I'd say that Ephram's hero is probably Julia too & can definitely see Bright thinking of Harold as his hero. I think Amy might choose Rose or Edna, as they're strong women who speak their minds & are pretty phenomenal!
Who was Brittany's hero? Oh, hang on, wasn't it the Olsen Twins? Blech to that! |

Thanks for the input, Thief and Louisa!
I, too, really like Harold being Bright's. Oh man, I can imagine one of my bawling breakdowns if I ever got to see him actually express that, hee. Aw, yeah, I quite love that idea. I also agree with Amy choosing Edna or Rose, Louisa. I think Edna would be more likely in the early seasons. I think, obviously, during Rose's cancer, Amy got more of an appreciation for how strong Rose is and how important she is to her, but early on, probably Edna. I mean, even just for going to Vietnam and serving her country. Both have that strength and independence that Amy holds dear. I still think Amy has a bit further to go in truly understanding how much her mother does too. I also wonder if Andy would choose Julia too? I mean, the whole series is really about him realizing how great of a mother and wife she was. Especially since he's trying, but failing, so hard to live up to her as a parent in the early seasons. I don't know if that counts as a hero, but how she kept that family together with Andy being who he was, I think he might choose her too. He definitely looks up to her, anyway. Julia: hero to all. All the Browns, anyway. __________________

I'm not completely sold on Amy picking Rose, to be honest, if only for her stressing, as late as S4, that she didn't want to be like her mother (the "small life" conversation with Reid in "Free Fall"). She loves and respects her mother, but, to me, "hero" also implies the desire to emulate that person in some way, and Amy seemed pretty clearly not to want that. Heck, as far as S4 is concerned, I think she'd almost be more likely to pick Prof. Laurie. (Actually, wasn't the Rose issue even part of our S5 arc for Amy -- that she would get a better insight into Rose's life and work, and gain a greater admiration for her because of that?)

Well, I said "almost more likely." Didn't say that she'd actually choose her as her hero, hee.
It's an interesting topic, though, especially because I tried to apply it to myself and realized that I've no blasted clue whom I'd pick as my own hero. It's so much easier determining these things for fictional characters. __________________

It is very difficult to figure out who you would pick! I think it would be one of my parents now, but when I was Delia's age? It probably would have been an action movie star or Steve Yzerman, heh. Which is also why I like Delia's choice so much: it's a very mature choice, and she reasoned out who should be her choice throughout the whole episode. She put a lot of work into it, while everyone else just chose famous people. I'd like to believe that she would have chosen Julia even if Jula was still alive after looking at all of her choices. Maybe not, maybe Julia's death made her grow up a lot more than she would have otherwise, and she would have chosen Buffy, hee.

just finished this episode....
I love how Delia showed her mind towards Linda. Although the comments about Linda's healthy food tasting like I didn't particularly care for Madison, I really haven't formed a whole opinion of her just yet. But I do like the way she just let Ephram and Andy have it when they were doing one of their ever so famous four alarm arguements that can be heard from Nina's living room. I think they both needed. They argue a lot, and they never stopped to think of how it affected Delia, but it does. She just doesn't say anything. But other than that, not really a fan of Madison in her bossy ways...even if she is the babysitter. I think Amy is need of some serious help. I think Harold was put in an incredible unfair position. He tries to play both father and doctor to Amy and it doesn't work. He has to be one or the other. If he didn't prescribe her something, she would have gone to Andy or taken something that she didn't know if it was safe and who knows what she would be doing to herself. Amy is one who wraps herself around her moeitons. andd this time it's really unhealthy. She likes to feel something and she feels all the negative emotions but doesn't know how to stop. I've been there, thinking that everyone else can move oan dn you're still stuck on day one. It's sad, but true, a lot of us go through it and we think it's either a dream or we're somehow programmed differently. By the way, flawless acting on Emily's part when AMy was giving her lecture to Harold about prescribing something to everyone else but her. Sometimes Harold needs to take the father blinders off and be a real doctor when it comes to his kids. They have real problems that need a real doctor's attention...not a biased one. I like Linda, to a certain part. But it's like seeing Ephram or Amy with someone else. I just don't like it. I've seen the finale, I know what all happens in the end, but really, I just don't see Linda fitting in with Andy's life. Especially with Delia making Andy promise, oh so promise to never date Linda. __________________

I did miss adorable tomboy Delia some of the time, but that connection to Julia while she grew up made it all worth it for me. __________________

can there be a mixture of both?
I love how she's growing up, but yeah, the softball playing, basketball loving Delia will always be our shining point __________________

A mixture would have been nice. It's interesting that she threw away most of that tomboy part away. But that probably isn't all that rare for most girls like her. She DID keep that strong, independent streak, at least.

Pretty good episode.
I'm glad that Madison wasn't really in this one too much. Amy's storyline was interesting and hard to watch. I feel like Harold should have let her go on the meds if she really wanted them and thought they would help her feel better. It doesnt mean she has to be on them forever. Delia was being such a little brat, but I understand why she's feeling upset. She's still young and I think Andy honestly should wait a bit longer before attempting to date again. I dont dislike Linda but her little outburst at Andy did sort of annoy me. |
