Sad news about John Mahoney. His words about the United States and how much he loved living here is touching. He was so talented on the screen. I never watched Frasier from start to finish faithfully but caught episodes here and there. From what I've seen, I believe he personally made the show. His character was the centerpiece of the series.

Thanks for the new thread

When did he write that?

John Mahoney Dead: Frasier Actor Dies at 77 | PEOPLE.com
Quote:

The British native attended St. Joseph’s College in Blackpool but was determined to immigrate to the United States. At 19, he moved to the America with the help of his older sister, Vera, a war bride living in Illinois.

As Mahoney acclimated himself with life Stateside, he began studying at Quincy University in Illinois. Shortly after, he spent three years in the United States Army and received his citizenship in 1959.

“It was so bleak and dark in England — those gray and foggy postwar years,” he previously told the Chicago Tribune. “[The United States], it was so sunny. The people smiled.”

Yeah. :)

I’m a sucker for this type of story... people wanting to come to the US for a better life... sometimes even having to fight to get here... and they make it past the finish line. I especially like hearing people say Americans are so nice and welcoming. :)

This is sad. I loved Frasier and John Mahoney was really great in it. May he rest in peace. :(

I'd definitely watch this.

'Conan the Barbarian' series in the works at Amazon | EW.com

I thought you watched Frasier, Betty. Did you watch Cheers?

I wonder how a series works on Amazon? Interesting.

Sorry!

It seems like when Cheers was on air ( September 30, 1982, to May 20, 1993 ) for most Americans, that was THE show they watched.

I was wondering if there was another show during that time period you enjoyed instead?

I don't remember! Probably Seinfeld.

Right! That was another big one later on during the Cheers run.

Amazingly I never watched Seinfeld. I am weird, lol. I started watching that style of show when Friends entered the screen. Did you watch Friends?

Really enjoy this poster's thoughts on comics. She knows everything, lol. She's like a walking encyclopedia and it's nice:

Some background information on Kara's love life and why Brainy is her main relationship and always has been:

Spoiler:
Kara and Brainy are the DC Universe's star-crossed (erm... well... time-crossed) lovers.

In regards to the picture you posted, Kara's kissed a lot of guys in the comics. Mon-el just happened to be one of them. Brainy has been her only consistent relationship (or implied relationship, what with time-travel memory wipes and all) throughout several different continuities.

So far, only Lois and Clark have had the honour of living happily ever after in the DC comics universe (married with a kid)... but even though Kara/Brainy always ended up parting ways, they also somehow managed to find each other again too, so I was hoping to see that connection on the TV show.
