Everwood Melting Pot

This thread is for discussing different cultures and customs around the world.
Current events are welcome.

As moderators we enjoy the atmosphere and environment and we would like to keep it like that. We know that sometimes in the heat of the moment we can cross the line so we would kindly ask you to follow the rules below:

1. Discuss opinions and ideas. Do not bash people (both posters or celebrities)
2. Respect the opinion of fellow posters even if you disagree
3. Attack ideas. Do not attack people
4. Accept that someone having different opinion does not mean that they hate you or dislike. They just disagree with you.
5. If you feel that someone shows any disrespect towards anyone please do not engage in arguments. Contact us and we will handle it

Most important of all...we need to be open-minded and show respect for our fellow posters.

We (Michelle, Betty and I) thank you for reading and complying to those rules and hope that you will have fun posting here!

Precisely, Jerry. He got carried away with being able to be the worst person humanly possible (since that's what happens when you go dirty and campaign) but honestly never thought he'd win or even if he thought he had a chance, he never stopped to think about if he'd actually like the job as president. I think he only loves the power but actual work and really doing something good for the country? He doesn't like this in the least. He has never been about serving the people. He's only about himself. How on earth could he care about others when he only cares about himself? If he does anything good he only goes there for the praise.

Absolutely Michelle.

If he wanted to spare the country any ordeal he wouldn't have run for President!

I think you're right, Michelle, Trump never expected to win, but now that he has...he's on a huge power trip which is full of HIMSELF.

Last night, I stopped over one of my neighbor's houses and as usual they were watching sports on television and drinking. At one point, they switched on a comedy show and in it, the comedian made a remark that everyone holds Adolph Hitler as the standard bearer of evil, and he said that while Hitler definitely was evil, Stalin was just as bad and he killed even more people than Hitler did, and I said "That's true. Stalin killed many more people than Hitler did, and he was just as bad or even worse than Hitler," and my neighbor's wife said "Who's Stalin?" I couldn't believe my ears. I said "he was the dictator of Russia during the 1920's to the 1950's." She just looked at me with a blank stare and they all went back to watching this comedian. Unbelievable.

True Betty, but I think that Trump is far worse than Nixon. Nixon would be considered too moderate for today's Republicans. He did accomplish some good things while he was in office, like increasing funding for many federal civil rights agencies like the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), and he proposed legislation that created the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). With Nixon though, the bad outweighs the good and he resigned the Presidency in disgrace, but I still think that he was a better President than Trump is.

I would say that she's in her thirties. I just couldn't believe it.

Unreal. It doesn't say much for what is being taught in our schools. Not enough history and geography.

Oh I know. I think that it's even worse down here. Plus, with this group of neighbors, it's pretty much impossible to have an intelligent discussion with them.

LOL Wow.

Please don't tell me those drinking neighbors support Trump? I am afraid of hearing the answer, lol.

Yes, they all support Trump. That's another reason why I don't like to spend a lot of time with them.
