That's what is so beautiful about this guy. He will always take care of Amy and try to make her happy even if that means giving her up.

If we go with the theory (and it seems really solid, good job, Koni) that the scene between Ephram/Nina was to sort of bring Ephram down, show jealousy, feeling insecure and not good enough... all the more when he shows up at that hospital for Amy, for his father, in general, fully demonstrates the powerful connection between Ephram/Amy and Ephram's level of decency and big thumping heart.

I agree . And I think that this was also planned this way so that we could see that even though Ephram was dejected he still went to the hospital to support Amy.

So true. It really did demonstrate just that. Ephram certainly wasn't skipping to the hospital. But he still felt compelled to go.
