Agreed. What did you think of Mouth?

I kid you not, I know a few people who have no idea what Brooke was like in the first half of the series and try to fight for her like she's been this angel all along. They also see Peyton season 5 and think SHE'S the Brooke Davis of the show, too. So irritating. No, just no.

When do you think would have been a good time for Brooke/Jake?

Another question... let's say a nightmare happened and Brooke/Lucas would have stayed together past season 3 and even ended up together... I had a difficult time writing that. But let's just say that transpired... would you have been on board with Peyton ending up with Jake?
That stuff really annoys me since Brooke wasn't an perfect angel in the first 4 seasons, which no one on this show ever was since it just isn't realistic at all. I would have started off with them being friends at the end of S1 (instead of the Jeyton stuff of course), S2 would be about Brooke getting over Luke (or more realising it was more infatuated than love) in the first few episodes, with both parties slowly falling for each other in the second half of S2/first half of S3 and then they would date until 4.21 pretty much, but all of this requires Jake being an main of course. Lol, that sounds an horrible dream and an extremely unlikely one too lol. I would have accepted it, even though I think being with Jake would have held Peyton back in the long run and that would have them break up in the future, regardless of the Lucas situation.

I know that was never a theme or discussed out loud but I think it was unspoken. They just got married and two seconds later Haley's leaving... spells out on a psychological level that they shouldn't have gotten married so early.
He was one of the few things I liked about S2 lol. so I think that says something. Agreed, I don't think them getting married at the end of S1 was originally part of the plan considering the issues they had in 1.21, but I think it would have been better for both characters imo if they weren't tided down so soon. The way that both parties handled the whole tour situation showed that imo either of them were ready for that type of commitment at all. Mark should have waited a bit longer for them to get married imo and maybe then they could have avoided a lot of the things they got thrown at them, since I think all that partly happened because he didn't really know what to do with them.

He knew the character of Lucas better than any of us. He understood how stupid Lucas was being to Peyton and the situation as a whole. I hate to include this but it's probably true... he did probably want to get away from Sophia shooting daggers at him as well. I am sure that played a part too. I don't blame him for wanting to go do other stuff either. I just wish the series would have tied up the second the credits rolled in the finale of 6. I will forever dislike seasons 7-9 as a whole. OTH ended the second the finale of 6 was done. When I think of seasons 7-9 I ignore Clay/Quinn and just focus on Brooke getting a satisfying ending with Julian and Naley and family getting a great ending too. A couple of the secondary characters as well I think about but that's really it and I don't need to rewatch seasons 7-9 to SEE any of that either.
His love life was definitely his only flaw as a character, but it was an very annoying one at that. Chad definitely didn't think Luke was being fair and he pretty admitted that Luke wouldn't have been dumped at the altar if he was following his heart and he also didn't really seem to have a lot of sympathy for Luke's 'pain' in that episode. As an actor, it must have been really frustrate for Chad to be dealing with the same stuff in season 5 as he was in season 1 and can't blame for wanting to do new things at all. Honestly, I think the show should have ended after season 6 regardless of whether LP left or not, since it was starting to run out of steam imo. Also, I felt that there really wasn't much left to tell with LP's story and if Chilarie both leaving avoided them getting some storylines that Naley did, I am happy they left then. Outside of giving Brooke her happy ending imo, I didn't really seeing the point of dragging the show out for three more seasons with two of core 5 missing.

How would you rank each Peyton season? From favourite to least favourite?

I guess I was alone in not liking Chris. I wasn't even that big of a Naley fan and I couldn't stand him. There was just something about him that grated on my nerves. I didn't find him charming at all. Great voice; sour personality.

My favorite Peyton season is s3, 4 (I know psycho derek was lame plotline but it brought out some intense character moments and great acting from hilar), 2, 6, 1, 5.

It definitely annoys me too as you can tell, lol. I've had to tell at least three people they have to watch seasons 1-4 before making a decision on Brooke as a character during the first part of the series and then the second part of the series because it is night and day. I like how you would have done it. How did you feel about Jake having a baby part? Would you have removed that part if you could or do you think Brooke/Jake would have worked even better if he had the baby?

Yes, I wonder if Luke season 5 (along with the bonus of getting away from his ex-wife) is why Chad decided to leave. Yes, that's the thing... let's say Chad and Hilarie stayed and the series still ended in season 9. We know Mark would have messed with Leyton again (just like he tortured Naley) in those last few seasons. We wouldn't have gotten three seasons of happiness, that is for sure and I don't think Mark was capable of writing some mild drama but still Leyton being married and happy overall. So it was for the best that their story was tied up in the finale of 6.

I'd only be for it if Chad/Hilarie returned AND we knew Mark was not going to be stupid and have Leyton split up for drama purposes or something lame like that. If he was going to show them together and solid then I'd be all for it.

Season 1 Peyton rules my life. Hands down, this is my favorite season of Peyton. I can relate so much and Hilarie shines magically in this season as we're getting to know Peyton Sawyer.

Season 4... Peyton meeting her real brother was awesome, Leyton finally getting together. I loved when she told Lucas she loved him.
Season 6... Love more interaction with her brother, the wedding, the pregnancy, etc.
Season 3.. I just hated the triangle so much and all the Peyton and Brooke fighting.
Season 2 ... the cocaine storyline was really tough to see.
Season 5... I was Team Peyton this entire season but it was tough seeing her basically made to look like the bad guy when devious Lindsey was making sure she personally looked like the sweet angelic figure. Puke. I also wish Peyton would have ripped Haley a new one for her treatment of her.

You need to watch the whole series to make calls on any character. How would you have done it? I would have kept Jenny in the picture since it would have added some build up to Brooke wanting an family in 5.12.

Don't think so, since the rl tour was decided on middle season 2 during the writing.

I think the whole storyline was probably the straw that broke the camal's back when it came to Chad wanting to stay on the show, at least in my opinion. Honestly as much as I love Leyton, I think their story was over at the end of season 6 since they were never designed to be that happily married couple like Naley were and having two of the same couples for 2 and half seasons would have been boring imo.

That would pretty much my order to, but I swap around season 2 and 5 around. S2 is the one season where I felt Mark and the writers had no idea what to do with Peyton's character and it showed since she didn't really have an storyline of her own that season, with all of the storylines she was involved in ended up being about the guest star. I did like Jeyton, but I would have preferred to have seen Peyton deal with her issues in a different way.

You definitely need to watch the whole series to evaluate a character or make generalizations about a character. I'm with you... I would have kept Jenny in the picture. Good point about it even being like a foreshadowing of 5.12. That said, I couldn't see Brooke as hands on with Jenny like Peyton immediately was. I think it would take Brooke a way longer amount of time to handle a relationship with Jake when there's Jenny to make the #1 priority. Brooke was the definition of self absorbed back then. Keeping Jenny around certainly would make her grow up a lot more quickly though.

Really, outside of seeing some happy moments with Leyton/daughter and the two families of Leyton and Naley interacting, I think we received everything as a shipper fanbase. We got a beautiful wedding, birth of of child, meant to be tag that existed since day 1 so there was no doubt their ending wasn't convincing... what more could we have asked for? We received everything.

Yes, so true about Mark not knowing what to do with Peyton. Plus, he had to physically separate Leyton as much as possible because he wasn't ready to revisit them romantically just yet. Season 1 was the foundation for Leyton, the meant to be tag, the solid foundation was built. Then a major kink happened and Mark had to physically separate them for the most part because they were too convincing together. Get Lucas and Peyton anywhere near each other and you feel their romantic connection and you wonder why they are not reunited yet. Mark couldn't have that because he had to wait on them interacting a ton. There is an Everwood parallel too... Greg Berlanti had to separate Ephram/Amy as well in season 2 because the Ephram/Amy love story was way too believable and Berlanti didn't want them to get together romantically until the last several episodes of season 2. Thus, they didn't share the screen a ton in season 2 before then. They were too convincing. That is precisely what happened with Leyton too. That and Mark didn't know what to do with Peyton as a whole.
