Yes, Harold was always about Amy because they were so alike and he emotionally neglected Bright all of his life and he made him feel that he could never measure up. I’m glad Bright got through to Harold and that Harold changed his attitude toward him.

That's very true. He definitely had a soft spot for Amy overall.

I think the accident certainly didn't help matters either because Bright was so closed off, bully-like with Ephram, wanting to essentially screw up his life because he felt so out of control and soaked with guilt over Colin. Harold had a history of not handling mental health properly concerning his children. He basically abandoned Amy when she had situational depression seeing her as being able to control it over addressing the situation directly and getting her proper help. The Colin situation was also something Harold never really touched with Bright either.

Harold was a great father in many ways but his faults were quite prominent, too.
