Songs About "Everwood"

Well, not literally, of course. But do you guys ever hear songs and relate them back to characters in Everwood? I do! So I thought it would be fun for us to share songs that we think relate to the show, individual characters, pairings, et cetera.

Today I heard the song "Amy's Song" by Brent Anderson, and I thought it would be a perfect send-off for this thread. Definitely reminds me of Ephramy. Bolded parts are the most like them, in my opinion.

The lyrics:

She was standin’ by the bar at the club we were playin’
About an hour before the show
I couldn’t stop starin’ so finally I decided to say hello
She never seen the band but she was a fan,
She’d heard a couple of songs online
We sat there talking ’til the club filled up and it was show time
I said I didn’t catch your name and she said Amy
I said will I see you after the show and she said maybe

And all night, I tried
To look out at that crowd and find her
But those lights were so damn bright up there
So I said, "You got time for one more song?
You all know it so sing along
Gonna sing it out to a girl
I hope she’s still here"

And I sang "Amy
What you wanna do
I think that I could stay with you
For a while, maybe longer if I do"

With a girl like her, the best you can hope
To do is date her off and on
You think it’s going great, you turn around one day
And she’ll be gone.
She’s beautiful and sweet and complicated
She’ll break my heart
And then she’ll show up where I’m playing

So all night, I tried
To look out at that crowd and find her
But those lights were so damn bright up there
So I said, "You got time for one more song?
You all know it so sing along
Gonna sing it out to a girl
I hope she’s still here"

And I sang Amy
What you wanna do
I think that I could stay with you
For a while, maybe longer if I do.

I keep falling in and out of love with you
Falling in and out of love with you
I don’t know what I’m gonna do
Cause I keep falling in and out of love with you

What a neat thread idea, Lemony! Thanks for starting it!

Yeah, I can see the Ephramy there in that one. How they keep coming back to each other no matter what, no matter what goes on between them, they always show up in each others' lives since that first time they met. Hee, perfect that it actually is "Amy's Song" too.

I'll have to think of something to contribute. I'm sure there's lots. Can't wait to see what people think of.

Wonderful idea, Lemony. I'm going to have to think of some songs as well. Of course...my songs would be vintage songs.

Thanks, guys!! I'm so glad you both like this thread idea. And I can't wait to hear what vintage songs you come up with, Betty, because I love 50's/60's oldies!

Here's one I heard today that is perfect for Harold and Rose. Can't even bold any of it because the entire thing fits them perfectly.

"I'm Gonna Love You Through It" by Martina McBride

She dropped the phone and burst into tears
The doctor just confirmed her fears
Her husband held it in and held her tight
Cancer don’t discriminate or care if you’re just 38
With three kids who need you in their lives
He said, "I know that you’re afraid and I am, too
But you’ll never be alone, I promise you"

When you’re weak, I’ll be strong
When you let go, I’ll hold on
When you need to cry, I swear that I’ll be there to dry your eyes
When you feel lost and scared to death,
Like you can’t take one more step
Just take my hand, together we can do it
I’m gonna love you through it.

She made it through the surgery fine
They said they caught it just in time
But they had to take more than they planned
Now it's forced smiles and baggy shirts
To hide what the cancer took from her
But she just wants to feel like a woman again
She said, "I don't think I can do this anymore"
He took her in his arms and said "That's what my love is for"

When you’re weak, I’ll be strong
When you let go, I’ll hold on
When you need to cry, I swear that I’ll be there to dry your eyes
When you feel lost and scared to death,
Like you can’t take one more step
Just take my hand, together we can do it
I’m gonna love you through it.

And when this road gets too long
I'll be the rock you lean on
Just take my hand, together we can do it
I’m gonna love you through it.
I’m gonna love you through it.

This is a song that I just love and has the perfect lyric for a couple who are very much in love and just live to be with each other and couldn't imagine being with anyone else......namely...Amy and Ephram.

Gloria Estefan's "Live For Loving You".

Looks like this great thread got lost in the shuffle with all the different threads being bumped up. Well, it's back now!

Aw, Lemony, that was a perfect one from Harold/Rose. After S2 kind of harmed their relationship, it's interesting that the awfulness of cancer probably helped bring it back up. One year of pain and one awful disease made them stronger as a couple.

Betty, I totally agree that song speaks to Amy and Ephram. I think especially when they were happy and in peace in S3, especially with them waking up next to each other with "The Reflex".

I still haven't thought of anything!! This is a tough thread, but I truly like all of the contributions so far and want to see more! Hopefully I'll have something of my own one of these days.

Gotta bump this thread back up! This is one of my favorite songs, and it totally reminds me of Amy and Ephram and their parallels to the Harold/Rose relationship. I'm going to change the names in the song to Amy/Ephram so it flows better though!

"She's in Love with the Boy" by Trisha Yearwood

Amy's sitting on the old front porch
Watching the chickens peck the ground
There ain't a whole lot going on tonight
In this one horse town
Over yonder, coming up the road
In a beat-up Chevy truck
Her boyfriend Ephram, he's laying on the horn
Splashing through the mud and the muck

Her daddy says, "He ain't worth a lick
When it came to brains, he got the short end of the stick"
But Amy's young and man, she just don't care
She'd follow Ephram anywhere

She's in love with the boy
She's in love with the boy
She's in love with the boy
And even if they have to run away
She's gonna marry that boy someday

Amy and Ephram at the drive-in movie
Parked in the very last row
They're too busy holding on to one another
To even care about the show
Later on outside the Tastee Freeze,
Ephram slips something on her hand
He says, "My high school ring will have to do
Till I can buy a wedding band"

Her daddy says, "He ain't worth a lick
When it came to brains, he got the short end of the stick"
But Amy's young and man, she just don't care
She'd follow Ephram anywhere
She's in love with the boy
She's in love with the boy
She's in love with the boy
And even if they have to run away
She's gonna marry that boy someday

Her daddy's waiting up till half past twelve
When they come sneaking up the walk
He says, "Young lady, get on up to your room
While me and Ephram have a talk"

But Mama breaks in and says, "Don't lose your temper
It wasn't very long ago
When you yourself was just a hay-seed plow boy
Who didn't have a row to hoe"

"My daddy said you wasn't worth a lick
When it came to brains, you got the short end of the stick
But he was wrong and honey, you are too
Amy looks at Ephram like I still look at you"

She's in love with the boy
She's in love with the boy
She's in love with the boy
What's meant to be will always find a way
What's meant to be will always find a way
She's gonna marry that boy someday

"Better Than I Used to Be"
By Tim McGraw

I know how to hold a grudge
I can send a bridge up in smoke
And I can't count the people I've let down, the hearts I've broke
You ain't gotta dig too deep
If you wanna find some dirt on me
I'm learning who you've been
Ain't who you've got to be
It's gonna be an uphill climb
Aww honey I won't lie

I ain't no angel
I still got a few more dances with the devil
I’m cleaning up my act little by little
I’m getting there
I can finally stand the man in the mirror I see
I ain’t as good as I’m gonna get
But I’m better than I used to be

I’ve pinned a lot of demons to the ground
I’ve got a few old habits left
But there’s still one or two I might need you to help me get
Standing in the rain so long has left me with a little rust
But put some faith in me
And someday you’ll see
There’s a diamond under all this dust

I ain't no angel
I still got a few more dances with the devil
I’m cleaning up my act little by little
I’m getting there
I can finally stand the man in the mirror I see
I ain’t as good as I’m gonna get
But I’m better than I used to be

I ain't no angel
I still got a few more dances with the devil
But I’m cleaning up my act little by little
I’m getting there
I can finally stand the man in the mirror I see
I ain’t as good as I’m gonna get
But I’m better than I used to be
