Chapter 4:
I repeat: Patricia, you are a very talented writer! I love love love the Amy's interaction with Julia. You really made all the dialogue so believable and intune with the characters' history. So beautiful! Thank God Amy came to her senses! What caused her to have doubts? I so wish we could have all witnessed this wedding and also seen their future baby. Wonder what it's going to be?!? |

Wow, Patricia, your writing's so good, you took me right to Everwood with the characters. You had me on the edge of my seat waiting to see if Ephram/Amy would finally see each other in chapter 1 in the present. You are so talented! I love how Bright/Hannah have twins and are set up nice and happy. Hannah not being the one to want more kids is a nice twist and Bright being ready for more if Hannah wants more is outstanding. Nice! I love Bright all grown up and mature. You have the Ephram/Amy dynamic absolutely nailed! I understood why Amy couldn't go with him to NYC when they were younger. I can understand why they are still in love all these years later. I can't wait until they see each other for the first time! I love the dynamic Nina/Delia have together and of course, Julia was brought up. Andy's entrance was perfect and, Julia entered too. Julia's Spirit central is such a big time hit for me! I am as Spiritual as they come (I see/hear/talk to Dead People, haha like literally lol) with mediumship/psychic abilities so I appreciate this aspect so very much. I love how we don't know who Delia is marrying... I can't wait to find out something about this dude! Such a great first chapter. You are so talented. We are lucky having you on this board, writer, poster, all around awesome person. |

- I love how you set up Delia as the one getting married. It's just such a clever idea. - Like I said, the Spiritual element with Julia still being around is brilliant. - “Clubs and random drunk people aren’t friends. It’s just an illusion.” < You have Ephram nailed just based on that comment alone, lol. - Andy being able to read Ephram, knowing something is wrong is so great. I love how you have them in a good place. - What a great father/son talk/interaction. - Awe Ephram's mind is on Amy. - “You’re thinking of me, that’s how I come to you.” < That is such a Spiritual comment/fact. I love how you have included this! - Ephram/Amy first meeting! Perfect making Amy editor. It reminds me of when she was on the computer over the series run researching, etc. A writer fits her perfectly! - Appreciate Ephram/Amy bantering a bit and can instantly naturally get right back to their connection and just go with it. - I adore Ephram's persistence, their fighting is so real and I can't even take one or the other since they both make valid points! - I love their romantic moments! - Nina being the center, helping out Delia and Amy is just awesome. You have Nina constructed like I always thought she would be once she and Andy married. Nina's joke about marrying a gay man is brilliant. Excellent second chapter! |

I needed something to bring the entire town back together. I mean most shows do a character death or some tragedy that happens. I didn't want to be cliche, first off. And I didn't want to kill anyone. Sure, removing characters makes things easier because it's more organized but good writing is hardly organized. It was a way to incorporate Delia in the story and show how grown up she is Quote:
I always wanted Julia to be there like she was when she spoke to Andy. You could tell, she held the family together, no matter how much Ephram wanted to deny in the beginning. She was the glue, she, in a way, always will be. I just feel there is a sense of calm whenever Julia is around. Andy becomes more vulnerable, he becomes more of a co-parent than the one who has to take care of everything. He gets to rely on someone. I don't think Andy has ever really let himself rely on anyone. I'm sure, in story purposes, he relied on Nina once they got married because Delia was still in school and Ephram still needed a mother's guidance. Writing Julia just gave me a sense that no matter what the scene was, everything would be okay. She bought everyone back to what really mattered nad no matter what happened whether it was Ephram doubting his feelings for Amy or Delia feeling sad because she is needing Nina more than her real mom. It's those moments you realize why Julia sent them there. Julia pulled into that train station and felt something, Everwood makes you feel something. She knew, maybe in some way, that she wouldn't be with Andy and the children forever. She knew they needed to go to a place to really be together. Julia, even in death, was taking care of her family. Quote:
I just needed SOMETHING that would paint the picture that Ephram's life in New York was CRAP with all capitals. I wanted to take it, looking back on a retrospective, of flipping the show's Ephram of how felt about Everwood when first moving there. Ephram wanted to stay in New York, he had all of his friends, he had his family, he had EVERYTHING that made him the person he was at that time. Then he came to Everwood and it was like a fish out of water. That's how I wanted to paint Ephram going back to New York. I wanted him to think it would be like going back home and thinking it would be just the same. There is a quote from Sweet Home Alambama, the movie. I don't know the exact quote. It's looking at the same thing two different times and seeing two different things. That's how I looked at Ephram. His world is COMPLETELY changed from when he moved to Everwood. He has a relationship with his father, he didn't need to be hanging out with random people all the time and trying to make fun happen when it wasn't happening at home. He didn't have fighting parents anymore, he didn't have a crappy life. He just....I don't know what Ephram wanted when he went back to New York, I cannot answer that. Maybe if i reread what I wrote, I could tell you something different, but right now, I can't. I left that up to the character, honestly. Quote:
These two characters are like matching paintings on a canvas. Two different color pallets used, two different painters...having the same presentation. It was never going to matter what differences they had or how much they faught, they were always going to come out the same. Maybe some a little more defined than others, but they would definitely find their way. Everwood made that union happen. Edna said it best. Two people who fight the most are usually the most alike, or something like that. Ehpram plays piano beautifully, Andy is the most gifted surgeon in the WORLD...what does that involve? HANDS. It doesn't matter how the painting gets started...it's where the colors go and how the picture turns out is what matters. Trust the journey and the destination shouldn't surprise you as long as you're true to yourself Quote:
When is it not lol Quote:

I love for them to fight! lol I know it's bad when couples have really bad fights. But they are so PASSIONATE in their fights that anything goes. They just have this amazing relationship that is just off the rails passionate and it's so fun to just let it go and see what surpasses their emotions. Ah, I just enjoy writing them because you can throw anything to the canvas and it sticks, you just have to guide it a little. Quote:
How can you not throw a joke in about Carl? I mean, Nina married a gay man who thought was on business trips turns out...he had business in other areas. lol It was such a pivotal time in Nina's life. She was heartbroken, embarrassed, ashamed and having to deal with it in front of an entire town that was, we can all say, overly critical of Nina's choices anyway. Quote:
Thanks! I really poured a lot into the third chapter. It has a favorite line from Andy that I've ever written in my entire life. Maybe you'll find it. Hint: It's in a really important conversation between Andy and Ephram when they talk a walk __________________

Although poignant, I don't think that's the part I was referring to. I'm at work and I don't have access to my computer....it's in there somewhat, might not be a walk. I wrote this like months ago. Maybe I just remember it differently!? I don't know, I'll have to check tonight
