... Catch-22 is a satirical, historical novel by the American author Joseph Heller, first published in 1961. The novel, set during the later stages of World War II from 1944 onwards, is frequently cited as one of the great literary works of the twentieth century.[2] It has a distinctive non-chronological style where events are described from different characters' points of view and out of sequence so that the time line develops along with the plot. The novel follows Yossarian, a U.S. Army Air Forces B-25 bombardier, and a number of other characters. Most events occur while the airmen of the fictional 256th squadron are based on the island of Pianosa, in the Mediterranean Sea west of Italy.

... 21 is a 2008 drama film from Columbia Pictures. It is directed by Australian director Robert Luketic and stars Kevin Spacey, Laurence Fishburne, Kate Bosworth, Liza Lapira, Jim Sturgess, Jacob Pitts, and Aaron Yoo. The film is inspired by the true story of the MIT Blackjack Team as told in Bringing Down the House, the best-selling book by Ben Mezrich.
The film received accusations of 'whitewashing' due to the fact that the real MIT Blackjack Team was predominantly composed of Asian Americans, while the film portrayal was a predominantly white cast. Organizations such as the Media Action Network for Asian Americans (MANAA) spoke out against the film and its producers' alleged mixed messages about casting decisions. Despite its largely negative reviews, 21 was a box office success and was the number one film during its first and second weekends of release.
