While I do hope that this situation won't last long, because I don't want anyone deprived of their livelihood (including me and my wife) right now, I'm more concerned with saving lives than trying to get people back to work too soon and having the death rate rise even more than it is.

I feel I'm among friends here so I'll be honest: There are parts of me that are Conservative and I do want our economy to be strong, and I wish that more manufacturing jobs could be brought back to this country to make us stronger and strengthen the Middle Class. There are also parts of me that are Liberal, especially because I'm Pro-Union, but sadly, most of the corporations in America now have their manufacturing done in places like China due to the cheap labor, and most states now are "Right To Work" states. You know what 'Right To Work" means? It was a union-busting tactic which basically means a company can fire you at any time for any reason, or for no reason. My father was able to retire at 58 with a comfortable pension because he was in a union, but I'll have to work until I'm 70 and still worry about having enough money to retire on because I don't have a pension and I'm not in a union. The Democratic Party and the Republican Party have become parties of extremes, with the Democrats to the extreme left, and the Republicans to the extreme right. There's no room for moderate candidates now, so for someone like me, who tends to be somewhat middle of the road and moderate, there's no where for me to turn.

I did misunderstand what you said, Jerry. I believe we're on the same exact page politically. Hopefully Trump will not do anything rash for the sake of jump starting the economy without consulting the Scientists on his panel who are much more knowledgeable about the consequence of such a move.

I often think of what that bastard Christie did to your pension fund Betty. You worked hard your whole life to be able to retire with that pension, and he refused to fund it, and he was applauded by the Republicans for it! That just appalls me!

Thanks, Jerry. It is horrible. I have a decent pension because I worked so many years. but..if the money that was never replaced runs out...I am up a creek without a paddle!

I honestly don't know. I haven't lived in New Jersey for many years. In my lifetime, there have been Democratic Presidents and Republican Presidents, but for many years, the candidates that would end up getting elected were rather moderate. For example, in the first debate between John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon, Nixon started out by saying "The things that Senator Kennedy has said, many of us can agree with," and, indeed, they held many of the same views. and through that debate, they showed a great deal of respect to each other, even though they were running against each other. If you compare that debate with the debates between the Democrats this year and between Trump and the other Republican Candidates in 2016, or between Trump and Hillary Clinton in 2016, it's like night and day. Richard Nixon would be considered too liberal by the current Republican Party, and John F. Kennedy would be considered too conservative by the current Democratic Party, and now the Democrats and the Republicans in Congress do all they can to oppose any policy that the opposition party President puts forward. All vestiges of civility and doing what's right have disappeared, and everyone is out for their own interests.
