Welcome Posters!

Welcome to the Emily Van Camp/Amy Abbott Appreciation Thread! Here's the place to express your thoughts, likes, dislikes, and opinions of Emily Van Camp and her Everwood character Amy Abbott.

Canadian actress Emily VanCamp was born on May 12, 1986 in Port Perry, Ontario. She began her acting career in 2000, appearing in several episodes of Are You Afraid of the Dark? A year later, she made her film debut, playing a supporting role in the Canadian romantic film Lost and Delirious. She moved to Los Angeles in 2002, and got her first regular television work, starring in the short-lived mystery series Glory Days.

Later in 2002, VanCamp joined the cast of the family drama Everwood. She is most recognized by audiences as Amy Abbott, the teenaged daughter of local doctor Harold Abbott (Chris Pratt). She was nominated for four Teen Choice Awards and one Young Artist Award during her run in the show. Despite considerable ratings success, the series was not renewed after four seasons, after the WB, its home network, merged with UPN to form the CW. During the time, she appeared in several films, including A Different Loyalty, Black Irish and The Ring Two.

In 2007, VanCamp joined the cast of the acclaimed drama series Brothers & Sisters. She played the role of Rebecca Harper, the alleged daughter of William Walker (Tom Skeritt) with his mistress of 20 years, Holly Harper (Patricia Wettig). William’s kin tried to accept her after her existence was discovered, as Rebecca confronted her mother about her actual origins. It was later discovered that her father is not William, but film director David Caplan (Ken Olin).

After three years on Brothers and Sisters, VanCamp moved on to star on the ABC series Revenge as Emily Thorne, a mysterious woman seeking vengeance from the people who killed her father.

Birthday: May 12, Ontario

Just because they're endgame, doesn't mean you can torture them... So annoying.

Was always a Chuck/Blair fan though, from start to finish. How about you?

I was not a fan. His attempt at rape turned me off big time. I felt that his influence on Blair was not positive. I'm glad that his character was redeemed in the end.

Love the title! Thanks for the new thread!

EDIT : So I've been rewatching season 1 of Revenge in the last couple of weeks. About to start episode 16. I already knew how much I loved Jack and Emily, but season 2 made me forget some of their most magical season 1 moments though, and it may sound stupid, but A LOT of them are extra amazing because of Sammy. Why did they have to kill that dog? WHY?! Jack just decided to move away for a few months, so he left Sammy with Emily, and you just see the connection they share...including Sammy, lol. I miss that dog, haha.

It's also quite obvious that Emily has always ignored her feelings. She never really stated to anyone where her heart really lies. Ofcourse she told multiple people she loved them, but we knew it was just part of a revenge plan. She is really reserved about her feelings. I just saw the episode in which she states that her feelings are ''irrelevant''. That they don't matter. I really think she loves Jack. I hope she's just using Aiden for her plan because of his experience and because he's loyal to her.

Awe, it's okay. This board is so relaxed and the posters are so mature. As a result, we don't care if it goes off topic every once in a while.

As for Chuck/Blair... I thought when he declared his love for her out on the street in Manhattan was one of the best romantic scenes I've ever seen on TV. I loved it. I even liked many aspects of Chuck/Blair in the earlier seasons. I was not a fan of the rape stuff on both Jenny and Serena, sleeping with Jenny, a couple moments with Blair that seemed a bit out of control. However, during the last few episodes of the series, I really bought that they were meant to be together AND especially in the future. I bought that he had changed into a much mature guy who certainly loved his family. I definitely thought both the Dan/Serena and Chuck/Blair endings made sense. Which is why I thought Dan/Blair ever getting together was so ridiculous because you always knew it was going to be those main two pairings. Even throughout the bad writing and storyline moments, I don't think many thought those two pairings were not ending up together. That detour was unnecessary and never going anywhere. I felt sorry for the Dair fans who were manipulated because I really believed that they were. Their pairing never stood a chance in the end and I believe the writers ruined the Dan/Blair friendship too which was even worse than the actual romantic relationship failing for Dair fans. I did buy given what we saw in the future that Dan and Blair were friends again though. I just feel like for Dair fans, they really got screwed because they didn't get to see any friendship rebuild at all.

LOL! I know!!!!!!!!!! I cried the most during the episode when Sammy died. That little guy literally BROUGHT Emily and Jack together in the same place so he could pass away with them right next to each other and with him. I think that's why in the future episode where Jack is looking at little Sammy dogs, it's foreshadowing and significant. I think in the future, Jack and Emily will buy a new Sammy dog.

EXACTLY! That could be why I am so positive and enthusiastic about Jack and Emily. I am usually a very glass is half empty kind of person, trying to always see the bad news first to prepare for it.

So it is not like me to be so positive and sure when it comes to even shows since it's in my nature to be really careful and expect and prepare for the worst. I think why I have been so positive and convinced is because I just watched the series from start to finish so it's totally fresh in my mind. That is why Aiden doesn't scare me in the least. There's no way given what we saw in seasons 1/2 and Emily's love for Jack is all about! No way!

Yes, she is so reserved she almost has to be numb about her feelings for Jack unless she's forced to face her feelings. Seeing Jack causes that. Otherwise, it's very easy for her to walk around robotic with Aiden not having to deal with her heart, her true feelings. They are not with Aiden... they are only with Jack romantically and Nolan platonically. Bye, bye Aiden. LOL

I must admit that I was a big Dair shipper, since, for a long time, they were the only reason I still watched the show. The writing was very bad, but their dynamic felt fresh, and it felt like the show needed that. I was glad that they got feelings for one another, but at the end of the day I would have been very happy with a good friendship aswell, because they had more in common than you would have thought in the earlier seasons. They share a scene in season 1 that's really great though. They are just sitting in a hallway talking about their parents I think.

That said, I do admit that I always knew that Blair would end up with Chuck anyway. I just hoped Dan would change her a bit, so she would be more likeable in the future. And he did. But it was quite sad that they dumped the Dan/Blair story line so sudden ; and at a certain point they didn't even seem friends anymore, which was sad. I can only hope that they were good friends again in the future. Sorry for going off-topic, lol.

I LOVED that scene so much. Loved, LOVED it! It was a fabulous scene and my very favorite Dair scene of the series. To me, that scene represents wasted potential when you think of what happens between them after that scene. The writers really screwed it up.

Yes, the writers used and abused this pairing in the later seasons. It was so sad.

I love the little actors who play this pairing:

Jack was mean right after that kiss, but that kiss was real:

So cute:

I want the second half of season 3 about this trio:

And I want this murderer:

GONE!

Ugh I hate aiden so much. He us a gross he man wannabe

I really should not talk about DB. I wanted a friendship but no romance because Dan being physically or emotionally drawn to her made no sense. 104 was about showing you that Dan was a nice guy. But that sll should have stopped as friends. They were drier than toast without jam and s3 proved Blair would always be a brat. I think it being a con was more believable cause of who Blair was-- a spoiled selfish girl that cared about feeling better than her best friend.

Aw, yes. That scene was so sweet and perfect. Chuck is so romantic. Once he was in, he was all in. It's hard not to love that as a viewer. He definitely made his mistakes, and I understand people disliking their relationship because of them.

Yeah, I wish they kept Dan/Blair as friends. They had a really sweet friendship for a while there. Maybe a kiss and then they realized it was wrong or something, whatever, but they were definitely great as friends. I do feel bad for the Dair fans because they got so much build-up for almost nothing really. :\

Sammy was really old at that point, it made sense for the story. But it was SO heartbreaking!!! That's probably the only episode of Revenge that I cried. What a scene!!!

Jack has been through so much on this show.

Michelle, I don't think all your pictures are working. Not for me anyway. I love the Nolan/Emily hug though ( well Nolan's arm around her ). I just saw that episode, and Emily's response ( ''Don't do that'', ) was simple, but still very funny, haha. Deep down she really cares for him though, and that only grew over the years. When Nolan slept with Tyler in season 1, I loved Emily's tone/voice when she told him he slept with a prostitue, or something. Their scenes are WOW-zors! Amazing

Fully agreed about Aiden, he has to go!!

We should bring the Gossip Girl talk to the other shows discussion
