But shouldn't the award be given to whoever was the best in a given year, not taking into account how many times they won in the past?

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy that they gave it to Jeff Daniels and not Jon Hamm if they were going to for something new, but that's the only reason behind their decision, imo. Well, I think Daniels is excellent in TNR but the category was very competitive this year. And  for Danes. I could have put money on it too. Washington was there for network representation and Farmiga, although excellent, is not supposed to be the lead of the show so she had her work cut out for her.Next year, Tatiana will get nominated, so watch out, Claire Danes __________________
