I'd imagine in beautiful, historical QC they had parades and other special events!I have to talk to my friend to see if she participated in anything. That is so cool about the joint celebrations on the US/Canadian borders around Detroit/Windsor and Buffalo/NF area. I've never been to the Detroit/Windsor area but I have been to the Buffalo/Niagara Falls area many times, it's one of my favorite vacation spots. Gorgeous area! So much fun. __________________ J.K. | Oh man I the Niagara Falls area. It's gorgeous. Been there many times and plan on returning many times!Quote:
Minnesota to start, Twin Cities to be exact. So we can attend endless Wild games. No seriously, Minnesota it is. At least for the immediate future, maybe permanent? Not totally sure, but the first move is certainly living in, "The State of Hockey." ![]() __________________ Nov 05 LLMA Frenchie Last edited by Wilpen : 07-02-2008 at 08:02 AM.

Well, from what I hear anyway, heh. I've never been yet, but after all I've heard on this forum, I'm yearning to go! Will be fun when the Habs face the Wild! Not that it happens often, but would be a neat dynamic!Glad you to have made a choice! Exciting times ahead!__________________ “[People] talk to me about these characters as if they’re real, and they’re not real, but they’ve become real...I really think, shows like this one, you have an attachment to them. | Extreme Fan ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Wow, Tos. That's a nice avatar. ![]() I would like to tell everyone, (I had mentioned it on the sports thread) that I will be visiting my cousin who lives and works in the Netherlands. She lives in the Hague. I am leaving this Monday and will be staying for 10 days. We are planning to also drive to Belgium and stay there for a couple of days. I am really excited and so looking forward to this trip. ![]() __________________ icon: BuffyannAlex

| Betty, that's awesome. I hope you have fun! Can't wait to hear about your trip. Will you have internet access during or will we have to miss you for ten days? Hee. LOL.Quote:
![]() Tos, if you ever hit Minnesota, let me know, I can certainly show you around. ![]() Oh yes, watching the Habs/Wild is going to be the best. I think we'll both shut our mouths throughout and just watch and see what happens. LOL. It's one of those things where the both of us cheer for the Habs/Wild daily but whenever they should meet, no matter what we have our own personal preference that's going to cause a little division but that only makes it interesting and fun as well. I can only imagine a Habs/Wild Stanley Cup one day, though. Fun? You bet. Slightly nerve wracking at home? Oh yes, absolutely. ![]() It's kind of funny because I still cannot get over how she's a diehead Habs fan but doesn't hate Toronto. I'm not sure how this is possible to be honest. Basically she said whenever the Habs are out, it's Canada teams she cheers for in the playoffs, Toronto amazingly included, along with my Wild now and a few other American teams she likes. But I keep asking with the rich history and Don Cherry causing his drama at times LOL how this can be that she's fine with Toronto but she still insists she has nothing against the Leafs. I just find this fascinating since so many Canadians have issues with Toronto. LOL. And yes, here we go talking sports on the non sports thread, I just realized this. See sports is everywhere since it's so awesome and it cannot be toned down ever... hockey in particular. ![]() __________________ Nov 05 LLMA Frenchie Last edited by Wilpen : 07-06-2008 at 09:51 AM.

| Extreme Fan ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Betty, don't leave usssssss! ![]() Seriously, though..don't. Actually serious, you have to tell us all about it. Have you been before? Sounds like a really fun trip, I'd really like to go to Europe someday, and family too. Nice! Have a good one!Quote:
Not sure whenever I'll make it, but when I go back down to America, other than New York, it's on the top of my list of places to go. It just sounds so beautiful and somewhere where a Canadian can fit on. Not to say they can't fit in elsewhere, we all go to Florida apparently heh, but just kind of the beauty too and some of the more, hmm, greener in a way. Foresty. Love the Habs/Wild talk! Should be fun! Ooh, and a Stanley Cup final, oh wow. You would definitely have to go see one in Montreal too though, just to have that atmosphere in both places. Plus the OLE OLE OLE song!Hehe, that is pretty amazing about Toronto. Especially with the Habs/Maple Leaf feud. I will say that here in the west we have a unique view on Toronto overall, I mean they're stereotyped all over Canada, but here, there is a bit of an Eastern/Western divide and so we probably do have a bit more ire towards Toronto than some would. ![]() __________________ “[People] talk to me about these characters as if they’re real, and they’re not real, but they’ve become real...I really think, shows like this one, you have an attachment to them. Also, the Minnesotan mentality is so Canadian, too. In every way. ![]() And LOL about Florida! Angela mentioned this not too long ago as well. Florida is definitely a hotspot for Canadians, I was never aware of this until she mentioned it. Is it also about location? What I mean is would more eastern Canadians around where Angela's from travel down to Florida while many western Canadians travel downward hitting the great state of California, in particular, LA, for fun in the sun? I wonder if it has to do with specific location or if as a rule, Canadians for all over really enjoy Florida for a nice vacation spot. ![]() Quote:
This is a really funny story and my God even more hilarious because we were just talking about this. Neither of us are into massive PDA, right? LOL. Well I asked her jokingly if there would be exceptions to this rule and she goes, "Yeah maybe if one of us is drunk." Then she paused, thought longer, then goes, "Or if Montreal won the Stanley Cup and we were caught up in the moment." I should have known hockey, in particular, the Habs winning the Stanley Cup would certainly be an automatic exception. ![]() Quote:
She did say some of her relatives dislike the Leafs LOL but within her immediate family they really don't. I'd like to know more about the Eastern/Western divide! Is it more about the media and the eastern bias? Is that the origin or is it more about the history surrounding the teams on both sides of the country? __________________ Nov 05 LLMA Frenchie

Thanks, Michelle& Tos!! It's nice to be missed! ![]() I have a little time to to write some of my initial thoughts about the Netherlands. I will periodically write how and what I am doing when I have a chance. So Far: - Don't bring summer clothes to The Netherslands if you go there in the summer. Bring long pants. Make sure you bring closed shoes and a rain jacket! - Because of it's location in the world.....it was still daylight at 10:30P.M. last night...very cool! (Of course that means that the winter nights are longer!) - This is the place for cycling enthusiasts.....bicycles everywhere! bike paths everywhere! - Lots of very good looking tall people. -Lots of adorable blond children. - People are very nice here and very relaxed. Typical sight: Woman riding a bike with one young child in the front of her and one child in the back of her.....one hand on the handle and the other hand talking on a cell phone. Americans should be that relaxed! ![]() So far I have been seeing the sights in The Hague (where my cousin lives). Beautiful city. Went to a couple of museums. Saw the Peace Palace, Parliament. I went to beach today (even though it was not beach weather!) It was fun. It kind of reminded me of the Jersey shore.....the sand, the amusements, the food stands. I tried french fries with mayonaise for the first time (the Dutch love mayonaise). It was good.....but I still prefer ketchup! I'll try to report back in a couple of days. I hope I'm not boring any of you! __________________ icon: BuffyannAlex Last edited by everwoodfan52 : 07-09-2008 at 10:27 AM.

| You definitely portrayed the netherlands well, as far as the way I see them ![]() Very relaxed, very green, and yeah, not hot in the summer Pretty much like sweden, norway, finland, as far as I know.I'm glad you're having a good time ! ![]() __________________ ~Alexandra~ (Everwood videos, Other vids) - icon credit VidUKOn: First Vidding Convention in the UK. | |||

Not acceptable, get back here sooner! ![]() LOL about Americans not being nearly as relaxed! Wow I had no clue about the daylight hours! So interesting. Hilarious about the mayo! No clue the Dutch loved mayo, that's so funny. I agree about ketchup ruling on fries, mayo no thank you. Hee. How's the food? Anything there you like? Hate? I have tons of questions but I'll refrain and let you freely respond. ![]() So glad you're having fun! ![]() ETA: Checked and you said you'll be gone 10 days starting Monday! Ahhhhhh LOL. *prays it goes by fast even if you're having a blast* LOL. __________________ Nov 05 LLMA Frenchie Last edited by Wilpen : 07-09-2008 at 05:51 PM.

| I prefer mustard or Italian or Ranch dressing with my fries. No mayo for me either. | Mayo on fries? Isn't that un-American? ![]() I've never tried it so I shouldn't judge so quickly but it's ketchup, barbeque or honey mustard for me, man! Betty, continue to have fun and keep posting your thoughts here! ![]() Quote:
Minnesotans are extremely liberal, they are nice, they are down to earth, they aren't uptight, they are laid back, they love hockey, and the list goes on and on. They are way more Canadian than American if you go by traits alone which rocks the house, dude. ![]() Quote:
