For the most part....the Phillies fans had hope until the end of the game and the Yankees fans had fear until the end of game. With those two teams....anything could have happened at any time! The fans were excited...but surprisingly very polite....no gloating. ![]() __________________ I should give Leo a as well.Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit, Wisdom is knowing not to put it into a fruit salad.

| The Lambert situation is completely nuts. I had to watch it three times due to the shock. Incredible. Quote:

Betty, I can only imagine how much fun it was to watch the Yanks win it all at the casino in AC. Sure, makes sense a ton of Philly fans would be circulating the casino mixed in with Yankee fans. So much fun. I have a blast, myself, watching sports games at casinos. In fact, I watched the Pittsburgh Penguins win game 7 to take the Stanley Cup at Mystic Lake, I will never forget it. Lol. That was so much fun! I would have thought seeing as Minnesota is a midwestern state they might have naturally pulled for Detroit since Michigan is a midwestern state but it seemed like there were more fans pulling for Pittsburgh and that made it all the more fun, watching the game surrounded by true hockey fans in the state. My guess is most in Minnesota wanted the Penguins because of the rivalry they have with Detroit in football and baseball (being in the same division for both sports) and that's why they pulled more for the Penguins. I remember standing there with my Penguins hat and t shirt while playing a slot machine cheering away while watching the game on one of the big screens and this guy next to me started talking to me about hockey and I told him how I have ties in Pittsburgh, etc. So we started watching it together, along with talking in depth about hockey. That's why I love this state. Minnesotans yearn for hockey talk anytime, any place. ![]() __________________ Frenchie Last edited by Wilpen : 11-07-2009 at 10:56 AM.

| Hee. Yes, hockey minds would dig this state I think. ![]() Tonight I am in heaven watching Dallas at Minnesota in hockey. No matter how horrible the Wild will be this season this match up always means something to Minnesotans. It's going to be louder than usual. Minnesota Gophers are at Wisconsin Badgers in hockey this evening as well. Hugggge rivalry. I will be jumping back and forth with my remote watching both games, heh. __________________ Frenchie | |||

| I am, too! Wild up 1-0 with 2 mn left in the first and Gophers up 2-0 at the end of the first. Great starts for both college and pro Minnesota hockey teams! ![]() | |||

| Yeah, great results for both teams. The Wild win 3-2 and the Gophers took down Wisconsin in a VERY important game, 5-2. The next two days in pro hockey the games are in drought-mode. It sucks. NFL football today will distract me from the lack of hockey but I cannot believe there's only one game on tomorrow night as well. Ridiculous. Whoever planned the NHL schedule should be fired! Lol. I think the Olympics is messing things up, but then, why would they have so many days off BEFORE the Olympics? Very confusing. Canucks don't play again until Tuesday, which makes sense because they've played more games than most of the teams around them in the West. __________________ “[People] talk to me about these characters as if they’re real, and they’re not real, but they’ve become real...I really think, shows like this one, you have an attachment to them. | It makes very little sense. You would think they would stack more games before the Olympics. I just don't get it. I also don't understand if they are looking to increase ratings why they are having a light day on Sundays unless they just accept that the NFL rules on Sunday's possibly. But it's so weird how there's only ONE GAME on a Monday night to start off the week. __________________ Frenchie | |||

I know that Saturday is hockey day and all and that's fine, but the NHL shouldn't just cede the day to football. Monday is the Hockey Hall of Fame inductions. Steve Yzerman, Brett Hull, Brian Leetch and Luc Robitaille are the players and what a class. Steve Yzerman, I have to say, is my favourite player of all time. He's basically the reason why I was a Detroit Red Wings fan before I was a Canucks fan. Class, great talent, one of the greatest captains of modern times if not the sport in general and just a super nice guy. I'm really happy to see him get in, although of course it was a gimme that he'd be in based on all that he did and how great the Wings were with him as captain. Of course, I did pronounce his name "Why-zerman" for way too long before finding out that it's not that at all. ![]() __________________ “[People] talk to me about these characters as if they’re real, and they’re not real, but they’ve become real...I really think, shows like this one, you have an attachment to them. Awe! <3 He is FABULOUS and for all the reasons that you listed. ![]() How do you feel about how they pick the players? Do you agree mostly or disagree sometimes? Have you ever been to the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto? I haven't. I would love to go sometime. ![]() Sidenote: Man, I haven't been on the board for a couple of hours since I am busy writing a mammoth PM at the moment on word since it corrects my mistakes, heh, hoping to get it into someone's box before they go to sleep tonight! __________________ Frenchie

| Hee, yes it's completed and sent. ![]() The Packers demise was fun to watch, I have to say. Rogers sucked it up although the Packers offensive line is horrible! Completely in shambles and that cannot be overstated. However, Rogers is not releasing the ball in a timely manner so there are a lot of situations where he gets sacked not due to the offensive line necessarily, but due to his inability to release the ball! Tampa gets their first win of the season and against Green Bay. Lol. That was a huge 4th quarter collapse although statistically Green Bay does not win in Tampa! Granted, it used to be about a divisional thing but Tampa is not in our division anymore so that is washed up, that excuse. I guess the mentality might be there. I think this was a huge loss for the Pack because before today they were 4-3 and they could have gone to 5-3 had they won. They didn't so they're sitting at 4-4. 5-3 compared to 4-4 is huge, especially since the Vikes are 7-1 with tiebreakers since the Vikes beat them twice and they went from 2 games behind to 3. That's enormous, especially if you look at who the Vikes play in the near future. Detroit at home next week? Hello, win, heh. Not that I really thought the Pack could fight for the division with the Vikes but still, their wild card chances are slowly disappearing. Also, I find it interesting how Rogers collapsed in the 2 minute offense and that is Favre's specialty. The Packer fans are well aware of this and I think most people thought about this today in that if #4 was their QB today he would have gotten the job done, something Rogers wasn't able to do. It has to be tough being a Packer fan right now. I do feel badly. Well, sort of, heh. __________________ Frenchie | |||

| Great thoughts, Michelle. So true about the 2 minute drill that Rogers failed miserably with and Favre is so great at. Packer fans made note of that, I surely did. LOL!I was on the phone with one of my friends from Wisconsin and she said it couldn't be worse given that Favre is in purple beating the Packers twice this season AND Rogers' weaknesses are Brett's strengths. LOL. She was sickened whenever the Packers tossed Favre aside in favor of Rogers. She is also not mad that Favre wanted Minnesota, she gets why and she doesn't blame him, she blames management. She does say it hurts like hell seeing him in purple though. ![]() Are you watching the Eagles/Cowboys game? What a game! | |||

| Hee, that's too bad your friend is so upset. You know what? I might be going through the same thing whenever James might go elsewhere and leaves my Cleveland Cavs in the dust come next summer. I did not like his recent interview making it seem like he is completely unsure of what he is going to do. I like this guy on the floor, he's clearly the best player in the game, and he is so intelligent, but I am not happy about how he is mouthing away about his future in basketball because IMO he is currently "employed" by the Cleveland Cavs. He should not be talking about his future plans. In the real world aka other than basketball are people able to talk out loud about where they might get their next job as their current boss overhears as much? No, and I don't care that it is professional basketball, I don't think it's fair to the Cavs organization or the fans for him to be discussing this EVEN IF the media is asking him questions. The media are a bunch of vultures, we all know this, but James controls what he responds to. /Rant And yes, I am watching the Eagles/Cowboys game. It's good stuff! It's typical these two teams are slugging it out until the last second ticks on the time. __________________ Frenchie | |||
