Buffy

I'm so irate, I watched "End of Days" just fine, but now my bloody disc won't play "Chosen." It's like it doesn't want the show to end for me. I'll write more about EoD when I calm down.

Sucks about Buffy. Hopefully you get to see it soon.

The Middleman

Not quite as jam-packed with story as the pilot, but still a fun episode. I still like the interplay between Wendy and the Middleman, but I could do without Wendy's roommate. Of course, it looks like she's in it for the long haul, so I guess I better get used to her.

As for the story, it was definitely different. I can't say that I've seen an episode of any other show that revolved around a Terra Cotta Warrior coming to life and trying to bring 1000 years of fire to the earth.

My favorite line of the night would have to be: "I'm as serious as a Hefty bag full of rottweilers."

Lost

I'm down to the three-part season finale of season 4, and then I will be totally caught up.

I have to get the DVDs from my friend so that I can start!
At least I have the summer off!

Decent episode, but I didn't like that they turned Jude's new friend Megan into a crazy stalker type. The Japanese commercial was predictably hilarious, and you could see the glimmers of a new Tommy/Jude beginning.

LOL. True, true. I am a spoiler whore so this is going to be quite difficult. I need to dig deep and muster up some will power.

LOLLLLL. Exactly. Have you seen much of this past season? Hilarie had frustrating storylines since Peyton didn't do much outside of moping around because of idiot Lucas but man, Hilarie has never shined more. She looks so beautiful (always does but she was glowing this season, breathtakingly gorgeous) not to mention her acting being phenomenal. By far she's the best actress on this show. Love her.

You better! This show is so good when viewed unspoiled.

I know, I don't know what happened. (Okay, I do. I tried watching the first ep, but got halfway through before I had a headache and had to turn it off. I picked it up again when I knew I was getting season 2 for my birthday.

Aw, feel better. *is anxiously awaiting Friday evening*

And, well, I've managed to see the finale despite the woes of before. I really enjoyed it. I don't have enough time in the day to flail about it since I have a draft of a paper due in about four hours and then class for three hours after that. Hopefully soon.

Not too much. I saw the premiere because I was home, but not too much other than that because I had class that night. I've been reading your thoughts though so I know what's going on and I've seen the caps

Joss' web series. A trailer has surfaced. LOLZ to "The following preview has been approved for all audiences by the Motion Picture Association of My House, Inc." And then when you go to Motion Picture Association of My House, it links to the teaser. Awesome.

That had to be the second worst series finale I've ever seen (Jack and Jill is still the worst)...and they don't even have the excuse that they didn't know they were being cancelled. This has been billed as 'The Final Season' all along, and I get almost no resolution of anything. They started all these storylines like there was going to be a next season, but there won't. I hate Schuyler.

My Boys

Another funny episode. I had issues with how good Mike's shirt turned out considering none of the men were supposed to have had previous sewing experience, but I let it slide. If you're not watching this show, then you should be.

Buffy

C&P'ed from lj basically.

Mah thoughts on 7x21 End of Days:

Spoiler:
I am so so glad I didn't know Angel was appearing in "End of Days" -- I thought it was just going to be the finale, "Chosen." Yay for me covering the menu and credits post-opening credits. I also realise that I had seen their kiss in an icon [my friend Natalie] has up, but I didn't realise it until I got there. Which is good. Good job, Natalie, on not really using it recently. Or if you had, I probably thought I had already seen it.

I loved this BX scene:
Quote:
Buffy and Xander speak privately in the kitchen.

BUFFY: You got it?
XANDER: Wait. I’m not to the “got it” place yet. I’m still in the neighborhood of “you gotta be kidding”.
BUFFY: You know it’s for the good.
XANDER: I don’t. Buffy, do you get that? If I do this, that’s it for me for this fight. I feel like you’re putting me out to pasture.
BUFFY: Of course I’m not putting you out to pasture. What does that even mean?
XANDER: Well, you know, it’s like… when a cow gets old and loses an eye or its ability to be milked. The farmer takes it and puts it in a different pasture so it won’t have to… fight… with the priests. Look, I don’t need you to protect me.
BUFFY: I’m not.
XANDER: I got hurt but I’m not done. I can still fight.
BUFFY: I know. That’s why I need you to do this. Xander, I need someone that I can count on no matter what happens.
XANDER: I just always thought that I would… that I would be there with you, you know, for the end.

BUFFY: Hey!
XANDER: (covers) Not that this is the end!
BUFFY: Thanks a lot.
XANDER: No, no, no… by “the end” I meant in a heroic, uplifting way. See I’m still optimistic. You’re just thrown off a little by this gritty-looking eye patch.
BUFFY: (smiles) I know what you meant.
XANDER: I should be at your side. That’s all I’m saying.
BUFFY: You will be. You’re my strength, Xander. You’re the reason I’ve made it this far. I trust you with my life. That’s why I need you to do this for me.

XANDER: (nods) Okay.
BUFFY: Also, you can’t shoot a bow and arrow anymore and every time you pick up a sword, I worry that you’re going to break one of our good lamps.
XANDER: Hey!
BUFFY: (smiles) Don’t look at me. You’re the one who said I’m gonna die.
XANDER: I never said that you were going to die. I implied that you were going to die. It’s totally different.
BUFFY: Yeah, okay. Sure.
XANDER: Besides, if you die, I’ll just bring you back to life. That’s what I do.
Bold are my favourite bits. Bold italics are extra extra special. ♥ BX.

Heh, "m question mark" "That's not a question mark."

Hee though to "And you know what’s even worse? All the stupid 'it’s all fun and games until someone loses an eye' jokes. 'Hey, Xander, so no more fun and games, huh?'" And omg when Xander knocked Dawn unconscious via chloroform (to which I totally thought of my friend Jenna who loves a good chloroforming), I was like "What the ****, Xander?" And when Dawn overtook the car, teehee.

I still ****ing hate Caleb. Misogyny is not cool. And when Caleb's eyes went black, freaky ****.

Hehe to Faith's "Thank god we’re hot chicks with superpowers." Think I heard that before.

Quote:
BUFFY: Do you see this? This may actually help me fight my war. This might be the key to everything. And the reason I’m holding it is because of you. Because of the strength that you gave me last night. I am tired of defensiveness and weird mixed signals. You know what? I have Faith for that. Let’s just get to the truth here, okay? I don’t know how you felt about last night but I will not—
BG Note: That bold bit was slashy, yep.
Quote:
SPIKE: Terrified.
BUFFY: Of what?
SPIKE: Last night was… (beat) God, I’m such a jerk. I can’t do this.
BUFFY: Spike…
SPIKE: It was the best night of my life. If you poke fun at me, you bloody well better use that ’cause I couldn’t bear it. It may not mean that much to you but—
BUFFY: I just told you it did.
SPIKE: Yeah, I hear you say it but… I’ve lived for soddin’ ever, Buffy. I’ve done everything. I’ve done things with you I can’t spell… but I’ve never been close… to anyone. Least of all you. Until last night. All I did was hold you, watch you sleep… and it was the best night of my life. So yeah, I’m terrified.
BG Note: SO MUCH LOVE OMG. Especially the bold.

Quote:
BUFFY: You don’t have to be.
SPIKE: Were you there with me?
BUFFY: I was.
SPIKE: What does that mean?
BUFFY: I don’t know. Does it have to mean something?
SPIKE: No, not right now.
BUFFY: Maybe when…
SPIKE: No, let’s just leave it
BUFFY: Okay.
SPIKE: We’ll go be heroes.
I am a Spuffy shipper, oh yes I am. Just like I ship Bangel. Totally awesome all around. Except I hate it when Spike is jealous of Angel (and Angel is jealous of Spike). There just needs to be orgies all around.

Anya and Andrew's wheelchair fight was HYSTERICAL.

Heh to the meta of:
Quote:
GUARDIAN: A weapon. A scythe. Forged in secrecy for one like you who— I’m sorry. What’s your name?
BUFFY: Buffy.
GUARDIAN: No, really.

Mah thoughts on 7x22 Chosen:

Spoiler:
So bad thing first: I hate that Anya died when Wood lived. I'm still a bit suspicious of the guy. But people die in "war" and she died heroically so that's that.

This Angel line screamed exposition: "It’s The First, right? The First Evil. The power that tried to convince me to kill myself."

But I think that's all of the bad stuff. Angel smelling Spike on Buffy was a little weird, but his sotto tone after learning Spike has a soul now? Hilarious. As was Buffy's cookie analogy:
Quote:
I’m cookie dough. I’m not done baking. I’m not finished becoming whoever the hell it is I’m going to turn out to be. I make it through this and the next thing and the next thing and maybe one day I turn around and realize I’m ready. I’m cookies. And then, you know, if I want someone to eat m— (covers) or enjoy warm, delicious cookie-me, then that’s fine. That’ll be then. When I’m done.
And a heehee to the Dawson shoutout.

Faith being all pouty about how she didn't change Wood's world was adorable.

I really loved them making all of the Potentials have the power, a genius way to overcome The First. The montage was ♥ And Willow going white hair? Awesome, but weird, too. I guess it's to contrast her Dark Willow.

Andrew as Little Red Riding Hood gave me giggles. He's not OMG BEST CHARACTER EVER, but he's not the worst.

I hated Spuffy bickering at the beginning, but their end was awesome. "I love you." "No, you don't. But thanks for saying it." ♥

The original Scoobies shot before they went into the battle made me misty-eyed. Aww. Scoobies are love.

It was such an "Oh ****" moment when the Turok-han race saw Buffy, Spike, Faith, and the Potentials. Yet like I said, I loved the montage. And go Vi being the first of the new Slayers to speak up.

Hee to Willow giggling at the end of the transformation. "That was so nifty."

How did Andrew not know about Anya's fear of bunnies?

Pretty sure I heard the "this mortal wound is all... itchy" before.

Sad that Millie's [BG Note: I mean Amanda, I still call her by her F&G character lol] gone. Understandable about the Chinese girl no one could understand.

Spike dying was so sad. Yet I know he'll be in season 5 Angel. Don't know how, when, or whatever. I just know he's there.

Heh to Giles not wanting to spoil the moment by saying there was another Hellmouth in Chicago. "We saved the world." Not "She saved the world." Aww.

Mah thoughts overall

Spoiler:
I always knew I was going to love this show. It just seemed like a huge time investment, but I'm so glad I've finally seen now (of course, I still have the comics for Buffy and comics and season 5 for Angel, but it won't be the same). I'm definitely thinking I'm leaning towards being a later season fan though I'm not sure if that's my watching them more recently talking. I'll say my top five right now are:

1. Fool For Love
2. Normal Again
3. Once More With Feeling
4. The Gift
5. Chosen

Fool For Love always got lots of love from me because I like to think that's when Spike love started getting less dormant, but it took until The Gift before I totally knew I loved Spike's character. Btw, I totally giggle at the fact that supposedly Spike was brought on to be Xander's boyfriend? That Joss didn't know who he was going to make gay at first Xander or Willow?

But yeah, even though I really sort of don't like Wood, I like how they brought his mother into it in the final season with the connections for FFL. Also, y'all know how much I love Spike jumping off the barrel in that Fanged Four flashback.

And I am so a Jet. (Reading from TWoP here.) NA forever love! Y'all know how much I love editing so it makes sense that I would love NA. So seamlessly blinding two realities. That end still creeps me out. In a good way. The good editing also helps my FFL love.

OMWF, of course, gets love as the musical episode. I've played that soundtrack so much in the last month or so. "Rest in Peace" is still my fave.

The Gift, as mentioned before, was definitely when I knew Spike leaped pretty high on my list. "I know that I'm a monster. But you treat me like a man." Buffy was so brave. And Giles killing Ben/Glory was so chilling.

Chosen. Well it's all up above!

...

HAhaha. I just noticed that pretty much all of my favourite episodes had to do with Spike? Who knew? I certainly didn't. So many people had me thinking I'd hate him because I hate [Veronica Mars'] Logan Echolls. But nope. lol. And I'm not really mentioning Willow (who is my favourite... supposedly). Crazy. I did briefly have The Body on my top five, one reason of which was because of the first onscreen kiss for WT. Another because of Anya's speech. Hush was also contemplated because that's when we met Tara and Willow's adorable "Hi Giles" on the white board. Beer Bad gets some respect, even though it's an unpopular opinion, because Willow didn't fall for Parker Abrams' crap. Same Time, Same Place would have been in the top if it weren't for the icky demon pecking away at Willow. Um. Becoming was sad, I remember that, but I've seen it so long ago that I should probably rewatch before making a firm judgment call on it. It just seems so long ago and a lot of great stuff since then. Grave when Xander saved the world by the Yellow Crayon speech. Aww.

Angel

C&P'ed from another board:

To begin, some FYIs, what I knew before starting:
Spoiler:
I knew Spike would be in this season even without seeing the credits for 5x1. Didn't know how. I know "Smile Time" is the puppets episode, but I don't know what that means. I just know there are puppets. And I know my straight lover Lindsey McDonald (and namesake for mah laptop) will be in at least the finale because I read foolishly on DB's IMDb and it said something about how CK and DB were the only two actors that were in the very first episode of Angel and the very last.

I think that is all though. So without ado, thoughts on the first two episodes:

5x1:
Spoiler:
Love seeing Harmony as Angel's secretary, I mean, assistant. Too bad she didn't know about Cordy.

Hope Noxie stays good. (Is he named for Marti Noxon? Oh wait, it's Knox.) The interference that certain sections of W&H have with Team Angel are annoying.

Also, hello Liam Fitzpatrick! Wow, you're a vampire.

Oh, I did end up avoiding the credits for this ep (though I did watch them for 5x2) since VLC made it easy for me.

The Spike reveal was pretty cool. I should have suspected that it was him, but I didn't know he'd be returning so fast.

Oh, the infusing Gunn with knowledge? Dangerous. Hope he wields it properly. And hee to the Gilbert and Sullivan. That is awesome. (I'm a big fan of the Mikado, honestly.)

I feel like I know Eve from somewhere. Hmm.

5x2:
Spoiler:
Whoa Spike being non-corporeal was some pretty freaky ****. And I just adore his bickering with Angel.

The twists were very entertaining.

Totally loving the final Fred and Spike scene. Oh Spike. I do love your character.

(Wow, wrote way less on 5x2 than 5x1, heh. And you know,
Spoiler:
since Spike is a major character for this final season of Angel, he might get knocked off the "favourite Buffy characters 'cause even if they were on Angel, I still consider them primarily Buffy characters" list and onto the list of "favourite characters that have had significant impact on Buffy and Angel" and also the list that combines the above two lists as well as Angel only characters like Fred.
)

Pan's Labyrinth

Just saw this for the first time. Been meaning to see it for a long while, because I like this sort of thing. Always been a big fairy tale guy. It's a great story, great effects and great acting. I need to start checking out more foreign movies.

jPod

I just realized these are all online for free at cbc.ca, maybe only for Canadians, so I'm going to watch that way since I don't key into any ratings by taping it anyway, plus I'm impatient waiting a week for each new ep. I had Pan's Labyrinth for well over a week before I popped it in, so that might hint at how long it takes me to get to around to watching things, but once I do get to it, I'll return to give my thoughts.

Glad you enjoyed Buffy, BepperGirl.

Ooh right I forgot that 'cause yes they are only for Canadians But hopefully they'll be on CBC for a while if it took you that long to watch PL.

Not sure if this really needs a spoiler tag, but just so Michelle doesn't peek in.

Spoiler:
Did you feel S6 or S7 differed from the rest of the series? Terms of tone, obviously, but in terms of quality? I think that's something that's still debated among fans. I'm one of those that dislikes S7, although I love S6 lots, but there's a ton who love it the best or think it's good too, and I think it's just something that's still argued to this day, so just wondering your thoughts on the final two seasons compared to the others.

I have a week off school because of Canada day, so I'm pretty sure I'll at least get the first ep and more if I like it of jpod done this weekend.

Hey, finally us Canadians get to watch something online that you guys can't! Role-reversals ftw!

In response to Tos:
Spoiler:
I definitely noticed a difference between the last two seasons and the rest, but honestly I think some of my favourites came from the later seasons like I said above. "Normal Again," OMWF, and "Chosen" are all currently in my top five. The other two being episodes from season 5. That's not to say I didn't find issue with certain things from these later seasons. For instance, it took a while for me to get back into the Buffy groove following watching two straight seasons of Angel, so I was a bit "huh?!" (Though that may be experiencing all that mess talking.)
Does that answer your question? Hee.

for a week off school! We don't get that much for Independence Day Though I'm done with my summer classes (and their finals) on July 2nd so the following day, it's hasta la vista, baby. See ya in the last week of August.

Pan's Labyrinth was awesome.

Lost

I just finished watching the last two episodes back to back, and I'm kind of in shock. So much happened, and almost none of it went like I thought it would. I was glad to see that Juliet and Desmond didn't die, because I was very afraid that they would. I guess that Desmond still could die since Ben is determined to kill Penny, but for now he's fine.

I thought I might be more affected by Jin's death, but I didn't really care either way. Sure he might possibly have survived the explosion, but with the island disappearing what are the odds of him being alive now? Of course, he could have floated over to Daniel's boat, and the people in there could have found their way to safety....but this is Lost, so I'm thinking that's not what happened.

I'll be back later with more thoughts.

Um. Are they beginning to recycle stuff? It just sorta hit me here with the werewolf storyline. (Yes, I know Spike getting a soul was "recycled" too.) Angel and Spike's bickering, love it. Also love Spike and Fred. (What, I'm a shipper whore.)

Spoiler:
So.Effing.Awesome. Reminded me of "Same Time, Same Place" a tiny bit with Spike being able to see Team Angel, but them not being able to see him. But we didn't get that peckish demon, which is a plus. The finger moving creeped me out.

5x5:
Spoiler:
Such a fun, lighthearted episode. And Lorne's subconscious is a bit like the Hulk, no?

5x6:
Spoiler:
Very meaty episode for meta, I think.

*talking with the Monty Python presenter's voice* Now over to something completely different!

One of my mates have just asked me to make him a playlist of my 15-25 favourite Beatles songs. He's "out of good music to listen to, and it's my job to make him like the Beatles" he said. It's a difficult job I'll tell you!

I'll post my list here when I'm finished.
