Favorite Season?

I didn't know what thread to post this in so I just made it.

I realized unlike other shows I can honestly say I enjoyed all 4 seasons of Everwood. I was thinking what was my favorite and before I say mine I will have to say Quality wise I do think season 1 is the best in terms of that but I think my personal favorite is season 2. I don't know I just like it the best for some reason. I liked Ephram/Maddy most of the time and I loved the opening stages of Ephram/Amys romance leading into season 3.

Hi there

Great thread idea! I admit, at first I wasn't sure what to do with it, lol! Then I thought about it and realized i needed to not touch it, and let it be ;) I can see lots of debating and great idea swapping going on in this thread :) Can't wait to see how it turns out!

i know my all ti favorite season would have to be season 1. I'm not great at lengthy explanations supported by examples (that's more Michelle's -my co-mod- department!) But basically, I think season 1 rocked because it captured all that the show was about. Father/son trying to get back in touch, Ephram and Amy's pure, amazing, moving feelings for one another, the amazing storylines, the amazing character developement, etc... It was all what made this show a "gem" to begin with :)

I can also honestly say that I liked every season of Everwood, and this was a show that never disappointed me. There were storylines that I didn’t like in each season, like Ephram and Madison, and Amy and Tommy, and I also really disliked the Andy and Amanda affair, but overall, the acting and writing on Everwood were superb in every season. If I had to pick one season though, I would pick Season One, because that’s the season where it all began.

Right on, Jerry :) I agree. I think the show, as a whole, was amazingly well done. I too had some pairings/storylines I dind't really like, but never did I not like Everwood itself. Season 1 was definately amazing, no doubt :)

That's easy: Season 3.

Care to share why season 3 was your favorite? I'm curious :)

I came here to write something incredibly detailed but then I read your thoughts, Jerry, and you literally summed up what I was going to say and what I would have said but in a rarmbled version. Heh.

Honestly, my thoughts exactly. I also loved every season of this gem of a show. How could you not? The quality reached the clouds. It was high, high quality even with some of the miserable storylines such as Ephram/Madison, Amy/Tommy of season 2, too much Jake/Hannah screentime in seasons 3/4, the horrific Andy/Amanda affair. Neverthless, the writing, acting, unique realness that only this show had to offer, was always spectacular.

However, my answer to this question would still have to be season one because it literally was the best season of TV that I have ever seen. Nothing else that I have seen has come close to the perfection of this season. And I think the reason why I pick this season while previously mentioning that every season of this show is superb is the very fact that this was where it all began. The beginning of a terrific, one of a kind, beautiful, rare television series.

Oh I do agree with everyone on Amy/Tommy of season 2. I did not like them at all. Although I thought Ephram/Amy were meant to be and wanted to see them end up together but for some reason I did enjoy most of the Ephram/Madison stuff.

That's because you thought Madison was hot, Eric! ;) I saw you post that here once! ;)

I personally couldn't warm up to Madison and Ephram because they were totally mismatched. Their age difference pretty much ruined any chance that they might have had, because they were at different stages of their lives, and the main thing I didn't like about Madison and Ephram was that she acted like she was ashamed to be with him, and so I never saw her as a real girlfriend for him. When people are older, age differences don't matter, but when a guy is 16 and a girl is 20 (I'm assuming that Madison was 20) it just can't work, not to mention it was borderline illegal! ;)

COOLCAT200 07-08-2006 09:42 PM

Truth be told that is true lol.

I do agree because of the age difference it really was not something that could last in the long run.

I think that was the final straw for me. I didn't like them, naturally because I'm a Greenie, but I could have been able to handle them better if she wasn't shamed of him every second. I thought that was wrong on her part, to want to be with him, but then feel ashamed of his age and treat him like a kid.

Okay, moving on... haha!

Indeed. You just listed the exact reasoning as to why I could never get on board with EM.

Not to mention the fact that I was extremely weirded out by the age difference. See, it was never about the fact that they were four years apart. That is nothing by years. It had to do with what age the both of them were at during this time... Ephram was only 16 years old! That is miles away from a girl that is 20. Not to mention the borderline illegal thing you mentioned. ;)

If EM started dating when Ephram was, say, 25 and Madison was 29, that's a completely different story. That's just fine. Like you said, when people are older, age differences do not matter. So true. It had everything to do with the fact that Ephram was only 16.. It totally weirded me out. I found myself cringing during any romantic encounter they had.

The one thing that I wish would have been explained away but never was pertains to how Madison told Andy in the finale of 2 that her and Ephram were careful whenever sleeping together. But then in season 3 we hear Ephram tell Jake as he is getting tested for STDs that they certainly were not careful... They never used protection once or twice, the condom broke, in other words, they certainly were careless at times... As a result, did Madison flat out lie to Andy, then? I'm thinking yes. Maybe she was on the pill during this time but somehow I doubt that since that is such a huge protection from pregnancy if you take it as prescribed. I guess anything is possible though. But I do find it odd that both Ephram and Madison had different takes on this. Unless Ephram was just focusing on the STD part and Madison was focused on the pregnancy part. Who knows.

My fave season?

Season 1. For Colin and how it affected everyone. For Amy&Ephram and for Andy, discovering his teenage boy. S2 is a close #2 on my list :P [because of Amy's storyline that I found amazingly realistic and so well written/played]

Augusta 07-10-2006 10:02 AM

Good points you bring up, Michelle about Madison and Ephram's totally different answers to the question of being careful. That's something I quickly caught as well when I saw that sccene where Ephram admitted they weren't always careful, yet MAdison was quick to assure Andy they were. Did she say that to cover her own butt? Possibly. Or like you said, they were both thining of different things.

I like all the seasons of Everwood equally. Its hard to chose between the 4 of them since they all had their good qualities and bad ..
