American Soccer was today!? Grr. Missed it. I've never seen our team in action and was wanting to see what was up. Guess that settles that. I did catch some of the Argentina Vs. Austrailia game and that seemed interesting enough(I've actually never seen a full soccer game before). I watched the Mens Volleyball yesterday(missed the female portion, damnit. ), and Swimming.

Who knew sports could be entertaining!?

The soccer match aired at 7:30am ET this morning.
It's not really the whole U.S. National team. In the Olympics, all the players must be 23 years of age or younger. Each team is allowed to add up to 4 senior players who are older.
This morning's match was pretty good. We were not expected to beat the Netherlands, but we almost did! They scored the tying goal in 92nd minute (regulation time is 90 minutes) but these were the extra few minutes that they add on to a match to make up for all of the game stoppage time.
I hope that long winded explanation does not swear you off of sports for good!
Although, the next time the females play volleyball....make sure to watch. You'll be a sports fan for life!

Yeah, I was sleeping then. I have a tendency...to sleep really late. Whoops. Lol. Yeah, I figured that they wouldn't let the entire team play; I've heard about picking and choosing members before. Games are only an hour and a half? That seems...short for some reason.

I'm actually pretty into Soccer as it is. Well..I used to, back in Elementary School. It'd basically be two classrooms(which is like 15 kids each) battling each other. We'd divide the field; one goes one way, the other goes...the other way and just go at it. It was a lot of fun...until they tried telling us to play the proper way. Then we just quit. LOL. You built up quite a sweat too.

I guess if the matches were any longer, the players would collapse from exhaustion. Unlike other sports, in soccer, there are no timeouts. The players play each 45 minute half without even a water break. So, I guess 90 minutes is enough!

No time-outs? Well, alrighty then! You learn something new everyday! Lol. And they say Soccer is a sissy sport. Pssh. Yeah, Brett Farve, lets see you go 90 minutes a game without resting!

No, it's definitely not a sissy sport! No padding like American football players and they never get to huddle or get slapped on the butt!

And (my humble opinion) Soccer players have great legs.....a lot nicer than American football players.

And your first, second, third, fourth, etc women's beach volleyball match!

This is a first: shadow in a sports thread! Talking about sports!

I haven't seen much of the Olympics today. A bit of swimming, but I can't remember anything about it. That's my wonderful contribution.

Yes, that was amazing!! Maybe the French team should not have predicted that they were going to smash us......probably back-fired and stirred up the U.S. team even more.
LOL yeah should have thought about that one

Wooo this is like a dream sports all day for 2 weeks yay!!!

Wow. That 4x100 relay was possibly the greatest swimming event that I have ever seen. I can't believe that Lezak made up that deficit in such a short amount of distance. The fact that the French had been talking trash made it all the more sweet too.

Their euphoric reaction to the victory was great to see. There was no 'been there done that' attitude to them, even Michael Phelps who has 8 golds in his career. Seeing that kind of competitive spirit and joy is part of what make watching the Olympics so great.

Yes, it was fantastic! They said that Lezak was able to ride his competitor's wave for a while! Whatever it takes!

I am presently watching the Men's gymnastics and am wondering if anyone else who is watching is noticing any inequity in the scoring?
