I definitely see a lot of Earth sign (and, therefore, Capricorn!) tendencies in Julia, but she comes across as more of an Air or Water sign when it comes to socialising (she was involved in the PTA & hospital benefits and quite evidently knew lots of people through them and got on well with them). I'm incredibly maternal, loyal & protective of my family & the children I look after, and I definitely see that in Julia. She's definitely the grounding force in the family though, the peace-maker, not allowing Ephram to badmouth his dad, boundless patience when it came to Andy, brave enough to admit her infidelity.
I'll vote that she's a Capricorn, as I can't find a better fit & I aspire to parent like her, even though she's a fictional character!

I completely agree with you. She is not "perfectly" Capricorn but the BIG traits that I know you and both have as Capricorn, Julia definitely has, too... which I believe we are familiar with these and why Alex said my sister (another Capricorn) IS Julia, the mother.. The big one is the loyalty like you said, and family being everything. Very protective, loving, strong, enduring, that is Capricorn concerning family. Well said about being patient with Andy. That's a great point. Capricorns have endless patience because we don't stop until the job gets done, until the point is made. It doesn't mean we don't like to complain along the way, heh. We do, but we still have endless patience, especially concerning family which is why Julia not divorcing Andy makes a lot of sense to me if you see her as Capricorn. Family is "IT" and you never give up, you always find a way to make your familial relationships work, let alone anything else in life you set out to do. You simply don't give up. Where there's a will, there's a way... < should be the Capricorn slogan, heh.

ETA: I just thought about the socializing aspect of Julia... think about the things she was involved in... the PTA and Hospital benefits... what is the common denominator there? Her family! PTA for Ephram and Delia for example. Also, Capricorns cannot really sit still for long without having to do things. Whether or not we like to be social we somehow find ourselves being put in positions where we have to go there because of our natural ability to lead sometimes. Even if we don't want to go there, somehow it happens. It's like how we talked about being talked to constantly by strangers, etc. Somehow even if we are not at all loving being socially engulfed by others, at times we are forced to be against our will, heh. It just happens. Add in how we just have to be doing things since we come from Earth, we have to be active and "work" on some level! Julia could never just sit still without being active. So I see a lot of her activities out of the home more about how she has to contribute to society, she has to work, has to accomplish many things.

I agree with you guys that Julia has more Capricorn traits than not. I can't think of another sign that she could be. I guess it's difficult to fit perfectly with every characteristic of a sign.
So...I join in and cast my vote for Capricorn.

I'm just going to go ahead and make it official on the opening post and call Julia a Capricorn.

5. Maternal (I guess that that sounds obvious because she's, you know, a mother, hee, but it's not just Sam. She takes care of Delia too, and Ephram, and others.)

8. Good people-person (Especially in terms of giving advice.)
9. Passive & lacking in self confidence with men (at times).

I see Nina has several characteristics of a Cancer.

She is kind and sympathetic. Nina demonstrated this kindness and a sympathetic ear for Andy the first episode. She likes being a homemaker and family is very important to her. She would do anything for her son.
She has the need to nurture.. which was witnessed by the Browns. She not only nurtured Sam.....but also went out of her way to nurture Delia, Ephram, and even Andy.
Nina is sensitive and sometimes a little self-pitying.

Very good analysis of Nina. I definitely see water sign with her, too. She is very sensitive but has ways to cover that up at times. Also, whenever Andy admitted his feelings for her, she was pissed because she thought about how arrogant and demanding he was at that time thinking she would just blow off Jake. She reacted very emotionally and didn't let Andy forget too easily that he needed to remember how he hasn't seen the light forever but finally he does and he expects her to drop everything just because he finally grew a brain. That is definitely Cancer-like. Cancer's love to make you feel guilty for things. They don't do it in a vindictive way, it's just if you hurt them, they like to definitely embrace this and let you know whenever it all does come out because they are truly hurt and they cannot hide that!

There's a lot of internal "suffering" with Cancers. Nina did that A LOT for years with Andy. Even other instances such as her marriage that failed. She is very internalized with her emotions and owns her emotions completely.

She is the complete opposite of independent, Capricorn, Earth sign, Julia which is interesting because Capricorn and Cancer are opposite Sun signs!

Just a bit on opposite Sun signs. We can get into that at a later day. I will say that many opposite Sun signs are NOT compatible. The Aquarius/Leo combination is typically not a good opposite sign compatibility but the Capricorn/Cancer combination IS compatible which is because Capricorns are loyal and love family and the Cancer needs reassurance... what better way to be reassured emotionally if you're with a Capricorn who is loyal to the core? They both put family above everything else, too.

Anyway, I'm rambling as usual and we can get into opposite signs at a later day but I do find it very interesting that we picked Julia as the Earth Sign, Capricorn, and it seems as if Nina is a Water Sign, Cancer, opposite traits and we know that's definitely the case, so it's interesting how we are even on the right track here with astrology.

She fits the Cancer sign to me as well. I scanned the Scorpio and Pisces signs for other water signs and both do not seem to fit her. She's not an Earth sign, definitely not a Fire sign, and I don't see her as an Air sign either. She's Water and I think she fits Cancer.

Ephram/Nina seemed to have had some bonding here and there throughout the series and I think it's quite interesting to note that it would make all the more sense if we vote Nina as a Cancer sign, along with Ephram.
