County High Cafeteria #37 (General OT): End Of Summer Talking, Craziness, Cuteness, And Crepes

From last thead:

Betty, we had a middle school orientation right before school started, I don't think they do anything else? Dana is really enjoying it, even though she keeps getting sent to Homework Hall for stuff like forgetting to put her name on her homework, or forgetting it in her locker, stuff like that. Ahh, adjustments.

Nathan got into Gifted and Talented this year, he is LOVING it. Jacob is having a wee bit of trouble with his teacher, she's kind of a hard*ss. Think Delia's teacher (minus the belittling or we'd have already had him moved to another class). Sigh.
In our town...there is a 6th grade orientation at the beginning of the school year...and then the end of September there is a back to school night when the Parents come to the school...follow their child's schedule and visit the classroom to hear the teacher put on a show. In November during American Education week...Parents can come into the school during the day and sit in on their child's classes.

Congrats to Nathan!! Getting into the Gifted and Talented program is a wonderful accomplishment.

WET
PANTS

Come
with me to a third grade classroom....... There
is a nine-year-old kid sitting at his desk and
all of a sudden, there is a puddle between his
feet and the front of his pants are wet. He
thinks his heart is going to stop because he
cannot possibly imagine how this has
happened. It's never happened before, and
he knows that when the boys find out he will
never hear the end of it. When the girls find
out, they'll never speak to him again as long as
he lives...

The boy
believes his heart is going to stop; he puts his
head down and prays this prayer, 'Dear God, this
is an emergency! I need help now! Five minutes
from now I'm dead
meat.'

He looks
up from his prayer and here comes the teacher
with a look in her eyes that says he has been
discovered.

As the
teacher is walking toward him, a classmate named
Susie is carrying a goldfish bowl that is filled
with water.. Susie trips in front of the teacher
and inexplicably dumps the bowl of water in the
boy's lap.

The boy
pretends to be angry, but all the while is
saying to himself, 'Thank you, Lord! Thank you,
Lord!'

Now all
of a sudden, instead of being the object of
ridicule, the boy is the object of sympathy. The
teacher rushes him downstairs and gives him gym
shorts to put on while his pants dry out. All
the other children are on their hands and knees
cleaning up around his desk. The sympathy is
wonderful . But as life would have it, the
ridicule that should have been his has been
transferred to someone else -
Susie.

She
tries to help, but they tell her to get out.
You've done enough, you
klutz!'

Finally,
at the end of the day, as they are waiting for
the bus, the boy walks over to Susie and
whispers, 'You did that on purpose, didn't you?'
Susie whispers back, 'I wet my pants once
too..
.'

Its umm hard to explain you like Lynard Skinnard? Kinda like his music a little rock mixed in with real country not the stylized nashville country, not to say nashville country doesnt have its charm as well. Here are some links to some eli young:
Always the Love SOngs
Guardian Angel(Live)
Guinevere

Randy Rogers, Casey Donahew, and Josh Abbot are also big in Texas Country among many others.

Well Im in Texas where I guess technically Summer is over but its still in the low 90's most days.

5 degrees celsius, Rolfi? That's about 41 degrees fahrenheit. Wow...it's getting cold already!
In NJ..it's still very warm. I had the air conditioner on yesterday...still wearing summer clothes.

Same with me. As I recall, Cash didn't like a lot of the "new" kind of country either, so even he's pretty much in the same boat, because I'm sure he didn't dislike his own music, heh. Loretta Lynn isn't half bad either.

I listened to the Eli Young and its exactly what I think when I think of country music. It kinda makes me think about driving around in Texas while relaxing to the music If that even makes any sense I dont really mind country music, its just that its not my first choice to listen to. I do love the song Sweet Home Alabama Im not sure as to how much 90 fahrenheit is in degrees But its pretty cold here in Norway now, I really envy you Betty

Haha yeah we do a lot of "dirt roading" anyone else do that? Its a small town thing probably since we didnt have a movie theatre, bowling alley, clubs, or any other things like that to do we had to find other fun. Basically it consisted of blaring some good Texas Country and driving around the back roads drinking...except for the driver we arnt that reckless.

A friend of ours is up and coming in the Country world she is kinda in between Texas Country and Nashville but anyway here is a link to her site the music usually starts playing as soon as the page loads and you can scroll down to musci player to change songs Her first CD just came out this past May anyway enjoy!

O and 90 Farenhiet is round 30 Celsius or so.

How did the job interview go, Patricia? Seems like there's been some good luck lately in those, so hopefully that good luck spread to yours too.

Belated congrats on Nathan getting into the Gifted and Talented class, Taryn! And belated s for the back to school night going great and the kids being great too, Betty. Is it true that often times the parents can be the hardest to deal with? Glad to hear that that wasn't the case on the back to school night, though.

Yes, parents can definitely be the worst part of the kid! I don't give them a chance Back to school night. The parents follow their kid's schedule...going through the periods from class to class. Each period lasts 8 minutes...so I make sure I have enough to say that would last 9 minutes. I talk so much...the parents have no chance to say or ask anything! Then the bell rings and they have to move to their child's next class.
