Thanksgiving #2 Because it only happens once a year and it means something to Everwoodians!
Old Thread
Welcome to the Thanksgiving Thread 2010 What is Thanksgivings Day? Thanksgiving Day, also known as Turkey Day, was a holiday celebrated to express thankfulness, gratitude and appreciation to God for a bountiful harvest. But as the countries became more urban and family members began to live farther apart, Thanksgiving became a time to gather together. The holiday moved away from its religious roots to allow immigrants of every background to participate in a common tradition. Thanksgivings Day is usually marked with Football and a huge Thanksgiving Dinner. The celebration lasts over 4 days, always starting on a Thursday and ending on a Sunday. The holiday usually goes on peacefully, except of course the Black Friday, which is the day that marks the opening of the Christmas shopping. http://www.mlefc.org/Content/27/than...g%20dinner.jpg Why was Thanksgiving so important in Everwood? In Everwood Thanksgivings Day wasn’t just a regular holiday. It was a time for changes, a time for adapting oneself to new traditions. It was a time for failure and a time for learning who matters. It was a time were nothing was impossible, even a small kiss. It was a time that made us all reminisce. So, are you ready to Celebrate? This is how it works: With your help I will be creating a list of questions that I will put up here. At Thanksgivings Day everybody can start putting in their answers, and with all our answers we will have the possibility to ask more questions. In this way the party wont stop that early ;) I also suggest that everybody buy themself a little extra treat that they will enjoy while we sit here and share stories =) The Thanksgiving Question List 1. How are you going to celebrate Thanksgiving this year and with whom? 2. What is your favorite part about Thanksgiving? 3. What was your favorite Thanksgiving moment on Everwood? 4. What are you most grateful for this year? 5. What would the Everwood characters be most thankful for at the end of S4? 6. Name a favorite Thanksgiving memory. 7. If you could change something about the way you usually celebrate Thanksgiving, what would it be and why? 8. If you have a big Thanksgiving meal, is it all home-cooked or do you pick up a meal already cooked? 9. Who would you envision sitting at the Brown Thanksgiving table Season 5? 10. If you could invite any character from Everwood to your Thanksgiving dinner, who would it be and why? |
YAY, thanks for the new thread! :D
We could clean up the opening a bit. Rolfi hasn't been around this neck of the woods in ages and some of the stuff could be updated... like that last line he personalized. But of course we have one year to go there. :lmao: |

I edited the opening a bit...fixed some of the grammar, respelled the word "favorite" and got rid of the quote! We can do more next year...perhaps change or add questions. :) How's everyone doing with leftovers? |
Looks wonderful! Thanks! :)
Leftovers still exist, indeed. My mom makes a killer wild rice (my brother-in-laws parents literally look forward to it every holiday and Anna and Sara go nuts over it) and there's plenty left of that. It's delicious. I'll have some wild rice tonight! |
i had to work Thanksgiving Night so I was packed marvelous leftovers and just finished them today. So I feel as though my Thanksgiving was extended :D

When is Thanksgiving this years guys? And what are your plans for the holiday?

As per tradition...my plans plans are to host Thanksgiving for family and inlaws. They're all coming to my house! :D |
Thanks for thinking to start this up again, co-mod!
If we are in town, depending on my uncle, Thanksgiving dinner will be at my parents with my sister, brother-in-law and nieces (and Hershey, our adorable dog!) joining us as usual. Lots of food, lots of football, lots of fun. :D |
Haven't talked to any of my family yet so I'm not sure what we're doing. We always get together, I'm just not sure where.
|
Wow Betty you will be busy during Thanksgiving for sure  .
Michelle sounds like a good plan! Taryn do you have preferences where you want to gather? |
Bringing this back to Everwood a bit...
1. Do you think Ephram/Amy would spend Thanksgiving yearly at either the Browns or Abbott's or would they ever have a Thanksgiving on their own? 2. Where do you think more Thanksgiving's would take place or would it be about even? Browns or Abbott's? 3. Who do you think would make a better meal: Rose or Nina? Even though it seems plausible that a few members from both families would help make different stuff. 4. When the football games come on, which members of the Brown and Abbott clan would be viewing the games? 5. Who out of the Brown and Abbott clan would most likely hit Black Friday? |
BUMP so my questions don't get lost.

1. Do you think Ephram/Amy would spend Thanksgiving yearly at either the Browns or Abbott's or would they ever have a Thanksgiving on their own?
I have a feeling that the Abbotts will have a Thanksgiving tradition of hosting Thanksgiving dinner every year with includes the Brown family as well. That's kind of what I....my kids come to my house and it includes my son's inlaws. This helps to keep everyone together in the same house! 2. Where do you think more Thanksgiving's would take place or would it be about even? Browns or Abbott's? See answer #1. :) 3. Who do you think would make a better meal: Rose or Nina? Even though it seems plausible that a few members from both families would help make different stuff. I believe Rose would make the better turkey dinner with the trimmings, but Nina would supply superior baked goods (pies and desserts). 4. When the football games come on, which members of the Brown and Abbott clan would be viewing the games? Harold, Bright, Andy, and Amy, and Delia would be more focused on the games. Nina and Rose would be cleaning up and Ephram would be rough housing with Sam. 5. Who out of the Brown and Abbott clan would most likely hit Black Friday? I don't believe any of them are huge shoppers, but it would be cute if Amy and Delia started a tradition of shopping together for the family. |
1. Do you think Ephram/Amy would spend Thanksgiving yearly at either the Browns or Abbott's or would they ever have a Thanksgiving on their own?
I like Betty's idea of there being just one big Abbott/Brown family gathering. Since both families live in the same town and are friends that feels right. I think Ephram and Amy would have a big noontime meal with their families and an intimate dinner with just the two of them that evening. 2. Where do you think more Thanksgiving's would take place or would it be about even? Browns or Abbott's? See above. 3. Who do you think would make a better meal: Rose or Nina? Even though it seems plausible that a few members from both families would help make different stuff. I think Nina would bring appetizers and desserts, while Rose takes care of the turkey and sides. 4. When the football games come on, which members of the Brown and Abbott clan would be viewing the games? Harold, Bright, and Delia would care most about the games. Amy and Hannah would be in there watching too, but less interested. I think Andy and Ephram couldn't care less. Nina and Rose either. 5. Who out of the Brown and Abbott clan would most likely hit Black Friday? I can definitely see Amy, Hannah, and Delia all going out shopping. They would drag Bright and Ephram along, with some good-natured grumbling out of the guys. By the end of the day, Amy will have driven everybody crazy with her OCD/control freak ways. :lmao: |
