Everwood Q&A THREAD #2 Ask your questions here :)

EVERWOOD Q&A THREAD #2

Welcome to the Q & A thread

I just wanted to remind you guys that this is a "Question and Answer" thread. Asking about people's opinions... perhaps should go in one of the other topic threads. This thread is basically your simple "Ask a question, get an answer" thread.
And everyone is welcome to answer the questions asked on here

F.A.Q's

Q. When will the other seasons (2, 3 and 4) be out on DVD?
A. There are no plans at the moment for the other three seasons to be coming out on DVD. The DVD sales for season 1 were lower than expected. That said, the company still knows about the fans wanting the other seasons out on DVD and has not forgotten.
Apparently, Music right issues are the only thing preventing the DVD release but we don't know more about it.

Q. Do we know the ratings for the season finale?
A. They were somewhere around the 4 million plus range.

Q. Since the other season's aren't coming out on DVD anytime soon, where else can I watch the seasons?
A. If you reside in the US, you are in luck! ABC Family has bought rights to air Everwood on it's station this fall. No word yet as to when and what time.

Q. Does anyone know where I can find clips from Everwood episodes?
A. Check on the first post on our multimedia thread and see if it's there! If not, you can always try and post a request!

Q. Hey is there a site around that would give me a list of the music used on Everwood?
A. A site that is great for that would be Everwood Music

Q. Where can I get episode transcribes?
A. Try this site

Utterly ridiculous and totally not fair, man.

Hopefully the fact that season 2 is back on amazon means something like you said Tos.
Xbel recently told me that OTH managed to have rights for music even for very famous band. So I really don't get it... is it about the classical pieces ???? or what kind of music does Everwood use that other shows don't ?
It seems like a lousy excuse if you ask me...

Thanks for starting the new thread.

And OMG that's so ridiculous about OTH!

Sorry to all OTH fans but that show quality wise is a pile of crap compared to EW and everyone knows it. This is so pathetic, wow.

I think the OTH people were smart enough to include DVD music rights in the whole package upfront.

I wouldn't go saying stuff like that on the OTH board. Well, not unless you are into getting burned in effigy and having your inbox full of hate messages. Hehe.

Of course, I agree that it is nothing like the quality of Everwood, but I wouldn't go so far as saying crap. OTH is like eating junk food: You know it isn't good for you and doesn't have any redeeming qualities, but you just don't care.

I've always thought for Everwood and music it's either of these:

1) That OTH sells enough of their DVDs so that they make up the money they have to put out for the music rights. Everwood didn't have this in season one, and probably wouldn't for upcoming DVDs.

2) That the type of music that Everwood uses is really cost prohibitive. There is a lot of older music there. A lot of covers of older songs, quite a bit of obscure and little known music.

Of course, I know jack about any of it, so it's probably not any of those optons.

A bunch of other shows, shows that I imagine would sell better than Everwood such as Dawson's Creek, have had music substitution.

Here's an article about the problems music rights are having, especially with older DVDs: Vintage TV faces the music

I just want them to come out and say, either we're going to do this and then we'll release all the DVDs, or just come out and say they're not. The whole, "we're evaluating" is vague and leaves us hanging for who knows how long.

Btw, maybe we can update a few of the FAQ questions? Like, putting the Warner quote for the first question as it goes into why they're not out and what miiiiiiiight (key word miiiiiiiighht) be done.

Here's the quote:
Quote:
<Warner_Brothers> we know we have alot of interest in Everwood based on the feedback we
continue to receive from the fans. we'd love to release future seasons but the music costs are
prohibitive. we're evaluating if we can make it work with music substitution but at this time we
just don't know.

And maybe we can put the other countries that are airing Everwood? I don't know which ones exactly, though. Canada is, and there has to be a few more, right? And a tiny update to the ABC Family part, maybe adding that the repeats are taking a break, but that an ABC Family rep said they will be back on in the fall, according to Beacon Journal | 04/19/2007 | Call him Ray; don't say he worked with Mercer

Just some suggestions.

It just burns me up that quality things are suppressed and ignored for trash, I'm sorry I can't say it any nicer, it's the truth.

I'm not talking about if OTH is entertaining, it probably still is, I'm sure. Matter of fact I'd be lying if I said I didn't sometimes flip to that channel just out of curiosity to see what insanity is taking place, I get the guilty pleasure aspect of it, for sure.

But for years and years Everwood got the shaft because it wasn't cheap ridiculous drama, instead it had quality and BECAUSE it had class and quality, it suffered terribly. It pisses me off. Greatly.

Thanks for the great post, Tos.

I agree with your post there. Traditionally, the general public has turned out for mindless garbage over thought provoking or innovative television...just look at the perennially low numbers of Arrested Development, Everwood, Buffy, Friday Night Lights, Veronica Mars, etc....and compare that with junk like American Idol (sorry if there are any fans reading this), According to Jim, Two and a Half Men...the list could go on and on.

Exactly, Alan. Soooooo incredibly true. I don't understand it, I really don't.

I was a casual Buffy fan but one of my friends was as crazy for Buffy as I am for Harry Potter, and repeatedly, Buffy got shunned for awards whenever the fabulous writing and acting was as good as it gets. I remember my friend was always so pissed off.

It's just mind boggling how people run away from quality and head towards mindless garbage as you so beautifully put it. I don't understand it. And as a result, money talks and most of these shows end up not getting recognized in awards ceremonies as well because of the lower ratings along with these shows not being on big enough networks which is sad but true.

I'm thinking no with all the "tahiti dooche" you must use . But is that really the place for this question June ? don't make me send you a warning

Note: I was forced to write "dooche" instead of the real spelling cause apparently, it is banned because it's an insult in english. I learned something today. FYI, it means "shower" in french. so ti's not an insult to me
