Will and Alicia [played by Juliana Margulies] are very close and went to Georgetown Law School together, and there is a real history there and that is a big part of obviously why she is coming to this firm. Will is an incredibly successful lawyer in Chicago; I think he is really good at what he does. I think he really enjoys living his life. He is methodical, he is loyal, he strikes me as someone who takes what he does very seriously but also tries to have a good time. He likes the Cubs, not the White Sox (laughs). He's a huge Bears fan, and I think he has a secret shrine to Michael Jordon in his living room but no one knows about it (laughs). When you work on a character, they always have to have secrets, you know?

There’s a sense of “I love these two people together, and there’s so many reasons why right now they shouldn’t be together as she works out her relationship with her husband, and she has two kids, and Will’s her boss.” And yet there is this sort of pull and connection between them that has some sort of tragic components to it. It’s an all star cast – had you worked with the supporting actors (Noth, Baranski etc) before?
Josh Charles, I have known forever, and I actually had suggested him for the role.

I was fascinated by the episode where Alicia shares an intense kiss with her superior at the law firm, who happens to be her old law-school boyfriend. She then flees and goes home and initiates sex with her husband. What did you think about that scene?
Alicia's husband has cheated on her, she hasn't been touched in nine months, and she essentially uses her husband as a tool to satisfy herself. It was a bold choice for the writers and the show to include that sex scene in an aggressive and dominant way not often seen on network TV. And it was fun to play it that way.

Q: If you had to choose between Will and Peter, who would you choose?
JM: You know, I don’t know. Honestly, that’s a great question but it’s hard because you have to really look at it. Peter is the father of her children and when you see him with them, you can understand why she would choose him. On the other hand, Will is unbelievably dashing and handsome and in love with her as she is with him I think. So what do you sacrifice? I don’t know.

kdimmick: Alicia starting it. Something along the lines of Alicia inquiring about Tammy or Will noticing Alicia has an issue with Tammy in which would cause him to go 'hold up, YOU turned me down!' She doesn't know what he's talking about....the 2nd message comes to light, Alicia is overwhelmed and just dives lips first into Will.
Srta_Parker:when Tammy says bye bye. I think Tammy will leave Will because of Alicia. She told him she will be with him until it´s boring so if Will shows some attraction to Alicia I don´t think Tammy stays.
carito: Kalinda somehow discovers the lost voicemail, shows it to Alicia, she confronts Will, he tells her what he feels but she doesn't react, so he storms out of the office and she snaps out of it and runs after him
Lily_Marie: I don't think the next kiss will have anything to do with the voicemail. It'll probably be sometime during the seond half of the season, around episode 17 maybe. It will be because of a case. And I'm hoping for an argument, a full blown verbal fight which gets a little personal. And she kisses him and then runs off again leaving Will confused.
sarina_florrick:I'm predicting it happens in the episode that has Canning in it (14?), the case will make Alicia realize she should follow her heart in love things and she'll kiss Will but he'll go like 'I've moved on' and my little shipper heart will be broken again
dentyne.ice:I would guess that it will probably be in the office, maybe when one of them or both experiences an emotional case or hardship in their life and their feelings will just come out like they did last time.

Hi Everyone! I posted my introduction in the Peter and Alicia Appreciation thread, but figured I'd post it here as well.

My name is Jess and I just recently started watching the Good Wife and I love it! I don't usually like procedurals, so it took me awhile to follow my friend's suggestion and check out the show. I was hooked after the first episode (the first episode of season 2)! So, during the winter hiatus I decided to catch up on season 1 and ended up watching the whole season in five days! I love everything about the show: the law and the courtroom drama, the political aspect, and the triangle! It's probably the first time that I'm actually torn myself; I can't decide who I want Alicia to end up with. Initially, I wanted Alicia with Will but as the season progressed found myself rooting for Peter also. I mean, it's Mr. Big ... how could you not love him? I just can't decide, lol. I love both couples. so I guess I'll just enjoy the ride

I like Peter but want Alicia to be with Will. I don't think liking Peter and wanting Alicia to stay in her marriage are the same thing. I find Peter to be good at many things. I don't doubt he is the best SA Cook County could hope for right now. I am ready to believe that he was the (mostly) honest man who was ambushed when he trespassed a little bit into the dishonest territory. The people he may have annoyed by not bending the rules for them may have just been lying in waiting to catch him with his hands in the cookie jar. And aside from all that I do enjoy his arc of trying to redeem himself with the people, his kids and his wife. I think CN did a marvelous job of not letting my immediate reaction upon seeing him to be some curse or the other.
At the same time, I do think that what he did to Alicia was unforgivable. Or even if she finds it in herself to forgive him I just think it is one of those cases where once trust is broken in such a major way you always tip toe around fearing of remnants of broken glass while they may have been all swept away a long while ago. I just don't want Alicia to tip toe around love all her life. Plus, I love her chemistry with Will, which all credit to the actors, makes up a large part of the show for me.
It's nice to have you here and hope you stick around for more back and forth and also vote in the survivor games going on in both the A/P and A/W threads.

Excellent analysis! I agree with everything you've said. What Peter did was completely heinous and, if it occurred in real life, beyond redemption.. And you're right, even if Alicia eventually forgives him, and I mean truly forgives him (IMO she hasn't yet), she will never forget. He humiliated her, both personally and publicly. And had cheap, meaningless sex with a prostitute multiple times knowing it could cost him his family.

However, Peter and Alicia were married for a long time and share two children together. I don't think she can just discard her marriage that easily. Sure, things will never be the same again but eventually a new normal will emerge for them. I do think Peter is truly sorry and really does love Alicia. I agree the writers have done an excellent job with the redemption arc for Peter. Maybe it's eternal idealist in me, but I really do think people can change if they really want. Plus, I allow more leniency for fictional characters than I would for people I actually know, lol.


As for Will and Alicia, I do think that they need to be a couple for awhile, just to see where it leads. But, to do so, Alicia needs to be at least separated from Peter. Alicia certainly has feelings for Will and needs to deal with those feelings if she is ever to move forward, whether it's with Will or Peter. JM has amazing chemistry with both JC and CN that it's just fun watching her with both characters, no matter who she's with in the end.

While watching season 1, I found myself wondering if Alicia had started working at Lockhart Gardner before Peter's scandal/infidelity broke, whether she and Will would still be dealing with feelings for one another, especially given their history. I think definitely think the feelings would have still been there on Will's end, but am not sure about Alicia. What do you all think?
