Well, there's casting, scouting locations, ordering sets, setting up shots, script readings with the cast, coordinating with the producers... and that's only a little bit of what they do before they call "action!"

May have taken him a little bit longer because it was his first time but I think 2-3 weeks sounds about right.

Then the post prod. I'd say there's already about 4 days of editing, then looping and ADR if needed. The director doesn't have to be there for the ADR I think unless it's something big but he's most likely sitting in the editor's lap during editing

Yuppp all of this is what I mean. I didn't have any idea about all the prep time and what happens after. It sounds like a really cool experience, I wonder what Josh feels about the experience and if he rather be behind the camera for the future. I hope the S4 DVD gives us some behind the scenes.

I know right!!!! Thats exactly what I am thinking, though from the previous DVDs, it seems they usually do BTS stuff later in the season

IMO, S1 special feautres where the best, I was disappointed with S2, and S3 was just ok too.

I haven't bought any of them but that's because I think the DVD set version that they sell here doesn't include any special features, idk

Now you know! the DVDs usually have behind the scenes, deleted scenes

"I smiled at my lawyer because he's cute" is all I've retained from the latest episode! Will is more than that! I'm impatiently waiting for a Will-centric episode o,r at least, one where he appears for more than one minute. I don't like the fact that these guest stars they're lining up are hogging precious screen time to which the regulars are rightly entitled.
