Everwood Fans who are Dawson/Joey & Pacey/Andie Fans of Dawson's Creek #21: Wasted Potential.

This is an appreciation thread for Everwood fans who are also Dawson/Joey & Pacey/Andie fans. For those who shipped these pairings, the series once had such great promise, but ended up being one of the most disappointing series to date. TPTB enjoyed manipulating the heart and soul of the old school (seasons 1/2) Dawson's Creek audience, who embraced the premise and the main pairings of the show; Dawson/Joey and Pacey/Andie fans. The first two seasons defined Dawson's Creek. Season 3 came along and the show simply wasn't the same anymore. New showrunner who essentially mocked the premise, destroyed the main pairings, and was basically just fine with dropping the quality in order to make the series his own. We know the drill. Discussing our main pairings, as well frustrations over storylines, writing, TPTB, fandom in general, is all welcome here.

Note: This is not a debate thread with other ships. This thread is strictly for Dawson/Joey & Pacey/Andie fans to appreciate the pairings and discuss aspects of the show, both good and bad. This thread was originally created to celebrate friendships between a couple of regulars on the Everwood board who, back in the day, posted on the Dawson's Creek board and encountered some terrible fan wars and not so great moments. We wanted a safe place to discuss our thoughts here on the Everwood board. That is how this thread was created. Jerry D, our amazing Administrator, and my very good friend, came up with the idea and the rest is history. For those of you who ship other pairings and don't agree with the content of this thread, of course there's the Dawson's Creek board and other threads scattered throughout Fan Forum perfectly designed for you.

Thanks!

Alternate S5 & S6 : He made a solemn promise he would come and visit her. Hell, he even jotted it down in indelible black ink onto the crisp pages of her brand new journal while wearing a big toothy grin on his face, but regardless, it had been months since Pacey had made any contact with Andie. Andie forced herself not to overthink it and chalked it up to life getting in the way, but the smallest embers inside of her heart that yearned for him still despite everything that happened between them started to prickle at the back of her head. Although once the orientation process at Harvard was over and the real work began, Andie’s thoughts of Pacey Witter were sidelined in order to make room for the mountains and mountains of schoolwork she was receiving on a daily basis.

That was until, out of the blue, Pacey literally came sailing back into her life looking tanned, well rested, and even more gorgeous. Andie vowed to never let herself fall back in love with Pacey, she made an ironclad pledge to herself to never stray back into that hornet’s nest, but his soft, warm gaze pointed in her direction had Andie convinced his heart was remembering the way it used to love her.

She was one hundred percent correct in her assumptions.

The laughter between them settled into a deep warmth and easiness, and they talked well into the wee hours of the night and gradually, the intimacy they once coveted as a couple so long ago had returned to their bodies in triplicate. It started with Pacey’s hand brushing up against hers when she handed him a magazine from a convenience store shelf, which then evolved into their hugs becoming longer and more needy each time they touched. Soon enough, Pacey did the unthinkable, and asked Andie a question she never thought she’d hear again in her life from him…

Pacey Witter had asked her out on a date.

At first, they had both agreed to not invest too much of themselves into the date, stating an urge to take things as slow as they could in order to protect themselves from any harmful fallout, but Pacey and Andie’s mutually intense bedroom eyes that screamed “make love to me.” seemed to tell another story altogether. The immense pain of potentially opening up old wounds over how their relationship crumbled in the past fell to the wayside as Pacey and Andie ended up having passionate, raw, soul searing sex in Andie’s shower. Every single iota of mistrust, devastating heartbreak, and bad memories in their past circled its way down the drain.

And as Andie sat by her vanity, drying her hair and watching Pacey getting ready for bed, she smiled to herself. At long last, she finally felt like she could breathe again.

Yes, I see that, and you got it right, LOL

But I really don't know who is more obnoxious.

If you watched the four episode on Netflix you'll see she will eventually wind up with rJess; as Dean and Logan are married .

Being a bit ****ty she has no idea who the father is, her boyfriend, a random one night stand, or Logan

The last scene is Jess looking through the diner window like a lost puppy as Rory tells Luke and Lorelai that Jess no longer has feelings for her

Since the diner was given to Jess the show has done a complete 360. An unmarried woman with child, flirting with diner owner.

I liked the ending where she wound up with none of the guys. The way Joey should have ended up.

I was going to ask you this question.

Indeed. I saw the four episodes on Netflix. I thought it was really obvious she would end up with Jess. I think if additional episodes happen in the future that is precisely what will happen, it will become official.

I really wish that would have been Joey’s ending. It was by far the best ending for her. The viewers could imagine what would happen next.

After much thought I decided that Rory was more obnoxious.

I enjoy watching the random Dawson Creek episode, but I have no desire to ever watch a single GG episode again.

In fact the only two characters I sort of like in GG is Luke and Dean..

I think I may be to negative for the GG thread on here.

The show certainly isn’t for everyone. I thought both Lorelai and Rory could be very obnoxious. I did love LL. Definitely had to take a step back and not really fall in love with the characters as much as just enjoy the comedy because it was pretty funny. By comparison, I loved all the main characters of Everwood. I cannot say the same about either Dawson’s Creek or Gilmore Girls.

I never really watched Gilmore Girls so I can't offer a real opinion on Rory or any of the other characters. I would watch a few minutes of the show here and there but I never really got into it. From what I did see of it, many of the characters seemed "quirky" to me, and that concept didn't really appeal to me.

Definitely quirky is a good word to use. The entire town as a whole was eccentric.

Yes, that's the impression that I got.

I really liked the Luke/Lorelai relationship and the family dynamic (Grandmother/mother/daughter) as well. I liked the show overall or enough to keep tuning in. A bad episode of Gilmore Girls is still ten times better than Dawson’s Creek seasons 3-6, lol.

From the last thread, I feel that it’s ironic that in making Joey the IT Girl that no mere mortal could resist, they actually made her into a horrible character who the audience couldn’t relate to, and I don’t think they ever realized how they built up someone who was totally self-absorbed and heedless of the feelings of the people who cared about her into this “Goddess” (Pacey’s words) that everyone on the show blindly worshiped.

I understand! I heard the quality of Gilmore Girls was adversely affected when the show-runner, Amy Sherman-Palladino, left the show. Do you agree that was the case?

I couldn’t believe they had Pacey call her that. How absolutely ridiculous. Did anyone... writers, producers, directors, show-runners not have some bizarre crush on Katie? I absolutely don’t get it. I don’t even think back in the day she was that beautiful. Cute? Yes. She certainly didn’t have the all natural beautiful looks (we see that now as she’s gotten older). Either way, there was no reason for the obsession.

Why do you think TPTB went there? Was it to sell a brand? I wonder if they realized what they did to the character of Joey by going there.

100%. When ASP (and her husband) left, Luke/Lorelai really suffered. The show was different (and not in a good way) when they left.

I always considered Katie Holmes to be cute, but I wouldn’t consider her to be classically beautiful by any means, and her appeal was mostly due to her youthful beauty, and youthful beauty can, and does, fade, and her youthful beauty was even starting to fade in the later seasons of the show. I never understood why the writers and producers idolized her so much and made her the IT Girl of the show. The only thing I could attribute it to is that she was popular on the Internet and I think that Paul Stupin followed the Internet closely and he thought that Joey, and Pacey and Joey, were the best thing since sliced bread, but the more that they turned the show into Joey’s Creek, the worse the show, and Joey’s character, became.

A really good example of how horrible Joey could be was when she got jealous when Pacey charmed that Worthington recruiter at the dinner for prospective Worthington students that they went to and she cruelly asked him what college he was going to in front of the recruiter knowing full well that he hadn’t gotten into any college because she was jealous that Pacey was more comfortable in a social setting than she was, and she stormed off crying, and despite her reprehensible actions in humiliating Pacey in a public setting, he told her she was “like Audrey Hepburn” in the same episode. Unreal.
