I don’t understand how anyone could want pairings together when... they’re in love with other people?

Lucas and Peyton were in love since season 1 and they never stopped.

Now, did they care about others along the way? Of course.

But they were only in love with each other in that complete, true love, I want to be with you forever kind of way.

Jake and Brooke knew this too.

Thankfully Brooke found Julian who was the right match for her. Finally, she was happy.

We don’t know about Jake, but my guess is he found someone as well. Someone who could love him completely and didn’t love another more.

Peyton was hurting SO MUCH over her mom. She was so depressed and withdrawn. She couldn't even go to at the time, her boyfriend, Nathan, or her best friend, Brooke. They didn't understand or care enough (to be honest) to see what she was going through. Then fast forward even past how wonderful she felt around Lucas and Haley and go with how she was with Jake. She was yearning for a mother, so she tried to BECOME a mother to Jenny. She wanted that picket fence family so she faked it with someone she didn't even hardly know in Jake and Jenny.

It is pathetically sad. How anyone could cheer for this I will never understand.
