their sister is dead. Andre changes the subject, asking if Alexis has spoken to a Jovan and a Mishko. Alexis replies that the pair have sight
of their targets. He gives his word that Palmer will be dead by the end of the day.

2:24 P.M.-2:26 P.M.: Kimberly comes into the bathroom to ask for some toothpaste. Teri tells her where it is, which just so happens to be right next to
the box. Kimberly sees it, and gives her mother another one of her patented evil seed looks. Teri says Dr. Kent just wanted her to take it as a precaution.
Relieved, Kimberly is on her way out when Teri stops her, admitting without saying a word that she is pregnant. Confused, Kimberly doesn't understand how
Eli could have knocked her up so fast. Teri explains that it was Jack obviously, though she seems just as confused as Kimberly does. Kimberly is enraged
that the two of them were trying to have a baby without telling her, but Teri insists that's not how it was. Kimberly decides that it's only been about
two hours since her last tantrum, so to make up for lost time, she storms out of the room. Teri follows, and yells at her for being a spoiled brat, considering
that she wasn't expecting the baby either, and birth control isn't 100% effective like abstinence is. Kimberly coldly tells her fine, she doesn't need
her permission anyway. Teri replies that she doesn't get it, and once in a while she should think about what others are going through. Then she goes back
to her room to think about what she's done. Kimberly changes her tune and tries to apologize, but Teri closes the bathroom door in her face.

2:31 P.M.-2:32 P.M.: Jack and Palmer are having a three-way discussion with Ellis in regards to potential suspects. Milo enters the room. They had him called
in so Ellis can talk to him personally. Ellis the egomaniac decides to impress Milo with his hacker's knowledge (or scare him with it) by letting the kid
know that he knows about the socket that Milo just opened. Ellis skips the small talk and tells Milo he's going to need some names... and his login and
password. Milo is stunned, so Jack makes him hand it over. Ellis logs in with it, and tells the others that he's only found partial results. Meaning something's
been removed. Ellis is decidedly on his guard when he spots a suspicious man walking into the club, and secretely pulls out his gun. He tells Milo that
he's sending a file to his server, and asks that he print out copies for Jack and Palmer.

2:32 P.M.-2:36 P.M.: Teri and Kimberly have made amends. They're sharing a meal together in the kitchen, noting how it feels good to be safe now. Kimberly
apologizes again for acting stupid, and asks Teri when she's going to tell dad. Teri decides to tell him right now, so she calls CTU. Tony answers, then
says it's a bad time. Teri asks him to have Jack call her back first chance he gets, and hangs up. Nina walks in smack in the middle of their make-up hug,
and sheepishly announces that she needs to start debriefing them, Teri first. After the two have left, Kimberly snatches a cell phone and goes to her room.
Nina sets up a camcorder to tape the interrogation, telling Teri that it's standard procedure. Kimberly calls Rick at home while he's dressing his wound.
She asks him if he's okay, then recommends he see a doctor, because he doesn't sound good. Rick doesn't want to. Kimberly recommends he turn himself in.
Rick doesn't want to. Kimberly says she'll tell the police that he helped them escape, 'cause then they'll, like, let him off the hook and stuff. Rick
doesn't want her to. He demands she doesn't tell them anything about him. But she says they're about to interrogate her and, because she's such an upstanding
citizen, a fantastic daughter and just a really, really good person, she simply can't lie. Rick says if she can't lie, then tell them that he was in the
dark about things and Dan threatened him. After mulling it over, Kimberly agrees to that, provided he turn himself in. Rick needs to think about it as
well, since he doesn't come from a good family, and his parents can't afford to buy him Johnnie Cochran and the Dream Team for his trial. Kimberly blathers
on that it's just the right thing to do. Rick reminds the good little samaritan that bringing her to Gaines = kidnapping, and kidnapping = 20 to life.
Oh.

2:36 P.M.-2:38 P.M.: Palmer laughs with Jack how the day's events have nothing to do with his running for president, nothing to do with the primary, nothing
to do with his being black. Except Jack's not laughing. Sherry calls her husband to say she's back at the hotel... where is he? When he tells her he's
at CTU to take care of some things, she wants to know what's going on. He responds that he's trying to find out who's after him, so he can't chat. After
he talks his problems out loud, Jack gives him an emotion-free apology for what he's going through. Palmer laughs at that too -- after all Jack and his
family have been through, he's concerned about some stranger and his family. He probably isn't, since after all, the apology was emotion-free. Palmer uses
Jack's shoulder to cry on regarding his not being there for Keith, who has always been there for him. He says it's not easy being the son of a politician.
Jack simplifies that statement; it's not easy being a son or a daughter or a father. Palmer asks if Teri and Kimberly are okay. Jack wishes he knew.

2:43 P.M.-2:49 P.M.: Milo gives Jack and Palmer each a stack of Nightfall stuff that Ellis just sent him. No word on the missing file, though. While browsing
through the papers, Palmer alerts Jack to a key piece of evidence therein that was never noted in their initial reports. Victor Drazen's wife and daughter
were in a bunker that they blew up, and they died in the explosion. Payback time. A panicked Palmer asks Jack who has the authority to add additional security
to Teri and Kimberly. Chappelle does. Palmer pages someone to have Chappelle sent in immediately. Teri's debriefing has begun. Nina asks about Rick. Teri
says he gave them a gun and helped them escape. But she doesn't know his last name. Maybe Kimberly doesn't know it either. Maybe... no one knows it. Teri
tells her that Kimberly met him through Janet, then lapses off into how her daughter hasn't grown out of her problems like other people said she would
once she became a teenager. She's surprised when Nina says she's sure Kimberly will based on what Jack said to her, since his job seems so secretive to
her that she can't picture him talking about his family at work. Nina tries to get back on track, but Teri changes the subject again, wondering if Jack
ever talked about her while they were separated. Nina says he never discussed his marriage, even though she and everybody else at CTU somehow knew he was
having problems. Staring into space, Teri continues on about how after they got back together, Jack told her he'd been with someone else. From the looks
they exchanged when they got off the chopper, Teri guesses it was Nina he'd been with. Nina stops the camcorder immediately. After a long pause, she admits
that she did sleep with Jack, but only during the separation. He soon realized it was a mistake. Teri asks if she thought it was a mistake as well, and
doesn't believe Nina when she swears they stopped sleeping together. Nina apologizes in hopes of returning to the interview, but Teri needs to take a break.

2:53 P.M.-2:55 P.M.: Palmer tells someone over the phone that he's leaving in a few minutes, then tells Jack he can't wait around for Ellis. Jack replies
that he's still technically under arrest, and they won't let him work here. Palmer decides to do something about that. With Jack by his side, he goes to
Chappelle and demands Jack be given his old privileges back, as the matter at hand is more important than the charges against him. Green trots over to
throw her weight around, stating that he doesn't have the authority to decide what Jack gets. Neither does Green, obviously, since Chappelle tells her
to put a cork in it. He then apologizes to Palmer, claiming the agency would be held in contempt if Jack were reinstated without a hearing. Jack butts
in to say that he doesn't have to be reinstated permanently; just give him provisional status until the end of the day so he can share his wealth of knowledge.
A noticeably irritated Chappelle gives in and gives Jack what he wants. With one minor setback -- Jack answers to him. Chappelle wishes Palmer good luck
before departing. Jack then gives Green the evil eye before Palmer pulls him aside. Palmer says that Secret Service wants him to leave the state immediately,
as it's not safe here. Jack agrees. Since Drazen's people want both of them dead today, Palmer tells Jack he's not leaving the state; he's going to stay
and help him personally snuff the baddies out, or else they and their families will live in fear for the rest of their lives. Though he clearly doesn't
think it a good idea, Jack understands, and says he'll follow up with Ellis, then get back to him. He's about to leave when Palmer apologizes for misjudging
him. Palmer holds his hand out, and they shake on their newfound friendship.

2:55 P.M.-3:00 P.M.: Nina gives Kimberly the dreaded Rick question she was expecting. When Kimberly asks what about him, Nina wants confirmation that he
was one of the kidnappers. Kimberly won't do that, and pins most of the blame on Dan, swearing that Rick was just as surprised as she and Janet were. Nina
makes it clear as day that she thinks Kimberly is full of crap. The phone rings, letting Kimberly off the hook with Nina, who goes to answer it. Jack called
to tell her Chappelle reinstated him under provisional status for the rest of the day. Nina, who for whatever reason is in a bad mood, isn't even able
to fake enthusiasm. Jack gives her the heads up that two additional teams are being sent over to the safe house, as he now believes Teri and Kimberly are
targets as well. He stresses that this is not something they need to know. He asks to speak to Teri, so Nina goes to hand her the phone. Tony gave him
the message, and Jack wants to know what was so important. Teri has changed her mind about telling him. When he then wonders why she sounds funny, she
claims she's tired -- so tired in fact that she looks like she's about to cry. Jack says whatever she may need, Nina will get for her (provided she wants
what Nina has to offer), then bids goodbye. Teri walks back out into the living room, and Kimberly excitedly goes over to find out how it went with Jack.
Her excitement turns to disappointment when Teri replies that she didn't tell him, because it wasn't the right time. Kimberly knows something happened,
but Teri won't say what. She also doesn't want Kimberly around either; she coldly tells her to go finish her interview with Nina. Ellis returns Jack's
call while he's on his way to the men's room. He says he mailed a few things to Milo, but he still hasn't located the missing file. Hopefully, with what
he sent over, Milo can. Ellis thinks the file was removed deliberately, which leads him to believe it has the evidence they're looking for. With detective's
skills like that, it is no wonder he's the guy whom presidential candidates and CTU agents turn to first. Ellis walks over to the trough urinals, and prepares
to relieve himself with his back turned to the door and his gun out of sight. Another gentleman enters the men's room, while Jack asks Ellis if he has
any idea when the file was stolen and who might have had access to it. He's in the middle of answering (and probably urinating) when his present company
reaches around his throat with a wire, hoists him in the air and proceeds to choke the joie de vivre right out of him. Wondering why Ellis has suddenly
gotten so quiet, Jack calls out his name over and over again. But Ellis is unable to come to the phone right now -- he's in the middle of receiving his
lagniappe. Teri lies down on the bed in her room. Tick, tick, tick...
