Actually, as someone who likes the Cary/Kalinda friendship and the potential of something more, I feel quite uncomfortable in this thread. Some of this discussion is clearly anti, which seems inappropriate for an appreciation thread

It's a discussion thread. Sorry if the whole "appreciation" lingo threw you off. We like to discuss their relationship as a whole, not just that one scene or the possible romantic aspect of it.

Nobody's bashing anybody. If you're not comfortable with discussion, or debate, it's ok. We just prefer to talk about it.

hen discuss the reasons you love their friendship, but no reason to turn this thread into a place to talk about how horrible they are/would be romantically

Why can't we discuss why we think they are totally wrong for each other and what we thought was wrong in that scene? You're welcome to express your opinion on these things Nobody is slamming you down.

Some of this would be better suited for a general discussion thread, no?

Sorry you feel that way. That's how we do things around here. Threads are used to discuss various aspects of the show, including the characters and relationships.

You can check out the Matt Czuchry board if you want. They have a Cary/Kalinda thread and I have a feeling you'll like it better

With the beginning of the conversation and what he was telling her, and the fact he kissed her, the scene lost some of its importance. I know it was BIG for people who have been wanting Cary and Kalinda together since they like... talked for the first time but it didn't feel right in many ways. And trust me, I wrote fic for those two so it's not that I don't want them together at all costs or that I'm a bitter shipper or an angry quasi-lesbian

My question is why is there even potential for something more? isn't friendship (real friendship, not like the friendly chats they've had on the show this season) enough? Especially for someone like Kalinda who's not the easiest person to connect with. They're going too fast and taking out the fun of it for me, not to mention painting both characters with big broad brushes doing so.

as always with anything "romantic" on the show, they are making huge leaps and jumping to the conclusion without giving us the story. I suspect in this case, the increasingly failing demo numbers might have caused them to skip forward a bit at the expense of storytelling and their characters. I don't care how much chemistry Matt and Archie generate (because they do), it's too soon, too fast, too rushed.

I guess it's more in the way he said "welcome back to normal" because: a) I don't know what that means (is it even proper English?) b) she was never "normal", or at least I don't think she was so why "back"? c) what's his idea of "normal"? It's not like he really knows a lot about her.

a) Heh beats me and I don't really think so
b) I don't think she was either or the dialog before the kiss would make no sense
c) Don't even get me started on "normal" and the mess concepts like these create in people's heads (cause I can see you started already and cause it's not the proper forum I guess) but I agree conformity is the root of more evil than difference so it's just the way they use the word here while attaching various meanings to it that makes the scene awkward for me.

it's like they achieved the exact opposite of what they were trying to do by having her give him her address.

Exactly! And that scene was so ambiguous and in so many directions, you have to ignore virtually everything but their lips touching to enjoy it!
With the time they spent "building" a friendship between them this season, I kinda feel cheated that they just make it look as if this was the point of it all... a 3 seconds kiss that could mean anything. Would it have killed them to spend a little more time on their relationship before jumping at the obvious?

I so hope this is not as much of a marketing ploy at it appears to be. Seriously, Matt and Archie deserve better and so do Cary and Kalinda.

So, remember that time when Blake was following Cary? I don't remember if he was really following him or if he was following Cary's case, but what if Blake found something and Cary gets in trouble because of that? Or decides to do something because C was so smug at his apartment. Maybe Kalinda would have to help him.

Yeah that wasn't such a smart move, was it? He did have cops backing him up that time but I wouldn't push a guy like Blake unless I have a police escort at all times so doing it just for fun?

Maybe Kalinda would have to help him.

That would be good to get some kind of quid pro quo going on. Archie and Matt have been saying C and K are helping each other but so far we've only seen Cary help Kalinda and not to be too demanding, it's starting to look a little repetitive.
Maybe she'll help him get his job back at the firm after he gets fired

Somehow relieved that the Cary mention in the bar scene (although wildly inappropriate because I like my bar scenes 'ladies-only' and hearing them talk about Cary was like finding chips in my cereals at breakfast) seemed to be reinforcing the friendship angle and making fun of the total implausibility of a love angle.

Yeah I do. It would have been nice to see the undertones more while it was happening, or a look afterwards, or something. But I believe it. Especially with the Alicia/Cary conversation at the end. Cary wanted Blake gone almost as much as Kalinda did
