The Everwood Rewatch Fest: "Till Death Do Us Part" (S1, Ep. 8)
We'll keep this up for one week and then go on to the next episode. After you've watched the episode, you can comment on it anyway you'd like, big or small. You can focus on certain characters, scenes, quotes, or the episode as a whole. You can tie the episode to the rest of the series, or comment about it as a self-contained episode. It's all up to you! You can always give your thoughts after the one week period, as all rewatch threads will stay open for more thoughts and anymore discussion. Thanks!

That's all I have to say. No, but seriously, between Treat's monologue and the Reverend's monologue, I was a blubbering basket case. Be back later for a more in depth...analysis. Heh. __________________

You know, both Mr. and Mrs. Keyes are...not very likable in this episode, but both actors are both still able to make the story work. Reverend Keyes definitely becomes more and more likable as the series grows on. His final appearance is, like, the epitome of likability.
I like that in Amy's fantasy, there's a specific mention that the Broncos suck. She must not be a fan. I like how much Ephram is really trying with Andy in this episode. He's so sweet. Damn Good scene between Abbott and Brown in the bar. Andy's a wise man. That's why he has a beard, I guess. I thought I'd get to this before Betty does, hee: those guys phoning Amy about Colin...I still don't get it. She's one of the most popular girls in school. Her brother is Bright, also super popular AND one of the tough guys at school. Colin, as portrayed in the show, was THE most popular guy at school. I just don't see it happening. If nothing else, though, it proved that Ephram is surprisingly strong for such a scrawny guy if someone pisses off Amy. "Mrs. Marpole couldn't have figured this out. This took work..." Andy, you sat in a frickin' bar and the bartender mentioned something about free-range chicken. That is NOT work, heh. How soon Amy forgets (like, later this episode for instance) about the little speech she gives Ephram about how he's been there for her and them not becoming strangers. Harold and Rose rule. That is all. Okay, there are two things that I love about the final church scene beyond the obvious. One, the shocked lady behind Andy that keeps opening her mouth in shock at every revelation, turning to her left and right to gossip with someone. Two, Irv's award-show like smile when he loses out to Andy. You can tell that he's seething inside that someone beat him out, hee. I wonder if Treat ever submitted this as an Emmy episode, because man, he is a force in this one. That scene in the church is incredible acting. __________________

And Amy's treatment of Ephram are going to get much more fun for you, Betty. We have officially entered the Evil Amy zone, hee. __________________

I never thought of Julia's and Andy's names on the tickets to Florence. But hey, he wanted to be nice.
Like all episodes before I this, too! We got amazing scene of which I'll tell you a bit. Ok, the first one will be a stupid one (at least for me it was). Ephraim kissing Amy in the mine. Is he crazy or what? I know he's 15 and he's too mature in all the episodes and maybe that's why I hate him kissing Amy in this scene... She's totally sad and down because of Colin, Colin is supposed to wake up really soon and he kisses Amy. Sorry that it bothers me that much But IMO it has destroyed so much between them. But I loved him asking if they still will be friends when Colin wakes up finally. I so get his fear of loosing her after his dad helped Colin and it made me happy to hear her answer She's at least in this scene amazing. Then there have been so many heartbreaking scenes in the episode: First of all Andy in the church. I totally had tears in my eyes. In this scene we for the first time get to see how 'dead' Andy's inside. It has been 8 month and he still doesn't know how to be happy or enjoy life again. Life doesn't make sense to him any longer. But I thought he has to think about Delia and Ephraim and they should be the reason for him to finding his way back again. Another touching scene was Amy going to see Colin the first time after he woke up. I still don't get why nobody told her that this would most likely happen. So I'm really curious how this SL will continue because I know that I've missed lots of episodes about Colins recovery. __________________

I have a feeling this is a really unpopular opinion, but I really, really did not like Rev. Keyes "hope message" or whatever he called it. A minister, of all people, should not be telling his congregation that he saw a man crying out to God for answers and getting none. That just bugged me.
Haaaaated Mrs. Keyes. Geez lady, you think your ATTITUDE might be what's turning your husband off instead of your appearance? I felt sorry for Andy once I realized what had him so upset about them splitting up, but otherwise felt like sending Rev. Keyes a You're Better Off Without Her, Dude card. It's already been covered, but the guys definitely would not have prank called Amy about Colin waking up. That was just cold. Love that Ephram was ready to kick ass though. He was pretty dumb to kiss Amy, and it may have been childish of her to have whatsherface move into her seat, but I understand her not wanting Ephram to sit with her on the way home. She needed time to process what had happened and what it was going to mean for them. Amy's daydream about Colin waking up was so realistic. Not realistic in the way that it could really happen outside of a soap opera, but realistic in that it's such a teenage girl thing to be dreaming about and planning out and all. And even though she "should" have been prepared for what really happened when he did wake up, I think the reality of it was just too much. She could no longer pretend that he was hearing everything she said and understood everything but just couldn't respond, she had to face the fact that she was a stranger to him. I think the fact that they had grown up together and had shared memories from their childhood probably made it that much harder too. Hubby and I grew up together, and there is something especially intimate about being able to say "Remember the time in fifth grade when...?" Amy's not going to have that with Colin anymore, and that's a hard thing to deal with. |

Random observation: it's pretty neat that you two are watching most of the episodes around the same time.

And same about Andy... His speech in the church comes really surprising. The viewer doesn't thing something like this would happen. The last episodes he was so normal 'outside' and you could assume he's over her and better now but this moment in the church again showed us that he beyond being ok. __________________
