 Due to his illness, like how he gets more and more sick or his behavior in general?

His behavior and stubbornness.

I am sad though that he died. :(

I actually thought that it was necessary for him to die because otherwise Season Two would have been a repeat of Season One with Amy waiting for Colin to recover from his surgery and Ephram longing for Amy. In addition to that, the show and the town would have centered around Colin again and they had already gone there.

I definitely see that happening if he didn't die. The storyline has been done before, so as sad as it was, it also was necessary for him to die, so everyone else can move up and forward. Soon after Colin woke up from the coma, I felt he was just holding Amy back. He definitely wasn't the same person, though I didn't know old Colin very well either. :P

it was just sad that he woke up just to die again. not from a SL standpoint because obviously I didnt really like Colin, but just a sad story all around.

They could have had him move away. But then also I'm not sure Amy would have ever gotten over him, knowing he is still alive and what could have been.

That is definitely the bottom line. Colin need to be dead. Amy was too in love with the idea of Colin even though she wasn't in love with him. She needed a clean slate to be able to open up to letting Ephram in.

From story point of view I completely understand why Colin had to die. Colin was the character that brought them all together. Andy and Harold became close because of Colin. Harold might have been quirky, but he knew how much Colin meant for Amy. For her he was willing to try. Colin brought Amy and Ephram together and we all know how. Colin even brought Andy and Ephram together as maybe this was the first time when Ephram had to ask Andy for something and trust him. Colin brought Bright and Ephram together as friends.

It is bittersweet that he had to die, but in a way Colin was the past and they were headed to the future.

I understand why they killed Colin, but I liked his character so I was not happy about it.

Your thoughts are my thoughts. It was really sad that he died but I didn't enjoy the Colin we received in flashbacks at all and even after woke up. I know some feel the Colin we received wasn't the real Colin in the flashbacks but I can't agree. I believe aspects of Colin as his health was declining were not the real Colin but there were many moments when we viewed the real Colin... I have to say I wasn't a fan of that Colin. He came across as really cocky and like you said, stubborn.

I agree, Jerry. It was necessary for Colin to die. Colin and Julia were always meant to be significant characters but in a unique way. The story was Everwood, two families coming together due to loss, tragedy, and healing together through direct relationships with each other.

Poor Amy would still be floating in the land of delusion not in love with Colin. Of course we know Colin was breaking up with her before the accident so I don't think they would have lasted regardless. Ephram/Amy were way too meant to be. However, had Colin lived, the journey for Ephram/Amy would have been much longer and way more complicated.

Colin and Julia served the same purpose for sure... like you said they were the past and the future just wasn't in the cards for them in human form. In Spirit, absolutely. Colin and Julia were extremely important characters, that is for sure.

Jerry D 02-06-2018 07:38 PM

It was also telling that in the height of their grief, both Andy and Amy "saw" Julia and Colin and even conversed with their "ghosts" and their "ghosts" had to tell them to move on which I feel was their subconscious minds telling them that they had to get past their grief and get on with their lives.
