That's very true. I didn't like this either. Tom just makes you care so much about Harold. You want Harold being quirky and laughing. Sadness and you feel the sadness he feels right along with him.

Harold was melancholy alot...kind of felt sorry for himself. His hands weren't the right kind of hands to be a surgeon...he was too responsible to leave his dad and go off and travel like his sister....his mom abandoned him and went into the service.....etc etc...
I definitely preferred the happy version of Harold. He definitely had alot of good things going for him.

Nicely said, Betty. Agreed.

Given Harold's history, Rose was really great for him. She was a stability he never really had. I also think that's why he was so critical of Bright. I think in a way he saw Bright as himself. Not because they share similar traits... however, Bright was a screw up early on and I believe even though Harold wasn't technically a screw up when he was Bright's age, he always felt like one (like he wasn't good enough for his mother to stick around, for example) based on family/upbringing.

^^^ Haha, that looks like something Harold would wear on his head.

Thanks for the picture, Twin!

Ha! It does. You just know Harold would take proper caution and wear the right head gear.

You're welcome!

Haha, he sure would!

I've always loved this picture as it even demonstrates the different personalities between Harold and Andy, lol:

Yeah there is indeed some Treat/Tom in this picture .

You know what is cool is that I can't think of any other male TV characters interaction that can remotely resemble theirs. It was so unique and different than what we are used to see on TV. And yet it felt real and authentic. With unique stories sometimes writers/actors go over board and it seems artificial and just fictional but with them it felt real.

So true. Nothing was forced with their dynamic and you are so right about how unique and different Harold and Andy truly were. Honestly, when I think about any other type of pairing on TV or even books that could come close to this one... I can't think of one that even slightly resembles this pairing.
