| Supreme Fan ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Alright, we've got a further wrench into understanding how music substitution works. According to a poster on the imdb.com Everwood message board, the season one episodes have different music than the DVD did with its original songs and artists. Huh. This does seem to make more sense because taking away songs would be easier than adding songs, but we've always assumed that the DVDs would have the same music as the website, but does this change things? I don't know about you, but with "Fields of Gold" staying, and now this, I'm more confused than ever. I also forget if we actually knew this, hee. So if we did and this is repeated information: oops. But it seems new to my warped memory, heh. __________________ “[People] talk to me about these characters as if they’re real, and they’re not real, but they’ve become real...I really think, shows like this one, you have an attachment to them. | So does this mean there's still hope for the DVDs? But then, we first learned of the S2 DVDs' existence because of that article that mentioned some up-and-coming artist's songs being used as substitution music in said DVDs... But then, S2 had more expensive music, overall, than did, say, S3 and 4, with more classics and then-hits, so there was always some chance of replacements, given that Warner Bros. wasn't going to want to spend the money at this point in the game. So then, maybe there's still hope for those seasons, if they're released. My brain hurts. ![]() __________________ Even in a perfect world where everyone was equal I'd still own the film rights and be working on the sequel | |||

| Supreme Fan ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Mine too! Stupid Warner making our brains hurt. I'm sure there will definitely be music substitution for season two (and beyond), but I'm not wondering if it will be as widespread. Those episodes are for free, and obviously they don't want to have to pay for the music rights for episodes that they aren't really getting any money off of. Although I'm sure they're making money somehow. Anyway, maybe for the episodes where they are expecting to make money, there is a chance--a small, tiny, minuscule, wee chance--that the music replacements won't be as rampant? I should just stop trying to understand what's going on, heh. Also, that same poster in another thread there mentioned that if you register for an account on the WB site, you can add all the episodes to it, and at the end of the run of Everwood episodes, you'd have all the episodes in the series on the playlist to watch whenever you want. I don't know if everyone knew that, but it seemed worth mentioning. ![]() __________________ “[People] talk to me about these characters as if they’re real, and they’re not real, but they’ve become real...I really think, shows like this one, you have an attachment to them. | Hi Everyone, I am new to this thread. I am on a mission since I have heard so much about the music from Everwood. TheWB site posts episodes every week and they are the DVD versions. I am in the process of going though them and trying ID the music. Currently I am making a spreadsheet of the TV vs. DVD versions. Everwood was filmed and shown before many music supervisors realized the high costs or re-licensing music for DVD use....hence a lot of songs being changed. I found quite a few just in the first 10 episodes of season 1 that were either changed or never ID'd. If anyone is interested or has any comments or questions, please feel free to email me any song questions or clips that I could help out with. it's everwoodmusic at g mail dot com. I have no connection to the show but am a fan of the show and the music. Thanks Last edited by EWMusicJunkie : 04-22-2009 at 12:20 PM. Reason: spelling error | |||

We've definitely been following the changes, with some discomfort and confusion I might add, and there will be a ton of fans looking for what happened, what the old songs were, but I'm sure a lot will be looking for some of the new songs too. Keep us updated! __________________ “[People] talk to me about these characters as if they’re real, and they’re not real, but they’ve become real...I really think, shows like this one, you have an attachment to them. | The only really noticeable music substitution was the opening scene in The Last of Summer. I distinctly remember the original song being more...I dunno, happy? Upbeat? So that was a bit distracting, but aside from that, everything else has been fine. Though I really think they substituted everything from the premiere out. Were those songs all that expensive? Geez. __________________ Watch Privileged on The CW at 9/8c Tuesdays "...the closest thing to Gilmore Girls since it left the air."

| Supreme Fan ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I didn't really actually notice any changes. Like, if I hadn't been listening for some differences, I don't think I would have noticed any. The songs sound a little cheaper and a lot more generic, but...so far, no real disappointments. I'll save that for "At Last", hee. Quote:

| Get Together by The Youngbloods is sadly not on the set either. But they replaced it with a really good/similar song that is fine by me...I guess. Heh. The Robbie Williams song is the opening pool song in the premire and that's been replaced by some god awful thing. Ugh. Michelle Branch was also replaced...though why they had her in there as background noise in the first place is beyond me. __________________ Watch Privileged on The CW at 9/8c Tuesdays "...the closest thing to Gilmore Girls since it left the air." | |||

| The "At Last" sub wasn't too jarring either. I never really understood the fascination with the song in that scene to be completely honest. But they cut Earth Wind and Fire's "September". Boo! They thankfully kept Beth Orton's "Ooh Child", which is so complimentary at the end of the episode, that I don't see how they could've cut it. Yay for Warner! Heh. __________________ Watch Privileged on The CW at 9/8c Tuesdays "...the closest thing to Gilmore Girls since it left the air." | |||

I'm pretty sure "California Girls" wasn't used in "The Last of Summer", but I can't remember what scene it would have been used in. __________________ “[People] talk to me about these characters as if they’re real, and they’re not real, but they’ve become real...I really think, shows like this one, you have an attachment to them. | Supreme Fan ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Just watched "Blind Faith" and the "At Last" substitution is quite good. It's got strings, just like "At Last", it's old fashioned sounding and it's got some nice lyrics about love. It's similar in tone, at the very least. But, OH, it's not "At Last"! The meaning behind that song, that Andy recognizes it..and it just fits the scene PERFECTLY. I just watched the original with the original song and they either actually time some of the scene to fit with the song or it's just one all big coincidence, because some of the lyrics match up with some of what's going on in the scene. So, yeah, actually a pretty impressive attempt in the substitution, but it's impossible to top "At Last". Which is probably pretty expensive, so what can you do? __________________ “[People] talk to me about these characters as if they’re real, and they’re not real, but they’ve become real...I really think, shows like this one, you have an attachment to them. | You are so neurotic! I finished Unspoken Truths today and I think I liked the techno subs more than the originals. I really do love As The Rush Comes but whatever they used got the job done as well. __________________ Watch Privileged on The CW at 9/8c Tuesdays "...the closest thing to Gilmore Girls since it left the air."

| Supreme Fan ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | It's a good song! I would probably consider it one of the better suited songs that the show used in S2. Plus, it'll be the only song I actually can remember being replaced in S2, so I won't have anything else to say about the rest, hee. ![]() __________________ “[People] talk to me about these characters as if they’re real, and they’re not real, but they’ve become real...I really think, shows like this one, you have an attachment to them.
