I think so too.

Adults were all good overall, minus the dude who played Dumbledore season 3 and on. He just didn't have Dumbledore at all mastered.

I thought Gambon nailed Dumbledore in the Half Blood Pince and DH Part 2

He was okay. I just can't get over how badly he wrecked him in PoA and GoF. Awful. Richard Harris was my perfect Dumbledore. He would have been so good in those later books/films when Dumbledore dies and Harry's in limbo.

I thought he was fine in PoA, agree with the GoF though. I don't think Harris was the perfect Dumbledore though, since he was too far the other way for me lol. I wouldn't have believed that Voldemort was afraid of Harris' Dumbledore

Interesting take.

The thing is, we weren’t able to really see what Harris could do in those powerful scenes in the last three books. He had Dumbledore’s calmness down perfectly.

The other dude was just way too hyper and eccentric. Dumbledore was eccentric but in a very calm and cool way. This guy acted like he was on drugs. It is just so off.

Also, in PoA, He was just goofy with the time travel stuff. He just acted so “out there” when HHr were about to use the Time Turner. It was so weird.

True, but he was just way too calm for me and I'm just not convinced Harris would have sold those powerful scenes. Mixing the best qualities of both actors versions of the character would have led to the perfect Dumbledore imo
