I don't think Alicia really knew who she wanted to be. She was married to Peter for so long that she got accustomed to being Peter's wife. Then she was at Lockhart Gardner and was with Will for a good amount of time and she knew what it was like to be in an exciting relationship. (sneaking around can be exciting no matter how wrong it is). Alicia has never really been Alicia, and really, do we know who the real Alicia is?

That's just Alicia's twisted logic. She doesn't know that she's turning into her mother-in-law.There are deep mother-daughter issues are at play here and it has laid a deep impact to Alicia so consciously or sub-consciously Alicia doesn't want to be like her mother. 
Who can not love her?
