I mean, of course Hermione is the lead female character of the series. But she is still not the main character. Her status is the same as Ron. They are both supporting lead characters. With that said, it should have translated to both Hermione and Ron getting proper portrayal on the large screen. That didn’t happen. Ron was reduced in embarrassing fashion while Hermione was the next Wonder Woman Superhero.

Agreed, both characters and the movies as a whole suffered because of it

Excellent point. Even Hermione's character suffered because we weren't able to see the real Hermione on the big screen. For those only movie and not book fans, they didn't know better since they only had the film version to go with. But for those of us who are true book fans, we were appalled or most were unless some just enjoyed the different version. But why would anyone want to see a different version? That's where my confusion comes from.

Nope, it really doesn't.
I think the Ron hatred bothers me the most though. Are we missing something? We do people hate Ron so much in the books? I can't stand it. Dude had a close family but he was poor and really hated how poor he was. He was such a loyal friend, protective brother. I don't get the hate! |
